Fortuna Sworn #5

Endless Terrors

Rate this book
Every child had a monster in their closet. Not every child opened the door and slaughtered it.

To protect the ones she loves, Fortuna has left behind everything familiar and dear.

She can't let down her guard. She can't rest. She can't stop moving. Not if she doesn't want her ever-growing abilities to be used as a catalyst for a monster's entrance into the world.

After everything she's been through, Fortuna thought she knew death. She believed herself well-acquainted with betrayal. Then, in her determination to keep surviving, she stumbles upon one more secret. One more answer to a question she’s been asking for over a decade.

One more truth that might actually succeed in completely shattering her.

Second read: I told myself I would not cry this time around since I knew what was coming.
I failed.
I did cry.

And I am still rooting for a throuple as the romantic endgame.

We were old friends, grief and I. At least I knew what to expect during its long visits.

Endless Terrors picks up a few months after the end of Beautiful Nightmares. Fortuna is on the run now that she knows the Devil himself is after her, and her family is scattered and in hiding. Fortuna can’t spend the rest of her life running, though, and the Devil eventually runs out of patience because Fortuna is faced with an ultimatum: if she wants Lucifer not to kill her brother, Fortuna must go to Hell with him.

The world-building expands in this fifth installment, and I adore how the author took some pieces of Greek mythology and mixed them into the history of Lucifer. We can also see how everything is coming together now. How things that happened in the previous books are finally making sense, and how things that seemed unrelated or minor were more important than we thought, and how everything is finally shaping up for the grand finale. The author did a great job, and it’s clear that there is a lot of thought that went into this series to link all the books together and to have an arc-plot that slowly revealed itself. So many loose ends were tied up in Endless Terror, and we are now ready for the big showdown.

The writing is great, as it was in all the previous books, but I did find that some parts near the end felt a little rushed. The pace was crazy, and with everything that was happening, I think that some sub-plot lines near the end could have been more developed. Also, while I loved Fortuna’s time in Hell, I really missed the rest of the gang, and I wished we’d seen more of them in this book. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if it had had a few extra chapters, maybe to show us how Fortuna’s family was surviving while she was in Hell, or simply to let us absorb everything that happened in the last 10%.

Grief could bring anyone together… even a Nightmare and a demon.

I was surprised to see how much room Lucifer had in this book. I expected him to become an important player, but he is the character we saw the most, after Fortuna. There was some good sexual tension between Fortuna and Lucifer, and I liked how conflicted Fortuna was about him. She knew he was the devil, and she hated him (or should hate him at least), yet she felt attracted to him because of his ability to be what others desired, and maybe also because Fortuna felt that she didn’t need to hide her darker side with him. I also didn’t expect to like Lucifer that much. I knew I would love him as a villain, but he was actually quite charming… and also cunning and ruthless, thankfully. I was afraid for a while that he would end up being this charming, misunderstood fallen angel with no real evil plan, and that would have been disappointing.

“You can’t say you wouldn’t do the same if you were in my position.”
“I wouldn’t, actually. Because what you’re doing is giving up. You’re being a martyr, Fortuna. And despite what the legends say, there’s nothing romantic about a martyr. It’s just tragic.”

Fortuna continues to be more careful about her decisions, because of how it can and will affect her family, but she is still more than willing to put her life at risk in an instant if it means protecting those she loves. Once again, she showed us in this book how strong, determined, and resilient she is, and even though she has been frustrating at times in this series, it’s easy to love her and her flaws. She is the star in this book, and the guys (sadly) are relegated to the background. I love her growth, and this fifth installment is all about her journey to become who she needs to be to defeat the Devil in the final book, but I missed the guys! And, even if some parts broke my heart, I do think that it was all necessary for her character to get where she needs to be mentally for the final book, and give her the motivation and drive to do what needs to be done… But it was still fucking heartbreaking.

“I’ll bring everything we need for dinner,” Laurie replied. “You just bring the wine and the sex swing. Actually, on second thought, I have those things, too, so never mind.”
My lips twitched, but I didn’t respond. I hung up, wondering how Laurie always managed to do that—make me smile when everything was terrible.

“You’re one to talk. You went into Creiddylad’s tomb without knowing if you’d come out,” I pointed out.
“That was different.” Laurie shook his head and started eating again.
I scoffed. “Oh, yeah? How do you figure?”
Laurie’s palm slammed down on the table with a thunderous thwack, and the entire thing shook. “Because it was me making the sacrifice!”

