Collateral Damage (Limelight #3) by Elisabeth Grace
4 stars!!

“She had been the one to believe in me when I was close to not believing in myself.”

Although Collateral Damage is part of a series these can be read as standalones. In this book we are treated to the story of Calder Fox and Francesca Leon. Both were childhood stars and both came from different upbringings. They worked together in their teens and now as adults their paths would cross again. Trouble was, one had gone off the rails, and the other was still waiting for their big break. Their big break was dependent on this film, so why would they cast a washed up alcoholic, drug addict?

Calder Fox was the child of a Hollywood “it” couple. He was born into wealth and the business and great things were expected of him. With the trappings of wealth and famous parents comes a multitude of temptation and Calder had tried them all. On a downward spiral his life as he knew it comes to an abrupt end when he is involved in a car accident (as a passenger) and his best friend is killed. With this comes the added complication of guilt. He was destroyed. After a stint in rehab, Calder is on the mend but the trouble is he has alienated the business against him, through drink and drugs he is black listed but now is the time to start the climb once again.

Calder was a complex character, his problems started from his family life. His parents got divorced and he stayed with his father as he wanted to become an actor and his mother was moving to Europe. His father was a busy director and so Calder was left to his own devices most of the time. If his father saw a problem, he just threw money at it, when really all Calder wanted was love. He had never felt part of a family and this is what first led him into the cesspit of alcohol and substance abuse.

Francesca (Frankie) took her acting seriously, after a run of indie films her name was finally getting out there and she finally had landed a part in a film that was already being touted as Oscar worthy. When the actor originally scheduled to play the leading man has to pull out and Calder is named as the replacement, she is incredibly upset, this was her chance and she knew that Calder Fox would destroy what she had worked so hard to build. Frankie also has her own problems too and this is one distraction that she really didn’t need.

I have to say, I loved Calder and Frankie, this movie was the making of both of them in a way. Although their start together was anything but civil it soon becomes apparent that these two have an intense chemistry and not just for the silver screen. These two complemented each other and could both relate to each other’s issues. They were the shoulder that each other needed; it was just up to them to take that leap of faith. I loved the way that Frankie helped Calder, although he thought she was just doing the “tea and sympathy” thing I am glad that he could see the wood for the trees. He needed to feel loved, he needed that connection and finally he had something and someone to look forward too. He had someone there for him, to finally help him fight his demons.

“Remember, we’re in this together. We sink or swim as a team.”

The relationship was not one sided at all, Frankie had her own demons and when she finally opened up to Calder and admitted her one secret that she had managed to keep away from the press, I could feel the pressure release off her shoulders. The way that Calder dealt with Frankie’s said issue bought tears to my ears. He could empathise, he knew what to do automatically and it was beautiful to read.

The way that addiction was dealt with in this book was sensitive and was true to life, it was not glamorised at all and the repercussions were at the forefront. I love how real the relationship between Calder and Frankie was, it was honest, and it was all about learning about each other, putting aside preconceived ideas and misconceptions. It was a voyage of discovery and seeing the person for who they were underneath, not what the paparazzi led you to believe. It was about giving people a chance, a chance to be genuine and a chance to fall in love.

“I beamed with pride at the man who had started out as an annoyance, turned out to be an anomaly, and ended up becoming my entire life.”

This book had me running a gamut of emotions, survivor’s guilt is evil and Calder had a bad case. This is a book about forgiving yourself, leaving the past in the past and trying to be the best person you can be going forward. This book was poignant; with many underlying messages and the over sensationalised Hollywood glamor was nowhere to be seen. I loved it.

“You have to forgive yourself.”
“I don’t know how.”

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I recently did a spotlight on Elisabeth Graces's Indiscretion series, which you should read if you haven't yet: Series Spotlight: Indiscretion Series And the ridiculously sexy man in that series, Max, made my book boyfriend list: Kimmy's Book Boyfriend List - Part 3. So yeah, I don't just like the author's books, I LOVE THEM. "Collateral Damage" is no exception.

This book is not just a love story. It's a story about forgiveness, redemption and learning how to trust not only yourself, but other people. The entertainment industry is a fickle one and good people are hard to come by.

