She’s not expecting love. He’s not planning to stay.

Willa Dash’s sheltered life is perfectly wonderful, thank you very much. She loves cooking at her family’s diner and enjoying everything her tiny beach side town has to offer—despite her mother insisting her talents would be better showcased at a Michelin-starred restaurant far away from home.

Big city cop Reid MacKinnon decamps to Lucky after his undercover sting goes bust. His plan is help his police chief uncle by patrolling the town, and lay low while the D.A. builds a case against the bad guys back home.

All his plans go up in flames when he comes face to face with adorably klutzy Willa, who stammers and tries to hide from him every time they meet. Considering he’s her new neighbor, that’s…a lot. It’s not long before making her blush is his new favorite pastime, and this small town? It’s beginning to feel a lot like home. Now he needs to convince Willa to give their relationship a real chance—and not be taken out by the hitman sent to finish him.

Huge thanks to Valerie Pepper and The Author Agency for the advanced copy! When I saw Valerie's post about this one, I knew it was a must-read. Below is my honest review!

When Miami police officer Reid MacKinnon accepts a temporary position in small-town Lucky, Alabama, he has one clear goal: lay low until he’s needed as a key witness in a high-stakes case back in the city. But life has a funny way of changing plans. Enter Willa Dash, a local cook whose love for Lucky runs as deep as her passion for creating incredible food. While the townspeople believe Willa is destined for something bigger, she's perfectly content with her small-town life. As Reid and Willa grow closer—co-parenting an adorable kitten and sharing more than a few banter-filled meals—their initial sparks turn into feelings that challenge everything they thought they wanted. But the dangers of Reid’s Miami case aren’t far behind, putting more than just their budding romance at risk.

This was my first book by Valerie Pepper, and it won’t be my last! Dining for Love has everything I adore in a small-town romance: a charming local hangout, nosy but well-meaning townsfolk, fairs, festivals, and plenty of small-town hijinks. The tension between Reid’s temporary stay and Willa’s deep-rooted love for Lucky adds layers to their relationship, while Reid’s dangerous past keeps the stakes high. Watching Reid and Willa challenge each other—Reid finding new meaning in a quiet life and Willa growing in confidence—is immensely satisfying. Plus, there’s a Ferris wheel kiss, an irresistibly precocious kitten, and countless mouth-watering moments as food becomes their language of love.

This is the first book in the Lucky in Love duology, and I’m already excited for the next installment. I can’t wait to revisit Lucky, Alabama, and all its delightful residents!

I can always count on Valerie Pepper to write an amazing romcom! Her books are so cozy and they feel like home. Anyone who knows me, knows she’s an absolute angel human and was my first auto buy author!

This book was no different than any of her others, it has all the love, compassion, spice and hometown feel! (Price is my fave, iykyk)

It has banter and back-and-forth without too much angst. The world building was great and the characters were so well developed, and I loved both of them. Willa is a bit of the grump in this book and Reid is the easy (ish) going, always smiling, ray of sunshine! I like how these roles were reversed. Often times it’s the other way around so that was fun! I loved all the relationships with the people around them in this small town. Willa’s sister specifically, and her mom and dad, as well as Ox!

I could picture this town and the diner specifically as well as the homes they were living in. This book had a little bit of suspense, which I absolutely adored. It was such a fun added touch and it wasn’t too suspenseful, thriller like, or anything, but it was just enough suspense that it added a little extra excitement!

I always dread finishing Valerie’s books because I don’t want them to end. This might sound silly, but I try to remember how I feel because I’m never gonna be able to read these books for the first time again and I always try to remember in my head how I feel in the moment because I just love her books so much. All the emotion, the giggles, happiness, the laughter, the wtfs, all of it.

Also, A Cinderella Story is my favorite movie of all time and it reminds me of that! 🤍

Thank you so much to Valerie and her team for this arc. All thoughts are my own as they are with all arcs!

DNF at 20%, and I think I gave Dining for Love a fair shot, but wow, this was not my kind of read. The FMC practically collapses any time she's near the MMC, who, sure, is described as "hot"—but does every interaction need to include her knees literally buckling? Like, give the girl some sturdy joints, please. If I have to read about one more weak-in-the-knees moment, I might need a knee brace myself.

