Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala #2

The Vampire's Delicious Fae

Rate this book
If I never had to see that vampire again, it would be too soon. But then why do I like the way his eyes follow me whenever he’s around?

Anton is beyond frustrating. He was such a massive jerk the first time we met, even more so because I’d thought we had a connection. But then he had to ruin everything with his big mouth and jerky face. Ugh.

And I haven’t stopped thinking about him since. It’s driving me mad.

The Vampire’s Delicious Fae is Book 2 of the new MM urban fantasy series, Tales From Gauhala. It follows a new couple in each book with a guaranteed HEA. It takes place in the Brinnswick world in the far away country of Gauhala and brings a whole new cast of characters, so you don’t need to read the other series first. But don't worry, there will absolutely be some cameos along the way.

Michele Notaro

Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

I am loving this series and even though I've not read any of the Elwoood stories, I'm not finding myself getting lost with who's who in the extended family.

I was eagerly awaiting this story, though having been introduced to both the MCs in the kind of prequel book which was part of the Fortune Favors the Fae series.

Ker hasn't had it easy, he ended up adopting his four younger sisters after their mother's death when he was just 18. Things have been a struggle ever since except for one night when he met a guy.

And we don't get to find out what happened then between him and the ancient vampire Anton until quite some time into the book, but we do know that Ker's had a beef with him every time they've interacted in the previous books.

I will say there's a boatload of miscommunication trope in the narrative but I didn't mind it as much as I would fo in a contemporary romance.

Here you can see why Keryth's never let Anton get near enough to apologise or explain but I'm glad if didn't go on too long.

The main plotline of this instalment is focused on the reappearance of a group of deadly hunters determined to wipe out the vampire population.

There's a tie in with one of the villains of the previous book too and I found the whole thing to be completely absorbing and it captured my attention from the start.

I will say I think there needs to be a stronger clue that there's a bit of on page violence directed towards a minor and there are references to the death of loved ones in the past made clear in the Blurb.

That's the one thing I felt needed more of a warning as it comes rather out of left field pretty early on in the book.

Other than that though, this slow burn-y romance is a delight with a whole bunch of wonderful characters who you can't help cheering on.

#ARC kindly received from the author via GRR Reviews, I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was different from the rest of the series because the viramores were at odds with each other and had been for years! It was a nice change from the typical instalove that finding their viramore prompts, but then also there wasn't actually a lot of focus on the relationship between Ker and Anton during the whole book.

Once they finally get together, they have endless obstacles thrown at them, not to mention blending their two families! There's a kidnapping, tracking down a group of vampire hunters and traffickers, creating a fledgling, being parents, travelling back and forth from Gauhala to Brinnswick... There's so much going on at all times!

I did like the friendship between Ker and Oakley, and I also loved how Ailin and Seb have adopted Ker. There wasn't as much Ailin and Seb content as we got in previous books, but I think the series is kind of shifting away from Ailin taking the spotlight and saving the day all the time (booo, I love Ailin!!)

I'm curious to see how the relationship between Oakley and his dad's best friend plays out though! I'm also really looking forward to Jed getting a story, and as much as I hope he'll get paired with Kian (Zaos's brother) because I would love to see the chaos they cause together, I'm not sure that'll happen...

"𝙰𝚗𝚢𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚋𝚢 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚜𝚖𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚍 𝚑𝚒𝚖 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚑𝚎 𝚋𝚎𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚎.

Wow! A lot happened to these guys throughout the story! And talk about a giant misunderstanding!! I was glad to finally have the mystery of what happened between these two solved, though it didn't stop my frustration with Keryth for repeatedly dodging Anton over the years instead of hearing him out. Anton had the patience of a saint I tell ya. That being said, I do understand how Keryth came to the conclusion he did in the first place based on the optics of the event.

Not only did Anton and Keryth have to navigate their new relationship once their cards were finally on the table, but there were a lot of outside things coming at them as well plot wise. I really felt bad for them because it seemed like they could never catch a break. It was really sweet when they did finally get a moment to spend with just each other during all the chaos. And I do mean chaos. These two have a lot of kids.

