⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Thrilling Tribute to an Unforgettable Athletic Feat
I hear that the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. So here it goes: I have a Tiger Woods problem. Year of the Tiger by Brody Miller is the third Tiger Woods book I’ve read this year—and I have no regrets.
This book is an absolute blast. Compact, fast-paced, and packed with vivid storytelling, it dives into the legendary “Tiger Slam,” the year when Tiger Woods held all four major golf championships at once. Brody Miller does more than just recount tournament results—he gives us a gripping, behind-the-scenes view of one of the greatest achievements in sports history. His writing connects the obvious with the obscure, offering up lesser-known gems like the showdown with Scott May at Valhalla, alongside big-picture context from legends like Jack Nicklaus.
Yes, I know Tiger is a scoundrel in many ways. I’m not here to debate that. This book focuses on the golf, and as someone who deeply admires epic athletic accomplishments, Tiger stands shoulder to shoulder with my all-time favorite: Michael Jordan.
Brody Miller reminded me why I’m so drawn to stories like this—not just for the stats or trophies, but for the emotional drama, the high-stakes pressure, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence. It’s the kind of book that gets your heart pumping, whether you’re a scratch golfer or, like me, someone who just shot a 90 on Father’s Day with his three sons.
I’ll never be Tiger Woods, but thanks to Year of the Tiger, I can dream—and relive one of the greatest runs in sports with awe! Audio edition
These days, Tiger Woods is nowhere near his prime, but I'd still pay quite a bit of money to watch him tee off just once. I'm not alone in feeling this way, and that's where our story begins, with that yearning to understand greatness. Thanks to his meticulous attention to detail and his beautiful prose, Brody Miller takes us inside the most dominant stretch of golf the sport has ever seen. Miller expertly weaves in the technical — how Woods literally tinkered with and tweaked his swing to take him from very good to impossibly great — with the historical significance of the feats and the way the rest of the world reacted to witnessing them. A must-read for those who have followed every fist bump over the years as well as those who simply want to understand what it takes to achieve unparalleled excellence.
(2 1/2). When it comes to Tiger Woods, I am a sucker for books. Is it because his birthday/year are the same as my daughter? Is it because I am an insatiable golf junkie? I am not sure but I inhaled this little book. There isn't much new here, but it sure was fun to re-live this period when the "Tiger Slam" happened. Really only for certifiable golf nuts. OK stuff.
A quick, entertaining read that will help you see Tiger's accomplishment in a new light, or at least a light with a quarter century of hindsight and context. For golf novices, there's enough background on Woods and his contemporaries where you won't feel lost. For enthusiasts, there's an analytical and psychological bent to this that will spark your own re-examination of Tiger and the Tiger Slam. The book never drags, as it cruises through the quartet of major victories with the clean, smooth flight of a Nike Tour Accuracy golf ball.
Brody Miller weaves a focused narrative together with a larger scope of Tiger’s life story and stays on target throughout the entire book. Incredibly well researched. Can’t wait for the next one