And then there’s her sister’s name. GOLDIE. Not a cute nickname, not a pet name—this is her actual name. Just... why? I couldn’t get past the combination of over-the-top insta-lust reactions and character names that took me out of the story every time I read them. If you’re into FMCs who have the spine (and knees) to handle themselves around a hot guy, this might not be the one for you.

Another great book by Valerie!

This was a fun small town rom com that had a surprising amount of suspense.

I appreciated the growth that the main FMC had and I was happy to see her come more into her own and to start standing up for herself.

I loved the sweet little kitten Midnight and really enjoyed the co-parenting aspect!

You get:
• Chef FMC
• Cop MMC
• Small Town
• Suspense
• Spicy Contemporary Romance
• Kink Play
• Forced Proximity

I can't wait to read the next one! Available on ebook and paperback.

Dining for Love by Valerie Pepper is the first book in a delightful rom-com series that blends humor, romance, and suspense. The story follows Willa, a talented cook working at her family’s diner, who dreams of more but feels stuck in her small town. She’s shy and clumsy, especially around her handsome new neighbor, Reid, a cop laying low in town while working on an undercover assignment. Despite Willa’s self-doubt, Reid is captivated by her and loves teasing her, creating plenty of sweet and funny moments as he tries to win her over.

The book is a perfect mix of the "grumpy x sunshine" trope, with Willa as the grumpy, small-town girl and Reid as the easygoing, sunshine guy. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their interactions are both humorous and steamy. The suspense adds depth to the story, as Reid’s dangerous undercover work brings tension and excitement to the plot. The supporting characters, including Willa’s family and friends, contribute to the book’s heartwarming "found family" vibe.

Pepper’s pacing is spot-on, with a sweet build-up and spicy moments that will keep readers engaged. The villainous characters are well-developed, adding intrigue for future books in the series. Overall, Dining for Love is a charming, feel-good story with great world-building, humor, and heart.

“Dining for Love” by Valerie Pepper was an adorable romance featuring big city cop Reid MacKinnon and small town diner cook Willa Dean Dash.

I thought Reid and Willa’s story was super cute. It was lighthearted and hilarious, with the perfect amount of angst and just a hint of suspense.

Reid was confident and charming, and he was definitely the kind of man who likes to take charge. I loved how possessive and protective he was of Willa.

And Willa! A lot of people thought she was strange for not wanting to leave her hometown, but I actually really respected her for knowing what she wanted and sticking to it.

All in all, I think Valerie Pepper wrote a wonderful book, and I’m glad I gave her writing style a chance, and that “Dining for Love” will appeal to small town romance lovers.

This was such a fun read. The more I think about it and process it, the more I realize I can’t stop smiling and laughing over its contents.

If you’re looking for a cute little romcom (with enough secondhand embarrassment to last 5 life times) but with some absolutely delectable smut (why is this man and his mouth so fucking hot🥵) and also enough action to keep you intrigued and on your toes then look no further

I loved the small town feels and the sense of community surrounding said town, Willa learning to stand up for herself, and Midnight’s little guest appearance and adventure

I adore Reid and truly don’t think I’ll move on from my fine officer of the law. But I’m beyond excited for Goldie and let’s be real.. Matty’s story to come next🤭

Oh. My. Gah. Valerie Pepper does it again!!!! I absolutely LOVED this small town romcom because that’s exactly what it was - hilarious, sweet, SPICY. It was everything. Willa Dean thinks she wants to be big and bad, but she’s definitely the furthest from it. Enter Reid. Reid allowed Willa to open up and experience life for all the fun and joy it could be. He allowed her to be bold, make mistakes, be silly, and grow as a person. He made her feel special, loved, and cherished - all. the. time. And Midnight, the kitty? Oh, heck yeah. A full grown ass man baby wearing a kitty?? Valerie. DEAD. Loved every minute of this story. I cannot wait to read book 2 because I need moooore of Lucky, AL residents in my life!

PS. This one is spoooooicy. So good, so delectable, but definitely a top tier spicy. Just the right amount AND done so well - it’s perfection.