Speaking of kids, I have to mention how much Jeb was a favorite during this read. He brought such levity to the story. Even though he was old as dirt he still acted like a teenager sometimes and I think that went a long way to making Keryth and his family feel more comfortable around Anton's family. I do hope based on the author's note that Jeb will be getting his own story eventually. Not only because I want to see such a fun-loving vampire happily mated, but also because I am dying to find out how his new, ah, pets behave in the future. Fingers crossed!

Book 2 in the series. Slow burn/ no smut, Well written fantasy book with Fae, vampires, werewolves, witches… I think the first book had dragons. Yes the king was a dragon. That was a great start to the series, go read it. Oh and Viramores. Which could be a play on Vero Amore (meaning “true love” in Italian)

This is the love story of Half-fae Keryth and ancient vampire Anton.

‘Anton wasn’t anything to me. He wasn’t mine. We weren’t dating. In fact, we never had. So then why did my chest feel like I’d been betrayed on a soul-deep level? Why did my heart want to combust in my chest? Why did my soul ache to be the one under Anton’s arm? And why in all the hells were my eyes tearing up? Fuck!’

I can’t tell what has gone on in their past history with each other, if there even is history. Keryth is jealous and thinks Anton has a boyfriend. He doesn’t.

There’s a vampire hunter cult on the loose.

Ahh we find out what happened two and a half years ago.

Anton write him a letter AFTER ALL THIS TIME to explain, and I guess Keryth isn’t as angry as he think’s because he reads it, cry’s and suddenly it’s all I miss you, I’m sorry. Anton just needed to write a freaking letter?? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Keryth is kidnapped .

‘Oh, Mother of All, I was inside a motherfuckin’ cage. A. Fucking. Cage.’

There’s other Fae caged. One is dead. It’s not looking good.

‘…made me regret taking so long to write that letter. I should’ve been more insistent. I should’ve apologized a thousand times over so he’d know I meant it. I should’ve tried harder. Not only since we found one another again, but that night, when he’d disappeared, I should’ve looked harder.’

Yeah I agree Anton. Sighhh

Anton and his friends rescue Keryth. Their magic joins or something and they save a boy from dying. Although he’s a vampire now and Anton and Keryth are now new fathers to him -a sire-fledgling bond was created to both.

‘And then I could feel it. The bond. Holy fuckin’ shit. Trayben was my fledgling. I, a fae, had a motherfuckin’ fledging.’

Aww it’s like one big supernatural Brady brunch family. 💕

Ooh something dramatic happens to one of the characters I’ve grown attached too. I don’t wanna cry 😭

Ooh Oakley and Roman for book number 3?

YES!! Next in the series, we have Oakley and Roman’s story, The Dragon’s Devoted Defender. It’ll be the last in this series, but not the last in this world.

Another action scene. Then another infiltrating a warehouse. Another main character on the brink of death.

‘That made me smile. “You’re such a sap.” He snorted at that. “You like it.” It was true. “I love you, Anton… my Antiochus.” “I love you too, my darling. Always.” “And forever.”’

This was very good. I'd been itching to see why Keryth had a thing against Anton and how they could fix it. The extra adventure was a wonderful extra
I really enjoyed it. I'm also very curious as to who will be the mystery vampire who'll get his viramore next

I adore Michele's books and this is another perfect example of her amazing world building, character development and fantastic relationships/family bonds that grow throughout the book and series.
Fans of this series will know that something has happened between Anton and Keryth but we don't know what. Now we find out how kind and compassionate Anton is to everyone and Keryth's determination and stubbornness when it comes to caring for and parenting his four sisters, something he has been doing since his mother passed away several years ago.
There are several events that happen throughout the course of this book that bring the two men closer together, but also both open up and are willing to discuss what happened and maybe move forward even before something happens. Hugely positive for us as readers, not so much in regards to timing to them. I found that in regards to their relationship, that part actually remained fairly low angst once they talked about things. I love a fated mates romance as you know how it's going to end up but the journey to get there is what makes it, and this one is a slow burn but with frantic and anxious energy from the outside world. It is what is happening around them that has them and their loved ones in danger.
We get a lot of time with Anton's children (fledglings) who are a great mix of personalities and abilities. I'm hoping they all get their own books at some point! There is also some time with Oakley, and Keryth's sisters who are amazing and resilient, considering what they have already lived through and the worries that happen here.
I cannot recommend this book, and the series, enough. You don't have to have read the others but The Witch's Grumpy Dragon would give you some background as to one of the baddies and how our MC's know the dragon king.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

“Legally, I’m Anton now, but Antiochus was the name I was given at birth.”
I nodded. “That’s what I thought. I could call you Anty. Or Chus. Or—”
“You could simply call me yours.”

