My life is crazy. But organized. There are lists. There are calendars. Yes, plural. And there are a hundred Post-it notes lining the walls of my office. But there is order to all of it. There is method to the madness. I know exactly where everything is, what I need to do, and precisely how to do it. My family business has an image we have to convey and it's my responsibility as the marketing director to bring it to fruition. Oh, and I, Lucas Montana, also look damn good in a suit. Then there’s Regan. (Insert eye roll.) She’s crazy in its purest form. Her clothes make her look like a cross between Stevie Nicks and, I don’t know… Bat Girl? She's eccentric. And don’t even get me started on the way she runs her business. We’re complete opposites in every way. So then why, after one reckless night with her, do I feel her particular form of crazy might just be the very thing that’s been missing in my life, not to mention it could be the cure for the affliction that had me leaving four women at the altar. But then, as life tends to do… a curveball comes our way. And even the crazy spins out of control.
As an avid reader of Samantha Christy's work, particularly the Mitchell Sisters series, I approached Crazy Imperfect Hearts with high expectations. Unfortunately, this installment didn't resonate as strongly with me.
The narrative relies heavily on the established world from previous books. While it's marketed as a standalone, I found that lacking prior knowledge of the series left gaps in understanding the town's intricacies and character relationships.
The plot progression felt hurried, with certain developments not receiving the depth they deserved. This brisk pacing led to a sense of missed opportunities, especially in exploring character arcs and relationship dynamics.
Moreover, the storyline seemed reminiscent of themes Christy has previously executed with greater depth and nuance. This repetition, combined with a perceived lack of innovation, contributed to my overall disappointment.
In conclusion, while Crazy Imperfect Hearts offers glimpses of Christy's signature storytelling, it falls short in delivering the compelling and immersive experience I've come to anticipate from her novels. I remain hopeful for future installments to recapture the essence that makes her work stand out.
I could not connect with either of these characters. The only semblance of a personality the fmc has been given thus far is she dresses quirky and is 35 and single.
The mmc is 30 and has left 4 women at the altar. Like life ruining left them not just breaking up.
I'm sure there's some redemption arc but I'm just not getting there.
Life's too short to read a book where I can't care if I turn the page for either of our main characters again.
Good not great. I was a bit disappointed by this book, especially after loving the first two in the series so much. I felt like it was a bit boring, and it just didn’t really grip me. I didn’t really connect with the female main character Regan, and I felt like they sold this idea of Lucas being a spreadsheet guy, but there was only a few mentions of that in the actual book. Didn’t love it. Upon more reflection, I also wished we had more of a backstory and character development of Lucas. There’s a reason he left 4 people at the altar, and it can’t just be “I was meant to wait for you”. That a cheesy cute explanation, but the reality is, there was probably deeper emotional issues that could’ve have been addressed in this book, and that he could’ve overcome.
Where to start. I loved books 1 & 2 so much on KU that I bought the print on demand paperbacks from Amazon. They were fantastic and easily 4 stars so close to 5. This one?… This one was almost a DNF.
For a stand alone book, there was so much history from other series you needed to know it just got boring. Fair enough if you need to have read the previous books from the same series, but not others.
After Mitchell was born, that was a great story. That’s where this book got 2 extra stars. But after he was born also felt rushed. There was too much rubbish before this point. And her ex David showing up was just way to stupid and unnecessary.
Will I read the next one? I really don’t know. Do I regret paying $30 for this one? Absolutely. It will go on my shelf never to be read again.
I have read other series by this author. The Mitchell sisters was great, so was her baseball series. This one, just went so downhill with this one.
Regan and Lucas are 2 unlikely characters who no one would see connecting. Lucas is the handsome millionaire, commitment phobic, runaway groom and Regan is the eccentric hippie, resale shop owner who struggles with her self esteem. They say opposites attract but are they too opposite?
Their story takes a wild turn and both enter in to an agreement that benefits both. Or does it?
I love the real life struggles with pregnancy, intimacy, trust, self esteem, and self worth. Samantha always finds a way to make the reader feel like they are in the corner of the room watching the story play out. Her research to make the struggles with her characters so real is why she is one of my favorite authors.
This book took me by surprise; I went in blind and enjoyed the ride!
Lucas and Regan are not supposed to work, yet they do. Lucas has had four previous engagements and zero marriages. Regan has past issues she is working through, but they decide a “baby contract” is what they need.
There will be no emotions involved!
