I absolutely LOVED this book! I laughed so hard that I cried. It was a real gem. So much fun. I can't say enough about it.

Initially, since I never read the original book (movie or show) that this parody incorporates & was based on (there were a few), I was really concerned that I might not "get" it, I may not like it or I may be confused by it, but it truly didn't matter! It was a great & fun read at face value. After this book, I seriously doubt that I'll ever be able to appreciate the original book (or the other inspirations) after reading this! They will probably pale in comparison. Plus, I'm pretty sure that I'd laugh inappropriately at any parts that reminded me of this hilarious & often raunchy book.

I sincerely loved this book. I was on the edge of my seat, having no clue where it would lead. I truly cared about these strange, quirky & seriously not-so-bright characters with seriously bad names. This book was both extremely funny, intelligent, exciting & interesting. It grabbed me pretty quickly & then wouldn't let me go. It was an interesting & unexpected rollercoaster ride with many unexpected twists & turns. I was surprised many times & couldn't predict what would happen next.

Great, complex characters. Twisted & odd characters & story... basically, just my cup of tea. It was a unique & unexpected ride that I didn't want to end.

Luke Young does it again. Brilliant book that I recommend wholeheartedly to adults who like their comedy/mysteries a bit dark & twisted. Hang on to your seats, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

The first 30% of the book was the best. Nifer is my favorite character and she gave me such a huge belly laugh when she was introduced with that nickname for Jennifer. Officer Halden was pretty funny as a Vanilla Ice wannabe but his shtick got old after a while.

I did start to skim a bit, especially Winnie's diary entries. This ending was satisfying. I wish something similar had happened to the real Winnie aka Amy. Definitely would recommend for those who read the original book.

Luke Young's SO FAR GONE, GIRL had a similar effect as its source material. But while GONE GIRL kept me glued to the pages in shock and terror, SO FAR GONE, GIRL kept me glued to the pages in elated hilarity. From the first line, I was cracking up, and that didn't relent almost the entire time.

Good job, Mr. Young. This satire was a great way to fill a couple hours.

So Far Gone, Girl: A Parody by Luke Young

This is a parody of: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It is the first parody I have read. I really loved this story. It was laugh out lough funny, a bit twisted, but an overall fun read.

Rick hated his wife (Winnie), she disappears and she is assumed dead, and Rick is the number one suspect. But is she really dead he secretly wonders. And if not, exactly what is she up too? Because her feelings for him are mutual (hate).

I really liked Rick Dunce, as odd as that may seem (you have to read the book to find out why!). His twin sister Jennifer, was a real piece of work, but actually I liked her too.(Again, read the book to see why, I never do spoilers). I highly recommend to those who want a good laugh, a perfect beach read!

This book is funny! I started laughing the first page and never stopped. I've read the original and let me tell you, while I was shocked and couldn't stop reading about that crazy wife and the insane thing she did, nothing compares to Luke Young's version. It's still crazy, but in a good way. It was so surreal I couldn't help but laugh. The silly name of the characters, the even more hilarious situations and the characters that are unbelievable..just priceless!
I really enjoyed this story..a great read!

A dark-humored quickie

This book is quite funny and it throws in some Saw scenes as well as characters from The Killing. You don't necessarily have to read Gone Girl to understand this story, but if you have read or seen the movie it makes a lot more sense and the humor is more relatable. I enjoyed this one.

Gone girl has been waiting in my bookshelf for moths now. I will be honest here, i only read around 20 pages of this book.
But although i have watched the movie, i can't seem to enjoy this book or even understand the story, it's just not my type i guess.

I have to start off and say that I wished I would have read Gone Girl Parody: Go Away Girl first. Luke Young did an amazing job with this book! This book will have you laughing your ass off one minute and then it will have you saying… really did she just really say that to him…

Now yes I did read the you know what book by you know who…But I am sorry well not really sorry but I will say that this book is a million times better than the other…Can I say that? I am not sure but what can I say this is my review so I will be honest.

Rick Dunce is my favorite character is this book. I mean yes he is a little off on some things and I did worry about him and his sister there for a minute or two but then he totally redeemd himself in my book. Call me silly, weird, crazy and maybe even a nerd but my favorite part is when we wore a I pooped today shirt…Freaking hilarious… Don’t look at me like that, read this book and then you will understand what I am talking about. I promise!

Winnie is one crazy ass woman. I did still like her though, you know she is one of those character that you hate but then you secretly like her…Yup that is Winnie. She is smart and has or shall I say had a nice ass (lee that part was for you.. your welcome) but she was still a *itch.