Gosh, Anton and Keryth are too, too adorable! I loved meeting Anton’s family (and Jed needs a book, please), all the cameos, and getting to finally learn the backstory for Keryth and Anton. Also it wouldn’t be our beloved Michele if danger wasn’t lurking around the corner, and be warned, there were some breathless moments. Most of all though I adore that warm, fuzzy feeling I keep once the story is over because I feel like a part of the family.

so good

Omg this series just keeps getting better.

I will say a CW should be a part of this:

~There is graphic talk about older kids dying. There is also a fade to black scene that involves a side character who is a teen who is being horridly abused. And the near death of an older kid. ~

As for the book. This was a freaking amazing book if you love the emotional side of things. Gosh this couple once they got past their miss communication was absolutely sweet with each other. This is what I want to see with fated pairs. Actually being there when the world is crashing down around them. That whole part with Jed and what happened after was EVERYTHING!!! Broke me then put me back together in the best ways.
K may be Fae but don’t count him out and don’t mess with his kids.
The writing was amazing as always with this author, if you want a spicy driven fated story this isn’t it. They do have an amazing spicy time but this is more relationship driven than spicy driven. I can’t wait for the next book. Been wanting that story since the first book.

For future me:
Dual POV
No cheating/sharing
No OM/OW
not sure about the roles, but spice not much spice

**Audiobook Review**11/2025

Really enjoyed listening to audio version of this book. Anton and Keryth journey was bumpy at beginning but once truth came out it was all the way good. The audio took me back when I read it and I had all smiles...very good narrator and I would recommend who read the book, give the audio a try too:)

Just like the first book in this series, these enchanted characters pull on your heartstrings. With book 2, I was so ready to find out what the issue was with Anton and Keryth. I knew it was intense due to their interactions in book 1...FINALLY learning the truth I was like OMG...poor guys...so many misunderstandings BUT once things were cleared up...the romance finally begun and OMG...it was lovely. Things that kept me on edge was the constant danger surrounding the new formed family...so many close calls threatening took some of the fairy tale from the story but made it all realer...Definitely a slow burn with the angst that kept it a page turner...I'm so invested in the Brinnswick folk I can't wait til book 3...Very nice HEA. Absolutely LOVED the epilogue.

Zachary Zaba was brought on for the lastes audio of this series and does beautifully picking up where Micheal Lesley left us. He does brilliantly in showing the different characters and their personalities. You don't lose your place while listening but instead and brought deeper into the story.

Ugh have been wondering what was up with Ker and Anton since their interaction at the party, now it makes so much more sense! These two needed to have a real talk for so long but stubborness made both suffer longer than necessary yet when they allow each other in magical. Absolutely love how these two accept each other's kids and make them all feel welcome in this growing family. With danger on the horizon, they need to move the relationship faster than planned yet they take their time to grow their bond. Their slow burn to more made a sweet story more beautiful just feeling the bond grow with time and patience. Seeing Oakley and Roman up next makes my heart so happy, you can feel their spark with each interaction. Another beautiful addition to a great universe.

The Vampire's Delicious Fae is the second book in the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series. This book could be read as a standalone but in my opinion it is best read in order including the novella. This is the story of Keryth a half fae and Anton an elder vampire. Both main characters come to the story with extended family, Keryth is raising his sisters Alsira, Gemma, Saranor, and Zellya, and Anton has his fledglings Phaeron, Beshiro, Katja, Jedediah. There is so much going on that I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. I love that the plot wasn't focused mainly on the characters romance. I love the whole story and how they all came to be one big family. It was fun seeing other characters from the series. If get the audio narration, Zachary Zaba does a wonderful job of narrating this series. He makes the change in characters seamlessly. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

The Vampire's Delicious Fae is the second book in the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series. You can read the book as a standalone, but I feel it’s better if you’re familiar with the rest of the Brinnswick universe. That way you can understand the political climate, and also meet all other side characters.

