Amber Eggert is an Indiana-based author of New Adult/Adult Fantasy Romance novels. She discovered her passion for writing in 2023 after being laid off from her corporate job. During this challenging period, depression pushed her towards finding solace and escape from reality in creating a fantasy world, which marked the beginning of her writing journey. Married to her very supportive husband for seven years, they share a home with their lovable and needy Staffordshire Terrier they rescued from the shelter, Quill. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her nieces and nephews, indulging in a good book, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and savoring every moment with a cup of coffee in hand.
Living your life in poverty and still being happy and feeling loved by your grandmother after losing your mother and never knowing your father could leave you in the end with a chip on your shoulder, but not Rosanhi. She has a job serving the king and Amber finds a way of making her dedication to serving the king (even when you have a “knight” in shining armor willing to do your bidding and protect you) desirable.
I love a good fantasy book where there are maps and pronunciation of the names of cities and characters because it enables you to become fully immersed in the story and world. I absolutely ADORED that Amber built the world enough to where you felt transported, but not so long that you had to follow the map to find your way to the next scene.
I loved the tenacity that Rosanhi showed in her independence of fighting her fight on her own and not allow Theo to protect her. Nothing better than a badass FMC!
I wish I could reread this book again for the first time. You will want to read this and WHEN you do, let me know what you think!
You get magic, elf’s, humans, dragons and a wolf whom you’ll love and witches. You truly get it all in this fantasy book!
Rose is strong, fearless and resilient never going to give up! She’s passionate and fights for what she believes in and who she loves! Rose embarks on a whole new journey that she didn’t see coming for herself and she takes this journey by the horns and owns it! There is a lot of depth to Rose as well. This book came with a lot of back story for the characters!
Amber Eggert has just been catapulted to my list of favorite authors. Her debut novel, Embers to Flames is a romantasy powerhouse.
30 years ago, elves invaded the human realms and now reign supreme. Our story, follows a human girl, Roshani, a servant in an Elf Lord’s household. It is there where her path to destiny begins. When she is tapped to travel for an ancient elven rite, she has no idea what she will learn about herself.
This book has everything you could want. Magic, Witches, dragons, shifters and an adorably fierce wolf companion. The cast of characters are fiery and formidable. The character development is excellently, done - from their backstories to their struggles. I was invested in every character - whether I was rooting for them or wanting Amber to unalive them immediately.
Let’s talk tropes. One bed? Check. Fated mates? Got it. Hidden powers and chosen one? You betcha. Don’t forget found family!
Oh and the spice!! The spice is chefs kiss!
But to sum it up - With its rich themes of resilience and love, Embers to Flames is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a story filled with magic, passion, and the strength to confront the shadows within and without. A stunning five-star read!
I have come to realize I have yet to find middle ground for when it comes to fantasy books. They’re either way too long or in this case way too fast when it comes to the story. This was a decent read but it was definitely rushed. And with all series books that I undertake this won’t be one I continue but it was still decent enough to warrant a listen
The storyline was awesome! Very creative. I do wish the romance had more angst and tension before the declarations of love and longing. It felt like it lacked a little banter and character building between Rose and Theo. Although, it was a good story and the cliffhanger definitely makes me want book two when it comes out!
I thought a while to figure out what my review would look like. I’m supposed to be getting the arc in April for the second book and I’m hoping it turns out better . The only reason I didn’t give it 1 star is because 1 star for me is a DNF. I did not DNF this book I stuck through. I believe this book was so rushed including the romance and the plot itself , the writing and grammar was not the best. The book and the ideas and plot being so rushed made it lack danger and me being actually in the story. It was also very predictable . I’m planning to read the 2nd book. This book could’ve had alot of potential but it was not for me, nothing against the author! So I’m hoping I have a different opinion of the 2nd book
Beautifully written. I honestly could not put it down. It was a smooth read. All of the characters were well thought out and meshed together nicely. Rosanhi is such a bad ass even though she has been put through a lot. The love story between Theodas and Rosanhi is tasteful and so sweet. Theodas's mouth is FILTHY. I loved it. I can't wait until the next book. The cliffhanger was not nice. However, I understand why Amber did it. I need Ruvyn to BURN!

