They say you should keep your enemies closer…

This story was easy to follow. James, the Sales manager, and Felicity, or Fliss, the Marketing manager, are at odds. Fliss is rigid and loves plans, while James is always throwing out ideas. They’re both competitive and vying for the director position.
Their boss, Michael, proposes a work trip and team bonding as a solution. However, the trip takes a turn for the worse.

From the first chapter I was hooked! The work enemies storyline, the banter, the chemistry & the chaotic camping (which was giving me serious survivor vibes 😂)
This book was so much fun, I loved the concept & Chloes writing had me laughing and falling in love with these characters! As a corporate girly myself I related soooo much to Fliss! The imagery and references throughout the story were so great and the pace was perfect, the plot never felt rushed and it also never dragged on! The perfect Rom-Com!
A great book for people who like Emily Henry style stories, honestly loved it & excited to see what else Chloe Ford writes!

Fliss loves her job as head of marketing... even if it often means locking horns with James, the infuriatingly cocky head of sales. After a particularly public (and heated) argument in the conference room, their boss decides a little "team bonding" is in order. Fliss expects a normal corporate retreat. Instead, she and James find themselves stranded on a two-person survival hike in the Scottish wilderness - with a single tiny tent and survival packs packed with hilariously impractical gear.
As injuries, ridiculous challenges, and grudging teamwork force them closer, Fliss and James begin to see each other in a whole new light. The tension shifts from icy glares to slow-burning attraction in a story that’s equal parts outrageous, swoony, and laugh-out-loud funny.
This was such a fun, fast-paced read! I genuinely laughed at the absurdity of the contents of those packs 😂 and loved the slow thaw of their relationship. The post-adventure return to the office action added the perfect payoff without losing the chaotic charm. If you like forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers banter, and slightly unhinged workplace dynamics, you’ll enjoy this one.

initially i was really not getting into this book. i found a lot of the dialogue quite childish - it was coming across as more of a young adult book until about 100 pages in. for characters meant to be in their thirties i did think a lot of the conversation was u realistic.
i also thought that the chemistry between fliss and james was lacking throughout, it's hard to see sparks when they are having boring conversation topics like discussing salaries (even though this was relevant to the story). it did feel a little like they had nothing in common outside of work. i do think this improved as the book went on though, and the conversations started to feel more natural but for such a dialogue heavy book, i do think some bits could be reworked.
the writing style / plots are similar to elena armas in some ways, especially 'the spanish love deception' but just a lot more fast paced. personally, 200 pages is too short for an enemies to lovers story as you need more of a slow burn for it to feel realistic - these two went from hating each other for six years to being involved over the course of a few days. it didn't feel like their emotions came naturally, especially with constant reminders of their forced proximity and how it was affecting the way they viewed each other.
overall, i did enjoy elements of this book. i think the last third / quarter seemed better in quality compared to the start and i found myself wanting to read on once i had got through the initial set up of the plot. an easy read for sure !

Work Trip was good fun! There’s nothing completely original about the plot, it’s a typical enemies to lovers trope, although the storyline being that Fliss and James have been dropped in the remote Scottish highlands by their boss, in a bid to “work together” is probably unique.
A quick and easy rom com that wasn’t too heavy or too soppy.
I enjoyed the audio narration when I adjusted the speed.

I was really looking forward to this read as saw a lot of 5 star reviews and I was lucky enough to receive an early copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Oh boy..
The plot as promised is work enemies to lovers - that was delivered as well as amazing description of Scottish Highlands.. I really hate doing this but I couldn't wait to finish it and not for the good reason. I found characters boring, conversations between them unrealistic and whole situation simply not good enough . It read like a first draft. Maybe I was just extremely lucky with all of my previous reads but this one put me off the romcoms for a while. Overall 2 out of 5

a cute read, you know exactly what you’re getting going into a workplace enemies to lovers like this and this is pretty good. it wasn’t my cup of tea but it was a decent read. i did feel like the characters were a bit immature for adults in their 30’s, specifically in the dialogue alone but thats just me because im very picky about characters feeling realistic especially in audiobook adaptations.
i do think that if you’re looking for a quick cute read this book will definitely do the trick of satisfying that and it’ll also be a great book for getting you out of a reading slump since it’s so quick and easy to read.

Having not read the blurb I was surprised to find out that their boss was totally unhinged!
This was for the most part a lighthearted rom com so it never got too dire, but damn they could have died, but instead they fell in love, obviously.
Loved how this touched on having enough self worth (and maybe a little savings) to leave a situation where you aren't valued.