Anton and Keryth’s story has been brewing for two books now, and their journey to finally making things right is really satisfying. They met two years ago, but a misunderstanding kept them apart, with Keryth holding a grudge and Anton never getting the chance to explain. Current events finally bring them back together and sparks fly once again, but their slow-burn romance makes that all the more rewarding. After all, they’re fated mates, and their connection is undeniable once they let themselves embrace it.

Both Anton and Keryth are great characters. Anton is an ancient vampire, but he is sweet and protective. And Keryth (who is a nature fae) is softer in some ways, but when it comes to protecting the people he loves, he’s just as fierce as any vampire. I loved their dynamic because it was sweet but intense and really fun to watch unfold.

One of the best things about this book (for me) is its focus on family. Anton and Keryth both have their own found/created families. Keryth has his four younger sisters and Anton has his four fledglings. And with the addition of a newer member (trying not to spoil anything), it was really interesting and fun to see these two groups come together. And their interactions (the jokes, the support, etc.) made all the relationships more realistic. I really loved all the children/fledglings, and how different but complementary their personalities were.

Aside from the romance and family bonds, there’s plenty of action and suspense in this book. A blast from the past comes in the form of a dangerous group of hunters who threaten the vampire community, forcing Anton and Keryth to step in/up to protect their families and friends. Which just adds even more "drama" to the whole story.

The Vampire’s Delicious Fae is a mix of slow burn romance, action, and strong found-family. It was a fun and engaging read, and I’m really hoping Jed and the rest of the vampires get their own HEAs.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my unbiased review.

New Review! The Vampire’s Delicious Fae (Brinnswick: Tales from Gauhala #2) by @michelenotaro.author

It only took 2 books to make me absolutely FERAL for Michele’s titles. I’ve even read the audios of the first two in the Gauhala tales and NNNNNNNNNNNNNGH I CAN’T! I thought Anton was hot when he was intro’d in book 1 but I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR HOW “DADDY” He is as head vampire and im SHOOKETH. I need the audio like TOMORROW. I need to make this book my personality.

As with Michele’s titles, there’s tons of amazing side characters, TONS of action, loads of hurt/comfort drama and LITERALLY EVERYONE HUGS EVERYONE. Michele’s books could single handedly cure touch-starvation since EVERYONE HUGS EVERYONE, romantically or platonically. Friends, lovers, family.., like that is a TRADEMARK of her books. Your character is going through some stuff? Don’t worry SOMEONE WILL HUG THEM. LIVE VICARIOUSLY through them and rejoice in all of the amazing hugging.

And tbh since the Michele titles I’ve read are very slow burn BUT the payoff is SO WORTH IT. they still have TONS oh huggles, cuddles and snuggles as intimacy. So by the time they do the Horizontal mambo you’re like SO satisfied.

Kk so TL: DR Keryth is a half-fae with plant magic who has been raising his 4 younger siblings, and we learnt in book 1 that he has HISTORY with his friend squad’s resident seggsy vampire. Except no one knows what the deal is.

Let’s just say their first meeting was a misunderstanding and even though BOTH realized they had a weird connection *cough* fated mates *cough* they’ve never figured out how to get back into each others lives.

Well, they finally do it and as two REALLY hot single dads, it makes for an adorable blended family. Keryth with his fae girls, and Anton with his grown vampire fledglings. Together they battle to make a house a home, two families one, and still find time to solidify their mate bond. Oh also they need to fight off a group of Vampire Hunters trying to take down their den. NBD, just another day is Gauhala

Honestly Anton is QUALITY book boyfriend material but Keryth is no wilting flower either. They are HOT and both crazy sweet together.

5 stars

We finally find out what happened between Keryth (beloved cousin of Bel the fae from book #1) and Anton a few years back. I get why Keryth felt so angry and humiliated, so it's a good thing Anton the ancient vampire finally finds a way to grovel properly.

