Emma Cole has had a rough life. She’s a deaf mute on the run from her family. Rayne Golden’s flower shop is as good a place as any to blend into the background and remain anonymous. In her silent world she has no friends and wants to keep it that way. She especially doesn’t want the attention of the huge handsome man claiming to be her mate.
Brock Golden is a Weretiger and the streak’s enforcer. From the moment he sees the beautiful, petite, Em Cole, he’s pretty sure he’s found his mate. He just has to touch her to be sure. When he does his tiger isn’t the only one to respond. His beast does as well. Brock isn’t like his brothers―he harbors a dark beast. A beast he can’t control. A beast even Ryland has trouble reigning in.
Brock will do anything to protect his golden beauty―even taking on a nest of vampires. This group is on a killing rampage, and even their friend Peter isn’t sure if the streak is strong enough to stop them. Will the force of the streak be enough to protect Em? Can Brock reign in his beast and not harm the ones he loves?

'Brock' is the fourth book in Kathi S. Barton's "Golden Streak" series and this is one I've been waiting for since I started this series. We’ve had a few glimpses here and there of Brock and his personality but Ms. Barton finally gives us the full picture this time. Even though he's always seemed fairly laid back and had a great sense of humor he's the enforcer for the Golden streak. If you're read the blurb then you'll also know he's not only a weretiger like his brothers but he also has what he refers to as his beast and it's difficult to control. Even Ryland as the male of the streak has a difficult time calming the beast when Brock loses control. Rayne has hired a young woman named Emma, aka Em, Cole to work at The Pretty Flower 2. She's a hard worker and has caught on fast, she just can't speak or hear. That normally isn't an issue as she always carries around a small notebook and pen so she can communicate when she needs to. Except for a customer who thought she was ignoring him took offense and grabbed her when he thought she was ignoring him. The incident has the customer ready to sue and Em ready to quit so that doesn't happen. When Brock is asked to swing by the flower shop and check on the situation he discovers she's his mate. Em has been on the run from her family. They were converted to vampires and are under the impression Em is going to become the daywalker to her father and three brothers. These males are ruthless in their narcissism. They've already had Em's mother committed to an institution because she tried telling everyone they were vampires and Em herself has been put through enough mental and physical pain to last several people's lifetimes. The Golden's vampire friend Peter gets involved and the situation opens up a bigger can of worms. This is an exciting book with all the mystery, drama, wonder, and chemistry I've come to love about Ms. Barton's stories. Jules' story is next and I can't wait.

Deaf and mute, Emma Cole has been treated inhumanely most of her life. She doesn't trust easily and she is will aware of the things that go bump in the night. When she inadvertently decks a customer at the floral shop that she works at, she fears that she will be fired. However once she is introduced to the owner, she is accepted into a life that she isn't quite sure what to do with.

Brock Golden is pleased his brothers have found their mates, he teases them relentlessly about it but doesn't plan on finding his anytime soon. Of course then he meets Emma, she is frightened of him initially but he plans to win her over. Brock is not just your average shifter though, he has an inner beast that fiercely wants to protect and mate with Emma and when she is threatened all hell is about to break loose.

I was eagerly awaiting this story, Brock seems to be the bad boy out of the bunch. I liked this story quite a bit, I found Emma to be fascinating. I do wish their was a little bit more to the story in the aspect of developing the relationship between Brock and Emma, it was fairly quick before she was willing to accept Brock. Another entertaining addition to this series.

Brock by Kathi S. Barton

We meet Brock waking up to being drug and between two women and the story begins. We met Em at the flower shop being accused of being rude to a consumer. A great start to the storyline in this book . And it just gets better. Love, drama, tigers, vampires these are some of the what you can expect.

I like this 1 the best so far in the series and the others I have read bi Ms Barton. I think its the mix of all paranormals that are in the book. I would like more stories of this couple/family. Hoping for a spin-off

I honestly loved every page of this story I am a big Kathi Barton fan. In the previous books, you get little glimpses of him. The new twists are really interesting and I am really intrigued by the bits of information Ms. Barton lets slip little by little. Can't wait for the next one.

I was so excited to read about Brock. In the previous books, you get little glimpses of him and he seems like a laid back character and has the humor to balance out his more serious nature.

With Brock being the enforcer of the streak he tends to be more protective of what is his than his brothers. He also has another part of him that seems to only calm when Emma is with him. But with Emma's family determined to bring her back the Golden family will be facing the messes left behind from a previous family problem.

Emma is leery around males, especially vampires. Being a deaf mute she sees herself as a freak and finding jobs to hold her over tend to be more complicated. But Brock makes her feel things no other male has and the other Golden's are determined to protect her as one of their own.

I didn't really like the incest part of this book. I think there would've been better ways to show how deprived the males in the family were without having those scenes. Any time it showed any point of view from either the father or brothers I did skip around because I felt that all I was reading over and over was about rape and killing. I think it just went a bit overboard.

