Sheriff Eve Wicker never expected the biggest mystery of her past would land on her doorstep years later. After her mother’s death, Eve left the small-town and joined the NSA. Only to find herself back in Chesapeake Valley. While she attempts to juggle her sheriff duties and help her ailing father. She finds herself colliding with the town brute, a man with a dark and traumatic past.
Eve receives an urgent call about a shocking case. A foster home that has been burned down with no survivors. The horrific news sends shockwaves through the once semi-peaceful little town. Who would commit such a cruel act, especially towards children? As Eve tackles the case, her past demons collide with the present.
False leads, a house full of lies, and the most deplorable crime. But truth and righteousness will always prevail.
With the fires of the wicked wreaking havoc without prejudice. The flame of the righteous fosters life and herds evil to face judgement.
The pendulum swings both ways and the day of repentance is here. Come one and come all, the great reckoning has arrived…
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
Eve the new sheriff has a multi death fire that stinks of arson
Eve has reasons to believe that the fire has been set to hide something. Now she has to find out what the secret is. Somehow it is tied into new activities at the mine. The monster is making new noises and has the town upset. She calls on Roman and her father to help her handle the stress now the state is getting involved.
This one was better than the first one, but I really don't like where Roman's character is going. Instead of the macho ex-Marine mountain man, he's turning into a possessive controlling whiner. Also, Ms.Gray should have done her research and realized that anything he may have smoked on his balcony has been legal in Colorado for a long time. I'll give the next book a try and hopefully this series will get better.
Gray's descriptions of this small Colorado town puts one right in the action. Gray is a good writer with great descriptions and pulling readers into the mystery to keep turning the pages.
My only disappointment was that I would have liked a little more romance between Eve and Roman. The romance scenes were very well done.
Eve is the sheriff of the town of Chesapeake valley. A town with a history of secrets and Roman is the tall dark and sexy, her other half. Three kids go missing and finding them is the story, you don’t want to put it down, well written but it ain’t over because the secrets aren’t done being revealed. I hope book 3 is as good. Enjoy the adventure.
I like this 2nd book better than the first. My one complaint about this and the other one is that if you’re going to make up a town in Colorado, pick a name that fits Colorado and do some research about Colorado and the Rocky Mtns. Chesapeake Valley??? That’s someplace back east. Also, there are no grizzlies in Colorado.
I like my authors I choose. I like these stories.c Elle, you do a wonderful job. I love these beautiful, powerful women characters. You are one of my favorite authors now I’ve read the two books in this series and I’ve learned to really love the sheriff.
There's a new sheriff in town, a fatal fire, kids missing
A new sheriff with a past comes to town. A house with foster kids burns to the ground, the kids go missing, there's a lot of evil happenings in this little town!!
The characters Eve and Roman have a different dynamic than most couples in this genre. I love the setting and the plots are interesting and not completely predictable. I am enjoying the series.
The story was interesting and challenging. While trying to find the children I was wondering if it wouldn't be successful. I'm wondering where the children will growing uo.
I follow Elle Gray and will give any of her series a try. I’ll continue with this series. The character development and setting works but something is missing. Maybe the 3rd book will be the one.
So well written and well developed characters!!! The plot keeps moving and twisting and when you think you have it turns another way! Sheriff Wicker has her hands full with a terrible fire, lost children and 'awkward' love life.
This was a great story about Eve and kids n foster care and trying to save them from traffickers. This story had lots of suspense and action. Thank you for a awesome story.

I loved this book. Great mystery full of suspense and intrigue. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens. I highly recommend this book and series.
I’m sorry but this was not a good book. The story wasn’t strong and the characters were difficult to connect with. There were also a lot of grammatical errors and misspellings. Would not recommend.
I liked "Sweetwater Falls" This series is not holding my interest. Rather simple, not engaging!! After reading 2 books I'm going to move on to another book.
Sheriff doesn't get a break. The house burnt down . The owner burned to death , 2 other bodies found but where are the children that were staying in this foster home? Can she trust the lady across the street ? She said she saw the children being lead away while the house burned. Where are they? Who would take them away? Who set the house on fire? Lots of questions read this story to get the answers. This story ends as a cliffhanger can't wait to read book 3. Great job. Thank you.
