”Don’t knock insanity. It might be our one saving grace.”

This last installment in the series was short and action packed. Link’s revenge plan on the last two men gets forced into motion during the last book when Lea and Rocky appear to be in danger.

Link goes full blown vigilante and Rocky sneaks along for the ride…

description

A possible future between Link and Rocky is discussed…

”Give me time, Rocky, please. When Liv died, I never thought I’d know any kind of life again. But I’m starting to see a future for myself. Something outside of my vengeance. One with you.”

The cowboy goes in total attack mode and I was cringing because these two have been through enough and I just wanted my damn HEA. The story does end on a happy note with positives feelings for the future but for me… IT WASN’T ENOUGH.

Cheryl McIntrye, Please return to this series for one final book on the future of Link and Rocky! I wasn’t completely satisfied with this ending even though the threat and Link’s four year purpose has been achieved.

description

On a side note, if this in fact all there is in this series, I’m so sad to say goodbye....

I love Rocky and Link so much and I promise to buy more if you write more.

I so loved this series, never wanted it to end:( There is everything in here a good reading should have. Both hero and heroine are great, likeable characters. Plot is fast paced and on the edge of dark a little. There are steamy, hot sex scenes. And finally the story is interesting and keeps you curious till the last page.

This is how the story starts:
"Three. This is my number. It's exact sum of reasons I continue to go on.
One: To strengthen my body.
Two: To help others find their own strength.
Three: To find bastards that took my life away and make them pay for what they did."
And this is how it ends:
"Three is still my number.
One: To strengthen my body.
Two: To help others find their own strength.
And three: My new favorite - to find the ability to let go of the past and allow myself to love again."
And the change in number three, pretty much sums up the whole series. In the beginning, Link is a very broken man with only one goal in life, to revenge the loss of his beloved Olivia. But somewhere along the way, when the justice is being done, he meets Rocky and slowly lets her in his heart. Though as scared as he is, he lets himself feel again and that changes him from a miserable man to the one optimistic about the future.
I loved the interactions between those two and how their relationship slowly developed. We had to wait a litlle for them to get down to "business", but when it finally came.... they were deliciously hot and dirty together. And that sex scene with paint, tssssss, ovaries on fire.

Ok, so I wanted to say it's not enough, I want more Link and Rocky and be miserable here, but since I saw this:

I'm gonna say Hell Yeah!!!

"Two is better than one—"

description

Staying Dirty is the 5th book in the Dirty Series. I have flown through this series. This series consumed me. The addictive pull to Rocky and Link has kept me engaged every step of the way. Link has been struggling with his need for vengeance and will stop at nothing to finish the job. However, the stakes are high for Link. He now has Rocky. His Rocky. She is in his care.

Rocky has fallen hard for Link. She will do anything to protect him from himself. She manages to wiggle her way in to his plot for revenge. She follows him and won't let him face the ugliness alone.

“Don’t knock insanity. It might be our one saving grace.”-Rocky

When Link realizes the danger Rocky is in, he panics. It is his worst fear after everything that he has been through. He must come to terms with resolving the vengeance AND keeping Rocky safe.

“She’s all I have left in the world now and I can’t risk losing her too.”-Link

description

The sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts. The fact that they both have overcome such horrific demons in order to find solace in each other is what drives this series. The darkness becomes lighter. The dirty becomes cleaner. Rocky and Link have a long way to go before they will be bright and perfectly clean but they are on the journey together.

“I’ll never stop wanting to touch you, Link. I’m pretty sure you’re the only one I want to touch for the rest of my life.”-Rocky

Overall, Staying Dirty was a terrific installment to this series. However... There is a promise of another book to come. I haven't been able to find any information on it. I will be waiting Ms. McIntyre!

