Blade's End

It's all coming to a bitter end

Kit and her lover, Damon, the Alpha of the Southern Cat Clans, are hot on the trail of Madae, an ancient entity that has haunted Kit’s people through the ages, stealing and discarding bodies once she's worn them out.

Kit was supposed to be the next target, but she proved to be tougher than Madae expected. As both an act of revenge and expediency, Madae went for the next nearest of kin, Kit's cousin, Doyle.

Earth-shattering truths are revealed and secrets laid bare, including secrets that threaten the love between Kit and Damon, and their very lives.

They're determined to find Madae and save Doyle. But will those secrets drive them apart? Will those secrets drive them mad? And when they find themselves confronting not one ancient evil, but two, will Kit and Damon be strong enough to save Doyle? Or will one of them pay the ultimate price?

PLEASE don’t let this rating stop you from reading this series!! The problem that kept this book at three stars for me is resolved now that the series is finished, so I would highly recommend it! Because…. It is the huge gaps in publishing each installment that kept me from truly enjoying the overall. Let me explain:

I began the series when it first published (2012 or so?). The first few books came out at regular intervals and I was absolutely hooked. It is really that good. Then suddenly, right in the middle of the action, the books stopped coming, for FIVE YEARS!! Yep. I looked and looked over that loooooong period of time but nada. Then, finally, book seven published. I was ecstatic and immediately re-read book six, so I would be able to dive in and still remember.

That book ended in a cliffhanger-type climax with the arc pretty much up in the air. Then…. We waited another two years for the finale. (Now these books aren’t tomes, they are normal 300 or so pages). This book does a fabulous job of tying up all the threads from all the books and leaving us with a wonderful closing. After 13 years, I just can’t remember what all those threads were! remember the characters, but not the specifics. SO… I was confused and frustrated throughout the majority of the book.

See? Anyone beginning this series will have no worries! They will be able to thoroughly enjoy an amazing UF journey and close that last book deliriously happy. For those who have been reading along? Well, you better make time for a quick re-read of ALL of the books if you truly want to smile and sigh at a finale very well done.

Ends on quite the teaser.

The trials of Kit Colbana are.finally resolved in this book. To achieve peace and rescue Doyle she will have to return to where her story began, Aenerin Hall, hidden on a mysterious island in the North Atlantic. Kit will not be alone in this final battle, her lover Damon will not let her.out of his sight and there are a few other allies ready and willing to.provide whatever help Kit may need. But...............when all is said and.done will everyone survive intact and does the past ever truly let go............. I am.sorry to see this series end but hopefully in the future we may revisit.some of the characters, like Doyle for example...........

All of the secrets of Kit and Damon's past have been revealed and they are set for their happily ever after. There were some questions that weren't answered- like what happened to the Amazons and Aunt Rana and did the situation with Rana and Doyle get resolved? I understand this book was hard for her to write there were some things left undone.

This one really brings this series to a close in a good way. I was amazed at the history we learned of Kit and Damon. Also what they learned as they searched for Doyle. Things were iffy at times, but in the end they did what they needed to, to make sure they and their people were safe. Nice to see everyone happy at the end.

A satisfying conclusion for this series, which by the way I have reread at least half a dozrn times, Wonderful and creative action scenes. Very satisfied that the main relationships survived (especially Demon - oops, sorry - Damon).

Emotional

I see that reviews are mixed on this final book of the series. All I can think is that some readers were in denial of the anguish that the characters constantly fought. I was captivated as they suffered through memories and physical pain and then found closure.

I love this series

I love this series. It is complex in the story building. Lots of twist and very good. I await the next book.

My Thoughts

From its first book this series drew me in and the more I read about Kit the more I wanted to know.
Book 8 completed her adventures and truly laid to rest many outstanding questions about Kit and her traumatic past that we readers had not been privy to yet.

The same goes for Damon as well as his backstory was also addressed in more detail before the story was over.

What I have loved the most about The Colbana Files series is how in each one the way in which we are given pertinent information on each main character ties them together more and more as Kit unearths more truths from her past.

Book 8 takes all those tidbits and finally fills in blanks even this fan of the series had given up hope on.

I am going to miss this fictional character group but after all the years spent with them glad their finale came in a manner that was more positive about the future since they earned it with blood, sweat and tears many times over.