Thank you for sharing your talents, Valerie Pepper! Autobuy for the rest of time 🥰

Reid's only in this small town temporarily, until things quiet down back in the city on the career front. But while here, he meets this adorable diner cook and not only does he like flustering her, he's starting to like small town life. Does he like her, like small town life enough to stay forever, though?

Willa loves her small town life, and isn't comfortable with her mom, everyone actually, thinking she needs to go live a big city life. Then Reid comes to town and gets under her skin. She can't fall for him - she knows he's only here for awhile before heading back to Miami. His delicious mouth is addicting, but his heart is what she's really falling for, and she knows she's heading for her own heartbreak unless she and her town can convince Reid he belongs here.

Adorable klutz Willa is the perfect match for yummy big city cop Reid. I love that their snarky vibe that does absolutely nothing to disguise their smokin' hot chemistry and when they give in - DAMN! This cop isn't afraid of some kink, but he was afraid of getting roped into a love he wasn't looking for or expecting. Fortunately, his chef served up something he couldn't resist - her heart. This is the first of Valerie's writing that I've read, but after this, it definitely won't be the last.

I love Valerie Pepper, I loved this book, I loved the characters, and I needed this book at the time I picked it up to read! I needed a book that I could easily immerse myself in, without it being days of reading. I needed characters I instantly fell in love with and a location that had me lighting my beach scented candle. A romance between two people who were not looking, with just a hint of suspense, and an ending that had me giddy! I needed this book, period.

Willa is a shy cook who is content with her life. She lives in a small town, where nothing much ever happens. Her family has big dreams for her, but she enjoys small town living and has no desire to ever live in a big city. When a big city officer shows up at her diner, she doesn’t expect her world to turn upside down as they get to know each other. Maybe her life could use a bit more excitement…

Reid is a big city police officer, who is laying low as a key witness in a big case back home. He was only going to be in this small town for a short period of time. No desires to get to know the town or the people crossed his mind. But when he meets the small town cook, he discovers there is more to life than the next case. Slowing down and enjoying life brings moments of fulfillment he has never had before. When nothing but a phone call is keeping him from returning home, how can he make this work?

Valerie delivers another book full of romance, spice, main and side characters you instantly love and connect with, and a plot line that keeps you coming back for more. I devoured Will and Reid and thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow into more. Valerie reminds us that life happens when we least expect it, but to stay open to new experiences and people. A quick and easy romance, highly recommended!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁: This was a fun story with a hint of cozy suspense, I really enjoyed it. But be warned there is alot of food mentioned and you will get hungry. You may also want to adopt an adorable kitten at some point. If you like fun characters, opposites attract, fish out of water vibes, spice and a man in uniform this book is for you.

Willa loves her small town and after a failed attempt at leaving she knows this is her home. Working as a diner chef at her parent’s restaurant may not be everyone’s dream but it’s hers and she’s happy with that decision, if only the town could get behind that decision.

Reid just ended an undercover assignment and needs to lay low, so when his uncle offered for him to come help out in the small sleepy beach town he agreed. Being a small town cop is definitely a big shift but after being shot and the things that went down he needs simple. He didn’t count on finding a woman he was drawn to.

Willa and Reid’s paths cross when he complicates a simple food order at the diner. Willa was instantly drawn to him but feels he’s out of her league and doesn’t want to have a fling with someone who doesn’t plan to stay in town. But then her vet bestie and sister intervene and she finds herself being shipped to the new hot officer. Then Reid finds out that maybe he wasn’t laying a low as he thought and may have brought danger with him to this small town.

Check this one out to see what happens when city meets small town and the heat gets turned up.

Fantastic Small Town Romance and Reverse Grumpy/ Sunshine. It started off as sweet and funny but definitely ended on a high of suspense and action.
My first by Valerie and I was super impressed by her style of writing.
Reid has come to the small town from Miami to lay low for a few months and help his Uncle at the police force. Reid is amazing and a cinnamon roll until he gets in the bedroom and that man loves to control and say filthy things 🥵.
Willa was grumpy and sheltered. She was very talented chef that was happy in her small town, even if everyone around keeps pushing her to go to city and be a big time chef. She was hilarious though every time she meets Reid. She becomes clumsy and for some reason she squeaks a lot 🙈.
He was ready to chase her but she fought back as she thought guys like him don't look at women like her.
I loved the friends and family that all play a role in getting them together. Willa did start show more of her personality and Reid gave her strength to be more stronger.
When they finally give in to the whole chase, they were explosive and set the pages on fire. It. Was. Super. Hot!!
Unfortunately Reid is leaving in few months and they really shouldn't let their hearts get attached.
The Reid's past and the secret reason he is here finds him and his loved ones.
The suspense around who it is r when they will strike was written well and that twist too!!!!
Great story, entertaining, funny, cute, close knit community, friends, drama, action, suspense, love and hot spice.

