Rising TV star Kim Murphy finds herself in a whirlwind of success she never anticipated. When her best friend Olivia Reid asks her to be her fake girlfriend for her father’s sixtieth birthday, Murphy is caught off guard. The idea seems crazy, yet she can’t say no. After all, Olivia has always been her biggest supporter during the darkest days of her career. What starts as a simple favor quickly becomes a whirlwind of emotions as Murphy comes face to face with feelings for Olivia she's harbored for years.
Olivia Reid has a dilemma. Her ex-boyfriend won't take no for an answer, and with her father's birthday celebration on a cruise to Bermuda looming, she needs a way out. Fast. She turns to the one person she trusts most, Kim Murphy, asking her to pose as her girlfriend for the trip. But what starts as a simple plan to ward off her ex quickly spirals into something much more complicated. As the lines between acting and reality blur, Olivia is forced to confront what she truly wants.
Whatever She Wants is a sapphic story of love, friendship, and the courage to embrace the unexpected. Perfect for fans of fake relationship romances with a twist, this novel will leave you rooting for a happily ever after.
Whatever She Wants is based on the episodic novel I wrote, Anything She Wants, through Kindle Vella. Although much has been added to the story, the plot is the same.

When Olivia asks her best friend Murphy to be her date for a cruise to. Bermuda, she says yes. She can’t say no to Olivia because she’s been in love with her since middle school. As the cruise passes, Olivia realizes that she has feelings for Murphy. How will they ever get through this and can Murphy protect Olivia from her ex? Love the story.
I love fake romance, friends to lovers romance stories! This is a gorgeous one! It follows Kim Murphy and Olivia Reid, best friends forever. Murphy is a newly minted tv and movie star and Olivia is a business woman working at her father's company. Murphy has been in love with Olivia for years. When Olivia asks Murphy to be her fake girlfriend on a trip to Bermuda for her father's birthday. She's trying to put off an ex-boyfriend. During their time on the trip, Olivia realized she was in love with Murphy. This follows them exploring their love and getting rid of the ex. Love this book! It's a beautiful slow burn, HOT romance! 5 stars!
Up and coming tv/movie actor, Murphy, has been in love with her best friend since the beginning of their friendship. Olivia asks Murphy to be her fake girlfriend to help her get rid of her jerk ex. On the romantic cruise, emotions awaken and blossom.
Once I started this book I didn't want to stop. This is a really good romance. The characters a very likable and interesting. Friends to lovers really fun read. Thanks
That was bad. I really can't understand the rating. The writing was so boring I was skipping paragraphs. The choice of words and expressions was so bad that I got irritated. The story between the protagonists was so boring that I had nothing to look forward to. The villain of the story was exaggerated. Nothing satisfactory ever happened because throughout the book they tolerated him without reacting. I really wonder about people's taste. I only read it because the reviews were great. If there is one thing that maybe was bearable was the first 40 pages.
A great friend to lovers romance. A slow burn and worth the wait. I enjoyed seeing how Murphy and Olivia came together supporting eachother through dealing with Stephen and all their new beginnings.
This book was entertaining for what it was but it was lacking in many areas. To start, the plot is tissue-paper-thin and there were several moments that were just not believable. The constant interruptions every time the two mc’s were about to confess their feelings was annoying and frustrating. The book becomes increasingly Polly Anna as it progresses and the scheming, self absorbed and idiotic ex-boyfriend troupe was laid on thick, making his character very inauthentic. There were also several continuity issues and general redundancies that I found distracting. I don’t regret reading it, parts of it were good, but I probably wouldn’t have read it had I known the quality of the substance.
A Book That Takes A Crush Between Two Best Friends To Happiness!
I love the stand alone books written by KC Luck. This one was no different. It was written well with some really good main characters and an annoying one. Kim Murphy has been in love with her best friend Olivia since the day they met. But Olivia has never shown anything other than being an extremely devoted friend. But now Olivia needs help. Murphy has always tried to protect Olivia and would do anything for her. Olivia needs Murphy to be her girlfriend on a birthday cruise for her father’s birthday. Having been a friend of the family since they were teens Murphy was a little concerned but knew she could do it. But it was the show for Stephen that needed to be done. Stephen was being very annoying since she told Stephen she wasn’t interested. But since her family loves Stephen who has become a partner in her father’s firm, he has been harassing her. So Olivia needs this relationship to be played up. But as Stephen starts to get out of control and the closeness with Murphy has Olivia having feelings, things start to take a strange turn. I loved the story.
