I give up. I'm not gonna continue with this anymore. I've had enough of too much body betraying crap from Scarlet (25). She's pathetic and weak. 🤧
For someone who claims to be smart (she's a lawyer) she's really dumb when it comes to Matthias (26).
For someone who claims to be hurt and spiteful of what happened to them 10 years ago, she's either forgiving or forgetful because not one minute had passed that she didn't give this guy her time. She always, I mean always, folds so fast. She can't even pretend to ignore him or act indifferent. I mean, guuurl, where's the hate???
And apparently her body has its own mind, because before she knew it, said body was doing all the thinking and talking for her. I never saw an iota of intelligence or control from her. She's always horny when he's around, and I just can't anymore.

— This is a second chance romance. They met when he was 16 and she was 15. Her family staged a coup and kidnapped the H and his brothers, but the h helped them escape.
— He pushed her away after that kidnapping incident to "protect" her. Protected from who or what, I have no clue. Maybe this will be explained in the second half.
— Anyway, ten years have passed, and he's been monitoring her since she got into college.
— She's a freaking virgin, of course, because he scares/unalives all the guys that showed interest in her.
— He's not a virgin, he got around when he was a teenager. But since they kissed ten years ago, there has been no one else for him. He said he was patiently waiting. But for some reason, his celibacy didn't make me feel good and I hate that he got all her firsts. 😑

I really really enjoyed this one way more than book 1 because Matthias was faithful since day one!! I always wonder what happened to them now that we got their story.
Scarlett family tried to overrun? The family and well Scar made sure they were caught she helped the guys escape and sold out her family, and that made the guys watch over her and grant her her wish. Matthias took her word, so he pushed her away, said tiny cruel words, but still watched over her since that moment.
10 years, and now she's back, and he's only counting down the days until she's 25. He made her a promise, and he's keeping it even if she doesn't believe he wants her.
The tension between them is delicious this man would sit in his car for hours watching her keep her safe, 😎 Matt is everything. As for Scar, I loved that she had a little darkness inside her she's killed before, so just because she was "pure," she held her own. A Twisted Arrangement by Jessa Wilder is a dark romance with suspense, intrigue and danger that focuses on the MCs Matthias and Scarlett.
The start of the story definitely sets the scene and you are introduced to the complex relationship between our main characters with the writing drawing you in. Their connection is full of passion but fraught with challenges due to their past and present being filled with secrets and lies.
I really enjoyed the side characters, the relationship between the brothers was fantastic. I loved Damon and Misty and what they brought to the story and I think I will read their story. I would be intrigued to read Bash’s story as-well as he seems to be an exciting and fun character.
The pacing of the story definitely was uneven and I did find myself in the middle wondering if I could finish the book, with the slower paced middle having a lot of repetition and lacked the suspense and tension I needed to keep me interested. I felt like part of the plot was missing with some tension definitely lacking in areas. I also would have liked to see more of Scarlett and her family explored throughout the book and not just in the bonus chapters at the end.
Overall, it was a solid book and the ending made up for the slower middle and I really loved that epilogue. I’m looking forward to what the author with so for Bash.

I mean it wasn’t a great way to start the year, but it wasn’t terrible.
Really just mid. I had been reading it on and off for 2 weeks because I liked the plot it was just the execution that was the problem. It was very amateur.

I have to be honest and say I have not really dabbled in the mafia dark romances much. I decided to apply for this ARC because it sounded intriguing, and I was not disappointed. This was a really sweet romance with a lot of unhingedness in it HAHA. We have teenagers who were kidnapped and bonded during said kidnapping though they came from feuding families. We have 10 years of distance and then the MMC makes his move. We have kidnapping. We have knife play. We have SUPER sweet romantic gestures and a wedding and fun text banter between unhinged hot brothers. This was just overall a fun ride, and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into this world. I once again like that it was noted as a standalone and while I know I missed out on Damon and Misty's story, I don't feel like I completely missed anything by not reading it before this one.
Scarlet is regretting her decision to come home. Though she owes Damon and his family a lot, she has enjoyed having her time away and getting her degree. She has enjoyed proving herself as a successful businesswoman. And now she finds herself back in a world of glitz and glammer and backstabbing. She knows that there is a mark on her head. She knows that there are some men out there who are only after her for her seat at the table. But what they don't know is that she has had her eye on one man for a while? The problem he has ignored her for the past 10 years. Broke her heart first too. But now Matthias is acting like that never happened. He seems to be casually pursuing her. He is teasing her and she likes it but also doesn't trust it. All bets are off when he kidnaps her and claims he has loved her for the last 10 years. He won't let her go until she comes to her senses. She of course fights this. There is no way that she missed this, but then he starts to prove her wrong. He remembers things she said during the coup that her family attempted. The coop that brought them together. Now she has to look within herself to see if she can believe what he is saying? Is he being honest with her? Can she let her guard down a little bit? But she has to remember there is a threat out there that is coming for her. And when she gets kidnapped again it is not by her now husband.
Matthias has been a patient man. He did the hardest thing ever in breaking Scarlet's heart on purpose. He wanted to let her go. To be free while she could. Because once she was his she wasn't going anywhere. So now it has been 10 years. He hasn't been with anyone. He has scared away anyone she has tried to be with. He is ready. He is leaving her breadcrumbs about his feelings. Time is up so he makes his move. He kidnaps her and forces her to marry him. He is beyond obsessed with and KNOWS that she will get there too. He just has to show her how much she means to him. How much she has meant to him this whole time. He has to open up. But he also has to remember that someone has been making threats against her and that cannot go unpunished. Will he be able to figure everything out before it is too late?
This was a pretty fast read and though at times it felt like not a lot was happening, I found myself entertained. I am also excited and interested to read Bash and Xander's stories. These men are deranged for their women LOL.

