Pink Corrosion by Costi Gurgu is an enthralling science fiction novel that masterfully blends elements of ancient mythology and futuristic technology in a post-apocalyptic world. The story follows Geo Woodman, the newly crowned leader of the Silkers, as he struggles to unite his kingdom amidst internal discord and external threats. Gurgu’s world-building is exceptional, creating a vivid and corrupted Earth where pink-tinged corrosion affects the ecosystem and decaying structures. His descriptive language pulls readers into this bleak yet mesmerizing landscape, where human civilization fights for survival against both natural forces and remnants of its own technological hubris.

The plot revolves around Geo’s political battles within the fractured Silker kingdom and the looming external threat of the warlord Han the Great. The tension between Geo and the powerful figures around him creates a riveting atmosphere of political intrigue and leadership dilemmas. Gurgu expertly balances these internal power struggles with the external dangers posed by Han’s conquering army, keeping the story engaging and the stakes high. As Geo navigates the treacherous world of governance and warfare, his character development is both compelling and relatable, showcasing the weight of leadership in times of chaos.

What truly sets Pink Corrosion apart is its fusion of ecological collapse and mythological themes, which gives the novel a distinct narrative. The surreal blend of mutated creatures, corrupted nature, and advanced yet decaying technology creates a unique setting where fantasy and science fiction merge seamlessly. This combination elevates the novel beyond typical dystopian stories, offering a richly imaginative story for fans of both genres. With its intricate world-building, high-stakes narrative, and innovative storytelling, Pink Corrosion is a must-read for anyone seeking a fresh take on post-apocalyptic fiction.

Was it worth saving? He’d saved it once. Should he go for a second round?" Geo’s haunting question captures the heart of Pink Corrosion. This is the second book in the Corrosion series, following Green Corrosion. Costi Gurgu's story plunges us into a post-apocalyptic reality where every decision can differentiate between life and death.

The story revolves around Geo, who has just become the prince of the Silkers after defeating the former leader, Prince Boris. But Geo faces big challenges. He has to deal with Silver Star, a dangerous man who wants to destroy everything, and Han the Great, a warlord coming with a huge army. The book explores how Geo tries to unite people, make alliances, and figure out how to keep his kingdom safe.

The book talks a lot about the consequences of environmental damage. The Black Rains, which turned water into a harmful substance, have left the Earth in ruins. People are divided into groups, like the Liquids (those who haven’t been changed) and the Corrosives (who have been mutated). This split shows how much humanity has changed and how difficult it is for people to survive in this new world. While the book has a lot of deep ideas, it is still written in a way that most readers can enjoy. You don’t need to be an expert in science fiction to follow along, but it helps if you’re familiar with the first book.

For fans of science fiction and dystopian literature, Pink Corrosion is worth picking up. In the end, the author leaves us with a haunting message: leadership in a broken world demands personal sacrifice, and victory is often temporary. The book makes you think about what it means to lead, to survive, and whether the world can—or should—be saved.

I have not read the first book. Having read the second, however, I will be going back and reading the other because I know I have missed quite a bit.

I really enjoyed the storytelling in the book and how easy it was to read. One of my favorite was the uncertain nightmare. I simply loved the descriptions in this chapter.

This book is sure to appeal to fantasy and sci fi readers alike.

The “Corrosion” saga continues, and the second book is as good as the first one. A brilliant story with amazing characters and a ton of ideas per chapter. The world is immersive, and I like how the author returned to his writing roots from RecipeArium with these “Corrosion” books.

Costi Gurgu continues the story of Geo Woodman in “Pink Corrosion,” the suspenseful follow-up to “Green Corrosion,” with more stakes and a plot that is intricately constructed. Following the dramatic events of the previous book, Geo makes the audacious decision to become the new leader of the Silkers by bringing Prince Boris’ Medusa hand to the Golden Tower. In addition to asserting authority, this act of defiance is a last-ditch effort to win over the Council and Silker Commanders, who are essential to his schemes.