Calder Fox is trying to get back on track after an accident that not only takes away his best friend, but also his career. He is just out of rehab and looking for that one role to help propel him back to the top. Francesca Leon is an up and coming actress that has finally booked what could be her breakout role. When Frankie's costar has to back out of the film, Calder is given the role. She is wary of his commitment to the movie and is basically waiting for him to screw up. Just out of rehab and still battling a lot of demons, Calder is walking a thin line of trying to stay sober while giving all he can to prove that he is a changed man.

Luckily for Frankie, her initial assumptions about Calder are totally wrong and what starts as a purely professional relationship turns into an absolutely beautiful one. Frankie starts to learn about the real Calder Fox and discovers that there is A LOT more to him than what is put in the papers. They form a wonderful friendship that blossoms into so much more. She is there for him when he struggles to stay on the straight and narrow and Calder acts as a support system when he discovers that Frankie is carrying around a secret that only a few people know about.

I will admit that just like Frankie, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. There were a few moments when Calder faced temptation and it would have been very easy for him to give into his urges, but he is able to resist. Luckily for him, he does have a great support system that wants him to succeed just as much as he does. Not to mention that he gets involved with Frankie at at time when he probably shouldn't have, but it turns out she is the best thing for him. They are actually the best thing for each other.

Towards the end of the book something great happens and Calder gives this lovely speech:
"In all seriousness, I want to talk directly to anyone out there who finds themselves lost and without hope. What I know is this—if I can come back from the brink of almost destroying myself, so can you. Forgiveness is a gift you have to give yourself and that validation comes from within. That’s the most important lesson I’ve learned through all of this. You’ve got to forgive yourself in order to move forward. Everyone deserves a second chance to start anew. We think it’s everyone else in our lives that harbor ill will toward us, and perhaps in some cases that’s true. But often the self-hatred comes from within and we just need to let it go in order to see clearly. You’re worth it. It does get better. So don’t stop trying until you find your second chance.”

See. I told you that this wasn't just a love story. Now do yourself a favor and go 1-click this book!

Elisabeth Grace has once again outdone herself with Collateral Damage. This is unquestionably my favorite book in the Limelight series so far! I knew in Picture Perfect that Calder had a story that I wanted to hear and I was anxious to see where Elisabeth would take his journey. The sun-kissed California boy is so much more than just a hunky actor and exploring the complexity of his character was an emotional journey. Elisabeth Grace did not let me down. She made me laugh, caused my heart to break, and even had me shedding some tears of both pain and elation. Calder is definitely my favorite of her characters to date and I’m already missing him.

The best part of this story for me was the authenticity of Calder and Frankie’s relationship. They constantly learned from one another, offering each other support and an alternative view with which to consider their struggles. The character growth in this story was exquisite and the best part of this book. Elisabeth Grace colored Calder and Frankie’s story with lighthearted moments of fun, instances of overwhelming emotion, and heated exchanges of sexual tension. Their connection felt deep and genuine, built on years of baggage and held together by the shared challenges of life in the limelight.

Elisabeth Grace also introduces a few new characters with the potential to be next in line for their own book in the series and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m already totally intrigued by them. Elisabeth’s writing continues to grow as she perfects her craft, dragging me deeper and deeper into the world she creates with her words. Her voice is fresh, honest, emotive, and fun, always making my heart simultaneously break and burst. I adored the storyline, which gave us so much more than the usual young Hollywood vibe. This story had a weight and significance that shined throughout the story and that ending… wow! Perfection.

I’ve decided that celebrity romances are my achilles heel, especially when they’re written by Elisabeth Grace. The beautiful, flawed, somewhat tortured Calder stole my heart and made me swoon. I felt his pain and regret and my heart broke for the demons that held him. This was a wonderful story of growth, acceptance, and love set against the backdrop of the Hollywood lights. LOVE! I highly recommend this one!

Holy Hell.
I can't believe it.
Elisabeth Grace outdid herself with Calder's story!
Review to come...

