And that's what you get in this book--more calculus problems than your worst nightmare—but with a BIG difference. Award-winning calculus teacher W. Michael Kelley has been through the whole book and made a ton of notes, so you

• 1,000 problems with comprehensive solutions
•  Annotated notes throughout the text, clarifying exactly what's being asked
•  Really detailed answers (no more skipped steps!)
•  Extra explanations that make what's baffling perfectly clear
•  Pointers to other problems that show skills you need

And all of the major players are limits, continuity, derivatives, integrals, tangent lines, velocity, acceleration, area, volume, infinite series—even the really tough stuff like epsilon-delta proofs and formal Riemann sums.

So dig in to your heart's content!

The author has written a bunch of books about math (like The Complete Idiot's Guide to Precalculus, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Calculus (Second Edition), and The Humongous Book of Calculus Problems).

His website, www.calculus-help.com, hosts over a thousand unique visitors a day, even though it features an unflattering animated graphic of him dancing at his wedding.

This was an amazing resource for the study of calculus I and II. The problems inside were often insightful and definitely helped me think of things in a way that my various texts had been unable to do. The slight drawback with the book is that it almost feels like a text itself. Concepts are introduced in brief before problem sets. I feel like expanding the book's scope beyond a book of problems and filling it out into an actual calculus text would be a worthwhile endeavor and also very helpful to student of calculus.

This is a great book both for first-time learners and for people who want a refresh. A lot of math books either omit steps or don't fully explain everything. This book is great, because it assumes that we're all clueless about math. Every step is explained, and more importantly the thought processes and problem-solving strategies are laid out clearly. Anyone who feels that they could improve their single-variable calculus skills should read this book.

The author really keeps to the pertinent issues by working thru illustrative problems really was very useful when showing my sons the basics of algebra, then geometry, and calculus. I purchased Mr Kelley's publications on all three books, so during an MBA statistics course I purchased Mr. Kelley's Humongous Book of Statistics as well!