"I knew it was possible this day would come. I just didn’t think it would come so soon. I don’t know how to protect myself. Once you give your heart to someone, it’s theirs to do with as they please."-Rocky

"After everything we’ve been through lately, you’d think this would be the last thing on either of our minds. But this is my serenity. These little moments with her. Her touch. Her laugh. Her."-Link

*****FIVE STARS*****

I LOVED THIS ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!!

 photo imagejpg1_zps138f6cd2.jpg

WOW!!
What an amazing story and journey this series has taken me through.
Each and every novella, for me, was PERFECTION!!
I have totally fallen head over heels for LINK!!!
In this one, he's realizing his heart can beat again for someone other than Livie.
He's trying to give what he has left of himself to Rocky, and Rocky is definitely ready to move forward with Link.
She knows she's in love with him but is afraid she'll always be living in the shadow of Livie's ghost.

"Then there will never be room for me," I whisper, more to myself than to him. He's made it clear from the beginning, but for some reason, until this moment, I didn't fully understand. There will never be enough room in his heart for me. It will always be hers.

"I'm trying to make room for you. More and more every day. I didn't expect this. I didn't want this. I'm still trying to accept it. I never thought I would be able to find any form of happiness again. You snuck up on me. So you have to understand it's going to take time."

"Give me time, Rocky, please. When Liv died, I never thought I'd know any kind of life again. But I'm starting to see a future for myself. Something outside of my vengeance. One with you."

Link has a new reason to want one of Livie's killers dead.
He's now after Rocky and he's letting Link know his intentions.
At this point, I felt Rocky did something foolish.
I was really pissed at her until everything started to unfold, and it was obvious that she was very much needed during the situation.

 photo imagejpg2_zpsc010e120.jpg

This one was suspenseful and filled with action.
Link's whole world was once again at risk of being destroyed.
I'm not sure what I think about the ending though.
Would have been great if things went differently for Mr Cowboy.

Well now the series is basically over and I am so damn sad!!
I know Ms. McIntyre has announced that there will be one more book that will be the Epilogue, since there isn't one attached to this last installment, BUT, she hasn't decided whether or not it will be a full length novel. She hasn't started to write it yet!!
I'm totally devastated for now!! :(

It's over!!

Things pick up where book 4 left off. Lea gets a visit from Bates. Bates is the final pice of the puzzle. The one thing keeping Rocky from being safe and Link from moving on. If Bates can be eliminated, Rocky will be safe. Link will do anything to protect Rocky, in the way he couldn't with Olivia.

I guess my biggest complaint is I wanted to see more with regards to the development of Link and Rocky's relationship. They grew so much, together and individually, through out the whole process but once I got to the end I was just kind of left thinking....that's it?

All in all, still a fan of the serial series as a whole and would definitely recommend. But what can I say, I would love more of Link and Rocky now that they've put their pasts behind them.

Sad to say goodbye to Link and Rocky!

***4 That's the End Stars***

I'm not the bad guy. I'm what's left over after the bad guy is finished.

Phew...what a rollercoaster ride this series has been! I was both anxious and nervous starting this final installment. There were so many questions, so many possibilities...so many emotions. Most, but unfortunately, not all was wrapped up nicely.

This final installment finds the proverbial shit hitting the fan. The final straw has broke and Link is ready to finally finish this.

My anger is a living being. I can feel it slithering through my veins and pounding in my head. I can see it in the trembling of my fingers, crushing the newspaper in my grip. I can hear it in the thundering static playing inside my eardrums.

I can smell it.

I can taste it.

That's as far as I'm going to go when it comes to Link's plan o' vengeance. The best part of this story is the twists and turns and if I tell you what happens and how we ended up here....well, where's the fun in that?! What I will say is you'll be gripping your kindle through a significant portion of this final installment, and you may be light headed from holding your breath for too long....and well, you'll be a bit emotionally exhausted.

Rocky has been watching Link struggle with his anger and conscience from the beginning, and with her feelings for him starting to grow and deepen, she won't allow him to go through this alone any longer. They'll give each other the strength they need.