Once again, Laurie saves the day in the first half of the book with his humor and charming personality. He always seems to know what to do or say to Fortuna to help her or push her in the right direction. We are used to the light and playful Laurelis, but we also see his fiercely protective side in this book, and the side of him that realizes he might have missed his chance with Fortuna when he chose to take back his throne, and regrets it a little. I love that even if he wanted to lock Fortuna away to keep her safe, in the end, he let her make her choices, whether he agreed with them or not. I said it since the first book, he is the MVP in this series, and the one I’m rooting for romance-wise. I am in love with him, despite his flaws, and I love the more serious (and swoon-worthy) side he showed in Endless Terrors.

Collith won some points in this book, too. He was more likable, and like Laurie, he voiced his opinion but ultimately let Fortuna decide what she wanted to do. He didn’t try to manipulate her, lie to her, or make her feel guilty for her choices, which is an improvement. I am starting to like him again, and I am happy about that because it sucks when you don’t like one of the love interests in a series. I said many times that I would be all in for a throuple, and this book only confirmed that it could be an option for Fortuna. There is an undeniable chemistry between Laurie and Collith, and I think it would be sad to lose that.

That being said, I feel that Laurie and Collith were viciously undermined in this book. Fortuna went from being in love with both of them, and us waiting impatiently to see who she would pick, to her falling for the Devil’s sexy body and getting even closer to Ollie. That is not what I signed up for. I want Laurie, or a throuple, or nothing at all. Please and thank you.
But yeah, I understand that some of it (or maybe even most of it) was necessary for the Lucifer plotline to fully develop, and for everything to be ready for the final book… So I am complaining, even though I understand the reasoning and am not really complaining in the end…

With Ollie, what we had felt like water. Soothing, beautiful, familiar. Collith was wind and earth. Inevitable, powerful. Laurie was fire. Crackling, hot, hungry fire that affected everything in its path, no matter how fast you ran from it.

We finally got all the answers about Ollie, and I didn’t see it coming. I knew there would probably be some twist, that he was more than just Fortuna’s imaginary friend, but I was blindsided by the truth of who and what he is. We also saw less of him and the dreamscape, which was good because I got a little tired of it by the end of book 4. Still, for the first time, I am excited to see what will happen between Fortuna and him in the next book!

“I’ve never had a normal family,” he said abruptly. “To be honest, I never had much interest in it. Nicky was the closest I ever came. But then I ended up in that small, white room with you, and I finally got it. The point of all this. Meeting you has made it easier, losing Nicky. Going through all this newborn shit. You’re like the kid sister I never had, Sworn.”

“You harmed our queen. As long as you’re alive, you’re a threat to her,” Ariel said.
“But she wouldn’t want us to take a life. Especially not for her sake,” Gil added. “I don’t understand it, myself.”
“Our queen does have a tender heart. She’s a fascinating creature.” This from Laurie.

The found family trope is one I adore, and Fortuna has been building herself a family of strays since the first book. While their bonds get stronger with each book, I also feel that we see less and less of them as the series progresses, and I am sad about it. I missed them and I am desperate for them to be able to spend some time together before everything goes to hell again (no pun intended 😉). They suffered a huge loss at the end of this book, and they better have some time to regroup and comfort each other in the next book because they need it, and so do I!

Overall, it was another amazing book in an amazing series. The author managed to balance a well-developed plot with some character development and a dash of romance and spicy moments, and I devoured this book. Now I just need to patiently wait for the final book and send all my energy into wishing that Laurie will be the endgame. I don’t care if it’s in a monogamous relationship or not, I just want him to be the endgame.

When this book’s world would actually be better off without the idiot FMC. I said what I said.

𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆:
₊⊹⁀➴ First, Fortuna is the equivalent of a pubescent horndog boychild who can’t keep it in her pants.

₊⊹⁀➴ Second, there is a part of me (and I know it is 100% of me) that was stupidly naive to read this fifth installment of the series, and have subsequently lost brain cells in the process.

