Clarks Mill is situated alongside the Kakanui River and Maheno, about 15 kilometres south of Oamaru, North Otago, New Zealand. It used water power, from the river, to drive the machinery grinding wheat to flower. When electricity was installed to replaces water power, the Clarks brothers bought the mill and developed the business further. It used to be part and parcel of Totara Estates but when their separate ways once both businesses specialised in their respective primary markets. Clarks Mill and Totara Estates were brought back together when both were acquired by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga - and both brought back to their current popularity with New Zealanders and foreign visitors to South Island.
Clarks Mill was part of Totara Estates; both now owned and operated by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. They close for the cold winter and Autumn months every year and both open from Sept\Oct to Mar\Apr every year. Highly recommended for local and visitors to North Otago. Prop Geldenhuys Oamaru