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review***
Readers first met Calder Fox in Picture Perfect. (Click here to see my review!) And as a reader I knew that he would be an intense story to read. A perfect blend of unobtainable and down to earth real is what Elisabeth accomplished when writing Francesca and Calder's story. You are introduced to Calder, and automatically except a challenge seeing as he is the product of the business. His parents worked in this business and he is a child star with a reputation that puts most others to shame. Deep down? He is struggling with his personal demons and his feeling unwelcome and not respected. He even feels this way around his new co-star, Francesca Leon. (Frankie to her friends and family.)
Frankie is another testament to Elisabeth's ability to write characters that are so real - you forget you don't actually have these fictional characters in your life. Frankie loves what she does. Acting has always been an escape for her. The hard part? Keeping her mom safe from the scrutiny that the paparazzi will serve if they found out their secret. She was not your typical Hollywood starlet, and was determined not to fall into Calder Fox's charm.
Sure, it was no mystery why A-list celebrities dropped their drawers for the 'Hollywood Fox,' but it pissed me off to know I could be affected by his charm.
Both Frankie and Fox need their current project to be successful for entirely different reasons, but help each other out because a friendship is formed and a genuine desire to see each other achieve greatness is there. Other desire, as well. The tension that forms in this "relationship for the press" is perfection to me. It is filled with tension, uncertainty and a whole lot of teasing. They both feel what they are feeling, but their lack of confidence doesn't allow them to be open with each other. Instead, every real moment is brushed under the rug as fake or not as important as it feels to them. The teasing is my favorite part. Calder brings out the spontaneous side of Frankie, and it is epic.
"Fine. I was thinking about your cock. Your long, hard, manly cock. I walk to talk about your cock. All I want to do all day is discuss your cock. How it looks, what it feels like, how big it is. Cock, cock, cock. Satisfied?"
Elizabeth doesn't downplay the struggles with Calder's addiction or the fact that it is something he will always have to deal with. She sheds light on a serious and way to common issue today. The realness of his struggle was commendable. Nowadays, stories with serious issues are often handle in such a "Here is the issue - Now it is fixed" kind of way; that is takes away some validity to the story. Not here. Even when the story is being tied up, he fiddles with this One Day sobriety chip as a reminder.
With their story blooming before your eyes, you also get to see a story of family that is beautiful beyond words. Calder and Frankie's mom have this unique connection that I doubt either could explain.
"I know what it feels like to be broken, Frankie. I would never treat her any differently than the way I did. We might not be fighting the same war, but a battle is a battle."
This was my FAVORITE line from the book. Such profound words that can be applied to so many life situations. It spoke to be long after I read it.
Collateral Damage was a FIVE for me, and I am eager to read Elisabeth Grace's future work.

~ 5 Stars ~

Well all I can say is….. Elisabeth Grace has done it again.  She just continues to amaze me with the fabulous books she writes. I have loved this series since reading Rumor Has It (book 1).  Her stories and characters are fun, sexy and just overall wonderful.  She creates stories that don't have a lot of extra drama in them, but are filled with so much emotion you can't help but connect with the characters on a personal level.

I think this book was the most emotional for me.  She touched on some serious topics such as……alcohol/drug addiction and hoarding/OCD. I thought she did a wonderful job with the accuracy of these two addictions.  She showed the raw and gritty side to what addiction can do to a person's mind and life if left unhelped. She showed us the daily struggles a person goes through just to make it day by day. But she did that all without having this book be too heavy. She was still able to put a smile on face and a blush into my cheeks ;)

I was excited to read Calder's story when we met him briefly in Picture Perfect (book 2). I knew his story was going to heart wrenching and emotional and I wasn't wrong.  I really enjoyed this book because it was about two actors who are forced to work together but realize they have much more in common and eventually fall for each other. I loved Francesca's character.  She was such a strong and loyal person.  The way she cared for her mom and eventually Calder was heartwarming. I thought Francesca and Calder had great chemistry and even their banter was cute. I loved that Ms. Grace gave us little sneak peeks of the movie they were working on through some of the dialogue in the story.

I really don't know what else to say about this book, except this is a MUST READ. Actually this whole series is. If you are looking for a book/series that will warm your heart, melt your panties, and just leave you with an overwhelming happy feeling then these are the books for you.

ARC Reviewer!

To some up this book, It was amazing! absolutely wonderful. I loved it because here you have a actor Calder who is not only hot and sexy and surfs who has live a life where no one cared about him and all he did was use everyone like they used him. Then the tragic accident of his best friend changed him and all he ever felt was guilt and agony of it all and chose to change himself.

That's when he met Frankie his co-star and talented actress of indie film. She knew about his bad ways and was determined not to let him screw it up for her trying to make it big in her first major film. As they grew to know each other and learning that Calder is determined to change his ways but Frankie is hesitant and will do anything to keep him from ruining her career.

Throughout the book when they start giving into there feelings it wasn't like most books where its always the significant other who changes them for the better Frankie may have had a part in him being better and keeping him from going back to old ways but for him to be able to see the big picture to forgive himself it took a person who was going through what he was but had a different way of going through there bad ways and a person to show him all is forgiven and that he was still loved and capable of having it.

