I've ruled the Ironblood Clan for lifetimes. Commanded armies. Destroyed enemies. Built an empire. But my throne remained empty. My bed cold. My soul incomplete.
Then Amy appears on Nuiatoa's shores.
Curvy. Defiant. Mine.
The prophecy promised me a queen. The magic delivered perfection. She has three days to choose—stay with me or return to her world forever.
I should court her slowly. Give her time to adjust. But when she looks at me without fear? When she demands I show her what being claimed means?
Screw patience.
She thinks she's not worthy of a king. I'll worship every curve until she believes.

it was a little too old fashioned for me lol but this is a cute short read that's perfect for finishing up your reading goal or getting a headstart on your reading. there isn't really a serious plot but it's very lighthearted and fun.
Unreadable dreck. If ever a book epitomized telling and not showing, it’s this one.
There is no semblance of a plot that goes beyond what’s mentioned in the synopsis—and the synopsis/ blurb was a more entertaining read than the book itself.
Very impressive though that the author wrote a novel that was in first person and still managed to use a passive voice wherever possible for most actions described—that was a new horror I never could have imagined I’d experience.
Both of the main characters (oh sorry, did I say main characters? I meant the only characters) feel like lifeless cardboard cutouts. If they had been side characters I would have complained about the lack of detail and personal motivation—as main characters they are insufferably unthought-out.
None of the actions of either main character feel believable (although that isn’t surprising given that so little about them is knowable to the reader, so how could anyone conclude whether their behaviour is in line with a nonexistent personality?) I think ultimately none of how either character behaves lands for me because I cannot imagine real sapient creatures being so unbelievably dull—stilted in their dialogue and passionless in their actions.
If I still gave self-published or indie pubbef books one star reviews, one star would still be too generous. You’ll have to make do with this scathing review instead.
There is so much good self-published writing out there, especially in romance. This is the kind of book that brings both the fantasy romance genre in general and self-pubbed novels down in readers’ estimation. If you value your time I’d pick up just about anything else.
I’ll be honest – I tend to be a little cautious with books that are under 300-400 pages. I usually feel like there’s just not enough room to build a world, develop characters, or get into the plot (and let’s not forget the spice). If that’s what you’re after, this book might not be for you.
That said, I finished this book in about an hour! For its length, I think Camden Cross did a decent job of giving just enough world-building to make it feel complete. Some of the descriptions of the plants and surroundings were lovely, and I really appreciated that attention to detail.
If you’re someone who loves deep character development, an intricate plot, or a slow burn full of angst – this isn’t the book for you. But if you're looking for a quick, light read to help get you out of a reading slump, this could be a nice way to ease back into books. Just don’t expect something super meaty – you might finish wanting a little more.
Oh, and there’s some spice, which I think was kind of the point of the book? Maybe?