**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**

From reading the other books about the Golden Streak we know that they are pretty special. However, Brock is an enigma as he is something more. Having more then one animal sharing his body he has little control over the "Beast" as he calls it and worries he will lose control completely. He is a big man, the enforcer of his streak and can be a bit scarey at times. Emma can not speak or hear, traumatize by her brutal family she finds solace in Rayne's flower shop. When the big scarey man says she is his mate she just knows things are about to get bad. It is amazing the characters that Ms. Barton comes up with to complement her main men. Each seems fragile at first but raised to the occasion when called upon. The storyline is getting more intense as the series continues and some interesting things have come to light. We get to see more of Peter in this story and learn more about his history also. I really enjoyed this story and like seeing the family come together when needed. The new twists are really interesting and I am really intrigued by the bits of information Ms. Barton lets slip little by little. This is turning out to be an addicting series and can't wait to find out more.

I really enjoyed reading Brick and Emma's story! Book 3 is where Peter the vampire is written into this series and this particular book is where more about Peter and his maker Victor become more active in this series!!!

Reading this particular book and series has been a great deal of fun with quite a bit of danger for each couple to contend with to get their HEA!!! I love that the Matriarch and her 6 grown sons are what the series is based upon and each book has one of the sons finding the one woman in the world meant solely for them! I have given this book and series a 5 star rating because the author has a very unique and talented way to tell the story in a way that makes you feel that you are there with the characters!!! I would recommend this book and series for everyone who loves a great story and an even better series!!! As for changing anything, NO, I would rather read the books as the author intended!!! Thank you Kathi, for your wonderful creations that keep me reading as I have several of your series at my disposal for entertainment!!!

Brock

This book is the 4th book in Kathi S Barton’s “Golden Streak” series, and I think that it is one of the best she’s written. I could not put it down. I was up till 4 am finishing it. It was that good.
Brock is a were tiger, like the rest of his family. He is also the enforcer of the family.
Emily is a deaf-mute working for Rayne, and on the run from her own family (I’ll leave you to find out why).
Once they meet, Brock realizes that she is his mate right away.
There are many twists and turns to this book that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time you are reading it.
I will tell you that the whole family gets involved, of course, and Peter is very prominent too, and there is a danger stalking Em.
Ms Barton has really outdone herself with this one. Can’t wait for the next one.

Book four in the "Golden Streak Series" offers up some intriguing differences...both the hero AND the heroine have disabilities. Emma Cole (Em) is a deaf/mute hiding her location from her family, and Brock Golden is a powerful tiger shifter hiding the knowledge that a second dangerously uncontrollable beast lurks inside his skin from his family!

Em fears her for her safety, and Brock fears for the safety of those around him if he loses control of the beast. Their attempts at hiding are no match for the mate imperative that rises when the two meet. While she worries that her family will hurt her new friends and he is afraid his beast will injure his mate, action explodes around them and surprising facts rise to the surface. The latest Barton book in the Golden Streak proves once again that you shouldn't "twist the tiger's tail".

More than 1 Tiger in a Body

Brock has a little something extra than 1 tiger in his body & when he turns his mate she gets extra too. Brock & Emma's story is filled with very bad vampires, very good vampires, lots of plants (cause Emma works for Rayne who now has expanded her 1 store to 3) & of The Golden Family of Tigers & mates that have a little something extra to them. This is a HEA standalone story with a lot of sex scenes in between the drama. This book is as excellent as the other books in this series & Kathi S. Barton has gained a reader that will buy her books always as long as she keeps writing them.

Beast Brock

This was a hilarious read filled with sizzling chemistry and a story-line that wraps you up and leaves you captured until you finish the book. Brock is the enforcer for his streak and all around problem solver for his family. When a problem arises in his brother and sister flower shop he meets his mate in Emma (Em). Em is deaf and has had a hard time growing up with a father and brothers who felt she was the maid. Throw in vampires and a beast and you have a fantastic story wrapped in a cover that's just as hot as the book. Can't wait for the next one.

This is the 4th in the Golden Streak Series and just as amazing as the others were. Brock is a weretiger and the enforcer for the streak but he also has a beast inside him.
Emma is deaf and can't speak and running away from her family that wants to turn her into a vampire.
Emma is Brock's mate.
This is another amazing story written by Kathi S. Barton - would definitely recommend to everyone as a must read

Loved it, and could not put it down.

Brock moved along at a very good pave from the very first word till the very last, had interesting characters that you cannot help but fall in love with and a great story that will keep you interested through the entire book.

I am looking forward to reading more from this awesome author.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. However, I did find the jumping about made it difficult for me to follow. I liked that the interest was deaf/mute but didn't like the fairytale ending that she was gifted with being "normal" again. There are still a lot of unanswered questions. A good book but left me with a bit of a sour note.

The streak is a hit

The crazy family of tigers is at it again. Email is deaf and mute and running from her sadistic family. The family is really warped and Brock must work very hard to overcome her fears. Great read!

The story was good, and I liked the characters, for the most part. The bad guys were melodramatic, as usual. There was too much repetition, and then ending left me slightly confused. The editing could have been better.
