Nancy, my neighbor, my new friend, a poet. She definitely succeeded in touching upon all three 'w' words in the subtitle - wit, wisdom, and especially whimsy. I'd add "wonder" as another descriptor. I especially like those that have an element of scripture, of spirituality.

My favorite:

Crowded, but Green
Psalm 92:12-15

It's getting close
in these two rooms
what with two full-grown
trees, him - a cedar,
me - a palm.
Originally from two different climes,
we've blended and now
get along well. Our roots
go through the floor,
possibly with consequences
to the people living below
us, but they don't complain.
Our branches reach toward
the sun streaming through
the windows. They intertwine.
Fruit litters the floor,
manages to stay fresh, ready
for consumption. Our color
scheme is all shades of green
with pops of red, yellow, and orange.
Yes, the rooms are crowded,
but the scent is delicious,
and the air clean, wholesome,
and full of light.
