Joining the army was nowhere on Trenard’s vision board but, the one time he doesn’t trust his gut, he gets caught up and now he’s facing some serious jail time. The judge gave Trenard an ultimatum. Join the army for three years or go to jail for five years. Well, you can already guess which option he chose, and it wasn’t the latter. But, surprisingly so, the army is not as bad as Trenard thought it would be. He’s actually excelling at basic training and passing all of his drills with ease. While on an impromptu visit to the commissary, he sees the woman who’s going to be the future Mrs. McAllen. Now, Trenard will be the first one to tell you, he ain’t no love at first sight kind of ninja but, all that changes when he sees Remi.
After graduating from her master’s program, Remi is back in Crescent Falls and back on Fort Atkins Military Base ready to start her new job. She’s spending the day with her mama and helping her shop for the new recruits picnic which, is being held at her parent’s house. While struggling to grab a case of beverages, she feels a pair of hands at her waist giving her a little lift. When she comes face to face with the helpful stranger, she turns into a smitten kitten. The attraction is instant, and the chemistry is intense. After dealing with her cheatin’ azz boyfriend, Trenard was the breath of fresh air Remi needed. I loved how she never judged him because of his background, and how she wouldn’t allow her daddy to judge him either. When it came to Trenard, Remi stood on business. That was her man, and she was gon’ stick beside him.
I really enjoyed Under Love’s Command. The storyline was engaging, and it kept me entertained from start to finish. I loved the comradery between Remi and Trenard, I loved the romance, and I loved the family dynamics. I also loved that the story was centered around the army. We definitely need more military romances. 🪖🎖 Well done Ms. Charity.
4.5 ⭐️ Trenard meffing McAllen was a whole vibe, okay!? I can’t think 🤔 off top, of a book that I’ve read where the male character kept the same gang gang energy all the way through! I literally felt his vibe through the kindle pages 🤣😂!
Either way Trenard & Remi Wilson’s relationship is the definition of love at first sight! They were from 2 totally different worlds, which soon became one due to some childhood trouble leading him on a path that landed Trenard on Fort Atkins Army Base in Crescent Falls. They definitely dealt with some obstacles, one being Remi’s goofy ex mistake Basil (first of all, he sounds like a square with this name 😂). I’m glad he was handled the way he needed to be handled! As well, Remi’s father the Lieutenant General, was tough in the beginning but seemed to come around in the end!
Makayla was funny 🤣😂. I loved Remi’s mom, she was a R I D E R & Trenard’s gram was so sweet, loving, & caring! The soldiers were a vibe! This story sounds so similar to what I’m told goes on in BCT!. I don’t think I’ve read a bad book from sis Charity! Very well done 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾…
I love how these two unexpected meet….Trenard is basically forced into the Army for 3 years and Remi is the General ‘s daughter….you know there’s a small hiccup along the way…but, these two are destine for one another because their attraction was palpable from the initial encounter ….I love a well written instant attraction romance…Another Winner Charity💕
Just love when you can feel the attraction, connection and all of the feelings from the pages. This was just that. Trenard and Remi together was it and I loved the reciprocated feelings and actions. No games were played.
Girl Trenard was everythingggggg! The thing that stuck out most and what I love most about him is how he unapologetically himself! No matter where he was or who he was around he was TRENARD and I appreciate the authenticity. Great job per usual girl 🤗 can’t wait for what’s next!
This book was adorable. I've never read a book about the military. I really liked how the pair fell in love right away and were immediately attracted to one another. Charity never disappoints.
I loved Tre and Remi. Tre applied all the pressure to let Remi know she was his. Remi’s parent was also too cute I loved how they rode for each. The black love from them gave me all the feels 🥰🥰. I’m glad the two snakes got theirs. This was an adorable military love story.