This book follows Rosanhi as she goes about her life with her husband Mikyl, until one day guards show up arresting her husband of murder right after a fight where he got physical with her. Once he's taken away rose's world is thrown into chaos. She finds out she is part Elf and part Witch and there's a prophecy about her and her future child. She's got a fated mate that can shift and a brother trying to destroy the world.
Absolutely enjoyed this book and all the twists it had.
This book was an amazing adventure! It compiles all the things needed for the perfect Romantasy! Love, magic, spice, great plot! I enjoyed this story so much! I felt many emotions while reading this story but fell in love with the characters! The MFC was my favorite in the was she was strong and vibrant and just totally a badass! This adventure is one I hope to continue! So excited for more of this story! I could not tell this was a debut novel! The story is so good! Check it out!
I'm obsessed with the fated destinara connection between Theo and Rosanhi! The way she moves on from her past and finds her perfect match in this gorgeous winged elf/dragon hybrid is everything. He treats her like royalty, and their chemistry is undeniable. This book has it all - spice, love, fear, and action!
The author has extremely beautiful, vivid descriptions for everything and it makes you feel like you’re there!
Prince Ruvyn and Mikyl are up to no good and I can’t wait for the next book! Also…will there be a wedding?? A baby??

What an adventure. I was certainly sucked right into this one and finished within 48 hours. Amber has jumped right into the Romantasy scene and she is here to stay! Can't wait to see what she writes next!!
A cross between ACOTAR and Fourth Wing with a twist! Found love, found family, hard truths, true friendships, foreseeable war and a lot of adventure!! Oh and a little spice!! Great world and character building! Looking forward to book 2!!
I am not one to usually read a fantasy type book, but decided to give this a try. Once I started, I couldn’t put the book down! The plot sucked me in and had my attention through the entire story! The attention to detail and descriptive wording made me feel like I was there in the moment! And that epilogue! 😱
I can’t wait to see where this story goes in the future and look forward to more books from this author!
I was so nervous to pick this book up and read it this is my first fantasy book, I was afraid I would not connect with the characters but I was wrong this book was so beautiful. I didn’t expect smut but there was definitely smut. Sunday night when I started this I was highlighting like crazy so afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up, then towards the end I just highlighted some of my favorite quotes. There is so many I cried in a fantasy book is that a thing I don’t know in new to this! Thank you so much Amber for the opportunity to read your beautiful book, that I can tell by the way you wrote, the gorgeous cover, the characters, that you put your heart and souls in this book
“Overcome with emotion, I stand on my tiptoes, throwing my arms around his neck and kiss him deeply. In this moment, I know that whatever trials await us, we will face them together. Theo is my rock, my light in the darkness. With him by my side, I do have the strength to ascend to the throne and lead our people through the coming war. All our people. Human”

Y’all Ember to Flames is a fascinating story about a normal girl who finds herself never thought I could compare my self to a character so much the push the pull of emotions that one can relate with it was a real challenge this book is entangled in mystery and magic. Come to find out there is more than meets the eye. This story has true love elves, dragons, witches, and plenty of spice. Lords hidden identity and mystery i Can't wait to see what happens next. The cliffhanger ending and The epilogue I could completely scream I didn’t want to put this book down I completely ignored everything being sucked in by this book and it was 100% worth it. I loved how drawn in with excitement and felt like I was right there within Rose and Theo In There world. I truly felt like I was there in every moment! Wink wink 😉 Love, smut, fantasy, it was all there and sucked me in from the first chapter! Overall the book is definitely a 10/10 for me and I look forward to more from Amber! PSA MRS AMBER the suspense is gonna kill me The ending of this book has me *patiently* impatiently 🫣🫣🫣waiting for the second one! I can't wait to see where the story goes from here! From a very invested impatient fan lol 😂
I would give this a 2.5 if I could do half stars, but rounded up to a 3.
Disclosure: I was asked to be an ARC reader for book 2. I agreed before realizing that the ARC was book 2 in a series. I had to go and read book 1 before I could do book 2.
+++++++
Rose is a human woman, mostly raised my her granmother and having never known who her father was. She begins in a loveless marriage where her husband has become more and more erratic and abusive. Humans are an oppressed race after the elves moved in.
But then things happen and she finds out that she is not who she thought she was. She finds herself embroiled in elven high politics, magic and a fate she never expected.
+++++
Overall the story was enjoyable. Though I do admit it felt a little Mary Sue. I do admit that one of my least favorite tropes is "fated mate". I also spent a lot of time as the relationship between Rose and Theo grow asking "um... aren't you still officially married?"
I also did notice some times when the tense of the text would switch from present to past tense. It's a small thing but it did send me out of the story.
If I were not to be an ARC reader for the second book, I might have DNF'd this book. As I did find that I would have to fight myself to sit down and read,
Rcvd a copy from the author for giving my review voluntarily. What a wild ride. We meet Rosanhi, a married woman who has a wolf as a pet and is a servant for an elven lord. Things are not so good at home as Rosanhi's husband Mikyl has been distant as of late and she's worried he has taken auraroot. They were childhood sweethearts and the past few years have been difficult since the elves have come forth. While at work one day the Lord Ailwin let's her know that his nephew Theo will be arriving soon. What Rosanhi didn't know what how handsome this elf was and he has wings. When Rosanhi arrives home Mikyl is acting angry and has taken his frustration out on her but is quickly intervened by elven guards. Lord Ailwin tells his servants that they are going to see the King for the Fire Rites and all 3 women are coming with them. Theo doesnt hide the fact that he is infatuated with Rosanhi and she has developed feelings as well for the handsome elf. When they arrive at the kingdom the King takes an interest in her for some reason. I don't want to get into too much detail as it would be spoilers. Drama, hidden truths, and figuring out where you come from makes this a good book.
This book had me crying over an fictional wolf (never apologize for my death, if it should come while protecting you. For i will always put you before me😭) and melting my heart over the love between the main characters.
For every ACOTAR fan, you should read this book!! 😊 the pacing the plot and the characters were so wonderfully written.
“Do you know what love truly is, child?” I look at him blankly. Waiting for hum to continue. “Love is when someone’s presence feels like home, no matter where you are. You’ll know true love when their happiness is essential to your own and their sorrow, your sorrow. Love isn’t just a fleeting spark, but a steady flame that burns, warms and lights the way through lige’s darkest moments.”
“You are the essence of my very being, i vow to cherish you for eternity. With every beat of my heart, i pledge to stand as tour guardian and your warrior. I al yours in this life and every life to come. You are my enteral flame. I choose this love and this bond. I choose you, Rosanhi.”
The love a father gad for a daughter us something that surpasses all understanding. It is a profound and unbreakable connection.🤍🫶🏻
Another must read romantic fantasy! Embers to Flames is the captivating first installment in a duology, set in a realm where elves rule over humans. The world is teetering on the brink of collapse due to economic struggles and social issues. At the heart of the story is Rosanhi, a fearless and bold FMC, who loves her friends and family with ferocity. As she navigates her struggles in daily life, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, uncovering secrets about her past, including her true identity as the king's daughter. With a richly woven narrative that seamlessly balances romance and fantasy, this book promises an exhilarating ride. Featuring dragons, elves, witches, and even a wolf companion, the story is a masterful blend of action, suspense, drama, and romance, incorporating favorite tropes like found family, fated mates, and forbidden love. While the fated-mate relationship could have benefited from a more gradual build-up and more banter between the FMC and MMC, this is an amazing debut novel! It showcases immense promise. Leaving readers excited for the next book. This is definitely an author to watch out for in the future!

