This was such a good series. I am so glad I bought them.
The only way I can describe this, is that this book is Ellyana's villain arch. Because damn. I'm still in shock.
The relationship between Ellyana and Dorian was so cute, they really were perfect for each other - their personalities, the way they speak to one another, what they will do for each other. Dorian was so supportive of her in everything. The way he was scared she didn't want him anymore 🥺
My issue with this one was that the plot seemed to back track a bit from the end of book three. At the end of book three, it was made to seem that Ellyana and Galenor had separated and were at the beginning of a friendship, however, this was not really the same in the beginning of book four. Do I know that there would be lingering feelings? Yeah, I guess. Do I think this was just a way for them to have a twins threesome? Yes.
Ellyana's grief was also a bit unclear for me, it just seemed like she was acting a bit weird. I get that she went down an anger/ revenge route, but it didn't really feel like that until Dorian went missing. From then on, though... Damn.
This was really her villain arch. The way she became more and more like Dorian throughout. The way she became very 'touch him and die' - literally. And then the ending! After she had previously had a panic attack at the idea of so much bloodshed and then to decide to do that?! She literally said "fuck it"! I am still in shock.
This series definitely grew on me. By book 4 I couldn’t put it down. I have grown so attached to the characters, by the end of this book I was kicking my feet and grinning
This was an excellent ending to the series, and although it took me a little while to get into the series as a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would definitely recommend this series for a fun, quick read.
Absolutely loved this book! Xandra Noel’s writing style is just brilliant with characters that are so easy to love! I thought Captured was the perfect ending to this series.
