If you added this to your TBR bc you saw I was currently reading it… ✨remove it✨

I was scammed by booktok, and I’m pretty sure it was by the author. It was hyped up as an enemies to lovers pregnancy trope book. It was not that. It was enemies for a minute, office romance, then agreeing to use his sperm as a donor bc she was in her 30s and wanted a baby.

… why even use his. She was literally seeing specialists about it then was like “oh he volunteered I’ll just Turkey bastor it” made no sense, for someone sold as being smart and successful, she seemed like a derp.

The ending was awful the resolution being her just rolling over and being like “oh ok” naaaaahhhh

Tbh the only likable character in this book was sophie.

Favorite Quotes:

I learned pretty quickly not to bring men home to meet my mother. They usually left shaking and talking gibberish.

I shiver at the thought of my mom serving time in prison. Not so much for her but for the other inmates. They’d all be begging for an early release to escape her.

My Review:

Oh – what - fun! I smirked and giggled-snorted with glee from beginning to end and didn’t want it to stop. The storylines sparkled with wit and insightful humor, eccentric and unexpected family situations, unusual yet engaging predicaments and storylines, and a delightfully complicated office romance. I adored all these unique and authentic characters and am eagerly anticipating the next installment. Carrie Elks has outdone herself with this one.

❤️‍🔥5 PROFESSIONAL STARS❤️‍🔥

I think Carrie Elks has become one of my fav authors thanks to this book. I read it in one day without breaks (just to eat and work lol) because it was THAT good and easy to read.

It had it all. Really funny (I cackled quite badly several times), with lots of romance, tension, sexual tension 😏 and more! It had the elements I like in a rom com but with its own special and exquisite flavor. It wasn't instant lust that developed into romance, or cheesy romantic tropes, but it was more.
Myles and Ava's relationship develops in a deep way, with light-hearted banter and beautiful chemistry that never seems forced, the author never shoves feelings or emotional baggage on the reader, but mental health is addressed perfectly. Also, it never feels like their bond is driven majorly in shallow physical attraction, and that really pleased me.

There isn't much steam (take into account that I usually read incredibly steamy books) but it's completely worth it. The few scenes we get were hot and made me blush like a virgin.

Another little thing that I really liked about this book is that the female character is 36 years old and she's never treated like she's less desirable, miserable or an old hag because of her age. A women getting older than 30 is really stigmatized in this culture, but we see Ava is a successful, beautiful and happy normal woman who wants to achieve her own goals and doesn't think she needs a man to be happy, unlike other female characters from rom-coms.

If you like:

💕 Forced Proximity
💕 Enemies to lovers
💕 Co-workers in compromising situations
💕 Sexy talk
💕 Sweet lovable characters (seriously, I couldn't hate a single relevant character in this book)
💕 HEAs

Then this is your book.

Congratulations Carrie Elks, you really did it with this book and you've won an important piece of my bookish heart, and I'm desperate for the second book. 5 ⭐️

Myles’s father remarried several times and all his ex-wives are friends except for the first one. Now he has 4 or 5 younger brothers.

Myles and Ava had interesting relationship… she’s 36 and he’s 43… she’s trying to get pregnant so he offers to help her. This story was meh.

“What are you wearing?” He asks

“Maybe you should look where you are going.” She says

“Maybe I should. Or maybe you should think twice about walking through the city in underwear.”

When getting disappointed by real men was not enough I choose a fictional man today :)

Entertaining (but also a little ridiculous), this office rivals romance felt like it was strongly influenced by two of my favorite books - The Hating Game and The Spanish Love Deception. Which is good, because I loved those books... but there were also perhaps too many familiar components. That being said, this spins the office rivals situation in a whole new direction, with older leads (36/42) who find themselves making a baby together. When the co-worker you love to hate becomes your new co-parent, it certainly adds a whole different dynamic to the relationship. There's a lot that I liked about this, from the misunderstood, grumpy hero, to the unique take on the trope and the upbeat vibe. I loved trying to figure out where the story would go next. But I did get whiplash from how quickly they went from enemies/rivals to "let's make a baby together" and love - it misses on the subtler moments and transitions, but wins on the light and sexy tone.

The story follows Ava, a woman who is ready to have a baby on her own. She's 36 and single, so now is the time if she ever wants to get pregnant. But just as she makes the decision, Ava's work life gets turned upside down. After their companies merge, Ava is forced to work with Myles, a man who rubs her the wrong way. Their first meeting didn't go well, and things have been rocky between them ever since. So it's a shock to them both when Myles offers to supply the... ah, baby batter... for Ava. Office rivals don't typically make a baby together - even the non-traditional way - and Ava still isn't sure that she even likes the man. But spending time together outside of the office changes their whole relationship, and it's not long before Ava is seeing an entirely different side of Myles.