After that they spend a great deal of time, with the whole team from the first book, hunting a band of rogue vampire hunters who have wiped out whole vampire dens in a neighboring territory.

There's so many great family moments too - between Anton and his four fledglings/children, between Keryth and his four sisters/children (he adopted them all when their mom died), and best of all, between all of them.

Their family also includes Trayben, the bestie of Keryth's oldest girl, who has spent most of his time at their place for years because of his negligent parents. Later, after a traumatic event, he is permanently bonded to both Anton and Keryth.

Favorite part: Keryth, who is a fae with an affinity for nature, surprises himself by trapping a number of the murdery hunters by calling forth and stimulating the root system of a nearby tree. A cage for you, a cage for you, and a cage for you! Being a nice guy who loves plants, he remembers to politely thank the tree afterwards.

I also appreciate the young girls not being super wise and precocious. The oldest sister has some opinions about the two men's estrangement in the beginning, but she's 17 so that feels normal.

Favorite annoyance: There are So. Many. Different. Characters. in parts of the story! I mean, there are 11 people in the guys' mixed family alone, and then comes Garrick the king and his people, Remi (Keryth's boss from the security company) and his people, and the people from the Ellwood coven based in Brinnswick where the hunter-hunt starts out. All mentioned separately by name time and time again. I really needed a reference sheet.

I absolutely enjoyed this fantasy romance

Rating: 4🌈

I absolutely enjoyed this fantasy romance of miscommunication resolved between an ancient vampire and a green fae, both of which have their own families to share.

It’s a sort of fantasy With Eight You Get Eggrolls, but with drama, plants, and mate bonds.

Anton and Keryth were both very great characters and wonderful together, quickly figuring out why they were so drawn together (fated mates). It wasn’t the normal fast paced relationship I expected in a fated mate story. I loved the way Notaro let them go down a slower path than an immediate step into a full blown love match. Each has a family to consider and those kids (young and old) were part of the bigger picture (and discussions) as they grew together.

Ker’s children are a more well known group (from previous stories) than Anton’s with the exception of Jed, Anton’s youngest.

The full found family Ker and Keryth’s young sisters Alsira, Gemma, Saranor, and Zellya, and Anton has his fledglings Phaeron, Beshiro, Katja, Jedediah. Then there’s one more youngster who becomes a major character and storyline here.

All played out while a series or universe drama /mysteries is going on around them, including them in its horror.

There is one book left in this trilogy and I can’t see how the huge overall plot is tied together within that book. It’s just that big.

But the author already has another series coming to follow this one, about the vampires. Which makes sense because vampires are the focus of the ongoing mystery and arc plot.

So I expect a switch in locations and characters. What fun! And more crossovers as well.

Looking forward to the final book in this series and the next series.

A definite winner.

***********I listened to the audiobook narrated by Zachary Zaba**************
This was the partnership I was excited to read, whilst reading The Wolf's (Un)Lucky Fae and The Witch’s Grumpy Dragon, I was intrigued why Keryth despised Anton as when I read about him, he seemed like a decent guy. Even when Keryth told Bel the reason, I still wanted to know more.
Anton is a vampire and local bookstore owner, friendly to everyone and everyone was welcome in his store. Keryth, a fae has his hands full, caring for his 4 younger children whilst juggling a full time job.
This is a slow burn romance as Anton has to actually explain to Keryth, and there always seems a lot going on, but slowly we learn what Anton did to upset Keryth and how Keryth ended up looking after his sisters and more about Anton's family. But is does not come easy to them, not only does Anton have to deal with a vampire issue, there is also a fugitive at large. The found family just gets bigger as more and more join the group and I loved Jeb (please tell me, he will have a story), his buoyant attitude lifted everyone's spirits and helped everyone get along.
As with the first in the series, it is full of action and there were times that I gasped out load as the action escalated, but I did do a lot of laughing as well as when all the group got together, their banter and love showed through . I am really enjoying this series and with the 3rd in the series announced I will hopefully have time to read where this world started as Sebastian and Ailin are a force be reckoned with and I will be one of the first to get the next in this series.
As for Zachary Zaba's narration, it was so good and I had no issues differentiating between the characters and there were a lot of them. It kept my interest from start to finish and I will blame the narration, for it taking longer to do my housework as I kept stopping just to listen to the story

The second book in the Tales From Gauhala Series by Michele Notaro. While the book is technically a stand-alone, I would really recommend reading the two (the first is a novella) other books in this series as well. Just so you can appreciate and understand the political climate so much better, and you can read the story in chronological order. I also got to meet almost all other side characters in the previous books, which is why I liked having read them first.

