Jake Matthews understands loss. In just one year, he lost his mother, his first love, his career and now his cousin and best friend. Desperate to find some sense of peace, Jake falls into an agreement that could destroy what's left of his floundering life.
A Transformed Woman...
Naomi Bennett spent the last year finding herself. Running away to Portugal was more than just a trip to find culture, but also an escape from the first man she ever gave her heart to. Now home, the last thing Naomi wants is to catch the eye of notorious playboy, Jake Matthews. But Naomi soon discovers that Jake is not the same person she once knew.
Drawn to his pain, Naomi gets swept up in a whirlwind of circumstances that will shake the very fabric of of her precisely planned future and cause her to question every idea she ever had on love.
When two paths collide, demons resurface and grace abounds, leaving everyone's lives forever changed.
Again a 4.5 read. Jake life is out of control. No job, drinking every night and having a new woman in his bed nightly. In comes Naomi. Jake offers a room for a favor to his cousin. There they start to spend time together and start to form a bond. As time goes on both start to fall in love. Can Jake passed demons catch up with him and destroy the relationship that Naomi and Jake have started. Can Jake give those passed demons to God and start anew? This series was fantastic. Each character in this story was past perfect and making mistakes after mistakes. When there is nothing left they start to listen to that small voice, the voice of Christ calling them to Him. The stories in the series was so beautiful to read. If you think that people lives are not like this, trust me God can call the weakest person to Him, and I should know, I was one of them. He took me from a mental hospital and gave me hope and salvation. These stories reminded me the hope that Christ offers. So if you looking for a wonderful books with wonderful testimony, you must read the Winsor series!
Splintered Oak as with the entire Winsor Series is filled with college students with broken hearts trying to repair them in so many wrong ways. The Winsor Series will not appeal to all readers because the content shows the extent of brokenness. While I was unsure as I read the first in the series, I quickly came to realize that while the novels are edgy they absolutely reveal the love of Christ and show what life is like for so many young people. It was wonderful to see Jake finally deal with the underlying hurt and come to Christ in Splintered Oak.
"Long gone was the girl who hid in the shadows. The poor girl in a rich school. The half Hispanic girl in the white neighborhood. The Christian surrounded by those who didn't believe in anything."
This is Jake and Naomi's story which also had a follow up of the other characters as well from the previous stories. The series just gets better and better. I am tickled to death to finally find a series that is so earth shattering and life changing to read.
"I was alone, battered, lost, and abandoned by everyone in my life, because I was never enough for them."
It has kept me on the edge of my seat and keeps you guessing on the outcome. I love it dearly and cannot wait for more from this author. I did not want to say much to spoil anything for you guys.
"The need to see her was like a burning coal in my chest. She had become my light in this ever present darkness."
This series is well worth the buy and read! I am promoting it on all my Blog pages as well!
"That was the moment it hit me. The Lord had been preparing me all this time. Little details I had missed, taken for granted, had all been done to get me to this exact point. The magnitude of His sovereignty hit me. Even while I resisted, and long before I surrendered, God was working in my life-guiding me, protecting me, and training me."
I liked this book, but it took a lot longer to read than normal. I think it would be a fantastic book for a non-christian young adult to read. I think my tastes have changed, so my rating may not be as high as it would have been, say, a year ago. I read a prior book about Issy, which I liked. This one is more about her cousin Jake and an ex-roommate, named Naomi. The ups and downs Jake faces while he battles his demons are very interesting. Meanwhile Naomi has an unshakable faith, that even though she seems to have feelings for Jake, she has boundaries and keeps them. Great story of Jake's conversion to faith and his support group of Christians praying for him and bring there for him.
What a journey Jake and Naomi had. I struggled right along with Jake as he came to know Jesus and with Naomi as she came to know her feelings for Jake, but knew that she couldn't pursue the feelings because he was not a Christian. If Jesus could reach the character of Jake, then He can reach anyone. This book kept me "turning pages" in order to see what was going to happen. I will look for more from this author.
Definitely my fav in the Windsor series. I was eager to see if the author could make Jake a lovable soul and she truly came through. Both his story of redemption and the love story with Naomi were just perfect. So happy I discovered Tammy Gray and am eager to make my way through all of her available books.
Once again, Tammy didn’t disappoint me. This book kept me in suspense. Bad guy finally finding himself and growing. So glad that we have an author like Tammy who makes it all so real and shares healing in relationships through God’s grace
A great way to end this series. Jake sure as hard to like in the other books in the series, but man you sure love him in the end. Naomi, a true sweetheart. Great job and will continue to read this author’s books
I have never written a review before, though I have wanted to on countless occasions. It's funny that the Winsor books are what I am actually writing about. Fictional Christian Romance. I've read a plethora of romance books, Christian and secular, and some of my favourite books have been these (Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series, Tessa Afshar's books, Fairytales and retellings, etc.). But something about this series has me wanting to talk about here.
I won't say they were my favourite books, or that they were amazingly written. Some parts I would even say that they were so far fetched and unrealistic, but I mean, I read fairytales so... but they were well written and I was completely engrossed into the stories. (I read a book a day! Maybe a day and a half.)