What a super fun read. This was an insta-love story, and it moved pretty fast. The moment Trenard saw and met Remi, it was on. He pursued her relentlessly…But was it really a pursuit because she was right there with him. She wanted him just as bad. Their love was fun and almost drama free. Trenard was hard working, he was loyal, and he was a hustler. Even with his rough persona, he still had a gentle side to him. Especially with his grandmother. Remi was a sheltered army brat and came from a loving two parent home. She and Trenard came from two different worlds. But their chemistry merged perfectly together. The story flowed beautifully, and it kept me engaged the entire time. I know I can always count on Charity Shane to always deliver some super entertaining, captivating love stories. And I loved the army talk 🪖🎖
Missss Charity Shaneeeee you did your big one. I love loveeee a good girl and bad boy love story & this being a military story too was the icing on the cake!! I ate this up ‼️‼️I’ve never read a book like this before based on the military. Trenard is the type of man you don’t mind being submissive for baby. Remi I understand girl whewww.
This book had me cheesing and blushing. & the spice wasssss spicing 🌶️🥵🤭!! The bathroom scene @ the end really did it for me 🥹Idk If I was bout to cry because I’ll never find a man like that Or what. 😭🤣
Grams and Remis mom are what everyone needs in their life. They the real Souljassss.
This was my first book by this author & It won’t be the last. Matter fact give us a second book we need to see what Trenard nem doing now.!! 🤣
Under Love’s Command is a stand-alone military romance story. The author described the male character and his tumultuous life remarkably. Trenard deserved a second chance at tapping into his potential. He, unfortunately, but fortunately, was involved with the wrong crowd, which landed him in legal trouble. Remi is a good girl, a military child stepping into her independence. The chemistry between the characters was instantaneous and easy to follow. For Remi, Trenard would square up with the biggest giant and win easily. The author's research on the military shined throughout. She touched on the criminal justice system, adjusting to the military lifestyle, resiliency, and real love within the story. I immensely appreciated this book; it pulled on my heartstrings.
I had an arc copy from the author, all thoughts are my own.
Trenard SMDH! When you get a gut feeling like that, you trust that ish! You knew Black wasn't bout nothing, but that easy money was taunting you huh? 😂 I'm glad that the judge had the heart to try different measures instead of just immediately locking people up! Trenard was not feeling this decision at all, but it had to be better than the alternative right?
Remi! Growing up an Army brat has had its perks for her, but she just needed to get away from that life for a minute. Then dealing with that no good ass boyfriend of hers, she was ready to get back to the base and work. Makayla is a whole trip, and I loved her vibe. She was down for her friend, and you bet not get in her way! 😂 When Remi locks gazes with the new recruit, while out shopping, she knew she was in trouble.
Trenard was going to be who he was, and no one was going to change him. He walked into BCT with his street swag, like what?? He knew that basic training was just a mind game, and he was ready to play. Going to the commissary one day changed his life forever. Locking eyes with a beautiful woman, after sweeping her off her feet, put him on a mission. She will be mine! I loved the confidence that Trenard displayed in everything he did. Even after finding out the girl that had him smitten was the general's daughter, he was like ok! 🤷🏾♀️ It didn't take long for Trenard to win Remi over, and soon they were both falling. I can't believe Basil's ass! 🤬 Ughhh......
The way that Trenard and Grams loved on each other was adorable. Trenard really took this opportunity he was given and didn't waste it. He ran with it, enhanced his life, and found love along the way. I really enjoyed this read. Bravo Charity! ❤️👍👍👍
The insta love was cute. I loved this story and the authors writing style. I would recommend this hook to someone looking for a quick read and happy ending
I really enjoyed this story! It was such a refreshing change since I haven't read any military stories before. I loved getting to see things from both the male main character's (MMC) and the female main character's (FMC) points of view. This story felt unique and different, which I truly appreciated. It’s always great to hear new and interesting stories, and this one definitely delivered!
This was great. I had no idea how it would turn out. I am pleases with Trenard and Remi’s relationship. The entire story was an unexpected love story. The characters fit in their parts. Happy I chose this to read.
