It's Halloween at Pemberley and Mr Darcy is hosting some events. He's not looking for love as there's a curse on the family, but Elizabeth Bennett is curious, or just plain nosy! Can she with Georgiana find out more about the family?
Are Darcy's feelings involved? What is Lizzie feeling? She really can't decide!

An amusing novella from Rachelle

Bewitched by Pemberley: A Pride and Prejudice Halloween Tale
by Rachelle Ayala

I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you're a fan of Jane Austen and all things Regency-era, you've probably dreamed of the charm and wit that her characters bring to life. Now, imagine throwing a little Halloween thrill into that classic mix! That’s exactly what “Bewitched at Pemberley” does, and the audiobook version makes it all the more captivating.

From the moment I hit play, I was whisked away into the enchanting world where Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy live – but with a twist. The story blends the beloved characters from “Pride and Prejudice” with a touch of the supernatural, creating a delightful romp through a whimsical narrative. The premise revolves around the magical mischief that unravels when a mysterious witch arrives at Pemberley. This witch’s presence opens a new chapter filled with charm, romance, and, of course, a sprinkle of chaos.

The audiobook is auto-narrated, with a smooth and engaging voice, which brings this enchanting tale to life. Listening to the narration while reading the book added a layer of immersion that transformed my listening experience into something genuine and delightful.

One of the aspects I enjoyed most about “Bewitched at Pemberley” was its ability to stay true to Austen's essence while exploring new themes. There's humor, societal critique, and heartfelt connection, intertwined with magical elements that keep you guessing. The characters are authentic, and even with the magical backdrop of Halloween at Pemberley, their personalities shine through. The budding relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy feels fresh and relatable, particularly as they navigate the trials and tribulations posed by both societal expectations and newfound magical dilemmas.

The pacing of the story is spot-on as well. The audiobook strikes a perfect balance between wit and suspense, ensuring that you’re engaged from beginning to end. It’s a well-crafted journey that keeps you entertained throughout, making it hard to hit pause!

One noteworthy element is how the author incorporates elements of magic without overshadowing the charm of the original story. The author clearly loves Austen’s work, and this affection shines through in the clever way the magical elements intertwine with the original plotlines. It's like finding a hidden treasure buried within the classic.

If you’re looking for something lighthearted and enjoyable, “Bewitched at Pemberley” is a fantastic pick. Whether you're an Austen aficionado or just someone who enjoys a good story, this book delivers a delightful listening experience. It’s perfect for a long drive or a cosy evening at home when you want to escape into a world of romance and mischief.

In summary, “Bewitched at Pemberley” adds a fresh, magical spin on the classic tale we know and love. With a narrator breathing life into the characters, a plot that satisfies both Austen fans and newcomers alike, and a delightful dash of whimsy, this audiobook is a charming listening experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. So grab your headphones and prepare to be enchanted!

As a huge Jane Austen fan, I've always admired her bold writing style, which challenged the conventions of her era. I first fell in love with her work through "Pride and Prejudice" as a teenager, and my original copy is now lovingly worn from multiple readings. I'm such a fan that I even named my oldest son Austen!

I have a soft spot for Halloween. When I was younger, I would go all out for the holiday, and one year I carved over 25 pumpkins to decorate our yard. To me, it's more than just a holiday - it's a whole vibe, a lifestyle that's full of nostalgia.

When I saw this book at random I was ECSTATIC - it's like it was made just for me! It followed all of the characters we know and love from the original book, but there was some mystery and a festive spin on it! As a mood reader this book felt like a warm hug.

Honestly, I am not convinced that people were not incentivized to give good ratings, considering how far off from them my perception of this novella was. Maybe I am just nuts?? I was incredibly excited about a Halloween themed spin on Pride and Prejudice, but this fell so far off the mark. The whole thing felt immature, and almost wrong, like it was generated by AI. The development of the “love story” was basically non existent, and it was just …. BAD.

This is a cute story with a Pride and Prejudice theme taking place at Halloween. A family secret that is uncovered by Elizabeth Bennett, Mr. Darcy and his sister. Feelings emerge between Darcy and Elizabeth as they go on this quest. Other interesting characters, some up to no good, add to this intriguing story.

This story is largely unbelievable. You'll have to suspend belief to enjoy it. It can be enjoyed if you don't worry about everything that is far fetched. Just go with it.
I listened to the audiobook which had virtual voice narration which is always just meh. Might be better if one reads it instead of listening.

If you like the Pride & Prejudice movies, you’ll want to check out this fun fan fic story. Kind of an alternate reality with known & beloved characters, without Jane Austen’s run on (and on and ON) sentences! It’s a quick read for spooky season.

I really enjoyed this Halloween take on Pride and Prejudice. The characters are great and seem true to the original. I like the theme about ghost and curses, great for Halloween. I would highly recommend if you enjoy Pride and Prejudice but are looking for a twist and some mystery.

Not being familiar with Pride and Prejudice, it took me a minute to get into the rhythm of the book but once into it, it was a fun story! I loved the subtle give and take of Elizabeth and Darcy. The gentile way of life and the way the characters interacted were endearing and had me wanting more.