As Geo and his ally Bree negotiate the perilous waters of politics and power, Gurgu expertly conveys the tension. As they attempt to persuade the doubtful Council that they are capable of leading the Silkers in the face of the impending danger posed by Silver Star, a malicious entity determined to destroy the Caves, their difficulties are evident. Every chapter of the book is a page-turner because of the author’s skill at fusing high-stakes adventure with political intrigue.

Han the Great, a powerful emperor who has already subjugated half of the world, presents a fresh threat as the tale develops. His appearance makes Geo and Bree’s search even more urgent and dangerous. Gurgu explores the difficulties and responsibilities of leadership while skillfully striking a balance between action and character development.

By extending the world created in its predecessor, “Pink Corrosion” enhances the lore and strengthens the reader’s bond with the characters. Fans of the series should not miss this novel, which promises more twists and turns as the struggle for survival heats up. It combines fantasy, action, and political drama.

This is the second installment in the Corrosion series, picks up the thrilling narrative where Green Corrosion left off. The story follows Geo Woodman, who, after a hard-fought victory over Prince Boris, now finds himself crowned as the head of the Silkers. The weight of the crown is heavy, and Gurgu expertly captures the internal and external struggles that Geo and his companion Bree face as they navigate the treacherous political landscape of their new roles. The author’s ability to blend action with character development is commendable, making the reader invested in the protagonists' journey.

The plot thickens as Geo and Bree work to gain the trust of the Silker Commanders and Council, a task fraught with challenges. The tension between the characters is palpable, and the author skillfully weaves in themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the quest for acceptance. As Geo grapples with his newfound responsibilities, readers are treated to a rich exploration of his character, revealing vulnerabilities that make him relatable and compelling.

As if the political machinations weren’t enough, the author introduces a formidable new threat in the form of Han the Great, an emperor who has already conquered half the world. This looming danger adds a sense of urgency to the narrative, propelling the story forward and keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The contrast between the internal struggles of Geo and Bree and the external threat posed by Han creates a dynamic tension that drives the plot.

The pacing is expertly handled, with a balance of action-packed sequences and quieter, introspective moments. The writing style is both evocative and immersive, drawing readers into the richly crafted world of the Silkers. The descriptions of the Golden Tower and the Caves are particularly striking, allowing readers to visualize the settings vividly. The author’s attention to detail enhances the overall experience, making the fantastical elements of the story feel grounded

So I did not read the first book, and that said, I was not quick to catch on. It’s hard-core sci-fi and reminded me a little bit of STAR WARS and medieval tropes. I did think it was very interesting and that nerds would love it. The cover art is very attractive, too.

It has political tones that add depth to the novel amid the overarching theme of warfare. The writer also writes very descriptively. But I do regret not reading the first book as it would have made for a more immersive experience for me.

“Pink Corrosion” is the second part of the “Corrosion” series. We still don’t have information on how many volumes there will be. But it seems there will be at least three. So, let’s say the second part of the “Corrosion” trilogy. It’s post-apocalyptic, eco-fiction, science fiction, and fantasy at the same time. It’s dark and grim, hopeless and hopeful, love and hate, all in one. It’s complex and yet straightforward. Amazing storytelling skill and imagination. I wish this would become one of those series with six or eight books. The world built in them is wonderful. I wish this would become a movie or a TV series in the future. It deserves to be one.
“Pink Corrosion” is a hell of a second book in the series. And things can only go upwards from here.

A compelling dystopian

Pink Corrosion by Costi Gurgu was a delightful read for me and there is a lot to enjoy in this book. First, the writing is gorgeous and neat, filled with captivating descriptions. Second, the characters are fully drawn, from Geo, a young hero who is bent on protecting his clan in a world characterized by danger, corruption, and lack of resources, especially clean water to the Prince who lives safely in the Golden Tower. Third, the plotting is superb and the author uses premonitions to arrest the interest of readers. Fourth, the conflict is multifaceted and expertly developed. The dystopian setting creates a situation in which the characters fight for survival and this author excels as exploiting this aspect of the story. It is enjoyable to say the least.

This fantasy story is about Geo Woodman, a brave fighter who now has to lead his people and protect them from many dangers. After defeating Prince Boris, Geo tries to show that he’s strong enough to be their leader. But he quickly learns that leading others is much harder than just winning a fight.