It took me a while to decide what I thought about this book. I was asked to read the second one as an ARC, so I knew I had to start at the beginning. The story is incredibly fast-paced, which, at times, works against character development. I missed the slow burn—the grief, the pain, the "will they, won't they" dynamic, and the banter between Rose and Theo. These were elements I was hoping for but felt were lacking.
That said, the world-building is imaginative, and I’m curious to see how everything will unfold in book two. If you're new to fantasy, this could be a great entry point. However, as someone familiar with the genre, I was craving more depth—more backstory, more build-up. The rapid pace sometimes hindered the development of tension, so the sense of danger felt a bit diluted.
All in all, I’d give it a solid 3. While it didn’t quite meet my expectations, I still enjoyed the story. For newcomers to fantasy, I think this book would be a fantastic start.
"Embers to Flames" by Amber Eggert is an enthralling read that earns every bit of its 5-star rating. The book captivates with its resilient protagonist whose journey is both inspiring and moving. Eggert’s writing style is vivid and evocative, allowing readers to feel the intensity of each emotion and scene.
The characters, especially the protagonist, are wonderfully developed, and their relationships add layers to the narrative. The storyline is filled with unexpected twists and tender moments, making it hard to put down. The themes of resilience, love, and identity are woven seamlessly throughout, offering both excitement and introspection.
In essence, "Embers to Flames" is a beautifully crafted novel that lingers with you. Its engaging plot and emotional depth make it a must-read for anyone who loves a captivating and thought-provoking story.
I fell in love with the main character, Rosahni, a human girl with spirit despite not having the greatest time in her life. She's a strong character that wants to do the right thing with those around her, even if they don't treat her with the same level of respect or love. Her connection with Theo (a dragon shape shifting elf!) is instantaneous and sparks fly. (as a romance reader, I would have expected more angst-but I remind myself that this is a fantasy novel). Prince Ruvyn, her half-brother, is a piece of work and I fear for the main character and what he will do to her in the coming novels. I expected a bit more tension between Rosahni and other elves, even after her birth revelation, but perhaps that is to come in the next book. The book does get spicy 🔥🔥 There are some great lines in the book.
Overall, a good read.

