Marked by Temptation was a great novella in the JADE CALHOUN world. It can easily be read as a standalone,especially since the characters are actually from different covens and groups than the main characters of the full length novels. The ending was an awesome 'ah ha' moment that is segueing Angels of Bourbon Street (#4) with Shadows of Bourbon Street (#5) though, and the introduction and meshing of the characters from the New Orleans coven and the Coven Point coven was awesome.
I loved Mati and Vaughn! Mati is a confident, powerful woman and she just so happens to be a sex witch and sister to the head angel of the Angel Council. She's on a classified mission for her sister, and in order to accomplish what she has to do, she must charge up. Enter Vaughn...
Vaughn is the ultimate alpha male. Sexy as sin, confident but not annoyingly cocky, successful, and protective. He's a bounty hunter working for his brother and the Witch Council, but when Mati and Vaughn's gazes connect across a crowded bar, all bets are off. Instant smoking chemistry and the scenes that ensue are H.O.T!
The sexiness of this novella shocked me a bit, I'll be honest. I was used to the more Urban Fantasy Romance feel of the previous Jade Calhoun novels, and this one was *really* sexy. It completely fit the characters, however, and was beautifully written.
I would highly recommend this to all JADE CALHOUN fans, the intrigue and twist was great after the ending of book #4, and I can't wait to see how Deanna ties everything in to book #5.
I also recommend it for any readers looking for a fun, sassy, sexy PNR novella.

I adored Mati and Vaughn together. I truly enjoyed this story; a most entertaining read. If you treasure fantasy romance this is certainly a terrific book for your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review}. In the world of fantasy romance, the possibilities are endless, but always fascinating. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

Somewhere between a 4 1/2 & a 5....
Obviously, there’s a lot more to this couple than the description above, but sometimes a little mystery isn’t a bad thing. I’m sure that there is a longer description out there somewhere, but… oh well.
Being a sex witch may sound like all fun and games, but it comes with a price. It’s hard to get close to someone when you know that you’re using them, regardless of how you feel about them. The women in Mati’s life don’t get tied down for that reason, but it’s getting kind of old.
Vaughn spends his time not being tied down. As a bounty hunter he can’t afford to stay in one place for long. He’s either tracking or trying not to be tracked.
When these two meet, all bets are off. Their attraction toward each other is electric and it’s not just the magic. Well, a lot of it is the magic, but that just makes things more interesting. Mati and Vaughn have their own special hurdles and secrets are uncovered that leave them both reeling. Secrets, mystery, heat, betrayal and even a little bit of mythology thrown into the mix. All things that make this a series that I’m really looking forward to continue.
Reading this book reminded me of why I enjoyed the first book (Haunted on Bourbon Street) in Deanna Chase’s Jade Calhoun series so much. Her characters are witty and smart. The women are strong, determined and talented and the males are about as Alpha as you can get. A great combination. I’m definitely going to have to go back and continue this one as well.

This was a cute story! For me it had the right amount of silly/funny so that I didn’t mentally roll my eyes or check to see how much of it I had to go to get it over with.
The fact that Mati was a sex witch was done nicely--as in she didn’t make her out to be a major slut--but sex was still a big part of her power. I didn’t get about Vaughn till later—I had a good idea—it had a nice twist to it though. (I was definitely not expecting it.)
The setting was done right too! A lot of books use New Orleans as a setting and think to only add the big names, (the Garden District, Café DuMonde, and Bourbon street to name a few) to make it sound authentic. As someone who lived in the area for a few years that just screams “I didn’t really go there and gonna name drop to make it sound good”. Hearing street names other than Bourbon and the number streets for the Garden district made me happy—I know I am weird.
The first book in the Bourbon Street Witches was free so I grabbed it~

This was powerful and amazing it's a must read. I highly enjoyed it
Matisse is a witch (a sex witch).
Vaughn is a bounty hunter who can feel magic but now he is much more.
When Matisse's sister (head of the angels) needs help closing a gateway in to hell a bunch of trouble shows up around town.
The night before she trys to close the gate Matisse goes out to get more energy from a guy and meets Vaughn. They are drawn together and don't understand why or how to deal with.
Right after she trys to closes the gate Vaughn's stepbrother who it with the Witches council hires him to find the witch dealing with demons.
The two are tossed together again only this time it's completely different and outside forces pull them apart.
Wow this is an awesome story with lots twists, turns and mystery. Love the fantastic characters. It had me at the edge of my seat and I didn't want it to end.

