What if gruesome crimes played out before your eyes?

In the hectic streets of a medium-sized American television market, journalist Bekka Douglas dances on the edge of destiny. She dreams of working as a reporter in a major city but is tethered to her reality by two unyielding anchors.

One, her mother, a soul cloaked in the shadows of bipolar disorder, relying on Bekka's unwavering presence for solace and support. The weight of care rests solely on Bekka's shoulders, a duty she carries with love yet burdened by the sacrifice it demands. There is also a second burden in the murky depths of Bekka's mind where tangled threads of fate unravel. Visions, mysterious and haunting, unfurl before her, painting macabre tapestries of crimes unfolding. A peculiar gift or a sinister curse, these flashes propel Bekka into the heart of darkness, uncovering secrets that clamor to be told.

TV news reporter Bekka Douglas has such a nose for news that she beats the competition to the story every time. Well…it’s not so much a nose for news as it is psychic visions, showing her the crime. This time it’s a young nurse who was brutally murdered. Aided by her visions and her sources, Bekka doggedly pursues this latest story. Only this time, she could end up being lead story herself.

Breaking: Visions of a Murder is a suspenseful, realistic murder mystery with interesting characters who are as sympathetic as they are flawed. Bekka’s mother is bipolar. Bekka, who feels obligated and frustrated, fears her visions could be a mental illness. One of her main sources is a detective she once dated. He’d like to be closer, but she keeps him at arm’s length. The victim, the nurse whom everyone loved, moonlighted as an online sex worker.

The story is well-plotted and well-paced, moving at a fast clip to keep the reader engaged. The ending surprised me. I didn’t know who the killer was until it was revealed.

If you enjoy suspenseful, authentic murder mysteries with strong characters snap this one up. I loved it.