I enjoyed these books a lot. I felt a sort of kinship to some of the characters. Maybe not to the extent of what they went through. I was never as "bad" as they, but I can say I get it. I grew up in a Christian home, my brother is a pastor. But I had my fair share of struggles and temptations and so could relate to a lot of what these characters went through, struggled through. Fought. And I know of Gods intervening. So I appreciated the stories a great deal. I loved the reminders that God can work through ANY situation and change ANY lives He wants to. No matter how hard someone fights against Him, no matter how "far gone" someone believes themselves to be. It brought such great emotions to me and truly touched my heart because I was reminded of how big and great and powerful God is.
I know some people didn't like how much drinking there was or the sexual context (which was not graphic) but I think it made it more realistic in the world and showed just how God can work in anything and everything.
I won't say who I related to more, and you cannot know by my ratings lol! But following will be my star ratings for each book. (I will be copying and pasting this to each book.)
Tammy Gray, I love your books. These Winsor series books are really good. I like the chemistry in your characters and the way that your characters change themselves. We can't force others to change and I like how that's an underlying theme in each of your books. There are a lot of editing problems in this series. This book is no exception. A lot of words missed and a lot of issues at the end of this book with past and present tense shifts when in the same sentence. That's why I gave this book 4 stars instead of five.
Content: This book does have drinking, drugs, and sex. But not descriptive. The focus here is on the character being rock bottom and then changing their life. Language: I felt like the language was clean. Religion: Very much a Christian book. And as in all of Tammy Gray's books, more about personal change than preachyness. Preachy books bother me. I don't find that here. Overall content: Loved the story. I've read these books from one to three. I'd recommend reading them in order because then you know the characters and history. I'm not a big series reader, but these books were different enough that I felt like I was getting a unique story each time.
A generous 3 star. Not sure what audience would enjoy this book. For the typical reader that likes Christian fiction I feel there is too much promiscuity with the MC trying to get every woman in his bed. For the secular reader there is a good amount of evangelizing and talk of faith. For that I gave it the extra star as that fits in my wheelhouse of books I enjoy. I could not see the attraction the female MC had for Jake, other than he was extremely good looking. He had no characteristics her Christian values would be attracted to. Actually every character in this series is described as gorgeous/beautiful. Blah. I suppose my favorite thing about this book would be the message that no one is outside the grace of God and all can find forgiveness and salvation in Him. I found it very difficult to finish this book.
That was the moment it hit me. The Lord had been preparing me all this time. Little details I had missed, taken for granted, had all been done to get me to this exact point. The magnitude of His sovereignty hit me. Even while I resisted, and long before I surrendered, God was working in my life—guiding me, protecting me, and training me. I was His, the Father who never gave up on me or abandoned me. The One who had been walking with me all along, just waiting for me to reach out and grab ahold of Him. Well, I was holding on now, and I knew I would never let Him go.
Thank you Tammy L Gray, this was beautiful 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

The entire three book series has been incredible! I cried more than once in every book. Such intense emotion in all of these characters. The realism is amazing. You’ll still get a beautiful happy ending, but on the way there, there are bumps in the road that really had me sitting on the edge of my seat, feeling a big lump in my throat as tears came. The only reason I can’t give this book five stars is because there are some editing mistakes that should’ve been caught and fixed. I’m kind of a stickler for that kind of thing, but I chose to overlook it because the story is so good. You won’t be disappointed.
Jake is a guy who has had a hard bits in life that he let his angry get in the way of the most important things . This book has a Christian guide to it so it has a God feel to it. Naomi will have to find a place to live for a while and when she ends up with Jake place for a while she finds outs that Jake is just not a part guy at heart . Jake will have a time to find that Christian is there for help and to get rid of his angry . This saris was a great read for adults and teens .
I chose this rating because I don't typically enjoy reading romance books, but did these. In fact, I loved the series. I look forward to reading the next book that was the spin off of the series. This is a new author to me, and I look forward to reading more of her books.
I've read all three books in this series and love them! The stories are intense but not overly so. The author's style of writing is easy to follow and understand. Also, thanks to her proofreader, there are grammatical errors! Looking forward to reading more of her books!!
This is the 3rd and final book I read in this series. I love this author and her unique way of helping your see and understand each character. Nice to read a great story sharing how we all fail however we can be redeemed and grow deeper in Chris’s love. I am now off to read another one of her books.
I didn't read this book. I don't know why Goodreads says I did or has it on my list. It wouldn't let me take it off my list unless I said I was finished. I have no intention of reading this book and I hope Goodreads improves its options in the future so that I don't have to say I read books I didn't just to get them off of my list.
This series was. I dont usually like Christian faith based romance, however this was as good if not better than a non faith romance. I recommend this series to ALL romance lovers!!
So glad to have Jake’s story and also to tie up loose ends like Robbie. It’s great to see how powerful the peace of God is, even if this was more miraculous than most stories.
I love how you seem to capture our deepest sorrow, insecurities, and brokenness. Only to show we all have them and God is greater than our brokenness. That true love is unconditional, that is the love God shows us everyday if we are willing to except it. Thank you
Honest and inspiring. Rawness, beautiful, godly, insightful. This book had it all. Relationships are hard enough in good situations but put brokenness in the mix makes it impossible. But God is into making the impossible.. possible.
I love this trilogy, great love story with believable characters. Highly recommended. Christian fiction at its best. If you enjoy Francine rivers you will love this author.
This was a great book to read. It was third in the series and was full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, drama, laughter and sadness. It kept you in suspense till the end. A terrific third book.