To prove he defeated Prince Boris, Geo takes Boris’s Medusa hand as proof and brings it to the Golden Tower, the home of his people, the Silkers. This act shows that he’s ready to become their new leader. Although Geo is crowned as the head of the Silkers, he still needs to gain the trust and support of the Silker Commanders and the Council to keep his people safe.

Geo isn’t alone in this journey. Bree, his strong partner, is with him every step of the way. Together, they have a mission to stop their enemy, Silver Star, from destroying the Caves. The Caves are very important to the Silkers because they provide shelter and safety. If Silver Star destroys them, the Silkers will be in great danger. Geo and Bree must protect the Caves, but they can’t do it alone—they need the Commanders and Council to fully trust and support them.

Just as things seem difficult enough, an even bigger threat appears. Han the Great, a powerful emperor who has already conquered half the world, is coming their way.
This book has a lot of action and excitement. Each character has their own personality and role. Even though Geo won his crown by defeating Prince Boris, being a good leader requires more than just winning battles. He needs people to truly believe in him, or he might fail as a leader.

It’s perfect for readers who enjoy fantasy adventures with power and loyalty. Geo Woodman’s journey from a fighter to a true leader is inspiring and challenging. This book will definitely make readers excited to see what happens next in this fascinating world.

In Pink Corrosion, the second book in the Corrosion series, we dive deeper into the intense and dangerous world of Geo Woodman. After a fierce battle and the fall of Prince Boris, Geo claims Boris’ Medusa hand and brings it to the Golden Tower—a powerful symbol of victory and a testament to his rightful place as the heir to the Silkers’ throne. With this act, Geo’s journey is both triumphant and perilous, as he and Bree face the next battle: earning the loyalty of the Silker Commanders and Council. Their fight is more than just physical; it’s about establishing trust in a world built on suspicion and survival.

But Pink Corrosion is not just about reclaiming crowns or earning support; it’s a race against time. As Geo and Bree strategize to prevent the sinister Silver Star from bringing ruin to the Caves, every decision, alliance, and betrayal comes with a cost. Costi Gurgu has crafted an environment filled with tension and unease, where the stakes are life and death. The depth of Geo’s resolve is felt in every page, while Bree’s fierce loyalty and cleverness add layers to their shared quest. Together, they are a force that resists bending, even when the odds appear insurmountable.

The final layer of intrigue comes from the looming shadow of Han the Great, an emperor feared across the world for his unstoppable conquests. His approach brings an air of foreboding and a reminder that their fight is far from over. Han’s arrival promises a clash of empires, ideologies, and wills. Gurgu’s writing brings every twist to life, making Pink Corrosion a must-read for fans of intense, high-stakes fantasy. Every page brims with suspense, courage, and complex power dynamics

In "Pink Corrosion", author Costi Gurgu masterfully weaves a web of political intrigue and impending warfare, creating a gripping atmosphere of tension. The stakes feel higher than ever, with the characters facing both internal dissent and external threats. The relationship between Geo and Bree continues to evolve as they navigate not just their personal connection but also the burdens of leadership in a fracturing world.

One of the strengths of this book is its pacing. The action never lets up, and each chapter brings new challenges or reveals, keeping the reader hooked from beginning to end. The worldbuilding, first established in "Green Corrosion", deepens as we learn more about the different factions and power struggles within the Silkers’ society.

While "Pink Corrosion" can stand alone to some extent, readers will definitely benefit from having read the first book, as many of the relationships, motivations, and histories carry over. The new dangers and complexities that arise, particularly with the looming threat of Han the Great, suggest that the stakes will only get higher in the books to come.

Overall, this is a thrilling continuation of the series. For fans of political fantasy, war, and power struggles, this is a must-read.

Very Exciting and Well-Written

Pink Corrosion by Costi Gurgu is a very interesting science fiction story. The plot features Geo Woodman, the main character who struggles to stabilize his community as a new leader amidst challenges of internal uprising and external threats.