When you're fighting for someone else, you can't give up. You have to push past the pain, the insecurity, the fear. You have to keep going because you know if you don't, you'll never forgive yourself.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and loved the raw and gritty nature of the writing and story, however I'm a bit disappointed in the conclusion. I could have used one more chapter or even an epilogue...something. It feels incomplete. And as my impromptu reading buddy, Assenette, pointed out to me...we don't really get a resolution to Rocky's situation. I was so focused on Link, that I completely forgot about Rocky's suggested plans.

And that ending? I'll put it under a spoiler for those who don't wish to know whether it's an HEA, HFN or the like. It doesn't give much more than that away, but I would hate to ruin anything for anyone.

Overall, a fantastic serial that I'm so glad I waited to read. The anticipation and anxiety over each book would have drove me nuts! I highly recommend this series for those that like grittier reads. It's definitely not too much to handle, but it's not hearts and flowers either. And with that, I think it's time for me to go find a rainbow and play with puppies.

p.s. Thank you to Assenette for the impromptu buddy read and for all the late night ramblings! I know I was a sucky partner with the last two books, but glad you were there for me to vent!

"I’m past the point of no return. I have to do this."

After The Cowboy threatens Lea, Link nows he has been watching them. He has no other choice but to speed up his plans and handle the last remaining guys.

Link immediately goes after them, and Rocky sneaks along for the ride…I am left screaming at my iPad….NO!! Let him handle it alone. Then…Okay good, your right he might need you. (this installment had me all jacked up)

The Cowboy/Carter Bates, is waiting for them and the twists and turns again had me cringing…Rocky and Link have already been through so much and I all I could think about was how jacked up they both would be if things went south.

This book is so action packed that it felt like 10-20 pages, I devoured them so quickly. I was watching the remaining percentages at the bottom and was losing it…kept thinking NO!! Its not enough!!

Don’t stress fellow Link and Rocky lovers…I found this on FB this morning on Ms. McIntyre's page:

The fifth and final installment of the Dirty series is out. And I've been overwhelmingly asked two questions in the past 24 hours: Will there be more? and Why no epilogue?

In answer to both questions: I didn’t write an epilogue for the Dirty series, but don’t worry, there WILL be an epilogue. The reason I didn’t put it on the end of Staying Dirty is because I need to decide if this epilogue will come in the form of another novella, or a full length novel.

I'd love to give Link and Rocky a full book, but I'm not sure it currently fits into my writing schedule. Either way, there will be some insight into Link and Rocky's future coming.

I can't wait for next installment/epilogue/book...whatever you want to throw out at Ms. McIntyre I am there...but my vote is for a full book.

I made the mistake to read this book when I was on a train. I wanted to cry and cry and cry..I felt so bad for Linken.

description

Link and Rocky are two shattered, broken people. They think that after everything they've gone through, they could never feel alive again.

description

But whatever life throws at you, if you find the right person, it will be "easier" to face the hell you're living.
As Link taught me, "Two is better than one" .

"Three is still my number.

One: to strenghten my body. Make it strong. Make it a machine. Make it so that what happened before can never, even, happen again.

Two: To help others find their own strength, so that what happened to me, what happened to Liv- what happened to Rocky- doesn't happen to them.

And three: My new favorite- to find the ability to let go of the past and allow myself to love again."

Oh my Link, when I read this passage at the end of the book I was in tears. After all he has gone through, I'm so happy that in the end, he could see a future for him.

I was so sad that the series was over, but then I turned the page and.....

"Link and Rocky's story continues in their full-length novel, coming 2015."

Series rating 4.5 stars!!

“A dead man, inside a scarred body, living only for revenge.”

Yes I am a series junkie, I love them and hate them, yet when this one was presented in front of me I was for once glad that it was complete. After starting to read this series it soon became apparent that I never would have survived had I had to wait for the next instalment. It was that engrossing, addictive and captivating that I had to read it in one sitting when I originally had them pencilled in as an instalment to fit in between books. This series though commanded my attention, it would not let me leave, it kept me page turning, I was glued, hooked and I seriously couldn’t put it down until I had finished.

“Scars like that are universal. We earn them differently, we wear them differently, but we all carry them the same.”

