TV news reporter Bekka Douglas has such a nose for news that she beats the competition to the story every time. Well…it’s not so much a nose for news as it is psychic visions, showing her the crime. This time it’s a young nurse who was brutally murdered. Aided by her visions and her sources, Bekka doggedly pursues this latest story. Only this time, she could end up being lead story herself.
Breaking: Visions of a Murder is a suspenseful, realistic murder mystery with interesting characters who are as sympathetic as they are flawed. Bekka’s mother is bipolar. Bekka, who feels obligated and frustrated, fears her visions could be a mental illness. One of her main sources is a detective she once dated. He’d like to be closer, but she keeps him at arm’s length. The victim, the nurse whom everyone loved, moonlighted as an online sex worker.
The story is well-plotted and well-paced, moving at a fast clip to keep the reader engaged. The ending surprised me. I didn’t know who the killer was until it was revealed.
If you enjoy suspenseful, authentic murder mysteries with strong characters snap this one up. I loved it.
