Too brief

It is too brief to be useful. There are gross inaccuracies i.e. Bolivia was not part of the Viceroyalty of Nueva Granada. It didn’t exist until after independence. Although San Martin declared Peru’s independence in 1821, independence only occurred in 1824 after the spanish defeat in Junin and Ayacucho by Bolivar’s army.
Latin America is older than the USA and very vast and diverse. It would have been better to try to cover it in 3 or more books and give it the detail it deserves.

The book starts with the colonization and colonial era. The rise to independence and the leaders of that follow. The evolution of nation creation, wars ,insurgencies, and dictatorships follow that. Modern changes, dictators, and disappearances run through the past century, as well as invasions and interference from the US.