This is predominantly a book about revenge, but it also develops into a lot more. There is a love story, but it is also a book about soul searching, learning to cope with the past and putting it to rest, living for the now and the future, opening yourself up to others and learning to live and love again.

This book is dark, my husband and I had several conversations regarding this one. I couldn’t keep it to myself and I needed to talk about it. What would we do if it was one of us? Would revenge make us feel better? Could we justify it? Would it make it better? Would it make it go away? At the end of the day, what has happened in your past will always be there, you will never forget it. Even taking into account this most heinous of crimes, personally I couldn’t have done it, but by husband was emphatic with his thoughts. Perhaps men have a different train of thought, they are wired differently and although it is easy to say what you would do in this situation, bringing those thoughts to fruition would be a totally different kettle of fish. As you can tell by my ramblings, this is a book that will make you think A LOT!

So if you are in the mood for a dark, disturbing but equally riveting read, then you need to embrace Link and Rocky. They will cement themselves into your heart, you won’t want to let them go and you will be craving more at the end. Both characters are extremely broken, both have had horrific pasts that I cannot even bear to think about.

Link is driven by the past, his quest for vengeance the single most important thing that he can think about, until he can put his plan into action though he has immersed himself in making himself stronger and also helping others to be able to help themselves if and when faced with similar circumstances. He is heart-broken, immersed in a life of grief and sadness, stumbling through, trying to cope. His heart has been decimated, nothing left for anyone else, it is dead, gone, forgotten, but can Rocky be his glue, the sticky needed to piece together the shattered remnants that are left of his heart?

“I’m just not ready yet.”

Rocky, you could tell that in the past she was a ballsy girl, however like Link, her past contains an event that changed her, manipulated her present and future, immersing herself in just an existence rather than a life would Link be the man to help her, pull her out from the depths of despair that she finds herself in or is he too broken too? Maybe together they could be just what the other needs?

“If ever there was a man that could steal my heart, it’s him.”

My only little criticism is that I would have liked more, this is one of those books that screams EPILOGUE, I was not ready for these two to depart and I so want to know what happens in their lives going forward. Don’t get me wrong, this series does tie up at the end but once you have irrevocably fallen in love with characters you cannot help but want to keep hold of them for longer, you want to know the ins and outs of their futures, you just don’t want to let go.

“People like us don’t get a happy ending. We just get an ending. But we can make the most out of the time that we have.”

I can’t wait to read more from this author.

4.5 Star Series overall rating

“Time….I just need time.”

Gitte & Jenny:
Well, what can we say other than bloody hell, we weren’t mentally prepared for this series! Picking up book one we didn’t leave our reading chair till we’d flown through every instalment available, it was impossible, it was unavoidable.

‘I should feel justified. Instead I feel vacant.’

The Dirty series was harrowing, it was heart-breaking and it was incredibly intense and addictive. Fortunately we only had to wait one day for the fifth and final book and we devoured it the second we saw it was live.

‘This agony is consuming me. I’ve lost everything. I have nothing. Nothing to live for. Nothing to fight for.’

We can’t and won’t say anything that may spoil this story, it would be an injustice to the Author, YOU the reader as well as to the characters Link and Rocky. Both characters clawed their way into our hearts with their dramatic and vengeful story. We left them with a heavy breath, an exhausted emotional mind and a bleeding heart. But truly we aren’t ready to leave them, not really. Not at all, such is the impression they left on our souls.

Do you believe in an eye for an eye? Do you believe in karma? Do you believe in vengeance spurred on by love? Do you believe in love as a saviour?

‘She’s always here…’

The Dirty series will have you questioning everyone and everything. It will shock you, make you weep uncontrollably, make you crave justice and vindication. It will make you fall in love with love as a saviour. It will make you fall in love with a broken yet inspirational man named Link and a damaged yet incredibly strong girl named Rocky.

This series is a MUST read. Cheryl McIntyre manages to convey every emotion possible, write characters with such depth and connection as well as give the reader an intensely powerful story. This, in short is a hard hitting powerful serial that would rival any full sized novel or series! It was bloody brilliant and we are in awe! This Author nailed it!

