Meh
The story was interesting enough, but I didn’t enjoy the writing style and didn’t get pulled into the story, but rather found my mind wandering off as I read.
I think the story could have been more fleshed out in certain areas and there were certain elements that felt unfinished and some that wrapped up way too quickly.

A really great read and designed to be fast paced where you can’t put it down. It kept me guessing throughout with the then and now chapters. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is a few of the characters made me feel I needed more (detail, connection, understanding).

“But that’s the thing about love, it just changes. You just figure it out along the way, and it grows, and the definition of love—it changes.”
4.5 stars! Told in dual timelines, then and now, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. You don’t know who you can trust and everyone seems to be out for themselves.
And then the twists at the end?! Woah! 🤯 Those last 50 or so pages I was flipping like THEY were on fire (see what I did there?) 😏.
House On Fire not only has a stunning cover and some veryyy destructive family dynamics but is also a wild ride into the minds and hearts of damaged children and abusive parents.
I thank the author so much for sending me her book to read!

Thrilling
This book did not disappoint! I usually figure out many things as I’m reading a story and my favorite books are the ones I can’t figure out the details! I felt
Quinn’s anxiety and her hollowness, her empty brokenness. Then I felt more. That’s all I will say for now. This was very well done. Great read!

Audrey Nottingham's House on Fire is a gripping novel that captivates readers with its fast-paced storyline and clever narrative structure. The book is designed to be a page-turner, and it certainly delivers on that promise. As a reader, I found myself unable to put it down, constantly eager to discover what would happen next.
One of the standout features of House on Fire is its use of alternating "then" and "now" chapters. This structure can sometimes be disorienting, but Nottingham executes it with precision, ensuring that the timeline remains clear and the story flows seamlessly. Each chapter adds depth to the narrative, slowly unraveling the intricate plot while keeping readers on their toes.
Overall, House on Fire by Audrey Nottingham is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, suspenseful novel. With its clever use of alternating timelines and its compelling storyline, it is a book that will keep you guessing until the very end. Whether you are a fan of this narrative style or not, Nottingham's skillful storytelling makes it a worthwhile read.