I love how everything does work out, but tears may have been shed.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Oh wow, I was NOT expecting to have all the emotions for Lucas that I did! Over the course of Samantha Christy’s series set in Calloway Creek, I’ve seen bits and pieces of Lucas, known as the Runaway Groom, for having ditched four women at the altar. Going into this book, I honestly didn’t think that a baby pact story could possibly come close to Dallas’s book… but SC pleasantly surprised me because Lucas and Regan’s unconventional love story was just lovely!
Lucas and Regan were complete opposites and I loved it! She is flamboyant, eccentric, and lives her life flying by the seat of her pants; he literally has jumbo boxes of post-it notes delivered to help him organize his life. Yet he was so out of sorts after their one-night stand and it was adorable. As a serial monogamist, he had no idea how to handle the situation.
I thought SC did a phenomenal job of exploring Lucas’ insecurities and how he knew he was a pariah in Cal Creek. As he and Regan start a secret situationship, it slowly hits him that he never got over his first crush on his best friend’s sister, and then he just becomes so miserable when he realizes he’s trapped in a situation where he can’t tell her the truth.
Two things that bugged me: first, I’m a big fan of show, not tell, and I really wanted to see the reunion scene between Lucas and Ryder. I felt a bit disappointed when that was an expos recap and not an on-page scene. Secondly, as a plus-size woman myself, I appreciate a plus-size heroine. But why did it have to be said over and over again? Yes, Regan’s body shape was important to the story as far as her situation with her ex, and the pregnancy. But I felt like the constant mentions of her size every other page were insensitive and unnecessary.
Despite those two sticking points for me, I thought this story was lovely. I was crying, unexpectedly, by the time I got to the last 25% and just wanted these two to get on the same page!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
I really did not want to like Lucas after knowing what I did from the previous books, but I couldn’t help but fall for him. He really tried to be the opposite of what his small town viewed him as. Lucas and Regan have one night together, that turns into two. Regan has had some past trauma that she is still healing from and decides she wants a baby. Lucas comes to the same conclusion thinking that’s what he is missing in his life also. Then decide to enter a “baby contract” together and takes steps to start a family while keeping feelings out of the mix. Regan is so much fun with her carefree attitude on life which stresses Lucas out. Lucas is such a good guy and when he realizes that he is in love with Regan he wants to end their contact, but Regan becomes pregnant. As the pregnancy grows so does their friendship and feelings for each other, not knowing they both feel the same. He is so patient with Regan while she is standing firm on just being friends, while earning her trust. Without giving any spoilers away the last 20% of this had my emotions all over the place. I cried and celebrated all the moments with Lucas and Regan. Samantha Christy always has so much emotions in her books and this didn’t leave any out.
Two people who are totally opposite of each other, find themselves attracted to each other, despite his very bad reputation. His inability to follow thru with marriage, puts his reputation in question. This story puts in question how to adults can even consider thinking about bringing a child into the world, and attempt to co-parent it together ❤️. Is it even a possibility? Beautiful story, loved it.
There’s lots to say about Lucas Montana. Of course there is when you leave 4 different women at the alter on what is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives. I knew he was going to be an interesting one to read about and he definitely was. One crazy night with Reagan, someone he already and casually knew turned into wanting more of her quirky self. I loved seeing how two very opposite people came together.
Definitely in disappointed in this one considering I loved the other two in the series. I couldn’t get attached to either of these main characters. The FMC was not very likable and we didn’t get enough background on the MMC. I felt like the author walked the line of stereotypes of plus size women in books. I DNFd at 55%. I found myself not caring enough about them to continue.
No way was I expecting this. No way was I prepared to absolutely adore and fall in love with a man that to everyone appeared to be incapable of loving. But I did… I fell and I fell hard for Lucas Montana.
You’d be forgiven, I’m sure, if you started this story like I did. Slightly unsure as to whether the Lucas we’ve read about in the previous books in this linked up Calloway Creek series. I even read the blurb and thought “hhhmmm I’m not sure I’m going to like him enough”. How strange to think that serial commitment phobic Lucas has actually totally won me over.
You can understand why so many women fell for him and agreed to marry him despite his terrible track record. Everything about Lucas ticks every box of eligible bachelor. Smart, successful, charming, witty, sexy, funny and ridiculously caring. The only thing he could do was say ‘I do’.
After almost marriage number four bombed and his ex-fiancée bagged herself another wealthy and mildly famous man, Calloway Creek has all but given up hope of Lucas finding a love that sticks. Even Lucas has sworn never to ask another woman to become his wife. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone else. That was never his intention… he just couldn’t see his life beyond the ceremony.