I love finding new authors and I loved finding a new fun rom-com enemies to lovers book. I ate this up and couldn’t put it down. The work place enemies was everything, the characters, chemistry and humour honestly made me enjoy this so much. Honestly think this is a perfect book to read if your looking for romcom vibes with amazing enemies to lovers

Sparkling with enemies-to-lovers tension, WORK TRIP is a delectable romp through the Scottish countryside, and I BREEZED through this - I read through the whole thing in a day because I literally couldn’t put it down. I loved slightly-gruff James and the extremely relatable Fliss and all of their hijinks on this “work trip” that goes off the rails to hilarious comedic effect. This was super fun because it has the pace and vibes of an adventure romance, but more “normal” everyday stakes. The steam was delectable and the chemistry impossible not to root for - I cannot wait for my next Chloe Ford book! Fans of The Hating Game will get a major kick out of WORK TRIP. Loved it!

Eeeek… I really enjoyed this audiobook! I giggled throughout and replayed so many parts!
The way Fliss and James’s characters are portrayed deliver a whirlwind of emotions. One minute i disliked James, the next I’m swooning over him! The angst between them is wonderful and believable. Just enough 🔥 and extremely well written.
The chapter where they open the backpacks they’ve been given was hilarious.
I also enjoyed how the book explored two sides to ‘overachieving’ employees and delved into the reasons behind it - Fliss and James’s upbringing and what they had to deal and how that has moulded them into the adults they are.
I enjoyed the narrator and I thought her voice suited the visual image I had of Fliss. She presented the characters well and was easy to listen to.
Would highly recommend listening to this audiobook and I will definitely be looking out for more work by Chloe.

This was very cute, and very much gave the hating game vibes I’ve been looking for, but with the forced proximity trope and also some lost in the wilderness survival stuff I always go feral for.
I loved the quirky main character, she was funny but also just infuriating enough to make it interesting. The only negative I can think of is that the writing was a little choppy toward the beginning however it progressively got better throughout the book, so it didn’t bother me much.
I really enjoyed how the main character’s struggles, anxiety and overall development was portrayed; it made her very realistic and relatable. And the romance plot made for a really fun and fast read. This is honestly an excellent debut. Chloe Ford will definitely be an author I keep an eye out for in the future. I basically inhale read this and was just the rom-com escape I was looking for.

Work Trip was an absolute joy to read. This enemies to lovers novel was a funny, lighthearted romance. The characters are flawed but brilliant and Ford’s excellent wit and sense of humour definitely comes through the character of Fliss. James was frustrating at first but once you take him out his usual environment into the Scottish Highlands, you start to see him in a different perspective through the eyes of Fliss. I loved the descriptions of the location, you really felt the ruggedness of the Highlands. Great pacing, funny, and with just the right level of smut - I was completely hooked from the beginning. Excellent debut novel and looking forward to reading more from this author!!

I don’t know who wants their heroes to be such friggin jerks towards the heroines in their romance novels but I’m so not into this. No chemistry at all, at least not until I gave up a third of the way in. This quote was the final nail in the coffin:
“I hate you, I really do. You’re a proper prim cow sometimes with all your rules and don’t-ruin-our-image rubbish”
That’s the hero’s words to the heroine. I wish I was kidding but I’m really not. No thanks. That book’s not for me.

This book was a quick, cozy, and effortlessly enjoyable read. I flew through it in one sitting, completely caught up in the banter, tension, and undeniable chemistry between our two protagonists.

💼 The setup was fantastic. A stranded together situation caused by their eccentric boss? Loved it! It made for the perfect storm of forced proximity, witty banter, and growing tension.
📖 The writing was smooth and easy to devour. The story unfolded at a great pace, making it the ideal weekend binge-read. Even though the final plot twist was fairly predictable (I saw it coming around the 50% mark), it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.

I really enjoyed this, for the most part. Two work colleagues, who literally cannot stand each other and are both up for the same job; are forced to go on a work trip to boost the team’s morale— only for them to realise that they’ve been set up by their boss, and it’s only just the two of them going on the trip. Honestly, it sounds like my kind of personal hell lmao 😂
Felicity “Fliss” and James were both unequivocal British and so dramatic, I did think to myself at times, how are they both adults, but they had great banter, and James being able to read Fliss, whenever she was freaking out, was actually rather cute.
I did think that it was overly dramatic in some scenes that they had together, they didn’t have anything else to talk about asides from work; though in saying that, things did pick up, as they got to know each other towards the end.
The ending reminded me similarly of a scene from a book I read years ago, by Julie Johnson; where the guy turns up at the girl’s parent’s house, because the girl isn’t talking to him, so obviously takes matters into his own hands, and what better than turning up at her mum’s house; so she’s forced to talk to him. I did like that. James seemed to have realised that money isn’t everything to be driven by; something he had learned whilst on the trip with Fliss.