If I can come back from the brink of almost destroying myself, so can you. Forgiveness is a gift you have to give yourself and that validation come from within. That's the most important lesson I've learned through all of this. You've got to forgive yourself in order to move forward. Everyone deserves a second chance to start new. We think it's everyone else in our lives that harbor ill will towards us, and perhaps in some case's that's true. But often the self-hatred come from within and we just need to let it go in order to see clearly. Your worth it. It does get better. So don't stop trying until you find your second chance.

Definitely well said and a moral of the story!

you did an amazing job and I cant wait to read more!!!

"Sure, it was no mystery why A-list celebrities dropped their drawers for the 'Hollywood Fox', but it pissed me off to know I could be affected be his charm. I didn't even like the guy. Not even a little."

I don't know about you but there is something about a New Adult book that takes me to a happy place. I truly enjoy watching these characters come into their own and discover all that the world has in store for them. Whether she is writing a sexy erotic serial or a fun and emotional coming of age story Elisabeth Grace always delivers a story that is near impossible to put down.

"Looks like one of those cars guys drive when they have short dick syndrome." "I assure you, that's not a problem I have." "That's not how it felt earlier today when it was pressed against my hip."

Calder Fox has been through it all and has emerged alive but damaged. Francesca Leon is the perfect it girl on the Indie scene looking to make it into the main stream. When these two former cast mates are thrust back together in a project neither can turn down sparks fly but is it enough to get past the pain of the past. Calder is fresh out of rehab and is trying to turn his life around and prove to everyone that he is working on becoming a better person. When the press misinterprets the two of them hanging out as dating these two are put in an impossible yet enticing situation.

"It seemed Frankie was destined to remain a mystery -- for now."

I went into this book with pre-conceptions of Calder being a spoiled rich Hollywood playboy, and while this might be what he thinks of himself, he is nothing like that at all. I have a serious Calder Crush. He was thoughtful, kind, romantic, sexy and beautifully innocent and damaged. He needs the loving and caring side of Frankie and he desires the hellcat she is in bed. These two together are everything I could have wished for.

"I had a feeling I'd follow this man almost anywhere."

Elisabeth Grace's writing always captures me and this book was no different. Fun yet dramatic I couldn't put it down. Sexy and fun Everyone will enjoy this Hollywood romance.

"I want this to be real."

Collateral Damage follows the story of Frankie and Calder. Frankie just landed the role of her life. She's under a ton of pressure to nail this role and make it a success. Everything was going to plan until there is a change in the leading man. This change has the potential to ruin everything....

Calder is the bad boy of Hollywood and is fresh out of rehab. His career has taken a turn for the worse due to some bad choices that he's made. Now, he's looking for a fresh start and to make a mend for him mistakes. Being sober is proving to be quiet a challenge for him, but his up to the task. Calder just wants a second chance, but has to be careful because he doesn't want to ruin Frankie in the process. Calder isn't the only one who has a past. Frankie has secrets too. Will Frankie finally open up about her secrets and let someone in? Will Calder get his second chance on life?

Collateral Damage was a quick and easy read for me. I found the writing to be captivating and the story-line intriguing. I am big fan of second chances story's and this one does not disappoint. Once you get to know Calder, he is one character who really deserves it.

Collateral Damage is story about second chances, finding yourself, accepting your mistakes and the cards that you've been dealt. It's about taking chances, redemption and of course falling in love.

I loved watching Calder and Frankie's relationship evolve. They really were there for one another and gave each such great support. I couldn't help but cheer for them. I was crossing my fingers that even when thing got tough, that they would have the strength to work out and that they would be able to get past anything.

Collateral Damage was a great addition to The Limelight Series. I loved the angst and romance of the story. I loved the flawed characters and the reality of the pressures that being in the limelight causes. Another fantastic read from Elisabeth Grace!

Let me start off by saying, Collateral Damage is the first book by Elisabeth Grace that I have read. However I do own all the others and they just took a quick trip to the top of my “to be read” list.

Hot, up and coming actress Francesca “Frankie” Leon is dedicated to making it to the top. She is focused on her career, making a name for herself and most importantly keeping her private life private.