I will be honest and tell you that I really hope that this book becomes a movie! Because if it does I am totally going to go see it!
Luke Young you did an amazing job with this book and I wish I would have read this first. Congratulations on such a fabulous, hilarious book and giving me an ending that I wanted and needing!

This whole story is WTF in a good way! both protagonist were on likable, but the woman more. I was rooting for the man even though he doesn’t have any redeemable qualities. it is pretty humorous overall.

I absolutely love this story! It completely sucked me in. I am a big fan of Luke Young, but I think this might be the best yet. I have not read the original book, so this can be enjoyed be anyone, whether you have read Gone Girl or not. I am new to parodies and this has taught me that I like them. I now need to check out the original.

I recommend this parody to anyone who read the original Gone Girl novel. (Don't worry if you didn't read the original you will still find this parody hilarious.) I laughed so hard throughout this whole book. I like that Mr. Young changed the ending too. It's a good read from beginning to end.

I'm not entirely sure Gone Girl really needs parodies of it, as I think the original novel is quite darkly humorous already in its second and third parts, but I suppose parodies are a thing, if you become popular enough.

As for the parody, well, I'm sure this was self-published, as a lot of the comma use was cringe-worthy, and I'm not that great a comma user, myself. Other than technical complaints, the book definitely has its share of misses, with juvenile humor and many elements that could've been funny but largely lifted unarranged from the original. On the other hand, it also has enough to have me chuckling every few pages or so, and even literally LOLing here and there, too. There is also some sarcastic commentary on plot elements from the original book that I didn't think worked that well, and the ending is more satisfying than the original (though that isn't difficult to achieve.)

I wasn't sure what to expect because I have never read a parody before. It is very entertaining, it is wrong on so many levels and that is what makes it so funny. The characters are seriously disturbed, and Winnie's parents are just downright scary. The fact that Luke poked fun at everything including the names...Winnie Bratt and Rick Dunce, lol.


Just like some other reviews I read, I very much prefer the first half to the second. It was a good read, it just felt like it was going on longer than necessary. It felt like one of those movies that was dragging out the storyline. 


Nifer was just wrong on so many levels. Rick was just a loser who was done wrong by a psychotic wife who was raised by extremely perverted parents only in it for themselves. You almost want to feel sorry for Whinny, oops...Winnie, but you just can't.


It was a satisfying read.

This book is raunchy. And that might be an understatement. It is also really funny! I took the time to read GONE, GIRL first, and I think readers of this parody might enjoy it more if it were read with the original in mind. Mr. Young captured the inner voices of the original characters and then took it to a new level of crazy-narcissism. I laughed loudly, and often, not only at the on-the-nose-jokes made but at the inside jokes made - those that were a true nod to the original work.

I think this is a well-done parody and I recommend it to GROWN ADULTS only.

P.S.: I almost appreciate the ending to this parody more than the original. It is simpler and it makes a lot of good sense.

I'm also reading the original but I finished this one today because it's about 300 pages shorter. I enjoyed it. It isn't exactly laugh out loud funny. Wry is the word that mostly comes to mind. All in all, I'd say it's a decent, satisfying parody.
I'll add my favourite quote just so you can get a feel for the general tone of the book.

"Happy Anniversary, Fucktard!"
I turned it to Nifer, and after she read it, she said, "That's so rude."
I know. And politically incorrect."
"That bitch!"

I don't really care for the ending. This is an issue I have with the original as well but for an entirely different reason.

This book is a parody of the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn which I did not know about but after I started reading the So Far Gone, Girl: A Parody it sparked my interest and I went search about to read the description.
So Far Gone, Girl: A Parody is a book with a sense of humor ... quirky!
The story tells us about a bunch of idiots who want to scheming the others, in a psychotic way, or whatever it is.
I kind of enjoyed it!

I had to stop. Couldn't finish it. This was full of bad puns - I just couldn't handle it. My humor is varied, I like Benny Hill, Monty Python, South Park, even Angie Tribeca with great puns, Zoolander, Grandma's Boy! I hate Will Farrel tho, so there you go on what i may find humorous and this book wasn't it.

Great fun!

This was certainly an enjoyable parody of Gone Girl with the Saw movies thrown in for good measure! There were many unusual side storylines like the relationship between brother and sister. And don’t get me started on Winnie’s parents! Hilariously bad!

All in all this was a fun book to read! I recommend.
