I love Emily Hayes books, but I couldn't connect with this one. I honestly couldn't get past a Trauma Surgeon leading a combat unit.

Military terms
I normally enjoy Ms. Hayes' stories. This series is not my favorite. in this book, the MCs don't have Ms. Hayes' normal in depth character building. And the story didn't flow as smoothly. The plot of the story is decent and fair. However, as a US Army veteran who served in an aviation brigade, I found many military errors that I struggled to wrap my head around. There was a bit more angst than possible by such senior officers, using the word Comrade for soldiers not from Russia (especially if they're from the US which I assume is such since she brought up the Apache), constantly switching between plane and helicopter (I believe helicopter is the only likelihood in these missions), walking instead of moving out, a trauma surgeon leading a combat unit, a pilot leaving their helicopter during a mission in hostile territory, a transport helicopter having the ability to fire rounds from the cockpit, having an Apache present but as those are one of the few helicopters with the ability to rapid fire ammo from the cockpit, the Apache should have been doing so, etc. Also, the only conflict with a Lt Col and a Major being in a relationship is if the Lt Colonel was a direct supervisor to the Major. And in a military unit, a trauma surgeon and a pilot wouldn't be. they'd be in separate squads at the minimum.
I probably will try to read the rest of the series, just because I AM a fan of MS Hayes.

Another successful deployment into war and a safe return!
Emily Hayes writes as if she herself deployed! It is truly an art that few are willing to share. The emotions that go with our troops on each mission are entirely too hard to imagine. Those of us that have lived similar experiences including hiding feelings and desires with fellow soldiers, understand the extra stress and the deep commitment to each other. These characters have taken on additional roles and responsibilities from my own personal experience, that just intensifies the story. War is not for the feint of heart. Emily has made it real, difficult and showed compassion and love for comrades and soul mates. Well done Emily.

An incoherent mess
This book was just incoherent. The pacing was off. The characters were two-dimensional. They had chemistry, but so much was wrong with this book that the chemistry didn't really matter. They both behaved badly, too. I read book 1 and loved it, but this book seems like it was written by a different author. Was it just a rush job? The writing wasn't very good and I didn't even bother to mark most of the errors. I marked 27, I think. This book needs a real editing/proofing. There were moments that were interesting, but they weren't enough.

Battle Warriors
Lieutenant Colonel Izzy Oakley is a skilled surgeon and driven soldier. When she meets Major Drew Mitchell, a pilot and skilled fighter, they clash but sparks fly between them. As they move forward during their deployment, they find themselves embroiled in a passion for each other. A sapphic military romance. Great series.

Emily you are amazing Author
Emily the way you wrote this Marvelous story from page one to the absolutely beautiful ending almost had me in happy tears. I caught the part in the end and said they only have one child what did I miss. Your ending was fabulous.

Love military personal?
This series is for you. The amount of spice and plot provides such a feel-good story with the couples. This one is for sure my favorite one so far.

I liked it. Especially the ending. A lot of back and forth and miscommunication early on in the story, but they eventually deal with problems together.