Hollywood starlight- Calder Fox, born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth, has had a past of partying hard and fucking harder….until one accident turns his world upside down. Determined to show the world that he is a rehabilitated man, yet just trying to make it one day at a time- Calder brings us through the emotional turmoil one deals with when they cannot let go of the past and allow themselves to have a future.

Thrown together to work on set…..much more than passion emerges between Frankie and Calder. But make no mistake; they share a chemistry that lights the sheets on fire.

“He wrapped both of his large hands around my ankles, taking one leg and placing it on top of the couch and moving my other foot to rest on the floor below so I was completely exposed to him”

“You move your feet from where I put them, you try to close your legs at all and I stop. Got It?”

Keeping the focus on the love that was growing between Frankie and Calder, the sexiness in this book made for a scorching and tasty side treat.

What starts off as a farce for publicity fast turns into much more. Watching Calder come to terms with what he is feeling for Frankie made my heart skip a beat. Seeing these two open up and support each other through each their own personal hell was beautiful to read. Such a true and realistic relationship, written so that it gives you the ability to feel every emotion as it pours off the pages.

Elisabeth Grace has fast made herself a favorite of mine.

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD.

Calder Fox, mega actor turned recent rehab patient, is attempting to turn his life around. He’s taking responsibility for his manwhoring, addiction riddled ways, and trying to make a real name for himself…sober. When he gets the opportunity to work on the movie Collateral Damage he’s scared shitless, but he jumps at the chance to prove himself.

Francesca Leon, or Frankie to her friends, is trying to break out of the indie movie scene. She’s a super serious, no nonsense kind of girl who treasurers her privacy and her family. Her role in the movie Collateral Damage is the big break she’s been waiting for and the very last thing in the world that she needs is for Calder to roll in and fuck it up.

This creates some serious banter and drama in the beginning that I reveled in. If it was a blanket I would have wrapped it around myself all day. These two made me smile with their shy glances and confused feelings. So, so adorable.

Just so you know, I am literally holding myself back from using every addiction pun that I can think of. I am saving you from myself. BUT OH MY GOD I really loved Calder & Frankie. There was so much chemistry going on I thought I was back in high school. (ok, I traded addiction puns for that. I’M SORRY). But seriously, I could feel my heart beating as they started to move away from friends territory and into the something more category…I was so nervous for both of them. Is this what they want? Will it backfire? Will Frankie be able to release her secrets? Will Calder be able to let Frankie in?

Calder’s transformation isn’t easy and when he breaks down my heart was hurting for him. He may lash out, but Frankie’s spirit and determination are perfect. Calder’s strength is so admirable…both of these characters have deep struggles, but this book gives you a peek into what happens when you let someone join you in your own fight. I loved it!

I've now read all three books in the Limelight Series and I have to say that Collateral Damage was definitely my favorite. With each book that Elisabeth Grace publishes, her writing style gets more captivating and enticing. Her characters latch onto you and devour your attention; so much so that you don't want to put her books down.

My heart just ached for Calder. Even though his troubles were all brought on by his addictions and his choices, I just felt like he deserved a break. I felt like he needed to find a way to love himself and to find some peace. I didn't think I would feel empathy for his character and it surprised me when I did.

Frankie was so serious and so in control of every aspect of her life. She created this perfect image of herself and she feared (not for herself necessarily) that someone would see the cracks in her world. Her character has the potential to come off at pretentious but instead she comes across as sweet, loving and kind. I really liked her.

I wanted these two to find their happily ever after. My heart was rooting for them.

Calder and Frankie's scenes are filled with quick wit and banter as well as heart felt confessions. I was a bit torn when reading Collateral Damage - I wanted to just scoop up and hug the two but all their drama is layered with this incredible chemistry they share - it's sensual and erotic. Their pairing is so freaking arousing and passionate. It leaps off the page and leaves you feeling hot. I would be the first in line at their movie.

I loved this book. I highly recommend Collateral Damage and suggest you check out the entire Limelight Series.

Where to begin? I think I have to start with something that is so minor in the book it won't even matter to most people.
Landon Steele makes an appearance in this book and just the mention of his name makes me swoon. (Landon's story is found in Picture Perfect - the second book in the Limelight Series.)

On a more serious note I loved this book. Elisabeth Grace hit it out of the park once again. Calder and Francesca had some serious chemistry to go along with the very serious themes in this book.

Elisabeth wove sex and seduction into a story that could have gone without in the most brilliant way. It didn't seem forced, it was a natural progression for the couple and for their situations.