Deanna Chase has done it again. This is a spin off novella, hopefully to be a series, from the Jade Calhoun series. Most of the time is right before "Shadows of Bourbon Street" and during.
Trust is never easy and when it feels like it was missed used it is hard to get back. Will these two workout? Can things ever be the same? Read and find out. However, I do recommend reading after Jade Calhoun's fifth book. You get a better understanding of what really was going on with Mati and Vaughn.
We are seeing what happened to Mati and Vaughn by their point of views. Recommended for eighteen or older should to read because of some very hot steamy scenes between Mati and Vaughn. I loved getting to know them better and I would enjoy reading more books about them or even just Coven Pointe. If you enjoyed reading about Jade and Kane you will love reading about Mati and Vaughn.

I love that Deanna Chase is doing a spin-off of the Jade Calhoun series! What is even better is that it is off to a fantastic start!!! Vaughn and Mati are really interesting and have great chemistry! When you mix in a super exciting storyline, you get the great book that you usually get from Deanna Chase. I have a feeling Coven Pointe has a whole lot of really good tales to share with us, and I can't wait to read them! While this is considered a novella, it is just as thrilling as a book, and it pairs up extremely well with Shadows of Bourbon Street. It was awesome reading the events that happened in Shadows from some different perspectives. I also really enjoyed how the story moved between Vaughn and Mati's characters. Really great!

I really enjoyed this novella, it's terrific! It's the story of Mati and Vaughn and the events that lead up to and include Shadows of Bourbon Street (A great book, if you haven't read it!). It's the story of how Mati came to be drained of her magical power and ended up in a void she couldn't get out of. The story is seamlessly told from Mati and VAughn's point of view. A quick, fun read that can definiteyl be read as a stand-alone.

Wow!. I fell in love with Mati and Vaughn in the Bourbon Street Series but I absolutely love them even more now. This is a novella that is about how Mati and Vaughn actually met and kind of gives more details into what happened to Mati in Shadows of Bourbon Street. This book is told in both Mati and Vaughn's point of views. There are a lot of sex scenes in this book which should be expected considering Mati is a sex witch. Anyways this book was amazing, I cant wait for more Mati and Vaughn. I think I may like them more than Jade and Kane now. Wonderful read

I love the Jade Calhoun Series and I'm so happy to see new characters introduced in the last book. This book is about two of those new characters. Matisse and Vaughn. We find out how they met and how their relationship got to the point it did in book 5. The story is written from both characters point of view. So we get a clear understanding of each characters inner struggle and draw to each other. Another great story from Chase!

Marked by Temptation is incredible. I loved reading Mati’s story and how all the missing pieces fell into place with the Jade Calhoun series. It explained a lot of questions I had while reading Incubus on Bourbon Street. Hearing the story from Mati’s and Vaughn’s POV was different and gave the reader a new perspective, especially about the rift between the New Orleans Coven and the family from Coven Pointe.

I Love the Jade Calhoun Series and was excited to see a spin off of the Coven Pointe Coven. I was curious to see what had happened to cause the issues with Bea from the Coven Pointe Books. The fact that I live just blocks from Algiers Point was a bonus. I Loved it from the beining and cannot wait for more of this series.

Deanna is one of my favorites and she didn't disappoint with Marked by Temptation.It was great to get the background of Mati and Vaughn and what led to their introduction in book 5 of the Jade Calhoun series.It was also nice to see some familiar faces.Loved it!

Vaughn is a total asshat and I can’t tell if that’s a new thing or if he always treats women like that.

