K-Quick by Judy Joo offers a delightful collection of recipes from side dishes to desserts and everything in between. I enjoyed the diversity of the recipes, but my principal focus in reading this book was the fact that they can each be prepared within thirty minutes. I am always searching for quick and easy recipes, as I have limited time for making dinner. I don't 'enjoy' cooking either, so I want the task completed as quickly as possible for that reason too. Although completed in thirty minutes, some of these recipes do require a bit of a process, but they seem simple enough in most cases. One slight negative for me is that a few have a long-ish list of ingredients, many of which are Korean/Asian staples but not used in Western cooking. You will likely have them to hand if you cook a lot of Asian dishes at home, but if, like me, you don't, some of these recipes could be pricey, as you will have to go out to search for and buy a lot of things before you can start. Just something to bear in mind for those newer to preparing Asian cuisine. Despite that, there were certainly a few recipes here I'd like to try, though, so I have made a note of those to give them a go soon. I am giving this book 4 stars. Definitely worth a look for K-food enthusiasts.
I received this book as a free eBook ARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
This book is worth it for the apple kimchi alone! Made several recipes all good, all quick. My only gripe would be it’s going to take a couple of hours to make a few banchan before you make an entree. However once made, you’re good for a couple of days, so there is that.