Tropes: One bed Fated mates Hidden powers chosen one Found family
A good read for anyone who enjoys a story filled with magic, passion, and the resilience to confront the shadows both within and without.
Incredibly fast-paced, I blinked and the here’s the relationship, another blink and the plot twist. With the story moving along so quickly it was difficult to immerse myself in the sense of danger the plot calls for. It leaves me wanting more backstory, more buildup and a little more intensity.
That said, I absolutely LOVE Rosanhi, and her tenacity. The world building is imaginative and easy to comprehend. That cliffhanger…. the suspense is going to kill me!
For newcomers to fantasy, I think this book would be a fantastic start. Or if you enjoy a slightly more relaxed fantasy adventure this book is great.
This book pulled me straight into a world where elves hold all the power and humanity is barely hanging on, poisoned by a dangerous drug and buried under secrets. At the center of it all is Rosanhi — a human girl caught in an ancient prophecy that slowly reveals who she really is and the role she’s meant to play.
Rosanhi is such a strong and empowering FMC. Watching her adapt, survive, and push forward when everything is stacked against her made her easy to root for. And Ehron… instantly my favorite. He brings so much heart and balance to a story that gets dark and intense in the best way.
The writing has a calm, immersive feel that made it easy to sink into the world, even during the action-heavy moments. The world building is amazing and very detailed. This book felt elegant and really pulls you to keep turning the pages. Hands down one of my top 5 fantasy reads of 2024.
I will say I went in blind because I didn’t really look to see what it was about after the words, dragon and fated mates, came across my tik tok screen haha.
I jumped at the chance to read it and was not disappointed! Its got the magic, a power system in a way and that simple human who wants more in her life and for those she cares about. Little does she know…her whole world is about to turn upside down!
The only thing i was worried about was that i usually read enemies to lovers and in this one the two characters just click. The author made it work though. I finished it too quickly and I'm now ready for the next book in the series!!
Oooo did I mention the spice….???? No??? Well theres a good bit 😜

Our FMC Rose is 23 and is in for quite the adventure. Her life is simple, she a servant, she has her grandmother and her dog, however her marriage is in shambles. Hello, Theo! Our MMC is an elf, he can fly and takes a liking to her (big no-no humans and elves) and wants to show her his world and all its pleasures. It seems to be smooth sailing till the Fire Rite!
Afterwards it’s quest, trials, and proving her worthiness, loss, joy with many twist and turns. It’s a wild ride with mini cliffhangers at the end of each chapter! The characters you started hating, you hate even stronger and the ones you started to love, you love the even deeper!
I would’ve loved for the challenges/quests to be a little longer with a bit more risk!
The ending of this book has me *patiently* waiting for the second one! I can't wait to see where the story goes from here! This was an amazing debut novel from Amber Eggert.
The fantasy aspect was amazing with all of the things you need in a good fantasy book from fated mates, to magic, to a dreamy, winged MMC. I also really enjoyed the pace of this book, as it was fast past and it got to the point of the story rather than dragging things out excessively like some fantasy books I've read.
As for the romance, I loved the instant connection between the characters. They were so sweet and gave me all the good emotions I want from a romance novel.
Thank you for an amazing read! I can't read to read the next book!
This book is enthralling and has so many of my favorite fantasy aspects in it! One thing I absolutely loved was that 1. I love a fantasy book with a map, and 2. Amber put pronunciations of character names and places in the beginning so you didn’t have to guess how to say them! I loved watching Rosahni grow in the book as a character. She went from this timid human to a badass elf and eventually at the end a soon to be queen! She did anything and everything she could for the people she loved! Her bond with Theo was unmatched. I loved watching their story unfold! This book brought me to tears, had me laughing, and the end had me wanting more! I can’t wait for the next book! 10/10 recommend!!

You are swept into a world where Elves hold supreme power, and humanity teeters on the edge, plagued by a sinister drug. At the heart of the story is Rosanhi, a resilient human girl drawn into an ancient prophecy that reveals her hidden lineage and a love destined to ignite hope.
Rosanhi is a truly empowering character. Her adaptability and strength in the face of overwhelming odds makes her an inspiring heroine. Ehron, an enigmatic elf who quickly became my favorite character, adds depth and warmth, balancing the novel’s darker themes.
The author’s elegant prose brings a calm and immersive quality to this action-filled tale. Embers to Flames beautifully explores themes of resilience, family, and destiny. I can't wait for book 2 to be released.
When I tell you, I literally gave up my sleep for 90% of this book!! I was up reading until 4am, and I had to wake up at 8am! And it was so worth it. I devoured this book in about 48 hours ish, and that's only because I have a 1 year old and don't get a lot of time to read unless I'm up super late at night.
This book had it all, elves, a wolf, main character growth, fantasy, spice, romance and an epic adventure!
I had all the feels for the main character, I absolutely loved that she managed to find love after being in a loveless/careless marriage. I loved that she found herself and became so much more than she ever thought she could.
Go read it! 🤩🤩