I love KC Luck's books. I cannot remember one I didn't really like. This one, not so much. The story revolves around Murphy, a rising TV/movie star. I picture her as a Jamie Alexander type. She's nice, famous and gorgeous. Olivia, her best friend of many years is straight and is Murphy's love of her life. Then Olivia requires Murphy to be her pretend girlfriend over a weekend cruise so that her ex-boyfriend finally leaves her alone. This is totally adsurb to me. But since it's KC Luck, I keep reading. Olivia is weak and is not assertive enough with Stephen. It doesn't help that her father is very much rooting for Stephen. The dialogue sometimes is weak, I was constantly frustrated with Olivia. I'm not a fan of men in the middle. Conclusion: I read it thru, not my favorite KC Luck story, looking forward to her next.
One of my favorite tropes is the fake girlfriend to fool the family. But this one also is about tossing your ex-boyfriend who is a total horse's rear end who thinks he has a chance to get back together. Good luck with that, ha ha. Olivia and Murphy have been besties for a long time. Olivia wants Murphy to go to a resort to celebrate her dad's birthday and needs a pretend girlfriend to keep Stephen, her arrogant, egotistical ex at bay. Murphy has had a crush on Olivia for years. This was an entertaining story and took me out of the doldrums for a few hours that I've had for the past few days. Characters were fun, and I liked it when an a**hole gets their just desserts. The writing is spot on and the pacing was good. And all's well that ends well.
The story had its moments. Typical long, slowish burn, fake lovers trope.
I usually like to say the things I don't like about a story. The first one is the character of Stephen. I don't mind a character like this as long as they get their comeuppance in the end, but he essentially got away with it.
The other issue I had was the fact that Olivia could have very well told her parents why she broke up with Stephen in the first place. She should've told them right away. But, I guess if that happened the story would've never been written. I guess I just always think of things like that.
This was an enjoyable friends to lovers romance between Kim Murphy, action TV star, and Olivia Reid. Their chemistry on the cruise to Bermuda and their time on the island was sizzling. Based on the story synopsis, Olivia’s ex-boyfriend, Stephen, was going to be an obstacle toward any romantic relationship that Murphy and Olivia tried to build. However, Stephen seemed to dominate the latter part of the story. The guy just could not accept “no” for an answer that Olivia was not interested in him. This was a negative for me. 4 stars
This is my first book from KC and I enjoyed this story of best friends Murphy, an up and coming tv star and Olivia. She's the daughter of a wealthy finance man who seems to have his eye on Stephen, his protege, to marry his daughter.
KC is a wonderful writer, but I personally found Olivia to be a very weak character when it came to Stephen. He was just too manipulative for my liking. However, with lots and lots of friendship and chemistry, I just loved Murphy and Olivia together. They were truly meant to be!
What do you do when your best friend, the person you've been in love with forever, ask you to fake date? That's the dilemma Murphy faces when Olivia needs her as a cover to stave off an persistent ex. This friends to lovers story has just what you'd expect if I'm this author.... characters you want to cheer for, a bit of drama and a HEA. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good friends to lovers story.
Super book! KC LUCK is an excellent writer and I always look forward to her releases. I’m never disappointed. I loved the slow burn of these best friends who find themselves secretly desiring to have a more intimate relationship. Stephen was smarmy, and nasty in his obsession over Olivia. It was an outstanding effort for conflict. READ this book, I promise you, you’ll rate it high.
This was a lovely book. It wasn't full of surprises but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The author's style of going between the 2 characters worked seamlessly. It's not a style I usually like as I feel like I want to stay with one character but I loved the way it was done in this book.
A new author for me and I'm happy to say one that I will look for again.
Wonderful story line, fake relationship with a bit of a twist. Throughly enjoyed the characters, almost wishing I could insert myself into the story to meet them.
