She’s sceptical about blind dates, and he’s convinced she wants to bail.
Arianna was finishing her work day when her office friend, Megan, aka the Matchmaker, presented her with a perfect blind date. Uncertain, Arianna arrives at the coffee shop to meet the mystery man and gives him two minutes to show up, then decides to leave.
Jonathan enters the coffee shop, and a woman bumps into him, spilling coffee over his shirt. A quick apology from her, and she realises she’s his date. Ouch. She feels embarrassed and apologetic. She couldn’t even give him five minutes’ grace.
She buys him a coffee to make up for his coffee-stained shirt, and they hit it off. She’s funny, he’s interesting, and the date is going well until members of the Mish Mash Historical Society take over the coffee shop, and their evening turns into something amazing.
A Coffee for Two is a sweet, blind date romcom featuring witty characters dropped into a hilarious situation. The author uses British spelling.
I never thought I'd be hooked on books like this, but here I am grinning like a goofball while reading. This was such a ridiculously cute story. Arianna and Sebastian will make your heart do the happy dance. This was the exact palate cleanser I needed. Check out this adorable little book!

A very cosy and humorous novelette about a date in a coffee shop with quite interesting and relatable characters.
The story is generally well-written, easy to read, cute, sweet, and quite funny, especially the parts when the historical improv club, of which the owner of the coffee shop is a member of, added some really quirky elements to the date.
I enjoyed this rather quick read a lot and my only gripe with it is that it wasn't any longer. I would have read and enjoyed another 81 pages of this.

Arianna Hodges was busily working on her spreadsheet, enjoying her task of bringing harmony to the numbers. She paused when her friend, Megan Cooper ("the Matchmaker") showed up at her desk telling her she needed a break. As proof, Megan pointed out the latest date on her spreadsheet... "April 32". Arianna had to agree at that point, but rather than go out as Megan suggested, she figured she would go home and do some cross-stitching. Again Megan provided "proof" that she needed to go out for some fun by claiming she counted numbers at work and counted knots at home, which is not the way to get away from numbers and have fun. Then she announced that she had found the perfect blind date for her, much to Arianna's dismay. After breaking up with Ryan a year ago, Arianna definitely did not want another annoying man in her life. But Megan had already set things up for her.
Arianna doesn't particularly want to meet a blind date, so she arrives at the coffee shop and allows him only 2 minutes to appear or she will leave. Rushing to the door with her "to-go" coffee to make her escape, she bumps into a man and spills the coffee all over his shift. Sebastian Mitchell has just entered the coffee shop when a woman soaks him in hot coffee. He reassured her that he takes his showers hot so he was okay, and she had to laugh. She buys him a cup (for drinking purposes only this time) and a sandwich, and they actually find themselves enjoying each other's company. The fact that he loves to cook is a big plus! Could this be the first perfect date she has ever experienced? Or is something about to change everything for both of them (not counting the next cup of hot coffee that gets spilled on his lap when the Mish Mash Historical Society crowds into the coffee shop for their meeting)? Don't miss this one. The characters are wonderful and will draw you right in!
It is a blind date, literally? A blind date.. Let's not expect much.. But what if it goes well? ✨
Plot: A blind date is set by office colleague and now just a cup of coffee, which is definitely not a big deal, has become an event filled with so many things that are weird and spreading happiness in its own way...
Genre: Blind Date, Forced to meet
Highlight: +Character description (and development!) +Support of friends +Miss-Mash Historical society
My experience: It was a quick snack that I truly enjoyed and would definitely want everyone. It's a must read.. ✨ I mean, the idea of blind date in current times sounds scary and weird and a lot more..IYKYK.. However, this book with a simple plot gave a prespective that goes unacknowledged by most of us. It's like, yes you don't know the person but it's both of you who are equally scared and it's definitely not easy. When you try you can always get your answers, so at least try before being eager to go away and think it's all bad. Lastly, one of the most beautiful aspect was the support of the ones around you, them checking in on you and taking responsibility for the date that they arranged for you. I genuinely liked that accountability, affection and check in from Megan and Paul.

