Solae Apocalypse

Rate this book
Solae Apocalypse is the climactic finish of Lewis MacLeod's SOLAE series. Set many centuries in humankind's future, the series has explored how civilization would rediscover itself following a disastrous and destructive worldwide collapse...what sequence of developments would lead to new societies, what age-old travails would be re-experienced, what timeless human virtues would emerge anew. The novels can be considered a "conjectural future history", but not at the cost of raging adventure, romance, humor, strong characters, and page-turning excitement.
Apocalypse commences thirty years beyond the timeframe of Book 4 (Solae Redeemer). The Union of Eriss has been invaded and overrun by the armies of Santia, led by the insane, hideously-maimed former wife of Mairhos, respected Domin of the Union. It is up to the succeeding generation to reverse affairs. But the odds appear to be overwhelmingly stacked against them!

MacLeod’s “conjectural future history” comes to a very satisfying conclusion with the fifth and final book in the Solae series. Earth is rediscovering itself after its cataclysmic collapse. Communities are being reestablished, language is morphing into new shapes to describe the emerging societies, science and knowledge are gradually reasserting themselves. For all the dramatic changes, humanity remains in its defining struggles between virtue and vice, wisdom and ignorance, altruism and egomania.

The Solae series is a gripping epic for thinking people. Filled with action, suspense, romance, and humor, it confidently explores the motivations of the human heart, leading readers to reflect on what it means to be human, no matter the time or the technology. Five enthusiastic stars.