Having met Anton and Keryth in the first two books, I was really curious to know more about them. The beginning of this story felt a bit disjointed to me, with lot of things happening, but not a lot making sense yet. It did make for a great reading pace, as there was a lot more action and suspense in this book than the previous ones. Even so, it felt like if was reading three different stories at first, before they all merged together and started to make sense.

There's a bit more about Anton's history as well, as he is a very old vampire and has lived for a very long time. He's really sweet and protective of Keryth, and although Keryth is a nature fae, that doesn't mean he can't defend the people he loves. There were a lot of romantic times and as always, a lot of (found) family.

Overall, a really enjoyable read for those who like urban fantasy/supernatural reads on the sweet side. Please note this book does deal with some heavier/darker themes and you might want to check out the content warnings before you start reading.

For readers new to this author, I'd say it's not necessary to read the whole Brinnswick back catalogue (although it's brilliant and highly recommended), but I'd definitely read the first Gauhala book before diving in here.

We've met our MCs, Anton (ancient vampire and book store owner) and Keryth (nature Fae), before. They're introduced in the series prequel and appear as side characters in book one in the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series where we see one really, REALLY does not like the other.

In this (for good reason) slowest of slow burns we learn why there was such antagonism initially and why it took so long to resolve (two years have passed between the incident that started everything and the present) as well as the family histories of both main characters which have a significant impact on their behaviours.

However, as viramores (fated mates in this universe) their trajectory towards an HEA is inevitable despite being fraught with danger and violence. There's a new gang of bad guys out there and Anton, Ker and their family are in their sights.

Solid storyline plus great relationship building - not just between the MCs but also with Anton's children and Keryth's kids - and a few cameos from characters in book one as well as our favourite Brunswick Sage all make for very entertaining reading. Already looking forward to the next one.

This release is book 2 in the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series. But it is also one of a long line of Michele’s releases in the Brinnswick World, part of the Ellwood Universe. I have read every one and love them all. Ailin and Sebastian Ellwood, happily mated for 50 plus years now with a slew of offspring and an ever growing magical compound in Brinnswick, set up a portal in their son’s back yard in Gauhala so they can meddle, ah, um, drop in to assist often, said son running their latest branch of their security firms from which they guard over the Dragon King and his magical subjects.
Keryth is a green-haired half Fae raising his siblings in an overcrowded apartment. Being a Nature Fae he is now happily tending the gardens and plants for said Ellwood sibling and secretly stewing over the ancient vampire who hurt his feelings after a date several years ago. When Ker and his almost adopted Fae Tray are kidnapped to be sold to slavers, Anton rescues them both and moves the Fae family into his mansion with his vampire offspring, for safety of course.
Michele seems to be in her happy place writing in this series and we’re right there for the reading. Book three is almost a year away but don’t be surprised if the Ellwood shenanigans take a sidestep. The places that her heads seems to go with this group

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the world building and the many amazing characters throughout this book.
Keryth and Anton are so perfect for each other, you can feel their chemistry instantly. Each man has so much love and compassion and protectiveness towards those that are family or friends. They have a rough start, but finally manage to figure out the misunderstanding and begin to strengthen their bond. But it's not all love and comfort for these two and their connected family as there is a lot of danger and violence to overcome before they can settle into their very hard earned HEA.
This book is equal amounts heartbreaking and heartwarming. There are moments that had my heart pouding, had me smiling, laughing, crying .. This book is fast paced, has all the intense emotions, truly likable MC's, and a blended family that comes together flawlessly. Keryth and Anton and several secondary characters share a perfect balance of sweetness and badassery, of loving family/friends and violent protectors, all working together to keep each other and others safe from various dangers.
Overall, this book is highly entertaining and very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it.