I loved all the little moments between the couple that show their relationship forming, that is what makes the book for me.

Despite the struggles these characters face, they are very likable and it makes you want to root for them.

If you haven't read the first two books in this series I suggest you do it now. Rumor Has It, and Picture Perfect. (Although this could be read as a standalone - where is the fun in that?)
And while you are at it pick up her Indiscretion series. Yeow!

I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I've always loved this series, and was looking forward to Calder's story from Picture Perfect.

Elisabeth Grace did a great job in creating a flawed but admirable character in Calder. He fights his demons everyday and tries so hard to keep his life in check. When he meets straight and narrow Frankie on his first film since fighting his addition, the pressure of keeping himself clean and feelings of being unworthy of anything good in his life start to suffocate him.

Frankie was a great heroine, a hard working actress who at first doesn't want Calder's well known bad habits ruining her first big movie, but ends of falling for the good man Calder really is. She had a quiet strength about her and became Calder's rock.

The attraction between Calder and Frankie was intense, I drooled over Calder right along with Frankie. It was also awesome to see Landon from Picture Perfect again!

I love how this series makes you feel like an insider on the lives of the rich and famous. Another great book by Elisabeth Grace.

I really enjoyed Collateral Damage by Elisabeth Grace. In Collateral Damage tells the story of Frankie and Calder. Calder is a hot shot actor who is a California boy. Frankie and Calder work together on screen. They both try to heal each other and support one another too.

Collateral Damage was a smooth story telling about two people who struggle with their emotions. Frankie likes to keep her life private and Calder is working on proving to be a changed man.

Frankie and Calder were cute together and loved how they helped each other through their hardships in life.

Elisabeth Grace does a outstanding job in her story telling. Looking forward to reading more of her other books.

Um Calder is Yummy. He's troubled, loving, and determined to prove everyone wrong. I LOVED reading his journey to redemption. Calder and Frankie are sweet together and their times together are steamy. It was hot. This is so worth the one click button, you won't be sorry. I'll be rereading this many times in the future I'm sure.

This is my favorite of the limelight series so far!! I LOVED Calder and Frankie and didn't want their story to end. I even had tears in my eyes at the end of it because it was such a touching love story, and I've only ever cried at one book before. Elisabeth has done an amazing job on this series and I can't wait to read the next!!

LET’S MAKE IT SHORT:

I FELL HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH IT. EVERY PAGE OF IT. A GREAT BOOK ABOUT SECOND CHANCES. CHARACTERS ARE FLAWED AND COMPLETELY RELATABLE. MUST ONE-CLICK. THE TYPE OF BOOK YOU WILL RE-READ!

LONGER REVIEW:

Frankie Leon’s career is about to take off. She is now considered the new Hollywood It-girl. After starring on several indie films, she was now off to the big-screen with an Oscar-worthy screen play. It would move her career into greater heights working with topnotch directors and actors.

Problem is, Hollywood bad-boy and newly-reformed Calder Fox will be her leading man - for a big career-changing project this poses to be a big problem for her. But Calder was more than what the eyes meet. Because despite his past, despite what the press says about him, Frankie says a different side of him that poses a threat into her heart.

He’s charming, sober, and was on the way into changing his life for the better? But his past is so less than stellar. The moment he lost his friend had been the turning point of his life, but he had not yet forgiven himself for it. I admire his determination of remaining sober. Of course, there were a lot of temptation, and curve roads along the way – it was hard, it was painful, it was heartbreaking, but he survived. She was a big help. She was willing to do about just anything for him. In return, she trusted him with her deepest, most-kept secret.

Frankie has a big, big heart and sees everything nice in people. She initially doubted him, hated him, see him as trouble. The more she gets to know him, the closer they get. Question is: can he stay sober? Can he finally forgive himself and allow himself to be happy?

The story of change, of hope, of love, and of the second chance in life will just get to you. This is one of my must-read books this 2015 so far. I loved the intensity of emotions the moment I started reading it. Elisabeth Grace had caught my attention right from the first page, it stayed with the book until I reach the epilogue. This is something that will hook you, get you addicted, make you cry a little, and of course, get you to fall in love.

A Hollywood star trying to make a comeback after spiraling down the rabbit hole of alcohol, drugs, and sex—doesn’t that sound familiar to us all? Calder Fox is the quintessential A-List bad boy, and readers first meet him just as he’s hit rock bottom. The prologue finds Calder in a substance-fueled car crash that kills his best friend and propels him into rehab. It’s not pretty, but it’s real, and it introduces two themes that run throughout Collateral Damage—disorders and second chances.