‘Maybe it’s just him. His strenght. His pain. His passion. His ferocity. His protectiveness.’

Since reading we have read that a final novella/epilogue is in the works which is the only thing we thought was missing for us to feel fully satisfied. We just wanted that final important step to ease and mend our bleeding hearts and to feel ready to leave Link and Rocky.

“Scars like that are universal. We earn them differently, we wear them differently, but we all carry them the same.”

I enjoyed this series immensely, I didn't want it to end.

My only concern was it felt abit rushed in parts, I just wanted more of Link and Rocky, they're both so complex and damaged there seemed like more could have be explained, expressed, shown. Less can be more, but here I just wanted more. More about where they go fom here?

The excessive use of the words "girly places" turned me off, then I have to be reminded that Rocky was actually fighting for her dear life - naked. Yes naked, kind of hard to visualize that, but yeah n-a-k-e-d. And the motive of Carter Bates isn't all clear to me, there are a lot of loose ends. With him following Linken, knowing about Lea and Rocky and all that sh*t, I don't know why he had to wait. Ha! I am a killjoy! But to be honest, yes I did enjoy it. Thanks for the dirty ride, I guess!

4.5 Stars!

Revenge, Suspense, Darkness, Hotness.

Perfect combination for me. I devoured this series!!

My review for part one.

"I’m a vigilante. Or I will be by the time this day is over."

This was a great start to the series. This author is new to me, I love a hidden gem. I bought the bundle, so I'm diving right into the next installment.

Can you live with yourself after seeking revenge? Link loses his heart, his soul, his girlfriend after one tragic night. He's a shell of a human being, existing, not living. One thing on his mind, revenge.

Rocky's sense of security was taken one tragic day, her life changed forever. She also lives without a soul, an endless battle within herself to live.

I'm not sure how all this will tie in, but I'm anxious to find out. I wonder with vengeance if these two meeting was destiny. I love my books dark, gritty, full of suspense. I'm excited to see whats to come!

My review for part two- five.

"This is what my life is now . A dead man, inside a scarred body, living only for revenge."

My review is for the box set and parts 2-5. My intention was write a review for each part, but once I started it was impossible to stop. So, blame it on the author, she raked me in and didn't let me go. I rated each book between 4-5 Stars, as a whole, this story is definitely a 5 Star read for me. Everything I love in my gritty stories, she provided.

"I know this man is twisted and damaged , and probably the worst thing in the world for me. But aren’t we all twisted in some way."

Link & Rocky's relationship is unconventional at best, I loved their interactions, their fight to open up to each other. I felt a deeper connection between the two. I respect the ability of an author who is able to show me, instead of tell me. No instant-love here, it's raw, it's heartbreaking, and it's realistic. The plot itself is nail-biting, Link and Rocky are an extra bonus.

"But this— this hug—hurts worse. This feeling of unification— of oneness— it’s almost too much to bear. It’s treachery. Olivia was my counterpart since I was fifteen years old. She was the other half of me. Rocky is my parallel . A reflection of what I am now. My mirror image of pain."

If you love a dark read, but not too dark, I highly recommend. This one is light in comparison to others I read, but the author did an absolutely amazing job at keeping glued to the pages, it's a rollercoaster of tragic pasts, revenge, and healing.

The conclusion to Rocky and Link's story in this five part novella series. It is not about boxing or UFC, so ignore the covers.

Link does the only thing he can to get to Bates to keep Rocky safe; he goes after Anthony. Of course, Rocky doesn't let him go it alone and soon she comes face to face with the reality that is Link's revenge.

Hopefully, Rocky can keep him from killing anyone else in the name of justice and find himself before it is too late.

Don't get me wrong, I abso-f-ing-lutely loved this series. I know, so what's up with the three stars? Overall, this series is a solid 4.5-5 stars. However, this last piece was disappointing. I knew it was short, saw the page count. It felt shorter. I think I would have liked more epilogue type thing, after the revenge angle maybe more Rocky and Link. The action was well paced, and I liked that the revenge piece wasn't drawn out. I just really felt like it was rushed and if this was all it was going to be, it could have been added to book 4 easily.