₊⊹⁀➴ And third, while book one unconditionally and irrevocably ripped off ACOTAR, book five felt the need to mimic Exodus (book two of The Ravenhood series). This girl’s in love with two men equally at home, one dark and one light (and at the same time), but all thoughts run full-speed out the window when the big bad devil decides he wants to fuck you?? And then you’re too stupid to see that he was using you?? And then you go and fuck up again???? And the entire time you're telling yourself you should know better, but make the bad decision anyway?? WHERE IS YOUR WILLPOWER???? Feminism has completely left your body Fortuna.

I want to say my eyes rolled so far back but I think I might have gouged them out in the process for whatever the hell this mess was 😵☠️

While I know it’s not formulaically possible, book six should end with Fortuna’s death and everyone can go about their merry lives!! SORRY NOT SORRY.

Pre-review:
I gave this series a couple months rest to finally finish book 5 (ya’ll remember me trashing my rereads, equating the books to a plastic gas station vending machine ring??), and I sadly just need it to be over. Will it actually deliver?? I want to say I have hope but let’s be real 😅 Cannot believe there’s still one more book to be written after this 😶

~deep breath in~ WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCKKKK!!!!!!

Fortuna, babe, it’s time to throw in the towel on all these fools. EVERY SINGLE MALE romantic interest has been a fucking disappointment!!!! If even your imaginary MALE best friend ends up letting you down/turning on you/was probably a huge monster the whole time, I dunno, I would take that as a big ass sign from the universe that it’s time to become a lesbian. Call up Gwyn, take her up on her offer, ride off with the Wild Hunt and go live your best life.

- - - - - -

For the love of the book gods, please, please, please let it be Lucifer. I’m so over these terrible choices in men. Collith is THE WORST. Laurie is great but he didn’t choose her so fuck him. Ollie has been on the sidelines for 5 books so, no. I’m praying for Lucifer to just swoop in and throw down a fated mates card, whisk her away and they can both rule in delicious darkness. PLEASE!!!

This book was fast-paced, entertaining, and addictive to read... but it was also a little chaotic 😅 I still enjoyed it though!

✅ There were a ton of reveals in this book and I felt like we made a lot of forward progress to some sort of ending, even though I still have no idea how everything is supposed to somehow get resolved by the end, there is just so much going on

❌ I felt like Laurie and Collith were done a little dirty in this one with how the romance played out 😢 I'm not sure how this could have been avoided with the Lucifer plot-line though

✅ I thought Lucifer was an interesting character, and I like how the twist happened, I'll be honest I did not see it coming 😆 I thought the relationship between Fortuna and Lucifer was believable given the circumstances, even though it wasn't my favorite thing to happen

✅ I was never a huge fan of Oliver, so I'm not super upset about how his story was handled. I'm interested to see where it goes, I feel like there has to be a chance of redemption there somehow, idk 😆

✅ I think this is the spiciest book in the series so far ❤️❤️ I'll just leave it at that to not give out any spoilers!

Overall, I enjoyed this book. There is a lot going on... sometimes it feels like too much/too chaotic because I have no idea how this is all supposed to get resolved in the next and final book 🤔 But it's entertaining and I'll definitely continue reading it to find out!

This book made me irrationally mad. I LOVE THIS SERIES, but this was not it.

First, the whole book felt like filler. It felt like we were just mosing around, doing nothing, with no point to anything. It felt like we just constantly went in circles with the same thing being said over and over again. Half of this could have been cut and put into a different book.

Now whats crazy, is that while I say nothing happened the parts that did have something… weren’t well developed? She falls in love with Lucifer. WHY! There was literally no reason. Shes like wow this is the hottest man I’ve ever seen (uhm, Laurie is over there but okay guess you’re dumb now too) and thats the only real reason for their connection that we are ever given.

Now the whole Lucifer thing was done soooooo poorly. You can do a good/bad Devil so well. Case in point- Lucifer TV show, Hades from Lore Olympus, and of course everyone’s favorite (mine) Rhysand. This was not that! He was boring, bland, and the violence was just not giving. Laurie killing Ian without even knowing why he should? Thats the shit. This completely missed the mark.

I still don’t think I can speak on the Oliver situation because that’s fucking insane, I think it’s dumb and I hate it. I can’t get over her being dead and having sex with him. This whole section was nonsense and came from nowhere.