This delightful novella unfolds almost entirely in a coffee shop, focusing on Arianna and Jonathan during their first date. While it begins like a classic romance, the café soon fills with an eccentric cast of characters. Will their date survive the distractions and chaos, or will it fizzle out?
I don’t usually read novellas, so I was skeptical about whether this one could deliver a complete story in a shorter format. To my surprise, it did. Though the characters do lack extensive backstory, the engaging writing kept me riveted to the unfolding events. At times, I worried the plot might feel repetitive, but I was quickly charmed by a clever nod to that very notion—a playful reference to "Groundhog Day." It felt like the author was winking at the reader with a cheeky acknowledgment.
Overall, this novella is charming and easy to read. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys cozy romance with a good dose of humor.
A special thank you to the author Renee Gendron for the digital advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a super cute and sweet novel about a date that is pretty much in a coffee shop the whole book. This book stars Arianna and Jonathan. It's their first date and when in the middle of drinking (and eating) chaos starts happening. It's a sweet and fast read. When I started reading this I was fairly skeptical because I don't usually read romance books that are in third person, but surprisingly I actually enjoyed this novel a lot. The writing was exceptionally written, and it was so fun and nice to read. I haven't read a book that consists over a short time, and it was a nice refresher. I really liked this book, the writing was great. A huge thanks to Renee Gendron the author of this book for the digital ARC, also a big thanks to LibraryThing for providing this book. Overall, a very enjoyable read. Perfect read to curl up by the fireplace with a mug in hand. 5/5 stars :)
This novella was entirely based inside a coffee shop, which I wasn't expecting, but it gave an interesting atmosphere to the story. I don't know that I feel that premise helped the story at all. The character development seemed a little lacking and the story dragged a bit at times. Plus, I was a little confused at what time of day it was during the story as I had thought it was lunch but then it was lunch again later... It felt rather "Groundhog Day"-esque, which may have been the vibe the author was going for but it just didn't execute quite correctly. It was good. I liked it. But I don't know that I can give it more than a 3.

An excellent start to the Megan the Matchmaker's Brilliant Blind Dates series. It is a sweet rom-com featuring witty characters in a hilarious situation. The story follows Arianna, a skeptic regarding blind dates, who is set up by her colleague, Megan. When Arianna attempts to leave her date early, she accidentally bumps into Jonathan, spilling coffee all over his shirt, only to realize he is the man she was meant to meet. Despite the awkward start, they quickly hit it off. Their evening takes an unexpected and amazing turn when members of the Mish Mash Historical Society take over the coffee shop. I found this story well worth reading and highly recommend it. Please note that the author uses British spelling throughout.I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I give this novella 4 stars
I really liked this novella. It was a cute story that had some interesting points. The Mish Mash Historical Society sounded like a hoot and I'd be interested in the set up and rules for it. I would read more about Jonathan and Arianna. This is light and fluffy and just a nice little slice of life story.
I would definitely recommend to others, especially if they want something short, sweet and fun.
In this first installment of Megan the Matchmaker's Brilliant Blind Dates, Megan sends reluctant coworker Arianna on a blind date at a local coffee shop. When the coffee shop becomes the meeting place for a local improv history group, the two find themselves falling for each other as they lean in to the hilarity surrounding them. Short, sweet, and funny, this novella is a lovely bite-sized romance.
This was a delightful and refreshing take on romance. The writing was well-crafted, and brought a sense of warmth and authenticity to the story. The characters were engaging and felt genuine, with interactions that were both heartfelt and relatable. Their chemistry keeps you invested, making it a satisfying, enjoyable read from start to finish.
I wanted a break from the heavy reading I'd been doing lately and came upon this charming and fun novella in which the author got me engaged right away. The sequence of events during a blind date, set up by friends, contained an interesting plot with fresh dialog and unusual circumstances driving the action. I look forward to the next story in the series.
And so unexpectedly adorable! I don't think I've ever read a book that the entire thing was just one date but I'm glad I have now. It is short but latte macchiato sweet