Can't wait to read more from Valerie.

Dining For LOve is a great rom com and book 1 in the series.
I was thoroughly entertained through-out reading this story between Willa and Reid...Its funny, sweet and sexy.
Willa is a cook working in her parents diner, she is so talented with food she could easily be an award winning chef.
REID is a big city cop laying low in the small town of lucky,so while he bides his time he helps his uncle out by taking a temporary position to patrol the small beach town.
He is in hiding from the bad guys he is helping to put into prison.
Willa is so shy and clumsy especially whenever she bumps into her new neighbour Reid,he is the hottest guy she has ever seen and so turns into a fumbling mess when he is around.
Reid seems to catch onto this and loves making Willa blush and he often wonders if she would blush in his bed...He is totally attracted to her ,but Willa is in disbelief that a man like Reid would be interested in her.
I really like both characters and their inner thoughts and feeling are so funny,I found myself grin whilst reading it.
Reid is a surprise because I didn't expect him to be a dirty talking sex god.!! He sets his sights on Willa.
There is not just romance that is happening in this book there is some action and suspense as Reids job puts him in danger.
Valerie Pepper is a new author to me and I have to say I enjoyed reading her words and I will look forward to the next book in this series.
Loved it.

Everyone I need you to know that is BY FAR my favorite book that Valerie has written so far. And I absolutely ADORE PRICE JOSEPH and the Guided to Love series!!

I'm obsessed with Lucky, Alabama. I'm obsessed with Reid MacKinnon and Willa Dash. The small beach town vibes were immaculate. Reading this book literally had me sitting here giggling and kicking my feet while missing the small town life because Valerie writes the small town living so romantically. Of course after I think about it I just wish I could be in this specific small town because I am so in love with the characters and the town as a whole.

What about this book made me go absolutely feral you ask? Let me tell you. The setting, as we've already established, I adored. The main characters I clearly adored but the SIDE CHARACTERS also were so incredibly appealing to me. They have depth and character. The meddling older neighbor/landlady, the regulars at the diner, Willa's family,Willa's best friend, and I cannot forget Ox. There is an adorable kitten involved as a bonus! Clearly I also adored the romance between Reid and Willa, the comedic aspect that Valerie always includes, but in this novel there was an added element of suspense and if I am anything else besides a romance and fantasy girlie it is a suspense, thriller girlie. And I absolutely ate this all the way UP. Because Reid is a big city cop from Miami and he's in small town Alabama to lay low after an undercover operation went horribly wrong. But if there is anything that small towns are good at it is putting the newcomer right in the spot light. Willa just wants to cook at her family diner, thank you very much, and has no more desire to get the big city fame her family so craves for her. Small town girl, big city guy, we've seen this movie before haven't we? Yes and there's a reason it's a classic. Read this book if you love romcoms with a dash of suspense. I promise you will not regret it!

I am so thrilled that I was able to get an ARC of this novel and I'm so excited for Reid and Willa to meet the world. Thank you thank you thank you Valerie and The Author Agency for providing me with this copy.

bsolutely loved this small town romance!! Valerie has wowed me with another story of hers. This one encompassed a bit of a mystery to be resolved. I liked that added bit of suspense.