I also wish Fortuna was more open about having multiple partners. There is nothing wrong with that- but I do think communication needs to happen. Collith and Laurie are obviously okay with the three of them- but it seemed like they were not with Lucifer (FUCKING OBVIOUSLY) but then she immediately repeats the action with Olliver? Again, not that they should tell her what to do but there needs to be a conversation about what everyone is comfortable with and ensure everyone is taking protections with other partners 😭

Girl falls in love with everyone.

This was like two books in one. Thought we were picking up steam and something highly sought after was developing and then girl spent half the book away from all of our friends and main players.

Parts of this felt like a jumbled mess. I had a lot of heavy sighing moments with decisions that were made and some of the revelations. The last 10% of the book seemed to really set up the final book. Which I will be reading. So there’s that.

Manifesting an epic conclusion. That isn’t stupid.

4.5 <3

This series has become such a comfort for me this year and I'm so grateful I was able to read an advanced copy of Endless Terrors (although the wait for book 6 will be SO LONG😭).

Fortuna Sworn is easily my favorite ongoing fantasy romance series and this fifth installment proves it yet again. I've mentioned in other reviews of this series that Fortuna has become my present-day Twilight and I still stand by that!!

We finally get some very interesting reveals and the ending had me REELING. K.J. Sutton found the perfect balance between plot, romance and character development for me, which is the reason I'm so incredibly invested in these characters and their relationships even five books into this series. At this point I would honestly defend my girl Fortuna with my life. She is such a resilient and strong character that you can't help but root for, even though she can be very frustrating at times.

I enjoyed the plot in the previous installments but I *loved* it in Endless Terrors. Every new character and setting we were introduced to made so much sense for the story and I can't wait to see how everything comes together in the final book! One of my favorite things about this series is the way in which the author weaves together so many different inspirations from folklore and myth into such a gritty and creative yet incredibly realistic world, which was especially well done in this fifth installment.

The only reason this is not a full 5 for me personally is just the fact that I was reading and getting distracted by A Song of Ice and Fire so it took me a little while to get through Endless Terrors. That being said, though, I cannot wait to go back and re-read the entire series over and over again until book 6 comes out <3

If you've been looking for a fantasy romance series that's actually dark and hart-hitting, this is your sign!!

5 books and the girl is still playing victim every time she messes up. Endlessly seeking approval from men. Thinking she can solve her life problems collecting dicks like Pokémon. The way this book ruined a series that could have gone a different direction and finally give Fortuna some character development is comical.

NOPE. Still don’t like this book.

There’s so many things I dislike. Fortuna acts purely with her vagina in this book and it honestly disgusts me. The fact that she fell for Lucifer so quickly despite the terror he bought to her AND her family. The same man who tortured Collith. She doesn’t think about her family or Laurie or Collith when they are fucking. Then she fucks Oliver soon after coming back after she found out she just fucked everyone over because she fell in love with the literal Devil and let him into the world.

I’m still very upset that Finn died but I didn’t properly cry because I was so mad at Fortuna and because it seemed like a senseless death just to make Ollie irredeemable.

Collith and Laurie were lovely even though we barely saw them but I especially loved Collith.

We don’t even know why Emma was vomiting up blood and was in the hospital but now she’s fine??

Omg I hope the last book is good.

Original Review
This book is 4 stars because of my love for the series but the more I think about it, I think my rating would be lower (maybe 3.5) which breaks my fucking heart because this is one of my favourite series of all time and has been my most anticipated book, like ever.

I was shocked that we spent 90% of the book in hell. I know the author was setting up the relationship between Fortuna and Lucifer but I feel like the author was teasing a throuple between Fortuna, Collith and Laurie so hard when we barely saw them. We had one threesome but that was it and there was no real relationship development.

In fact, we barely saw any of our beloved found family in this book. We don’t even know how Emma got sick and how she got better. Also, the fact that we didn’t see any of Finn in this book and then he died was so heartbreaking. I thought it might’ve been Finn that died since Fortuna loves him so much but it still really hit me and made me cry.

I also found Lucifer to be charming but I didn’t trust him at all and I was missing Laurie and Collith. Fortuna barely thought of them in hell and I know Lucifer can reel you in by being what you desire but I thought it was crazy that she fell in love with him. I know my girl can sometimes make dumb decisions but she is either extremely dumb or Lucifer’s desire magic is really strong but it was never really explained.

I have to say that the situation with Ollie shocked me. I did not see that coming at all. The fact that he was actually her first monster and killed her parents and then Finn like are you kidding!? I really liked Ollie because he was the one love interest that didn’t hurt her but he’s literally the worst.

