A wonderful children's book, filled with great color illustrations. A lovely interpretation of the classic tortoise and hare race.

Another telling of the race between the tortoise and the hare. While enjoying a lunch of lettuce salad with flies, Shellburt tells Harry the story of the ancient race. Harry states he would win a race between him and Shellburt, because he wouldn't make the same mistakes. The race is scheduled for the next day. History may not repeat itself, but it does mirror the past.

This is a very cute retelling of the tortoise and the hare. It has the same message of not being to modest, or don’t take breaks when achieving your goal. Only this story leaves with an even cuter ending where both Harry and Shellburt remain friends!!! I enjoyed this book a lot and maybe kids could also take from it that it is okay to have competitions with your friends as long as you are nice in the end!!