Our charactors were extremely well developed, and their personalities were well rounded.
Willa, our FMC, was a grouchy young woman just trying to live her life. Her family & friends keep trying to push her out of the small town life and encourage her to do BIGGER things. She doesn't want bigger & she doesn't was OUT either. She's such a fun little weirdo, too. She is shy and shows a bit of anxiety over social situations. So relatable.
Reid, our MMC, is the new guy in town trying to lay low to avoid a but of Miami drama. I love him because he is confident without being cocky, he's kind & supportive without being condescending, and he is so playful. The way that he approaches winding Willa up just to see her frustrated stare & flustered cheeks is so stinking adorable. He's not mean by any means. He's flirtatiously goofy. He's also extremely protective. He knows his past can come to haunt him, and he is trying to ensure it doesn't touch our Willa.

The rest of the town & their lack of boundaries are hilarious. I absolutely love the Tom & Jerry duo at the counter and the old lady landlord Abigail.

Midnight is super cute. We love a kitten co-star.

Honestly, this story was witty but also funny.
It was sweet but super sexy.
It was romantic but also suspenseful.
I loved every moment

First of all I want to thank Valerie Pepper and The Author Agency for providing me with an ARC of this book. I'm always so honored to be able to receive and read books for any author but especially smaller authors!

Holy COW! Valerie has done it again with an amazing romcom! I absolutely loved the banter between Willa and Reid. I was cracking up through the whole book highlighting so many silly things that were said or done. This book is fast paced and once I started it, I literally couldn't put it down. Everything about how awkward (and sheltered) Willa is, was just amazing. I feel like Valerie portrayed living in/growing up in a small town well.

This book is spicy! Like dang, the mouth on Officer Reid is filthy. It's a good thing I know how to keep a straight face while reading some of those scenes because I felt like my face could have gotten as read as Willa's. So, if you are looking for a book with spice, this is definitely it. It is very much open door so if that isn't your thing, then maybe skip over those chapters. I felt like the scenes were well written and didn't feel cringy to read.

I think my favorite part of this whole book was Midnight though. I mean who doesn't love a cute kitten in need that may or may not bring two people together.

Overall this book was so amazing. I can't wait to read the second book in this duology and visit the town of Lucky and all of their residents again. Highly recommend this book!

What a delightful read this was! A lighthearted, small town, Romcom from author Valerie Pepper.

This is the first book I’ve read of Valerie’s and won’t be the last.

Willa Dean, a small town chef meets Officer Reid McKinnon, a Miami police officer & sparks fly instantly. I enjoyed witnessing their relationship grow throughout the story & the banter between them.

The writing style of Pepper had me laughing throughout especially with references like “Hottie McDimples” and “Hottie McHotPants” 😂

All of the characters make this book so loveable & relatable. Tom & Jerry, two regulars of the Dash In Diner are likened to the “old guys in the theatre box on the Muppet Show”, Willa’s mum, dad and sister Goldie, are your typical small town family working together in the diner continuing the family tradition, then Officer Reid and his uncle “Chief Mac” policing the town and lovable Agatha, Willa and Reid’s landlord forever playing Cupid and let’s not forget the adorable rescue kitten, Midnight 🥹🥹

The spicy scenes are on point, without being too X-rated and it wouldn’t be a romcom without some sort of drama but I won’t spoil that one - but I will say, it’s an unexpected twist and the suspense as the events unfold are enjoyable but not without humour thrown in; “You stop there, you big meanie!” being an example 🤭

Thank you The Author Agency and Valerie Pepper for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

"I look up to meet his eyes, and I swear on a stack of blueberry pancakes, my knees literally weaken."

Stop it right now. Reid and Willa are the absolute CUTEST! I really loved this book. Everything about it was fun and sweet. The banter was fantastic. Willa was so adorably awkward and hilarious. I loved her vulnerability and watching her grow into herself and her confidence. I think most people can relate to being in a situation where your confidence is rocked and having to recover from that. I saw a lot of myself in her, and I loved that Willa got such a beautiful happy ending. And Reid? *swoons* Reid was something else. A good looking, charming, guitar-playing, man in uniform willing to chase Willa until she succumbed to his charms? I ate that up. He was far from perfect, but the swoon-level was off the charts. Valerie really knows how to write swoony men, and I am absolutely HERE for it.

Once he finally won Willa over, the sparks were off the charts. Every moment of them together was sexy and fun, and I loved it. Reid is very bossy and dominant in the bedroom, and Willa's reaction to it had me kicking and screaming. We even get a few "good girl" and "eyes on me" moments. 🥵😮‍💨

I loved this book, and I cannot wait for the next one! Thank you to Valerie Pepper for an advanced readers copy of this book!