I received an ARC from GRR, this is my honest opinion.

THE VAMPIRE'S DELICIOUS FAE is the second book in the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series and, although it says you can read it as a stand-alone, I would recommend you read the other books set in this world. I haven't and although it didn't stop me from enjoying this book, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more about the world.

Anton is our old man, an ancient vampire, whose viramore (fated mate) is Keryth, a nature fae. These two have already met but their meeting didn't end quite the way Anton wanted it to. Two years later and they're still not talking. It takes the intervention of one of Anton's children and one of Keryth's sisters for them to bridge the gap caused by misunderstandings and hurt.

There is plenty of action / danger in here, but Anton, Keryth, and their extended family are more than capable. With a smooth pace and well-written world- and character-building, this was a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

4.5 stars.

I was excited to read this and get answers to why Keryth seemingly loathes Anton so much? And it did not disappoint. Despite their one-sided animosity they are in the same friendship circle, so the tension can only go a couple ways! The misunderstanding/situation that caused the issue is very understandable and once they communicate about it, a friendship begins to form. I always appreciate when miscommunication/misunderstanding trope isn't dragged out!

What I really loved about this book is the found family goodness on all sides! Anton's and Keryth's shared found family network, but also they each have their own network that is just so sweet, supportive, and ride or die. Anton's vampiric son Jed was a BIG fave for me! As well as Keryth's kid's bff/semi adopted stray son Tray!

While technically a standalone, I think you really need to read book 1 first to really get the backstory and the over arching political plot element. Paced well with a good balance between action plot, romance plot, and side characters.

The Vampire's Delicious Fae is a wonderful addition to the Brinnswick: Tales From Gauhala series and I loved it. This is a beautifully written story with amazing characters, some intriguing twists and turns, found family and excellent world building. I was so glad to finally find out the history behind the contentious relationship between Anton and Keryth as well as learn more about both of them. Keryth is an amazing dad to his four sisters and he will do whatever it takes to ensure their happiness and safety. Anton wants so badly to make things right with Keryth but really has no idea how to go about it. Once they clear the air and are ready to move forward they unfortunately find themselves and their combined families in grave danger and they will need the help of all of their friends if they are going to destroy their enemies. There is so much going on in this story but I love how everyone pulls together and how their families so easily blend together. The ending is perfect and I can't wait to read the next book in this exciting series.

Wow, I loved Anton & Keryth. Ker is raising his younger sisters as they lost their mother. Anton was a sort of one night stand several years previously & he did something that hurt Ker's feelings and Ker disappeared. Anton knew that Ker was his viramore, fated mate, but he wasn't sure what to do to make up for what he did. When they do end up seeing each other again, Anton's "children" push him into contacting Ker. Anton then writes a letter to Ker, which I loved. I love Anton's children, and even though there is only one more book in this series, I'm hoping that Ms. Notaro ends up writing a spin-off so that Anton's children get their HEA. So the story doesn't completely surround their relationship, though it is there, but a danger to vampires. There was plenty of action and slow burn. Our boys don't have sex until around the 90% and normally that doesn't work for me, but it did here and would have been fine if they never had. I loved that we got a glimpse of them in the future. I absolutely loved Jed & hope he gets a book sometime in the future spin-off series. I can't wait for the next book!

This is the second book in the series and is best read after the first book since character's from that book make an appearance. Anton and Keryth are both such lovable MC's. They first met before this book began and parted ways due to a misunderstanding. Anton is a a vampire who is thousands of years old and lives with his "children", Keryth is a Fae who has not had a easy life. He adopted his four younger sisters after his mother died. Keryth and Anton are on the cusp of resolving their misunderstanding when Ker is abducted by a former government official. Anton ends up saving him and they both help to turn a young mortally injured Fae, Trae, into a vampire. Anton and Ker realize they are soulmates. Ker and his sisters as well as Trae move into Anton's mansion. However, a old enemy of Anton's, The Legion of Light, have reformed an dare determined to end all vampires. Anton, his family, Ker and all of their friends band together to stop the Legion of Light and their plans. This was a sweet and spicy second chance love story with plenty of action.