This isn’t just your run-of-the-mill romance, and that’s exactly why I liked this book so much. Substance abuse isn’t new to fiction, but author Elisabeth Grace tackled another mental health issue that we don’t see so often. I won’t give any spoilers, but I do think that Elisabeth was able to portray these serious topics in a realistic (to me, at least) and compassionate way without making the story seem too heavy.

That said, Collateral Damage is still primarily a love story between Calder and his costar Francesca Leon. They’re opposites in that Calder’s known to be wild and reckless, while Frankie’s all proper and poised. Their differences make them perfect for each other though, with Frankie centering and supporting Calder as he struggles with his demons and Calder helping Frankie loosen up and cope with her mom’s own problems.

Both characters undergo changes in the course of the story, with Frankie overcoming her initial prejudices about Calder. But it’s Calder who grows the most. I really felt for him as he battled the impulse to return to his old ways, and I admired how he was able to pull through and come to terms with his past.

Frankie and Calder definitely make for a compatible couple, but by the end of the book, I saw each of them for the strong, compassionate individuals that they are. And because this is a romance, I have to mention that they have some very hot scenes too! Overall, they have a good balance of physical and emotional connection.

While there were some points that could’ve been improved, Collateral Damage is my favorite book of Elisabeth’s so far. It’s enjoyable without being fluffy and relevant without being preachy. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

This book was great. You read about the characters facing their worst demons and learning that if a person really cares about you they won’t see you differently because of them, in fact they will help you with them. Calder Fox grew up in the Hollywood spot light because of who his parents where. He acted at a young age. He was getting drunk and high in his teens and because of it just about lost his career. His friend wound up getting hurt in the process because of his actions. Now his is cleaned up and ready to work again, this time taking it seriously. This is his last shot if he messes it up nobody will hire him on to act again. Francesca Leon has a secret she keeps from the world. It’s not even her secrets to tell but she loves the persons whose secret it is more than anything. She is known for acting in indie films this is her shot at the big times. She is all set then learns that the actor who was supposed to star opposite her has been replaced by Calder Fox. She has worked with him the past before he got cleaned up. They were just kids then. But she remembers how he was and assumes he will be the same way this time. She quickly learns that Calder has changed and finds herself attracted to him. I enjoyed this book. Reading how they both overcome things that have held them back in the past was great. Calder in particular had to come to terms with what happened in his past. He was afraid that he was tainting Francesca with his past and he really didn’t want to do that. Francesca helped him be showing him that she was going to be there for him even if he didn’t want her too. Sometimes all we need is for someone else to believe in us for us to really start to change. I got sucked into the book and had a hard time putting it down. They went through their ups and downs in their relationship but came better on the other side. I hope to read more to read more books in this series. Fear not if you haven’t read books one and two in the series you can read them as standalone books. I have read book 1 but not 2 and then read this one. Elisabeth is now on my list of favorite authors.

I'm never sure what I'm going to get when I start a book that has actors or other celebrity types as the main characters. Usually it's your typical one famous star, one nobody falling for each other, then trying to reconcile their very different lives. But here in Collateral Damage, we've got two stars-one with a wild boy past, the other with a family secret-and a story that will totally consume you.

Start with two excellent lead characters. Francesca ("Frankie") is strong, independent, careful of her reputation and family privacy, and is very easy to like. Calder, our bad boy with a checkered past who is now cleaned up and trying to stay that way...he's the hot star trying to make a comeback, and his dedication, perseverance and commitment will have your respect and also earn him a solid place on your book boyfriend list. He shows true strength of character, even if he feels himself faltering at times.

Next, you'll get passionate writing and a solid story with true depth of plot that delves into some difficult situations, handling them with care while still presenting the reality of the damaging toll they can take on family, friends and our lead characters.

Throw in some interesting supporting characters (though most of the focus is aimed on Frankie and Calder) and a very healthy dose of drama and emotion, you won't want to put this book down until you've powered through it all-most likely in a single sitting like I did. Add some sizzling hot steamy scenes, and you've got a 5-star read that will have you adding every one of this author's books to your TBR if you haven't already.

Definitely recommended, 18+...and you'll love Calder-it's impossible not to.