OH! MY! GOD! VALERIE 😍😍😍🥵

Absolutely perfect and brilliant! These two had me gasping for air and smirking from page one! The banter, the pining, angst and chemistry 😮🔥 Holy wow! Thank you so much for the ARC ma'am! You are perfect!

Reid Mackinnon 😩 My MAN! This man can arrest me anyday 😏 and put me in cuffs 😏 iykyk.... *cough, cough* Tall, handsome, intelligent, a police officer, obsessed, protective, possesive, touch her and die, rich, and loves to drive his woman insane! He drove me and Willa insanely in love for sure 🤭❤️ The way he always pushed her to do her best! This man never stopped doing his best to make her happy and feel as safe as he did! He is a police officer from Miami who is in Lucky, Alabama for a short while 😏🤭 A short while? Right....

Willa Dean Dash 😍😍🫶 This woman is my spirit animal! Beautiful, intelligent, feisty, protective, possessive, a freak for her man, resilient, brave and confident. She is a chef at her family restaurant and it's where she meets Officer Reid 🤭 The way she always got flustered when Reid looked at her and flashed his dimples 😩 This man was doing it on purpose because he knew the effect they had on her! And I couldn't blame Willa for loving him as much as she did! 🥹🫶

The spice was out of this world 🥵 The kinkyness was perfect and everything I expected! The banter and chemistry was phenomenal! Willa and Reid are one of those couples who will always have a place in my heart and I'm so glad to have met them! 🥹🫶

"She’s not expecting love. He’s not planning to stay."

Dinning for love is book one in the lucky in love series and I loved reading every single minute of it. Once I started I knew I wasn't going to be able to put it down, I was hooked from the start. It was such a crazy ride. And I was here for it all. It's filled with compassion, love, spice, banter and loads more. The characters where amazing, the storyline was written wonderfully. I instantly fell for this couple. I can't wait to read the next book in the series highly recommended!!

Reid is in the small town temporarily, until things settle and he can go back, so he's keeping his head down and getting on with it. But the dinner girl has caught his eye, and plus he's really staring to like the small town, but will he stay?

Willa loves the small town but not the people and has been thinking about the city, that is until the handsome Reid comes in and she gets flustered, but shes him and can see that this will end with her heartbroken when he leaves. Will they get a hea ? Go grab and find out.

My favourite quotes ⬇️⬇️

"I told you, you'd pay for that, sweet willa, he growls. Did you not believe me? " I shake my head , I believed you. " Good, now find something to hold onto, because I'm going to make you scream." 🥵

" Have you ever been fucked wearing handcuffs? " No. " Do you want the cuffs off? " I want whatever you want. " Good answer, he praises, and for that you get your reward." 🥵

*Dining for Love* is the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, cozy, and fun, and I loved every minute of it. This story effortlessly pulls you in and makes it easy to get lost in its charm.

Willa, living in her small hometown of Lucky, is absolutely adorable. She’s content with her life working at her family’s diner, even as everyone around her encourages her to explore beyond the town’s limits. But Willa knows exactly where she belongs, and it’s clear that her love for her hometown is a big part of her appeal.

Enter Reid, a jaw-droppingly handsome cop from Miami, who’s come to Lucky to lie low and work for a while. Watching him adjust to small-town life is both amusing and heartwarming. Reid is completely out of his element, but the way he navigates the quirks of Lucky—and its people—had me smiling throughout.

The real magic of this story, though, is the undeniable chemistry between Willa and Reid. There’s an instant attraction, though Willa can’t quite believe that a man as gorgeous as Reid would be interested in her. Reid seems to love nothing more than making Willa blush, and he does it often. Their dynamic is flirty, playful, and oh-so-hot, especially with Reid’s dirty mouth and steamy bedroom charm.

Although Reid’s big-city cop problems loom in the background, this is a cozy suspense, so the drama fits perfectly into the laid-back vibe of the story. And of course, everything works out in the end.

The side characters are just as delightful—quirky, nosy, and full of humor, adding even more fun to the mix. Plus, there’s an adorable kitten that Willa and Reid end up co-parenting, which only adds to the charm of the story.