The author does a great job of combining ancient civilization with modern technology. Also, Costi Gurgu's storytelling skills are top-notch; his language is very descriptive, and reading the book feels like witnessing the events happen.

Although the book is a second issue of the Corrosion series, you can also read it as a stand-alone. However, I would recommend reading it alongside the first book. Pink Corrosion is an intriguing story that depicts the challenges of leadership even in today’s world.

I enjoyed reading the book and I highly recommend it to everyone who loves political and sci-fi adventure stories.

"The evening city lay decrepit and silent under an incessantly seething pink sky. A sky that hung overhead like a field of bloody cotton candy, bisected by the lightning of constantly raging storms. Every once in a while, thunder rolled through the streets, shaking the buildings. This was life after the last Black Rain."

Pink Corrosion is a sequel to Costi Gurgu's Green Corrosion—a book that I read and enjoyed. Green Corrosion introduced a world where a black rain had changed everything forever. Far worse was the idea of living in a world full of uncertainty because you couldn't trust nature to continue with its expected cycles, and there was always the fear of what another black rain might bring. Those, however, weren't the only themes introduced—there was the suffering of those with Green Corrosion, a medical condition resulting from the black rain, and the possibility of evolution that another black rain might trigger.

Pink Corrosion resumes the story and follows the fate of the main character. Geo has attained absolute power, yet there is an asterisk to be placed on that absolute power:

"Geo raised his eyes and looked around the table at people he wouldn’t have dared to look in the eye a year ago. People whose power preceded them and kept all others crawling and subservient and silent, never questioning them. The balance of power was ever-changing. This was not something expected in a kingdom, yet that was the reality they lived in. It was called a monarchy, yet the rules were neolithic—survival of the fittest. Geo could be challenged by anyone, and if defeated, the winner would assume absolute power. That was how he came into power, and that was how he’d lose it one day. He had no hope of lasting longer than a year. Yet he could do a lot in one year. He could leave a strong and prosperous people behind and ensure the Cave’s freedom as well."

Even though Geo has absolute power, he must deal with these powerful people constantly trying to undermine him at every step. These political conspiracies and maneuvers form a significant part of what happens in the novel.

Survival itself emerges as one of the key themes here. There is a discussion between Stev and Jon about the relative importance of human beings in a community. One of them insists that every life is equally valuable, but the other argues that the rules change when the survival of the whole community is at risk. The life of a person who can contribute more to ensuring the community's survival would be valued more. I loved this discussion because it showed how necessity (in this case, the necessity of survival) can change our values.

"These were subjects that needed to be studied in a philosophical and historical context, not as dry concepts in a subterranean cave."

Another theme closely related to survival is evolution. In fact, 'survival of the fittest' was the mantra of evolution suggested by Darwin. Gurgu puts evolution at center stage, with black rains bringing accelerated evolution.

Overall, the story kept me interested, but I found a lot of "more of the same" in here, as is often the case when reading a series. While the characters are fairly well-developed and the prose is good, with frequent sparks of excellence, it wasn't as fun as the first part. Still, it is an incredible reading experience, and I highly recommend it if you have read and liked the first installment.

In "Pink Corrosion," the second book in Costi Gurgu's "Corrosion" series, the story continues after the events of Green Corrosion. The main character, Geo Woodman, has become the leader of the Silkers. He struggles to secure the loyalty of his fractured kingdom while confronting external threats. After defeating Prince Boris and claiming his Medusa hand, Geo takes the crown amidst an unstable political landscape. However, he is faced with the deadly Silver Star posing a direct threat to his people and the warlord Han the Great, who marches toward the kingdom with his conquering army. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where toxic Black Rains have altered the planet's ecology, Pink Corrosion blends survival, politics, and warfare with environmental and mythical elements, crafting a dark and gripping narrative of leadership, love, and survival.

Costi Gurgu's "Pink Corrosion" offers a uniquely crafted science fantasy set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic future. Gurgu's worldbuilding is intricate, painting a hauntingly desolate Earth where human civilization struggles against both nature and its own remnants of technological arrogance. The kingdom of the Silkers, ravaged by environmental disaster and internal strife, sets the perfect backdrop for a story about survival and power dynamics. The atmospheric descriptions of a world where pink-tinged corrosion affects every aspect of life, from the ecosystem to the society's decaying structures, are both vivid and evocative, giving the story an otherworldly yet grounded feel.