I can tell that Elks was going for a "he falls first" vibe (which I love), but the execution wasn't quite as successful as it is in some of my favorite romances - the little swoony moments didn't make my heart flutter, if you will. It's entirely possible that other readers will have a different experience. But I really enjoyed the light and sexy feel, I never complain about office rivals, and I found Myles to be super endearing. I loved the way they both complemented each other and related to each other so well, and their ages added an interesting element to the story. This definitely could've dug a little deeper, and I think it would've been a stronger book if it had - Elks spends time establishing Ava's dislike of Myles, then BAM, they're having a baby together. We get little peeks that Myles might feel a certain way about Ava, but it never really goes there. Their office relationship is only briefly explored. For me, that's where this falls short, but I think a lot of it is great and I enjoyed the journey. It was a solid introduction to this new-to-me author, and an intriguing series starter.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either 😴😞 Interesting premise, although one that I had to suspend my disbelief for. Just as I had to suspend it when characters' ages were introduced (Ava and Myles acted more like they were in their mid-twenties, not late-thirties/early-forties).

Overall? Heat and banter were on a pretty good level, but that ending was chaotic and just not the best.

P.S. pleaseee stop with this "he or she, his or her" nonsense in every other sentence, just use THEY/THEM like normal people, I beg you 🙄

And we have finished the last book of the year!!!
And I have to say it was a good way to end the year.

Nothing better than a short cliché romance, with a very fluffy story full of cute moments!!

We have two main characters that are used to everyone depending on them, and never asking for help, and you know how that goes they don't have to be a burden for each other. I think we have that as a connection but also some character development.

The chemistry between Ava and Myles like I said it was a very cute, and cliché "enemies to lovers" office romance.... And what could I say the author gave everything necessary for that to happen!

I loved all the chaotic vibes of the Salinger family and their dynamics was insane to understand, I'm excited to say if we will see more in the next books, if I read them someday 🤭

Myles and Ava—what a delicious enemies to lovers story. Two people so similar yet unable to see the attraction between them until one night when a simple offer changes everything. How they look at each other, how they feel. When it turns out they were never really enemies, the sparks fly, the romance heats, and the emotions explode. Loved the banter, the story and the HEA! As usual Ms Elks delivers a book that makes me smile.

A poorly written book with characters who have basically no personality apart from the constant mention of their physical attributes. If you are looking at reading an erotica, give it a short, otherwise this is a hard pass.

"Myles," I say, opening the door to see him standing there, his expression serious, his eyes blazing.

"If you want a baby, I can give you one."

What You'll Find:
✔️Office Romance
✔️Opposites Attract
✔️Enemies to Lovers
✔️Sunshine Grump
✔️'I Hope We Made A Baby'
✔️Sizzling Steam
✔️Charm & All The Feels
✔️Dual POV

"I hope we made a baby," he whispers, and it makes my chest ache.

I was scrolling bookstagram and I saw a reel from the author with this very quote, and it HAD ME. Making a baby storyline, yes please! I'm a goner. So I immediately downloaded this book and quickly devoured it. I absolutely loved it.

It's opposites attract, office romance. A heroine whose clock is ticking so she's just going to have a baby on her own. And when the hero finds out, he offers up the goods. And I just loved seeing their relationship develop from enemies to friends to lovers. There is so much great chemistry and tension. Some sizzling steam. And just so many tender, heartfelt moments. Complete with fun charm too. It was just all the feels I was looking for!

This was a first read for me from this author and I am so intrigued by these brothers! I'm looking forward to this series continuing! I feel like this book is seriously (unfairly) underrated... so if this type of storyline is your jam, absolutely check this out! One of my favorites this year!

I don't know how to rate the book, but I really enjoyed it. I laughed so many times. Also it was the first romance I read that included the pregnancy trope, and I liked it.
The whole story was really funny, and it felt easy to me, so much so that I read it in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down.

The only critic I have is that the characters are in their mid thirties and mid forties, whilst the way they were acting made it feel like they were in their mid twenties.

Epah…. ADOREI!!!!

Epah adorei!!! RECOMENDO !!!!!!

I devoured this!

Loved this feel good romance! It was bite sized, incredibly funny and the perfect amount of spice. I devoured it in a few hours. I came across the series on tt and gave it a shot, well worth the read. I needed this. It was low angst and kept you interested I’m excited to read the other books in the series. It looks like it’s a standalone series, where all the brothers get a book, and the characters are intertwined going forward.