Then in a drunken moment of self deprecation he ends up being gifted one night with the woman who as a teenaged boy had been his most fervent crush. Regan Lucas. Object of his fourteen year old fantasies. But of course, she knows his reputation. She’s watched it unfold as each jilted bride was left crying into her bouquet. She knows this isn’t forever… it’s just one night… or maybe two.
So, of course it gets complicated but not in the way we expect. Ticking body clocks and mutual needs become a perfect reason for adding more intimacy to their strange, conditional relationship. But when they both get what they want… they realise that maybe their agreement not to fall for each other is going to be more difficult than expected.
However, it’s shared heartbreak and mutually aligned feelings for another person that cements their love for each other… and oh my god it’s beautiful. I have read this book with tears in my eyes, laughed and chuckled through most of it but also felt so many emotions. It’s not sappy or overly romantic. It’s real. It’s truthful. It’s honest. And I absolutely loved it. Lucas Montana… you totally have my heart you beautiful, beautiful man.
And that epilogue!! Flippin’ brilliant. It was everything I needed to know.
Loving these stories so bloomin’ much. I don’t want Calloway Creek to ever end. Well done Samantha…yet again, you triumph.
“I’m going to be there. Wherever and whenever you need me. Always.”
Crazy Imperfect Hearts was unexpected emotional rollercoaster that gave me all the feels. Lucas and Regan were a completely surprising couple yet they were absolutely perfect for one another. I was thoroughly consumed by this story and it definitely touched my heart.
“I think she might be the reason I could never be with the others.”
Regan was a free-spirit who lives life how she wants. After a messy and painful past relationship, she’s worked on accepting herself for who she is, and Lucas accepts her for who she is. Her heart was guarded, but her feelings crept up on her for Lucas. She just had to find the courage to give into them.
“I like waking up to your smile. It lets me know everything is okay.”
I had been anticipating Lucas’ story and he has my whole heart. He was a bit of a joke in his hometown because he kept proposing and then leaving his fiancée at the altar. No one felt right until he spent more time with Regan and remembered his long-ago crush on her. As his feelings deepen, he has to find the courage to give a voice to his feelings and then can he follow through on what he feels or is it easier to live in the shadows of Regan’s life.
“You make me feel more than I’ve ever felt. You make me look at things differently than I ever have. You make…being me…easier and more fun than I ever dreamed.”
Lucas and Regan were the definition of opposites attract, but deep down, they wanted the same things out of life. The journey that they traveled on was full of a beautiful intimacy and shocking passion that translates into a life neither had ever expected, but what they both needed. I loved how they supported one another and how Lucas always showed up. These two did not have an easy road and it’s full of misconceptions and lack of communication, but at the heart is a wonderful, poignant love story. Crazy Imperfect Hearts was such a heartfelt, healing story with absolutely wonderful characters.
Phenomenon I was so invested in this book because I’ve never read about a runaway groomsmen before and let me tell you something it was nothing like I expected let me start by saying your going to want to add Lucas Montana to your book boyfriend list because he did EVERYTHING for Regan and he’s so sweet he was so in denial at first but he came through I love the sibling bond between the brothers! And it was so nice seeing the other characters from the previous books! Especially Dallas 🤭 however Regan wow she stands out like no other like it’s like it’s just her and Lucas on earth they have such a strong deep connection and what they did was so meaningful I can’t say too much because it will be a spoiler and I don’t want to do that! I will say though Regan is a fun quirky character plus all her outfits haha I loved reading them and picturing what they would look like 🥰 Lucas is truly head over heels for Regan and I’m glad Dallas set him straight it took ages but he got their in the end! I can’t belive what they achieved in the book 🥹 The friendship Regan has with Ava & Maddie was so special I want a friend group like that 🥺 I also saw we are getting a standalone book for Ava & Trevor I can’t wait to see what their story is!
Quotes I loved: "Maybe both of us have been waiting for something that's never going to happen. Maybe imperfect is all we get in this life. That doesn't mean it's wrong.”
"When we leave here, I want you to come home with me. Wait, that's not true. I want you to come home with me today. Tonight. I don't want to spend another sleepless night without you. I want you to come home with me today and him to come home with us when he's ready. I want... I want us to be a family."