Matthias was a sea of red flags, but he was totally obsessed and possessive about Scarlet from the first moment, so it's okay.🤭 Also, he was celibate for 10 years while waiting for her. I also loved Scarlet, she had a backbone and was a really strong character. Their chemistry was very good.❤️🔥
Some things didn't make sense to me and I wish this was a shorter book. Only after an epilogue we got a couple of chapters with them in the past while they were kids, and I wish we got that through the story, it would help to connect to them much more.
She marches right up to me, hands on her hips. To anyone watching, they’d see the adoration written across my face, but she’s blind to it. ❤️

My Thoughts:
This book had so much potential!! In the first quarter of the book, I was so invested. I was really looking forward to Matthias’ book because of how much I loved him in the first book in this series but I was left disappointed.
I’m no stranger to an obsessed; walking red flag MMC (I’m really not, dark romance is my fav genre). But when he handcuffed her, drugged her, and kidnapped her and took her to his house, it rubbed me the wrong way. It could’ve easily been a conversation to make her understand especially since they have history with each other and she was finally letting her guard down with him.
Also, I didn’t understand why the author put the whole backstory as an epilogue. It would’ve made more sense to do the past at the beginning of the book so we understood their history and then move onto present time. By the time I finished the book and got to the epilogue, I already knew their past because some details had been incorporated throughout the book.
I think the only parts I found cute were how he waited for her for ten years and hadn’t touched another woman since her. He really wanted her to live her life and experience shit before he locked her down. Thankfully he respected her wishes on that because once the five-day countdown started for when he would claim her, Matthias was hella obsessed. He also built her her dream farmhouse and decorated it to her style🥲 Also, can we talk about him making her carve her name on his neck with a knife?🚩🚩
The plot had so much potential but at the end it was solved so easily that it was boring. Like I expected more from a dark romance. I think overall this book missed the mark. I had high expectations coming from the first book which I really enjoyed. By the end of this book, I just wanted to get it over with. This book gave me major miscommunication vibes where he really didn’t have to be that secretive around her. I feel like she would’ve understood if he was fully honest. Like there wasn’t a good reason for him not to tell her the truth about certain things.

I loved every minute of Matthias & Scarlet's story! It was long but fast paced and I couldn't put the book down until I finished it! The chemistry between Matthias & Scarlet was intense and their banter was amazing! I loved how despite the constants threats and attempts to get away from Scarlet, Matthias was still so whipped for her lol! Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. The plot wasn't that solid and some things got repeatitive but the book was engaging regardless. In addition, I loved the epilogue so much and I'm so excited to read the next books in this series!

This man is unhinged for his women. The things he has and will do to make sure she becomes his literally unbelievable. It's very twisted but all I can think of is how swoon worthy it is. Yes I know I said what I said and what can I say I love a dark romance and Jessa didn't hold anything back with Matthias.
There is nothing I mean nothing this man won't do for her. Also he says such adorably cheesy things to her which I think I love the most.
Scarlet I'm sorry girl if you don't want the man I'll take him! But of course she wants him; she just doesn't know it yet. She needs her brain to catch up to her body because the chemistry between these two is absolutely fire and cannot be ignored forever.

Noteworthy: Interconnected standalone. Dark themes, but I would not label this as dark. Content warnings including stalking and past DV.
I did enjoy this book and put book 3 on my TBR for when I'm in the mood. I did not read book 1 since the author stated it wasn't necessary, and it didn't appeal to me. That may be the reason why I felt like I missed part of the story. The references to past events felt like it occurred in a prior book that I didn't read. It didn't hinder the story but did make me feel like I missed something that would have enriched it. Once I got near the end, I realized that backstory was thrown in post epilogue. Honestly, those flashback scenes in the last few chapters were my favorite parts of this book. I really feel that if they were part of the first act, it would have been so much better. I advise anyone looking to read this to read those chapters first.
If you're looking for a book that feels like a lighter version of a dark story, this is a good choice. The MMC is hard to the world but soft for the FMC. Over the top jealousy combined with literal touch her and die, make this a perfect series for people who like mafia style romances even though it isn't mafia.

Also love how much his family cares for the heroine and will kill their brother if he hurts her.