More tales from Gauhala:Anton and Keryth

Michele Notaro continues her tales in her Brinnswick world with this story about an ancient vampire named Anton and the fae Keryth.
The feels are strong in this one as Keryth’s mom died and he has been raising his sisters ever since and the two main characters had a big misunderstanding a couple of years back. As amazing as Ms Notaro’s world building always is she also excels at making characters that are interesting whether they are good or bad. This book has lots of great characters both new and ones from other books set in this world as well as some unique pets and some rather cool plants. Of course there is found family which also shows up a lot in her writing and this family ends up a bit like a supernatural Brady Bunch by the end of the book.
I always start one of Ms. Notaro’s books with the intention of reading slowly and savoring it and I always end up devouring it quickly because I enjoy them so much. Maybe I can go slow if I read it again? Nah!

I’ve been waiting for Anton and Kerwyn to get together since they first appeared on page, and this didn’t disappoint. I loved their growing relationship and combining of families, amongst the mix of action and drama.

These two have spent far too long apart because of a misunderstanding. I liked how that was handled, with their new found bond a necessity once the bad guys strike. I loved that although Anton is an old vampire, Keryth more than pulls his weight in the action scenes, and how his fae nature magic can be used as a cool weapon.

I loved Ker’s relationship with his siblings, and Anton’s with his children. The banter with Anton’s kids is fun. I loved the good-natured teasing and how they open their home to Ker and his family. It’s always fun to see the Brinnswick characters, and Ellwoods again.

I liked the mystery/drama plot of this story as everyone works together to track down and take out the bad guys. I liked the connection with the previous book and seeing Garrick, Roman, and Oakley again.

I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

They are both the sweetest, kindest, most loving guys around, they just seem totally different. And sure Keryth, young (compared to vampire’s) has been struggling to do whatever is necessary to take care of his siblings, just now finding his footing, while Anton has been alive for thousands of years and is wealthy and comfortable, he knows what it is to love children too, and feel loss.

They have a lot in common, and together they build an incredible family. And their bond is necessary to help them combat the latest threat. An evil clan of Vampire hunters and traffickers.

It’s a sweet story, between the action and suspense of the case at hand.

I really enjoy the series and world Michele has created. It’s a diverse cast, but they are all incredibly moral and kind. The series is also really great as an audiobook. I find it helps really bring a paranormal world alive for me, and Zachary Zaba is a solid and enjoyable narrator.

Ps. I adore Anton’s ‘children’ and I really hope we get to see them find love too.

4.25/5 It was fun to go back to Guahala and see Keryth and Anton finally sort themselves out. I thought their misunderstanding was pretty believable given the situation. I felt bad for both of them. And it’s always been clear Keryth is stubborn!

I love Anton’s (made) family. It was awesome getting to know all of them and see how they welcomed Ker and the kids into the fold. I was glad to see things resolve overall in the book, because what happened to Trey made me really mad! I hope the next book wraps things up more. (Although maybe that’s for the spin-off. Hoping they all get books!)

Anton and Keryth are very sweet together, and I love the affection and acceptance between them, as well as their protectiveness towards one another and their family. It was awesome to see more about both vampire and fae abilities (and learn some of the things very old vampires can do now that we’ve finally learned how old Anton is, lol).

I am loving this series and the cast of extended and extended and extended family.

Keryth and Anton have been hinted at a few times by the author, and now we finally have their full story. It is a classic case of miscommunication that is completely understandable in the moment and even after the fact. But when the one you love is so close, but you cannot make them even talk to you, it is difficult. This is where Anton is in his life. He has his amazing children, and a good life, but he has finally found his viramore and he wants nothing to do with Anton. But fate steps in with a dark force, and these two are forced to put their bond on the frontlines.

This story is more mystery within story than angst between the MCs. The heat is also lower, but with all the pieces that need to come together and an evil group that will stop at nothing to prevail, it makes sense.

I cannot wait for the next installment for this series, it is definitely going to be a fun one.