Tropes: 💜 Small town romance 🍷 Opposites attract 💜 Runaway groom 🍷 Billionaire romance 💜 She’s older (5 years) 🍷 One night stand (Psst it’s not 🤭)
Lucas Montana is the runaway groom from Calloway Creek. After several engagements that ended horrible, Lucas is now determined to only focus on his job and family. But when eccentric, shop owner Regan helps Lucas out after a horrible evening, Lucas soon finds himself intrigued by Regan. Although Lucas has known Regan for years, and grew up having a crush on her, they haven’t really spend a lot of time together for along time. The more time they do spend together now, the more they can’t seem to stay away from each other. And when they agree on taking a big step together, they also agree on being in each other’s life a lot more.
In the beginning of the is story, I must admit I didn’t really get the attraction between Lucas and Regan. It sounded a bit shallow, and I found Regan sudden change of heart a bit strange. But the more I read about Lucas, the more his character began to grow on me. I loved how determined he was to be there for Regan. And I loved how they became great friends, before they became more.
The setting of Calloway Creek was great. I’ve read about the small town in the previous books in this series, and I just love the characters and the fun family dynamics. I also really enjoyed reading about some of the previous main characters from this series.
The romance between Regan and Lucas was different. It wasn’t my favorite, but I really did enjoy it in the end. Their chemistry became better and better and I honestly loved the way this book ended. It was the perfect ending.
Overall ‘Crazy Imperfect Hearts’ was a great read. And I can’t wait to read what Samantha Christy has in store for us next.
I have been waiting for sweet Lucas to get his happily ever after. He's been the town's "runaway groom" for years and that has put a large X on his back. He finds out the last woman he loved and left at the alter has moved on and that makes him spiral one night. His old friend, Regan, is there to pick him up. One thing leads to another and soon, they hook up. She is this carefree owner of a bookstore/boutique in town (and also the teen crush of Lucas). The two of them DON'T make sense in her mind.
They come up with a CRAZY plan to help each other get what they each want, but it's not the easiest road to take. He is a man (secretly) head over heels and she's all business.
I absolutely LOVED Lucas. He is the type of guy you want in your corner when you're going through something or even just every day. Sure, he made some mistakes in his love life, but you come to find out why he may have done all that when he has this ah-ha moment. Then you really start to fall even more for him. Regan beats to her own drum and could care less if people like the music or not. I could relate to her in a way because of our ages being similar then being hit with the "oh crap, I'm this age and I just realized what I want" realization. She tried to build a wall to keep Lucas at arm's reach for her own protection I think. It kind of annoyed me though because that man is the ultimate golden retriever and she couldn't/didn't want to see it because she was too in her own head.
Overall, it was a good story. I love Samantha and her books, but I'm excited for the next installment of this series! :)
Tropes: • Friends to lovers • One night stand • Opposites attract • He falls first • Found family • Small town • Billionaire
Well I will say this one was different. We’ve all read the accidental pregnancy trope but what about an intentional one?? He’s had a crush on her since he was a kid and she knows his reputation as the “Runaway Groom”….i mean the dude left FOUR women at the alter. But, they both want the same thing…a baby.
Regan feels like she’s behind in life since she’s single and nowhere close to having a family of her own. She’s a bookstore/boutique owner and cat mom with a quirky sense of style. Not to mention, a past relationship left her with trauma and with some body and bedroom issues. The last thing she wants is the drama that comes with a relationship, but she wants a baby of her own.
Enter Lucas…this sweet ding-dong knows he can’t commit to any woman, but he wants a family. One drunken night leads to a one night stand which then leads to a different proposal…co-parent a baby as 2 single people. For once, he isn’t playing around.
I absolutely adored Lucas and Regan. They accepted each other for who they were and never asked for anything different. He gave her the confidence and she gave him grace. This story is the epitome of “if he wanted to, he would.” Plus, we love a secure man who doesn’t shy away from problems in the bedroom. And the way he was there for her when their baby was born prematurely and had to go to the NICU?? He may run from his brides but he wasn’t going anywhere without his baby. This wasn’t my favorite in the series but still a solid read that held my interest and kept me wondering how they would come together as a family.
Check your trigger warnings as there were issues during pregnancy, birth and neonatal care.

Book 3 of The Brothers of Calloway Creek: The Montana Brothers
Wow, Crazy Imperfect Hearts, umm, wow! I am speechless after just finishing this story.
Tropes: • Friends to lovers • One night stand • Opposites attract • He falls first • Found family • Small town
Regan and Lucas give us everything in this story.