This is the 3rd book in the Limelight series, with Rumor Has It and Picture Perfect being books 1 & 2, and I got to say, this one was my favorite. I was expecting it to be about Katie. Books 1 & 2 mention the three friends, Ellie, Skye, and Katie. Book 1 was Ellie, book 2 was Skye, so I assumed book 3 would be about Katie. Once I got over this initial disappointment, I loved this book. It is the story of Calder (bad boy actor needing PR in book 2) and Frankie, both Hollywood actors. Calder has a reputation to recover, and Frankie has a secret to hide. The recovery that Calder is going through feels very genuine in this book. I wish more time would have been spent on seeing him in AA (does he talk or just listen?), but his emotions and his cravings, and the anxiety and panic, the anger, the depression, the regret, the guilt...it all felt so real, so genuine, that I found myself saying to book "Don't lift that bottle!". Frankie was good for him. She spends so much time taking care of people thought. She is definitely a "fixer". I felt bad that her life was reduced to picking up the pieces of her mother, and picking up the pieces of Calder...she was definitely the strong one. Calder's redemption was beautiful to read. This book hit all the ride notes, romance without being cheesy. I've had books 1 & 2 in my kindle for well over a year, and just purchased book 3 "to complete the series". Wasn't sure when I was going to read it, but finally forced myself to give a new author a try, and I am so glad I did. Elisabeth Grace has a new fan in me.

My first experience with Elisabeth Grace's writing was the Indiscretion series. Which I thoroughly enjoyed. Her books have a light airy feel to them, even when they go into a heavy subject matter. You never feel weighted down, while reading her books. I found Collateral Damage very refreshing. It has a YA (Young Adult) feel to it with charming likable characters. The gripping prologue sets you up for a fun yet dramatic book.

Calder and Frankie are adorable. He's Hollywood's bad boy and she's the new it girl. Thrown together to make an Oscar worthy film... Could this be the best thing that happen to them or is it the worst?? I fully enjoyed getting to know them. Each of them appear to have the world at their feet... But looks can be deceiving. Each of them have secrets, they try to keep hidden. Turmoil in their personal lives. It's a touching story about finding that special someone who will fight for you and be in your corner. To show you the love you think you don't deserve. The book also has a powerful message about second chances and forgiveness.... being forgiven and forgiving yourself! Calder and Frankie have a beautiful connection and wonderful intimacy. Plus, they are just fun!! You will enjoy their journey. I like the way it wrapped and went full circle in the end. Great conclusion. I plan on reading more from Elisabeth!

I really liked this book, so much so that I finished it in one sitting. Now granted the blurb drew me in and it was worth it. Well at least Calder was.

I loved how beautifully damaged Calder is. His recovery wasn't glorified and he struggled. He wasn't magically cured and he actually stayed true to his program. I can't imagine having those kinds of demons and I know some people who do and it is a struggle everyday and I commend the author for acknowledging that. The sexy time was great too and we all know how I love the sexy time!!

What I liked but didn't love was Francesca, our heroine, "secret". I liked her...she was great. Her commitment to her craft is admirable and the fact that even though she was nervous about working with Calder, she gave him the benefit of the doubt and got to know him better before completely blowing him off. Their chemistry was cool and it wasn't insta-love. Her secret, however, was dumb as hell to me. I mean I get it with the paparazzi and all but I'll be damned if I was giggling my tukus off when the big "secret" was revealed. I was expecting something more salacious than that but c'est la vie! So 4 out of 5 stars for this Hollywood Romance. For more reviews visit www.textteaser.wordpress.com

3.5 stars

Do you love Hollywood and Movie stars? If you do, then this is the book for you! Calder Fox was the child of a Hollywood power couple. Poor little rich boy. He has it all at his fingertips and then he doesn't care. He has been in and out of rehab. It finally took a fatal accident to get Calder to clean up his act. Now Calder is out of rehab and ready to reestablish himself in the movie industry.

Francesca Leon is the queen of indie films. Now she wants to move onto blockbusters. She finally has been cast in a great movie, and who has been cast as her male lead? None of than Calder. They have worked together in the past when Calder was a high mess. Now that they are working together, Frankie is freaking out. She is a perfectionist. She likes to have control and be the best at what she does. Frankie doesn't know if that will happen with Calder.

Calder and Frankie seem to be able to fill the hole in the other's life. They fall into a friendship that later turns into more. Both open up to each other, like they never have before.

Another great book by Elisabeth.