The plot unfolds with a focus on political intrigue, as Geo must navigate treacherous alliances and enemies, both inside his court and outside. The internal conflicts among the Silkers' Commanders and Council are balanced by the external threat of the warlord Han the Great, creating tension that drives the narrative forward. Geo's relationship with Bree adds emotional weight to the story, allowing a personal dimension amid the larger political and military conflicts.

What sets "Pink Corrosion" apart from typical dystopian novels is its blend of ecological science and mythological themes. The world is not just technologically advanced or destroyed—it is a surreal fusion of corrupted nature, mutated creatures, and remnants of a society teetering between myth and advanced science. This combination lends the story a "sword-and-planet" feel, where the fantastical and the scientific coexist, elevating the novel beyond the typical dystopian genre.

Fans of dystopian and science fiction will appreciate the blend of environmental collapse and the remnants of advanced technology. At the same time, fantasy readers will enjoy the mythic and fantastical elements woven throughout. With its rich worldbuilding, engaging narrative, and seamless fusion of science and fantasy, "Pink Corrosion" deserves a solid 5 out of 5 for its imaginative storytelling and unique take on the post-apocalyptic genre.

Costi Gurgu's PINK CORROSION follows the protagonist Geo Woodman, a newly appointed prince, as he navigates the challenges of uniting the fragmented Silk Kingdom in a bleak, ecologically devastated future. Set against the backdrop of a dystopian Earth, where lethal "Black Rains" have devastated the population, the novel paints a haunting picture of survival and power struggles.Gurgu's world is vividly imagined, populated by diverse characters including the "Liquids," who consume stored water, and the "Corrosives," who survive on gelled water at the cost of becoming mutated beings. The narrative is infused with a sense of urgency as Geo faces threats from within his court and beyond. His immediate concern is Silver Star, the brother of the slain former prince, who poses a significant threat to a scientific community. However, a greater danger looms in the form of Han the Great, a formidable conqueror leading an unstoppable army. The story’s tone is somber yet compelling, reflecting the grim reality of its setting. Gurgu’s writing style is dynamic, balancing intricate political maneuvering with intense action scenes. He skillfully shifts perspectives between key characters, including Princess Bree and Geo’s grandfather, creating a rich tapestry of viewpoints. The story has a distinct edge because eco-science and mythical components are combined; it is more reminiscent of the "sword-and-planet" subgenre than of conventional hard science fiction. With a tense conclusion, the novel lays the groundwork for more exciting events in the series.

Strap in, because *Pink Corrosion* takes the *Corrosion* series to a whole new level of intense!

Geo Woodman just took down Prince Boris, but his fight is only heating up. Now crowned as the Silkers’ leader, he’s got to win over a bunch of skeptical commanders and face down a new mega-threat—Emperor Han the Great, a conqueror with his sights set on their world. It’s nonstop tension from page one!

Costi brings the characters to life in a way that’s both raw and real. Geo and Bree are in deep, fighting for loyalty, unity, and survival. Every ally feels like a mystery, and every twist will have you second-guessing who’s got their back. If you’re into deep character layers and unexpected betrayals, this book brings it all.

And let’s talk world-building—it’s dark, gritty, and totally immersive. From the Black Rain to the shadowy Caves and looming enemies, you feel the tension in every setting. It’s a dark fantasy lover’s dream with a killer dystopian edge.

The pacing? Pure fire! Secrets, betrayals, battles—every chapter hits with a new twist that pulls you deeper in. This is the kind of book you finish in one sitting because putting it down isn’t an option.

✨ *Pink Corrosion* is a must-read thrill ride that brings epic stakes and unforgettable characters. Costi nails it with this high-powered sequel!

Second book in series deepens world-building and develops characters.