Regan runs a boutique shop in town that specialize in secondhand clothing, getting donations from town members. Regan is curvy, outgoing, and dresses so out of left field. Celebrating her birthday with friends, she finds herself having a one-night stand with the towns notorious runaway groom.
After four attempts of marriage, Lucas seems to be the joke of the town. He didn’t think he wanted anything but a one-night stand but after being drunk and not remembering, he wanted a do-over, Regan, not so much.
Regan figures out what she is missing in her life and decides to check on sperm donors, she wants to have a baby. After Lucas hears this, he concludes, that is what he wants so they decide to do this together, contract and all!
Lucas didn’t mean to fall in love with Ray and she didn’t plan to fall in love with Lucas but they both did just that. Everyone saw it but themselves until finally Lucas realizes just how alone every other weekend and some holidays would be not only without his son to spend them with but Regan too.
I so loved this story and can’t wait to see what Samantha does with Allie Montana in book 4, Tiny Precious Secrets!

Crazy Imperfect Hearts is book 3 in the Montana Brothers Series. You can absolutely read this as a standalone, however I’d probably recommend reading the series Mcquaids and Calloway since several minor characters overlap as the series are interconnected. This book is the story of Lucas Montana and Reagan.
Lucas , our MMC, has a history of being known to everyone as the runaway groom and it is something he cant seem to undo. Lucas has had a crush on Regan since he was a teenager, but since he was best friends with her brother growing up, he never really acted on it and liked her from afar.
Reagan is the complete opposite of Lucas and is also older. She lives a very chaotic and eccentric lifestyle and inherited a bookstore when her parents retired to Florida. She is struggling to make a good living but loves her small town business. Regan is the complete opposite from the other women Lucas has previously had relationships with.
Everything changes the night of Reagan’s 35th birthday.
They have a one night stand…. Or is it??
They have chemistry and despite their polar opposites they work together. There is a lot of pining as both Lucas and Reagan had feelings but didn’t want to put themselves out there and be let down.
I really enjoyed this book and if you’re a fan of these tropes or her previous series you are definitely going to want to check this one out.
Samantha, I am not sure how you do it, but every time I think the next book can’t be as good, it is even better! I have so enjoyed this series of 3 books, I fell in love with Blake and Dallas. I wasn’t sure I could feel the same way about Lucas, having left so many girls at the alter I thought it would need to be some turnaround to get him in my good books! But Samantha really pulled out all the stops with Lucas and Regan’s story, so much so that in the beginning I didn’t think I liked Regan, I didn’t think she was very nice to Lucas in the way she pushed him away and used him (or rather his body) to make her feel better! I am sure this is probably what Samantha wanted us to feel because it made the story so much better. I was torn between my feelings for them both. I laughed with them and definitely cried with them. I loved the storyline which I won’t give away here! This is a must read, especially if you have read the previous 2 books. This can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order. Blake and Dallas from the previous books play an important part in this story, as do the wider family and friends. Their sister will be the star of the next book so it’s good to catch up with them all through the books. This story is a great read, I couldn’t put it down and read it in 2 days ( getting little accomplished at home 🫢), it had the sweetest HEA, and features an adorable baby. Highly recommended, well done Samantha Christy ❤️
Oh, Lucas Montana…you know this is gonna be good. After leaving not one, not two, but four women at the alter, you gotta wonder where his apparent fear of commitment comes from. Not only that, but the women who all think that they’re the one to change him is rather abundant…so it seems. But now, after 4 jilted brides, he’s become the “don’t touch that with a ten foot pool” kinda guy. Regan is eccentric to put it mildly. The walks to the beat of her own drum & is Lucas’ opposite in nearly every way. She’s never desired a lasting relationship nor a family or children, but getting older seems to highlight areas in her life that others may see as a downfall. While Lucas holds his runaway groom reputation, Regan still finds herself drawn to charisma & charm. Though she has no intention of falling for him, everyone can use another friend. Lucas, on the other hand, brings the saying of “opposites attract” in a whole new light while harboring a mild crush on Regan…the shop keeper who’s chaotic business practice drives his mildly compulsive tendencies insane. One night…that’s all…haha…yeah right. Lucas & Regan have a bond in their friendship that is very unique. Their romance is in no way traditional. But sometimes, being that person one can rely on at every turn can harbor & nurture a deeper affection unintentionally. I loved watching these two grow as a person individually and also together. What started out as a friendship helped them both see their full potential in who they could be.