It’s obvious that he knows about the supernatural world, so why wouldn’t she just tell him the truth? Especially if they are destroying demons in waitress bodies in a cafe. And how does that work exactly? The new waitress just happens to be a demon who knows exactly which cafe they decide to pick for lunch? Did they kill a person and nobody cares?
The men in black arrive, ask questions and leave… and Vaughn doesn’t know who they are. Wtf? He’s a magic bounty hunter and he’s never met these guys before? His stepbrother works for the Witches Council. And btw her sister is the high angel on the same council. How do they NOT know of each other or what Chessa, her sister, is doing?
Oh wait… there’s an Angel AND a Witches council. [could you have called them different names?]
Okay… but she’s born a witch… *frowns*
So does that mean Chessa is a witch or an angel?

Mitch worked for the Witches’ Council, and his job was to bring in witches that were on their radar for some reason or other.
So does that mean Chessa is a witch or an angel?
Chessa would know. She was fifteen years older than me, making her only thirty-six. At the age of eighteen she’d been pressed into service as a low-level angel here in our world. Angels didn’t have a choice. They were born into witch families and were so rare that they worked for the Council or were shunned by the magical community. She’d handled that well enough, but then two years ago, she’d battled a demon and somehow in the fight ended up absorbing the demon’s powers. The experience had made her the most powerful angel in the angel realm.

Marked by Temptation is a spin off from the Jade Calhoun Bourbon Street series so if you haven't explored that yet I highly recommend it.
Mati and Vaughn carried Marked By Temptation all the way. I love how MBT connects the other covens together and brings in a new element to the process of what's been going on, although I do wish we had gotten more back story taking place because so much of this story was carried by the cast to a point that I felt everything else sort of took a back seat for awhile and while that can be good I felt Chase could have really cashed in on the possibilities she'd started but didn't quite bring to light as much as she could have considering this was a spin off.
However, seeing as how its a novella not a full novel I will thank her for the appetizer.
I was happy with our extra steamy on the side of steam we got with our sample of yum, delicious, and scrumptious.
If you haven't read the connecting books to this series Marked By Temptation may come off a tad lacking in several areas if you are uninformed but as for myself despite the shortness in length and plot development I thought Marked By Temptation was great.

More a 3.4 but not good enough I thought to bump it to a 4 for me. Mati and Vaughn, she's a sex witch and he's an incubus, except he doesn't know it until he has sex with her. Turns out that intimacy with a sex witch unleashes his powers. Next they're separated by circumstance and then I'm really unsure why the distance continues after Mati recovers.
The book then turns to them doing nothing together and going about their lives independently. Vaughn is called on to save Mati by giving her the sex witch powers back to get her from another realm. Finally, they're dating and he's joined the Brotherhood with others like him to be a demon hunter. And things are new for her too because she hasn't dated, just a string of one night stands to fill her magic reserves for spell casting.

Mati is a sex witch, one that uses the sexual energy of her partners to increase her magic. Helping her sister cast a spell to close a demon's gate takesa lot of power, so Mati went out to a club for a little pick-me-up. But her latest selection, Vaughn, may not be all that he appears.

For fans of the supernatural, Deanna Chase has it all. Witches, demons, angels, you name it; there's all that and more. Characters you may hate at first soon become the ones you empathise with. The story, being the first in the Coven Point series, spends a lot of time in character development, but there is enough action and suspense to keep the reader engrossed. This wasn't my favorite book in the. Demons & Djinn boxset so far, but it was a solid addition to the collection.

Wonderful Story
I am happy to find put what happened between Mati and Vaughn after their introduction in the Jade Calhoun series. I am looking forward to more books in this series. But, I am not fond of the style of writing where one paragraph is in Mati's point of view and the next is in Vaughn's point of view. Thankfully the same subject material is not covered, the storyline progresses well without overlapping. But the book does not flow seamlessly for me as I have to readjust my thought process about who is talking every time there is a new paragraph.

Sexy adventure
Mati is a sex witch, and the guy she hooks up with, Vaughn, has his own sexual power,so the sex scenes in this book are even more searing hot than usual. The book goes back and forth between their points of view, sometimes overlapping events with the next novel (I skipped this novella by accident and had to backtrack).

Quick down and dirty read. I hadn't heard of a sex witch before, but why not? It worked for the story and kept me interested. On the plus side, sex scenes happened pretty quickly and frequently. No, it wasn't just about sex, there's an actual storyline where our dear sex witch, Matisse, is trapped in the shadow world and needs her magic to be refueled with ... sex.