Scarlet Laurent & Matthias Everette OH MY LORD. Still trying to process what I want to say here, but I am simply in awe of how incredible this book was. Scarlet and Matthias are probably one of the most TOP TIER second chance couples I’ve ever read about and it’s usually a trope I don’t love because there’s some form of miscommunication that lead to there needing a second chance. BUT THAT’S NOT THE CASE HERE AND I AM SO HAPPY! 🤭🤭
Scarlet is incredibly smart, strong, and overall badass and has been from a very young age. Her and Matthias were always been to be together and the flashback scenes that explain why they were apart for 10 years had me sobbing and holding my breath 😭🥹🖤 Jessa was very strategic in putting the flashback scenes after the HEA so I didn’t have to be sad for too long 😂
Matthias is EVERYTHING. I mean selfless, protective, loving, full on man obsessed and basically perfect. He did so many unhinged things that had ZERO ISSUES with, totally here for it because he’s just a man in love who waited 10 damn years so the LOHL could have everything 🥹🖤 I love him.

Matthias exhibits the best kind of obsession! It’s easy to overlook all the red-flag behavior when it’s for a good cause. OTT J/P isn’t a strong enough phrase to describe how Matthias feels about Scarlet. He employs some unconventional methods to win her over - what's the harm of some minor kidnapping and forced marriage if it gets the girl in the end?
I loved how strong Scarlet was. She is a self-rescuing princess who is the perfect woman for Matthias, even if he must convince her that breaking her heart years before was only to fulfill her dreams. To wait until the time was right.
A Twisted Arrangement is a medium burn and spicy MF romance that ends in a HEA. It can be read as a complete standalone, though I would recommend reading A Tempting Arrangement first.

I was curious about the characters’ history when I read about them in the first book and they were cute, I liked them, even Matthias’ stalkerish behavior. At first the fact that Scarlet was a virgin didn’t convince me, but Matthias has been celibate for the ten years they spent separate so that’s okay.
I didn’t like that he messed up Scarlet’s birth control because it’s sa but I appreciate that the author specified it in the tw, also I wished we knew more about the protagonists’ background/family dynamic, we knew more about Matthias and his brother from the previous book, but nothing about Scarlet, so I wanted more details. So overall I feel like this book is missing a lot of things that in the first book are present so idk what happened.

Myślałam że historia Damona i Misty była pokręcona, ale Matthias to jednak zupełnie inny poziom „boy obsessed” 😅 Momentami śmiałam się jak szalona, bo Matthias w ułamek sekundy zmieniał się z „zaraz kogoś 💀” w totalnego retrievera. A na wszelkie rzucane pół żartem pół serio „to powalone ale kinda romantic” potakiwałam, totalnie zauroczona tym, jak wiele Matthias był w stanie dla Scarlet poświęcić i zrobić, zwłaszcza te rzeczy o których ona nie miała pojęcia.
Ten tom jeszcze bardziej utwierdził mnie w przekonaniu, że to bardzo luźna interpretacja dark romansu. Mamy bogatą rodzinę, stojącą na czele tajnego stowarzyszenia, a relacja braci jest wspaniała i jeszcze mocniej podkreśla humor, dzięki czemu wszelkie elementy mające być z założenia dark, niepokojące i związane z zabijaniem (za samo spojrzenie/dotknięcie), wydawały się znacznie luźniejsze. I had the privilege of being an initial BETA reader up until 40% ish and then directions had to be changed, so I was beyond ready for my ARC to revisit Matthias + Scarlet and to learn what became of their story.
These two share a crazy past and Matthias is the epitome of a man down bad. He is one of the swooniest (is that even a word?!) and most possessive alphaholes I’ve ever read. He played his part well and it took Scarlet a bit to realize what was happening, but once she did all bets were off. Speaking of Scarlet, I love a woman who can handle her own. She didn’t need a man to save her, but even she can admit it’s nice not being on your own.
It’s weird to use the phrase “found family” for the Everette’s since they are actual family, but they realize better than most just because you’re blood, doesn’t mean you’re family. They CHOOSE to be each other’s support and would do anything for one of their own. Their sisters included.
I love Jessa’s writing and her world and I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Twisted Vows series.

“A Twisted Arrangement” is the story of Scarlet and Matthias.
I saw the blurb for this book in a group and decided to give it a go- pleasantly surprised to see a loyal, smitten hero who was insanely protective of the heroine, waited for her to achieve her dreams before making her his, respected consent and worshipped the ground she walked on.
That being said, this book had too much noise from the Order subplots that distracted me from the main couple- that deserved more attention. Also I am a bit taken aback by how the heroine was supposed to be this badass mafia princess and we saw none of that.

Honestly, there wasn’t really anything I liked about this book except for the relationship between the brothers. The way they banter with each other was pretty funny. Scarlett tried to act like she was some major badass but Matthias would look at her and she would instantly give in. It’s really like a 1.7 but I rounded it up to 2 just to be generous.