The first novella is still free on Amazon and subsequent ones are .99. I guess if you figure for $3.96 total you get a 290-300 page read ; the story is worth that. And now that they are all out, I definitely would recommend them.

4 FIGHTING STARS

Great ending to an awesome series. I really like Cheryl McIntyre’s writing and while this series was different from her other books, it was just as good. I relished its gritty, darker story filled with suspense, revenge, anguish, regret, fear and love. I thought the ending to this sad, endearing and action-packed story was realistic and also satisfying.

My only objection is that I did not want it to end. Link and Rocky are such broken, complex characters with so many more layers. Throughout the series, we saw both of them grow, unload some of their burdens and also break down some of their walls...I really feel there is so much more to these two...so much left unsaid.

Ms. McIntyre, if you're listening, please, pretty please, give us more Linken and Rocky!

Pure. Genius.
I am so sad that this is the last installment in this series. Every single piece of it has been so mind-blowingly perfect, deep, disturbing, hot, and shocking. As I read the last page, literally tearing up--and I won't tell you if they were happy-tears or not--an impromptu wish list started to form in my head. My wish list is short, but I know I'm creating extra work for Cheryl McIntyre with it:

1) I want this serial in the form of a regular book. I want it downloaded as one, beautiful unit on my Kindle, and I want to be able to buy it and hold it as a paperback. The reason being that it's going to become one of those few novels I whip out and re-read when I've read too many I'm not happy with. Because Dirty, simply put, has the potential of giving me goose bumps for years to come.

2) Then, I want a book 2. Yes, the story ended--it ended in the perfect way too--but there is SO much more I want to know about Rocky, about Link, about the future.

So please, Cheryl. More, pretty please. Just more.

4.5 STARS
Whole series review, no spoilers.

”Don't know insanity. It might be our one saving grace.”

Genre: Dark/Action Romance
Cover: 7/10
Writing: 9/10
Heroine: 9/10
Hero: 8/10
Hotness: 5/10
Romance: 6/10
Extra book Details: Approx 50 kindle pages per serial. Dual POV.

This series is hard, raw, gritty, sexy, sad, disturbing, violent, edgy...

I've fallen for these deeply twisted and broken characters. The revenge in the heroes tone, the heroines depths of depravity she goes to just to cope with the day to day, the torment they see reflected in one another.

The series really is a must read. It's full of action and suspense. I never once got bored. It completely sucked me in. I only knocked it half a star because I really could have done with an epilogue or an extra book filled with some romance.

I wasn't sure how this was going to end after the fourth book's ending, but Cheryl McIntyre did an excellent job of wrapping things up in this fifth and final installment of the Dirty Series. I'm happy with the ending, but would love to get more from Link and Rocky.

If you have read Seven Sons and loved it you will also enjoy this one! This is the final so make sure you read from the beginning. A amazing story of revenge, does contain violence, rape and a broken hero and heroine! Well worth the money paid to recommend this. 5 parts in the novella series

WOW! What a way to finish this 5 part series. Fan-damn-tastic!

This pair, Link and Rocky, boy oh boy I love them. It's been a dark and wild and emotional ride but I feel like I can finally breathe ~inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. That second last chapter, though? Holy sheet, I was jumping out of my skin.

The relationship that was building between Link and Rocky lands front and centre, along with the vengeance that's been riding Link throughout coming to a head, and the scene that involved a dirt-bag's family, I thought I'd lose it. Rocky was awesome.

Two broken characters find a purpose, a future, that life is more than what happened to them in their horrible past. Some bad, bad guys are taken down but not without some fight.

I'm scared to read the novel that comes after this series because I don't think I can take it if Rocky has worries and Link has doubts. In my happy place they're in love, happy and at peace. *Sighs. Maybe I can take a peek?