I really enjoyed this, for the most part. Two work colleagues, who literally cannot stand each other and are both up for the same job; are forced to go on a work trip to boost the team’s morale— only for them to realise that they’ve been set up by their boss, and it’s only just the two of them going on the trip. Honestly, it sounds like my kind of personal hell lmao 😂
Felicity “Fliss” and James were both unequivocal British and so dramatic, I did think to myself at times, how are they both adults, but they had great banter, and James being able to read Fliss, whenever she was freaking out, was actually rather cute.
I did think that it was overly dramatic in some scenes that they had together, they didn’t have anything else to talk about asides from work; though in saying that, things did pick up, as they got to know each other towards the end.

work trip is a standalone romance following Fliss, who works in marketing and is gunning for the director promotion. she’s always worked hard and done what was expected of her and more. so when even though an upcoming team building work trip fills her with dread, she goes anyway. the reason she’s dreading the trip is because of her work rival, James, who works in sales. he’s always pushing back her ideas and trying to one up her, and she can’t stand him.
when they arrive in the Scottish Highlands, they find out that the work trip is only for them two and their boss has abandoned them in the middle of nowhere with one tent, two sleeping bags, and a few protein bar.
their task is to put their differences aside and find a way home.
i loved this so much. the writing was so fun and witty and i loved that it was not just focused on the romance but had an underlying message of knowing your worth in a work setting and not staying in a job you’re not valued as you are
i loved Fliss and James so much, they’re both such relatable characters. the way they taught each other that there’s more to life than just work because Fliss was basically in it for the recognition and James was in it for the money and they both helped each other grow🥹🤏🏻 and the fact that James could always tell when she was freaking out😭😭
also i loved her finally standing up for herself and James being so proud😭
the romance was so cute and watching them both slowly lower their guards and let each other in was just so sweet. i loved how they started understanding each other as the book progressed🥹
also i had the audiobook on netgalley (thank you netgalley and head of zeus) before i had received the physical copy and i loved it, the narrator did such a great job and i could even listen to it 2.5x and it was perfect. the narrator really brought the story to life!

Fliss is the head of marketing but has ambitions to one day lead the company but her annoying colleague, James, is standing in her way and generally aggravating her. Her boss forces her and James into a team building weekend, which ends up with them dumped in the middle of nowhere and having to work together to get back to civilization. Sparks fly between the pair, but is it because they're stuck together in the middle of nowhere, or is it something more?
Work Trip is a fun work enemies to lovers romp through the Scottish highlands with a bit of spice thrown in there for good measure.
I absolutely flew through this book! It was the perfect mix of lighthearted banter and romance I needed. There was even a little peril for the characters trying to navigate their way through the countryside.
The chemistry between Fliss and James was so good. I found myself rooting for them and the author even found a way to make the obnoxious James a lot more likeable as the book progressed.
If I were to be a bit nit picky, I would have liked the romance to be a little more slow burn. It felt like they went from I hate you to I like you very quickly. Also, I would have liked a little more of a dramatic confrontation between Fliss and the boss who dumped her and James in the middle of nowhere.
If you love work place enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes, then I highly recommend this book to you.

(I read an uncorrected proof from Netgalley). I read this one in ONE SITTING. I have not enjoyed a romance in a long time! This book was ace.

Flissy and James are both managers at Starr, an events company. They bicker, and quite frankly, do not get along. Their manager, Michael, decides to take everyone on a work trip to Scotland to calm the vibes and destress the employees. However plot twist, only Fliss and James have been invited, and oh, they have been stranded in Scotland with 2 camping bags and they have to find their way back to the hotel in 3 days with only a £50 note.
This book was cute, and the camping trip was funny. I was smiling at their dysfunctional relationship. I desperately wanted more though!

You know it's a good book when you stay up into the unsociable hours to read it. I devoured this and didn't want to put it down once I picked it up.
I love a good enemies-to-lovers, and this was a sizzling, witty, and fun example! I could feel the tension between the characters, and loved them both for very different reasons.
The setting was great, even if they really weren't equipped for it haha who knew one tent romances was what I needed in my life.
I sadly could relate to some of the workplace toxicity, it all helped to make it feel more real.
A great book, though I wanted another like 200 pages! Why did it have to end? Ah well, will just have to preorder the next one 🤩