Overall, *Dining for Love* is the perfect romcom escape—a lighthearted, feel-good read with the right balance of humor, heat, and heart.

“For the rest of his life, I want this man thinking of my burger. It’ll serve him right.”

Willa Dash is perfectly content with her cozy, small-town life, whipping up comfort food at her family’s diner and soaking in every ocean breeze—despite her mother’s dreams of her cooking in a big-city, Michelin-starred kitchen. But when big-city cop Reid MacKinnon, hiding out in town after a failed undercover cop, shakes up her world. Forced to lay low in Lucky after his undercover operation implodes. He’s here to stay out of trouble and help his police chief uncle, but his plan takes a nosedive when he meets Willa, whose flustered attempts to avoid him only make her more irresistible. Soon, charming her becomes Reid’s favorite new mission, and this quirky little town starts feeling more like home. But as romance sparks, danger looms, and Reid will have to convince Willa that love is worth the risk—even when a hitman is still on his trail.

With chemistry that’s both sweet and spicy, and danger lurking just out of sight, this book is full of heart, humor, heat, and just enough tension to keep you hooked. Perfect for fans of opposites-attract and cozy, small-town charm and cozy suspense, with a romance that sizzles and stakes!

A big thanks to The Author Agency and Valerie Pepper for sending me a digital ARC of this book!

I am so glad I took a chance on reading author Valerie Pepper for the first time, because Dining For Love was adorable! A quirky diner waitress and an undercover detective from Miami hiding out in a small beach town.... I loved Reid and "Just Willa" so much!

From their first meet-cute to their vows of love and all the make-out sessions in between, this book was a gem! And it was so funny! Plus, there's a bit of suspense in the mix with the case gone awry that Reid was working on back in Miami. Both characters show a lot of growth by the end of the book as well. Willa has led a rather sheltered life. A traumatic incident at culinary school has made her clam up. But throughout her relationship with the hot cop passing through town, Willa really comes into her own and learns to stand up for herself. Reid, meanwhile, was kind of anti-relationship, and never envisioned himself settling down in a small town. What starts out as a situationship with an expiration date turns into so much more for these two!

I would really love to see whatever is going on with Willa's sister, Goldie, and best friend, Matt, explored in the next book!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I'm starting to get that when Valerie writes a book I'm surely going to read it!
In this one we have two complete opposites that just complement each other in so many ways!
I really liked Willa. She is a sweet and shy woman, that gets all flustered by a beautiful new man in town (Reid). So she does what anyone would do, right? She tries to hide and avoid him! After all there is no way a gourgeous man like him would be interested in simple small town Willa! But.. she was so wrong! He got attracted to her since the first time he saw her, and he loved to get her to blush.
Willa's character grew so much in this book. It was amazing to see all the development! Reid made her confident and leave her shell and apreciatte and even stand up for herself.
Reid was such a sweet but confidant man, that oozed power and at the same time such care. So when a now danger followed him and puts the people he cares about in danger he gets in protective mode.
But what happens if they love each other? How can they work if they are from two different worlds? She never wants to leave her small town, and he would never trade the big city rush.
I loved this book. The story, the characters, the jokes! I laughed ao much! Amazingly good!

Thanks to Valerie Pepper and The Author Agency for the advanced copy. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a fun, cozy and sweet story. A perfect romcom - lighthearted, feel-good read with humor and steam.

Willa is content, even if people push her to be more. She is where she belongs and you can feel her love for her hometown. I love how she is confident until she lays eyes on Reid.

Reid is a city cop from Miami and not used to the laid back small town life. Watching him adjust to small-town life is just amusing. But he navigates the quirks really well, even being hazed by the people 😁

I love the undeniable chemistry between Willa and Reid. He really does love to make Willa blush often. They are bantering playful and flirty and it is just *sigh* 🫠🫠🫠🫠
The side characters are a hoot. Quirky, nosy and just fun.

The drama fit perfectly into the story and made more than just a sugar sweet romcom. I loved the small town feel and the sense of community in it. And as a cat parent I love Midnight and the co-parenting aspect.

*Dining for Love* is the perfect romcom escape, with humor and steam