I have read the first book in which we learn how Geo (the hero) changes (in more ways than one) from being an ambassador for his science wielding Cave community escaping the corrosive rain into the ruler of the feudal city society where all are affected to lesser or greater degree. It also tells of the relationship which develops between Geo and Bree, his brother's girlfriend. Please read Green Corrosion before this book so you will better appreciate the worldbuilding, factions and relationships.

Although many editing errors have slipped through in this text, I was so gripped by the story and plot twists that they were less noticeable. Geo and Bree make a good team, but they spend a large part of this tale apart on their seperate yet vital missions. The author puts his characters through a lot of trials - physical, moral and emotional. We learn more of the background to the effcts of corrosion and a theory is developed of how mankind may be evolving in the face of the devastating pollution it has created. We also learn more of the relationships and loyalties within the previous ruling family and leadership. Geo makes cogent arguments why his priorities and plans should prevail.

I received a free advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

BOOK REVIEW: CORROSION SERIES – BOOK 2

Author: Costi Gurgu

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️

After the thrilling events of Green Corrosion, Book 2 in the Corrosion series by Costi Gurgu dives even deeper into a world shaped by power, survival, and rising threats.

With Prince Boris defeated and the second Black Rain finally stopped, Geo Woodman journeys to the Golden Tower, carrying Boris’ Medusa hand as proof of victory. Crowned as the new leader of the Silkers, Geo—alongside Bree—must now win over the Council and Commanders in a race against time to stop Silver Star from destroying the Caves.

But just when things begin to settle, a new menace rises: Han the Great, an emperor who has already conquered half the world, is now heading their way.

Gurgu’s writing remains crisp, engaging, and cinematic—balancing action with emotional depth. The world-building continues to impress, with high-stakes diplomacy, unexpected twists, and powerful themes of trust, leadership, and resistance.

The cover design also perfectly matches the dark, gritty atmosphere of the story—pulling readers right into the heart of this post-apocalyptic conflict.

A solid and exciting sequel that raises the stakes and keeps the momentum going. If you liked Book 1, this one won’t disappoint.

Thankyou
Happy reading

Pink Corrosion by Costi Gurgu is an absolute page-turner, filled with tension, vivid world-building, and complex characters. Following the story from the first book, Green Corrosion, set in a dystopian future where the world has been ravaged by the ominous "Black Rain," the novel explores survival in a fractured society. Gurgu paints a vivid picture of this decaying, pink-hued world, where danger lurks in every shadow and trust is a rare commodity.

The story follows Geo and Bree, two resilient survivors who navigate the dangers of their crumbling city and the treacherous power struggles within the Rat Temple. From the tension between their protectors, the Luna guards, to the chilling presence of giant rats and the constant threat of Boris’ vicious brother, Silver Star, the novel keeps you on edge.

Pink Corrosion is a complex blend of action, intrigue, and intimate character moments, balancing dystopian horror with moments of hope and resilience. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic tales with strong characters and richly imagined worlds, this book is a must-read. Highly recommended!

Costi Gurgu brings a world of Kingdoms to life in this epic war tale. This book is the 2nd in a series, and without reading the first, adjusting took a while. The book centers around Geo and his romantic interest/partner Bree as they struggle to consolidate power of their newly acquired kingdom. They face a host of foes, the most pressing of whom is a warlord known as Han.

The worldbuilding shines through most. Gurgu properly immersed readers in what seemed like a medieval world while incorporating elements from the modern day to create a unique setting. I’d say that the book is a solid read. Its not a bad standalone read, but it would be a bit easier to follow along after reading the first book.

🤔A complicated sequel.

A few flashes of lightning appeared across the pink and cottony sky which stretched as far as the eye could see.

Inside the temple, Geo watched Bree carefully.
They were accompanied by the Luna guards...

>>>>>>>>

This is my honest and sincere opinion.

A complicated sequel between plots and betrayals in this volume 2, decidedly much more in the Fantasy style.

I had hoped for a better development in the general story of this volume, finally allowing me to better appreciate the novel, but unfortunately I never managed to get hooked on the story of this volume 2, any more than volume 1 for that matter.

Reserved for fans of the genre.

PS : beautiful book cover.
