Luna Thorn #5

Karma Killer

Rate this book
A killer has come to Detroit, and he’s knocking off pink-haired women and leaving them in area parks. Is he looking for Luna Thorn? He just might be.

As if time traveling and meddlesome reapers weren’t enough to deal with, Luna has a new problem…and it’s wearing a mask. Constant horror movie jokes aside, as each body drops, the pressure weighing down Luna continues to build. She can’t take another moment of uncertainty.

So, that’s when her mother returns and firmly inserts herself into Luna’s life.

Luna has been looking for answers for a long time. Accepting a parent out of nowhere is a bridge too far, though. As she tries to distance herself from the new player on the canvas, she gets closer to a killer…and a truth she wasn’t ready to uncover.

Luna thought she had everything she wanted—and then some—but now there’s too much to grapple with. The strongest witch in Detroit is facing a fall. Will she get back up, or is this the one blow she can’t come back from?

There’s more than one phoenix about to take flight.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Things are beating up in Detroit.

Luna finally is starting to learn some details about her life before she appeared in Detroit in a cloud of pink smoke. Obviouslyyoung with no memory she was unofficially adopted by Lincoln and Ryan (a shifter and vampire) who took physical care of her and educated her on human life, mainly through TV and movies. How her later Luna is a strong magical presence in Detroit who we first meet in the Deaths Gate series as a result she has close ties to Izzy Sage and the infamous Grimlocks. This instalment sees Izzy in danger as a mysterious figure is hanging around Detroit's parks killing women with pink hair. The knockout is that he does the women Luna Thorne before killing them. So obviously he is killing the wrong women nd his target ideally Luna............Whitehouse sent him and why?. The list is long of supernaturals who would like to see Luna hurt or dead so the hunt is on not only to find the killer but the people behind the killer........................

That Ending Was a Huge Surprise!

This book was really good! I was not expecting things to turn out like they did. One of the reasons I love all of Amanda's/Lily's books is because they keep me guessing as to what is going to happen until the end! I can't wait for Luna's next book to see where things go next.

Amanda M. Lee's sense of humor

I love how at the end of every book Amanda says that her sense of humor isn't for everyone. I honestly cannot imagine anyone who would not find her incredibly hilarious. Her books are so immersive that I am in that situation, in that moment, feeling all the feelings that she is wanting her audience to feel. It makes my day every single time I see that a new book by one of my favorite authors Amanda M. Lee is out. I would just like to say excellent work ma'am please keep it up and you will always find a very willing consumer for your product right here.

Great series!

I absolutely love this series. The characters are unique and incredibly complex in a simplistic way. They all have strong personalities and even stronger opinions especially Carmack Grim lock and Luna Thorn. I appreciate the way the storyline s include characters from Ms. Lee's other series. They interact seamlessly and keep your favorite characters alive. I especially appreciate that when the series ended and I wasn't ready for it to. Thanks for that! It is one of the reasons I am a true blue loyal fan. Honestly all the series are great. I highly recommend you give them a try! You won't be disappointed.

One of my favorite series!

I love this series and this book was a great continuation of Luna’s story! The snarky characters are so fun to spend time with and I LOVE that we get more of the Grimlocks through this series- they are my absolute favorite family and I hope you never stop writing about them! The way that the characters are woven throughout each other’s stories and they all become family is so appealing and always enjoyable to spend time in their worlds. So sad when I get to the end of the book. Can’t wait for the next one!

So many surprises!

Totally enjoyed this book. I would just think I knew what direction it was heading, only to be surprised where it ended up going. I am sad there is only one book left to read in the series, because I so much enjoy the Grimlocks, Winters and whoever you decided to add to the group. I have read most of your books from Witches of the Midwest to Mystic Caravan, to Supernatural Speakeasy, to Spell's Angels and more! The list goes on. I love how you have no boundaries with your books. Your characters can show up anything.
Thank you !

Progress, finally

I was hoping for more about Booth, but Luna is finally getting more information about travelers, and her birth family. "Time travel sucks" seems a fair assessment. I'm intrigued by memory pockets being left around;sounds like a lot of hauntings. Good to learn more about Bruno.
Luna is more judgmental than I would expect of a street kid. Does she expect someone with a glass eye that falls out to excuse themselves, find a rest room, and reinsert it privately? I like the hags.

Lots of forward progress

Great story. Strong storyline with lots of action but it’s the people interaction I love. Luna with Jessie, with her fathers, with Izzy and very heart warming small scenes with Redmond - the best big brother. Don’t want to reveal any spoilers. Highly recommend but you really need to at least start at the beginning of the series. Better if you read the Grimlock series and then Izzy’s series first.

Don't judge a book by it's cover!

Amanda M. Lee's books and her various pseudonyms, are my guilty pleasure. Having said that, I will say that this series as well as the Grim series and the carnival series are great urban paranormal fantasy. They just mo right out of the cozy and into some good action. Well worth the read.

Best Series Ever

This book and series has the best characters. You get Luna and Jessie plus everyone at the Cathedral. And you get all of the Grimlocks plus Izzy from the Death Gate Grim Dealers series. This series is packed with fun, loud snarky characters plus a lot of action and mystery. What more could you ask for? Loved this book!!

I absolutely love Amanda M Lees’s books. Her sense of humour invokes some real laugh out loud moments! Luna starts to learn more about her history and family, with her chosen family The Grimlocks and their antics there to support her. Enter a third family, Jesse’s parents who are joining the party and stepping up to show their support. The competition I am sure is going to create more hilarity as they all continue together to protect Detroit from the horrors that keep coming.

This one had some good twists in it that I appreciated. I do see another child/parent whining coming into play that would be a level of extreme annoyance. You know when you read something and you actually yell out: OH COME ON! Yeah, like that.

I didn't see that coming.

Luna once again is battling not only monsters but her own self doubts. A few twists to keep us guessing and it looks as if Luna is going to get to meet her family. Bring on book 6.

Holy wow

So Luna's mom shows up out of the blue. We learn a bit more about Luna's family and then holy plot twist! That I, in no way, saw coming. I actually exclaimed when the twist was revealed. Very much enjoying this series. Amanda M Lee continues to amaze!

Page turner. Loved the characters and chemistry. Dangerous enemies, unknown killer and a suspicious person trying to get close to Luna. Great series. No cliffhanger and happy for now.

I really love this author and she has wit! There's always a family snark in one way or another.
No matter what kind of family drama there is... Its always centered around love and care!
I can't wait to see how the found mother and father dynamics turn out.

Some aspects, especially at the end of the book, have been absolutely predictable, but it played out in an unexpected manner and I liked the story a lot. The characters are great, as usual, and ich can’t wait for the next book coming out in October. 5 stars.

Too much negative energy

This book was well written just like all the other books in the series. There's not enough humor or light hearted bits to counter all the antsy drama and negative vibes in this book.

I don’t know why but I could not remember reading the third book in this series. This was a good read. Luna is getting closer to gaining her memories back, but is hesitant to trust new people coming into her life. I’m excited to see how this will go.
