About the author

R.V. Doon used to have a really nice C.V. detailing her advanced nursing education and numerous certifications. She's had varied experiences from bedside nurse, teacher, administrator, and ended her career as a clinical research nurse. R.V. writes across genres from cozy mysteries to historical fiction. The connecting thread between every Doon book is the colorful characters that won't let readers forget them when the story ends.

R.V. lives in historic Mobile, Alabama on the beautiful Gulf Coast with her husband. She loves seafood, deep sea fishing, and has taking up sailing.

I loved reading DOUBLE BLIND by R.V. Doon. With its fast pace and explosive imagery, it was like watching a show-stopping TV series.

The book is an intriguing medical thriller with a breathtaking tempo, vivid scenery, and mind-warping if often violent scenes. Its disparate storylines, intricately woven, come together toward the end of the book into a perfect whole. Although it never wavers from being a thriller, offering mesmerizing plot on every page, DOUBLE BLIND is also a love story.

In the main storyline Claire tries to avenge the death of her best friend who overdosed on EV, an addictive anti-depressant taken by eye drop and made and marketed by a rogue but powerful pharmaceutical company with ties to the politically powerful as well as to the Dixie Mob.

There’s real meaning to the title which resonates throughout the book and hints at outcomes toward the end. I loved the interaction between Claire and Brad and I loved the characters, Kit and Karen, and the techno glitz of this medically savvy book.

Boring too many characters

I only finished because it became a challenge. good story line but very confusing. The best part was the end when it quickly told what happened to everyone.

When I began reading "Double Blind" I was pleasantly surprised to find the novel set in and around Mobile Alabama; I live in L.A. (Lower Alabama). The story takes right off; from the first few pages-> I was drawn in: it helped that I felt at home on Springhill Avenue and eating seafood at the Original Oyster House restaurant, but the plot and cast of characters also resonated with me. "Double Blind" is fast-paced and suspenseful. I read the Kindle edition w/o page numbers; however-> about 70%-80% I noticed an increase in editing errors and a change in the flow which had been somewhat cohesive in earlier chapters. The final chapters are at times confusing as the author seems anxious to tie up loose ends, there are too many. I think R.V. Doon's effort could benefit greatly from professional editting.

Amazing, Action Packed

Plot twists, betrayals, action, romance, thriller, mystery,, corruption, organized crime.... this book has it all! Well worth the read.... fast paced, I really couldn't put it down until I fell asleep with the iPad in my hands. Only took me two days to finish it

Will leave you flexing your brain

Thrills, chills and killers galore. Tremendous story of not one, but two interwoven plots that do not seem connected at first. However they intertwine more and more as the story unfolds. Right up there with Robin Cook's medical horrors!

I really enjoyed this book! It kept me on my toes, and I couldn't put it down long enough to get anything else done. Eventually I gave up and devoured it in two days.

There is a lot to it - multiple big characters with (seemingly) unrelated plots. While the book certainly has some very dark themes in it, it's not overwhelming. I want to keep reading and smack the dirty bastard who did bad things, rather than wanting to go curl up in a ball and cry.

The whole plot was rather well conceived, and the writing was very good. No distracting spelling errors!

All in all, it was a full five stars for me. I got a lot of reading time out of it (I love a book that's not too short!) and a ton of enjoyment!

I can't wait to see more books from this author.

blend of several different storylines which ultimately become intertwined--the story of bribery and the drug companies forcing bad drugs through the FDA, long-term effects of child abuse and possibility of removing the memory of such abuse, and the ethics of medical experimentation. Overall, an absorbing book that haunts the reader after it is finished.
