The Masked Murder Halloween Ball
Tabitha Hall attended the Halloween Masquerade Ball in Redbury Junction with her friends Myra and Josie expecting a night full of fun and revelry. Little did she know this outing would prove to be her last. When the lights in Rory's home where The Ball was being held, suddenly plunge the guests into darkness, Rory and Detective Reinfeld descend the basement stairs to solve the problem. While down there, they hear a blood curdling scream that sends them rushing upstairs to find its origin. It is not until they reach the second floor of Rory's house that they find what caused the scream. A woman lay face down with what appeared to be a stab wound in her back. The others in the room were in shock. One of Tabitha's friends admitted to screaming.
As Detective Reinfeld begins taking statements, Rory heads downstairs to find the medical examiner and coroner who quickly follow her to the crime scene. Once the observers are removed and the party ends, Detective Reinfeld, and the medical examiner inspect the victim and the crime scene.
Tabitha is pronounced dead, and her death ruled a homicide. A search of her body reveals she is a resident of Woodtower.
Detective Reinfeld and Deputy Sheila prepare to head to Woodtower to gather more information on the deceased. Rory is adamant she be included in the investigation since her home is now a crime scene. Daisy declares she plans to join the group as well. The only problem? The quartet has no idea who to question in Woodtower. Using a business card that was found on the victim they begin the investigation at that shop.
Delilah Dahl owns the shop Designs by Delilah in Woodtower whose business card had been found on the deceased's body. When she is questioned about why Tabitha had her card, the group from Redbury Junction learn Delilah was Tabitha's best friend. Delilah insists on accompanying the group as they question individuals. Delilah's knowledge of Tabitha and her interactions with others helps move the investigation move at a quicker pace.
As the suspect pool begins to dwindle, frustration starts to affect Detective Reinfeld, Deputy Sheila, Rory, Daisy, and Delilah. All they want is justice for Tabitha. Can the killer maintain their anonymity, or will they be unmasked?
If Detective Reinfeld, the others from Redbury Junction, and Delilah have their way they will not stop until the case is closed and the guilty party is behind bars.

I was SO excited to read this story, even the cover sold me before I knew anything about it. But the best part was the beginning. Many communities came together to help plan & decorate & design the masked ball for all to attend. I wish coverage of this was even more detailed…..and I really believed the end would have a redo of the ball for everyone to celebrate & heal with hopes of moving forward like so many of us wish for our own communities. And…I figured out the whodunnit early on. I will get another book by this author because she does have a great writing talent!

This is a delightful Fall read, although enjoyable during any season. It is suitable for young or squeamish mystery fans. The components are well written, challenging plot, defined characters and lovely setting.

It is a great idea! When Rory and her friend Daisy decide to celebrate Fall with a masked costume ball as a way to include adults in the Fall festivities and bring three towns together, everyone is so excited. Until the lights go out and a scream changes everything. A murder of a young woman sparks an investigation that SCREAMS jealousy, payback, and selfless reasons. Rory, Daisy, Deputy Sheila and Detective Reinfield, have to piece the clues together, and sort out the lies to bring justice for this young woman, Tabitha, who everyone loves….except apparently someone doesn’t. This cozy mystery will definitely keep you entertained while you try to figure who dunnit. You will love the wonderful characters as they work together for the better of mankind

A Cute Halloween Murder Mystery
I went into this without reading the first four stories and I will be going back to read the first four. I enjoyed that the story had community, mystery, and a hint of romance. The begging drew me in quickly and while I did guess who did it, it was entertaining to read how the detective figured it out.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Roche. I will definitely be going back to read more of her books!! I enjoyed reading this cute Halloween mystery. When Rory and her friends decided to have a fun party they didn't expect a murder to happen. I was surprised who the murderer was. If you love cozy mysteries this one is a must read for sure!!

I really enjoyed this book and all of it's characters and the small group of small town detectives and wonderfully witty expertise.
