Love was never in the equation for either Miyori or Johari. Yet one night at the state fair, which was supposed to be just another Friday, became a night they would never forget.
Miyori "Mimi" Young only knew one man her entire adult life. Being young, beautiful, and educated was a gift and a curse that Mimi was all too familiar with. After a life-changing event occurs in Miyori's life, she decides life is too short to stop holding onto familiarity and embrace the new chapter in her life. Out with the old and in with the new, Mimi was moving forward with her life, not taking it for granted. That is until a knock at her door introduces her to someone new.
Johari "Juelz" Jones was on top of the world. He had it handsome looks, wealth, health, and a plethora of women at his disposal until his world came crashing down, forcing his hand. Johari finds a different hustle that won't lead him to death or a cell. He decides to leave the 'Juelz' world behind and focus on becoming Johari. But what happens when a situation pulls Johari back into the life he nearly didn't escape from?
When Miyori runs into Johari unexpectedly, tempers flare, and the chemistry is undeniable. Have you ever met someone that felt familiar to not only you but your soul? But what happens when someone isn't who you expected? When all the cards are on the table, will they decide to gamble on love or pick up their belongings and go their separate ways? The tumultuous journey of Miyori and Johari will lead to one question at the end of it What would you do for love?
This book was good from the beginning to the end. I thought it was so cute and sad at the same time they doing a bad situation, but I love the fact that JoJo knew that she was gonna be his woman, and I like that he put action behind his words and was really consistent when it came to get to her. I hated that Yummi had to go through all that pain and suffering just to find true love but it was beautiful end
Now I wasn’t expecting that! But I couldn’t get enough of these two! And I so hope we get more. They were everything for me! She was a true definition of that’s my man and I’m sticking by him! And I was over here like I know that’s right!
This was a nice quick read. Even though it was organized chaos. Everybody knew everybody. I would like to know how Mimi dated the Ace guy for so many years but not know any of his family. That was kind of strange. Also I get she was young but she wasn’t that young she made a lot of dumb choices and I noticed her excuse for those dumb choices was always well “the liquor was running through me.” I hate to say it but hunny if all it takes is a little liquor to get you in bed that’s not a good look. But I agree with her friend when she told Mimi “she chose to be dumb.” Because Mimi had all the information to make different choices she just chose not to. That man played in your face for YEARS. So of course he felt entitled to you Mimi showed him that there was literally NOTHING he could do that would make you cut him off for real. He always had access to her body, and didn’t have to do much to get it. She kept saying she hated sex toys and didn’t have time to date but you rather a man who disgusted you lay on top of you and enter your body? Not even finding out he was married could stop her from running back. It’s like she didn’t love or respect herself. SMH. Made no sense to me at all. And Jules he wasn’t perfect but he definitely should have listened to his dad. Because he was right about those cousins. It was clear they envied that he was able to get out of the streets and make something of himself. And the fact that your OLDER cousin brought you in to clean up his mess. Blew me. Anyway there were some loose ends. Like we never got a clear answer as to why his cousin was trying to get him to talk about the murder? Or why he was attempting to get in his even though he claimed to still be out of town. Anyway overall this was a decent story.
Johari saved Miyori from getting sexual assaulted. They officially met when Janelle was beating on Miyori door. These chicks were delusional according to Johari and couldn't let go. You didn't see one without the other. Her mother Karen was jealous and bitter of her aunt her sisters/ bestfriends. Abel is like a typical man when he knows he messed up he tries to turn the situation around like she was in the wrong. That's why he tried to to choke her and tried to make her break up with Johari. When finds Abel, he's going to beat him black and blue for putting his hands on Miyori. Remi was on drugs the whole time.
It was good it flows and I liked it until I didn’t… i mean it was great then it just went to rambling goin on and on and the repeating the same thing in different versions was omg so irritating please authors stop doin that especially if it’s the same thing!!! I Just stop reading at about 95% was almost done at 90 now that being said I did like the main couple’s chemistry and vibe and the friend with the girls 31/2 - 4 stars
Man oh man this book was lit from the beginning to the end…One man’s trash is another man’s treasure…Abel treated Miyori like trash and she bossed up on him with his cousin unbeknownst to her and Johari treated her like she was supposed to be treated…I can’t wait for Za’Kya’s book
I love Mimi or Yummi as Jojo calls her! The way they met was scary yet traumatic! Still in all we seen the good in Jojo I wish it more about Remi and what him and Abel were doing. I’m glad jojo’s mom’s side didn’t make him X Mimi out. I can’t wait to read the rest of the gangs story
I saved this book in my TBR list then took it off then put it back on and I’m glad I did. It was definitely worth the read. I can’t wait to read the other books bout the girls and their adventures. I’m mad Ace (Abel) whoever didn’t get what he really deserved cause he needed his tail handles for how he acted but all in all a good book
This was great, but repeating scene word for word in the next chapter was confusing me because I thought we were moving on and it was just retelling it from a different pov. So you read it twice. It’s no indication that it’s the scene being repeated idk. The scene when he was gone 20 days. Then repeated again in Yummi’s chapter. It threw me off a little
That was straight up out of this world love these two had for each other wish we could’ve gotten a wedding and those two babies they wanted lol and I can’t wait to see what happens with kya
Listen this here is a good read. It makes you want to reassess your relationship or situationships… I’m glad Khadijah did her thing on this one. I couldn’t put it down. Go pick it up and enjoy.
Although the environment may present some challenges, the love and passion remain strong. This heartfelt sentiment captures the essence of the experience. Well said, ReneeG.
It wasn't a bad book, but i personally hate when an author tells the same story word for word from the different characters. Like if you weren't gonna word it differently, then one perspective was fine. lol
This was a good book! I gave it a 4 star because I feel the book was a little longer than it had to be. I loved how the book wasn’t just about the FMC or MMC, they gave a little bit of the friendships between the FMC and her friends and the MMC and his homeboys.