Speaking of love interests, one of the things I’ve love about this series is the multiple love interests but I feel like when you are at the fifth book in the series with only one book left that Fortuna REALLY needs to pick a lane. I think it’s kind of cruel to Collith and Laurie to bounce between both of them and two other guys and no one acknowledges it. I know she’s technically not in a relationship but still. It really concerns me because I don’t know how the author is going to properly end the romantic relationship between Fortuna and Lucifer and Ollie whilst also forming a throuple (assuming that’s where it is going) between Fortuna, Collith and Laurie that isn’t surface level. IN ONE BOOK.

I still love Fortuna even though she makes dumb decisions sometimes because she has a big heart and is always trying to do the right thing but I really hope she gets her shit together in the next book and that we have a good ending to the series. If we don’t I will literally cry. Also, the fact that we have to wait until 2025 makes me want to die but in saying that I really hope the author takes her time.

DNF at 20%… I’m so sad to be DNFing this series. Everything in me wants to continue for the characters and the world I fell in love with in the first book but 5 books deep and I just don’t feel the same for them anymore. I think this series lacks direction and is messy. Everything seems a bit cheesy too.

5 stars. 10/10.

was this perfect? perhaps not to others but this was perfect TO ME!👆 i see that i’m in the minority here but i simply: don’t care.

so glad i kept going with the series. i loved the last book too but all of that perseverance was leading up to this one. OUCH ???? this was such a wonderful yet painful experience. HOW am i supposed to wait for that next book?? HOW?!

finally got what i’ve been wanting since book 2 but at what cost? the pain and utter betrayal from heilel but also OLVIER??? foul. AND THEN FINN?! the last 100-200 pages i couldn’t catch a mf break. my heart was left in shambles. i went from blushing, giggling, & kicking my feet to gasping in horror & blubbering like a baby.

i’m struggling to form words rn. i was just completely entertained from start to finish through the good times and the bad. i personally liked the depiction of hell and found it so interesting. i didn’t mind that so much of the book took place there and actually would’ve been fine if we spent more time there. the devil successfully seduced me and i ignored every red flag and got played right along w fortuna.

i see how everyone was irritated that fortuna boinked and went back and forth between 4 different men but honestly?? good for her. she made some VERY questionable decisions but i’m not about to hate on her for exploring her sexuality.

i’m also so glad we FINALLY learned the backstory with oliver and who he was. not so happy with what was revealed so it’s definitely one of those “be careful what you wish for” situations as it felt like i got stabbed in the chest when finally knowing the truth.

laurie is still who im rooting for no doubt, but why do i lowkey also want her to be with the devil even after everything that happened??🫢 idk yall i don’t want to analyze that.

i’ll be impatiently waiting for the next book and can’t wait to see how it ends

Collith’s and Laurie’s accidental murder cleanup: no questions asked. Those two are so unintentionally funny! I wish we had more Laurie and Collith content but Lucifer was a charming and unexpected surprise…anyway.

I’m really eating up this reverse harem. So iconic. I love them all.

The deception and betrayals in this book hit me like a damn truck though. I’m in denial about everything.

Spoilers ~~

Me ignoring that random note that said not to trust Lucifer and falling totally in love with him and being blinded by his blatant hotness and seduction — that was my bad for sure. I did not see that betrayal from him coming at all (because once again I was blinded by the devil’s tango scenes). There’s no way in hell(Tehe) that Lucifer doesn’t love Fortuna after all that!

And OLIVER WHEN I CATCH YOU OLIVER!!!!!!! I was so hyped our boy Oliver was finally gonna have his little moment and then BAM! WHAT THE ACTUAL FU-

Finn NOOOOO! I’m in agony! He was too good for this world:,(

Thinking about Lucifer makes me so mad! That motherfu- (I did this to myself with my delusional thinking)

I cannot wait for this to come out! 2023 is so far away!
Might actually be the first series that I hope the MC ends up with the friend as her love interest! Collith is a hard no, and Laurie is an absolute dream, but I think it's pretty clear he's not going to be an option- though I'd love him to be it! So I'm team Oliver if she can find a way. Fingers crossed for an early 2023 release!

So, I have been DYING to read Endless Terrors, the fifth book in the Fortuna Sworn series, for over a year. For context, if you don't know, Fortuna Sworn is super dark urban fantasy with nuanced characters, amazing world-building, and incredible writing. I was (and still am) completely obsessed. I DEVOURED the first three books, and then the fourth book, Beautiful Nightmares, ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger. So I was ECSTATIC when I got the chance to read Endless Terrors as an ARC. And WOW, I am FLOOORED! This book DID NOT disappoint. There are TONS of huge reveals and twists, there is significant character growth, and I'm just THRILLED to be immersed in this world again.

Since this is the 5th book in an ongoing series, I won't detail on the plot to avoid spoilers. As usual, Fortuna goes through some CRAZY stuff, girl does not get a break AT ALL. However, in some ways, things are looking up for her a bit. She finally has some people (well, most aren't human, but still) around her that she can trust, after she both forgives and asks for forgiveness. Though she continues to act like a martyr most of the time, she at least TRIES to make better decisions and to not be so impulsive.

The reveals about her past in this book are INSANE. A lot of questions get answered, there are new secrets and surprise betrayals, and there is some pretty significant angst (I SOBBED more than once). I love when there is significant progress in a story, so many loose ends tied up!

I think this might be the spiciest book of the series y'all. Whew, there are some HOT scenes, some of which I was NOT expecting. And don't worry - I think both Team Laurie and Team Collith fans will be pleased.

I think this book renewed my love of fantasy a bit. I've been kind of down on the whole genre for a while, but Endless Terrors reminded me why it was my favorite for so long. Kelsey's writing is so immersive and emotional, I got completely wrapped up in the world she created. I literally could not put this book down - seriously, if you haven't started the series, DO IT NOW so you can read this book when it comes out!

First, I’d like to thank KJ Sutton for the ARC. Second, I’d like to announce that I will be suing for emotional damages because that last 25% had me FUCKED UP.

Endless Terrors is everything I was hoping it would be and more. I’ve loved this series for years, and as much as I’ve loved the boys (I am a Laurie stan let’s be honest here), I’ve loved Fortuna more. This book is about her. About who she needs to become and the journey that takes her there. There are twists and turns, HUGE reveals that left me staring at the wall at 1am, and moments that I’ve been waiting for for like 4 books.

It was so wonderful to be back with these characters and the way that Sutton weaves her writing into the story is just so good!! I will say, some moments felt a bit rushed. I had wished some of those plot lines had been allowed more time to develop, mainly towards the end of the book. Everything had felt fast-paced, but I was struggling a bit to figure out what was happening at times (as there was ALOT that was happening)

All and all, Endless Terrors was a 5🌟 read and a 5🌟 experience!!

3.5 ⭐️. 3🌶️

In this book we get a change of setting, Fortuna makes a pact with the Devil and has to go to actual Hell to save her brother. Once in hell she starts ti interact with the Devil and can help but to fall for him. Though everything is not what it seems. And Fortuna gets double betrayal.

l love the trip we get to hell in this book. I was eager to learn more about Fortuna’s in hell. And I finally get the threesome I was waiting for. It seem that the story is going towards a RH which I didn’t see coming. Fortuna get it with 4 different guys in this book.

But aside from this I felt that the story is now all over the place so many things happening here that she never get a break. Her choices in this book where not the best. And you would have thought that she knew better by now but she doesn’t. This girl doesn’t know how to cope with suffering and it is costing her big. The fact that she got betrayed after fucking 2 different guys in 2 different occasions got my eyes rolling.

What I really did not see coming at all was Oliver’s identity. 😱

Now THAT’S how you tie up loose ends and prepare for the grand finale of an epic series.

I am absolutely blown away by the intricately woven tapestry that is Fortuna Sworn’s story. K.J. Sutton has an incredible ability in pulling you into a story and keeping your attention from the very beginning.

This dark romantasy series is such a refreshing and unique take on the genre. You may have seen faeries in fantasy many a time, but not like this. Sutton’s world(s) of the Fallen are so intricately woven they feel real.

This fifth installment in the six book series brought so many plot lines to their ends and brought us to the near conclusion of the series’ overarching story arc. There were even a couple twists I didn’t see coming. Oh and that little retelling I didn’t know I needed? FANTASTIC.

This may just be my favorite book in the series so far. I am equal parts never wanting this story to end, and not knowing what to do with myself until I get my hands on book six! Five stars.