At this point I need to move to Crescent Falls! The men know what they want and they don't waste time or play about their women! This was a love at first sight - when bad boy meets good girl military romance. I loved every minute of it!
I gotta get to Crescent Falls to-now! What is it about military stories that make me think I want a military man? Because Under Love’s Command did just that. Such.a beautifully written story of a second chance at life.
The way Tre met Remi and just knew she was gonna be his forever and ever and he wasn’t gon come up off her. Yes! Immediately YES! Baby his energy, his determination and his idgaf about nothing or no one. Yeah, baby boy was a goner and her wasn’t letting her go. Remi had no idea what was in store for her and Tre but once she really got to know him, she was all in and I loved that for them both. Miss Shane you have done it again
So I really liked getting the point of view from Trennard. He was a total street thug and I was alright with that. I did it care for the constant details provided in the story. It was like we got breakfast at 8:36am, with two eggs, cheese grits, salt pepper, all on a yellow china plate with orange juice in a crystal glass at an internal temp of 67 degrees…okay I’m exaggerating but you get the idea. The details were exhausting and I found myself skipping lots of stuff due to it. Also I thought the story was pretty much over after the incident with Basil. There was nowhere else to go in the story after that, but we were only at 70% completion so the story drug on pointlessly I think. Remi was okay, but she lacked depth in comparison to Trennard. Overall I give this book a 2.75. It was my first read by the author too. I may check out her other titles in the future.
Listen via Libby. Narrators Charlie L. Wood and Gene Roberson. I liked them together.
Love this book. The writing, plot, narrators, everything was so good. Charity you did that ma’am!
This is an example how what looks hard and cruel now could actually be the piece to saving your life. That’s exactly what happened for Trenard. That man is a STEPPER! When him and Remi locked eyes that was the beginning of forever. Yeah things were shaky but Remi went with her gut. She wasn’t letting no one talk crazy about him. He was all about her. They just had that spark.
Loved Remi’s mom down. She don’t play and a very nice person all around. When that bs happened to Remi her parents didn’t just sit back and question her a million times. They jumped in and handled business ASAP. Now the convo between Remi’s father and Trenard was everything. A man that can admit when he was wrong and willing to start over. Amen. Lastly, Trenard’s story is very touching. He has dealt with trauma from a young age and for a moment he was taken back to that place. He was able to communicate with Remi how he felt after a night out. I was very proud of him. Thank God for Gram stepping in to save and love on him. That lady is an angel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Growing up with an alcoholic mother and ending up in the custody of his grandmother, Trenard McAllen isn’t exactly known for staying on the right side of the law. After what was supposed to be a quick job for a lot of money goes wrong, Trenard ends up locked up. He gets sentenced but never did expect what it would be. Enlist or Go To Jail??? Remi Wilson is an Army brat who recently moved back to Crescent Falls and is employed as a financial manager on the base at Fort Atkins. While shopping at the commissary with her mom she meets Trenard. Once Trenard sees Remi, he knows she is the one for him. I absolutely loved Trenard. He’s caring, fiercely protective and Trenard won’t hesitate to check someone or choke them out. Lately I’ve been loving these MMC’s and I can gladly add Trenard to my book bae list.
Thank You Charity Shane’ for the opportunity to read your book in advance.
I expected this was a military story with the beautiful man on the cover. The story was equally as delicious. I liked Trenard and his arrogant confidence. He went after the girl he wanted and won. The circumstance behind his military reprieve was his gift to getting his life back on track. His second chance opened the door for Kiara and Trenard's happy ending. Meeting his future love in a grocery store aisle was the first sign. The third one was the chance to show his Grams she did her job well. Although Kiara was an Army General's daughter and should have been off-limits for a recruit, I believed their inevitable outcome was possible. A good read...
I love this so much! I wanna give it 100 stars but it won’t let me. I didn’t want it to end! Everything was perfect! I love the real raw and unconditional love in this story from all aspects. Remi’s parents were so loving and supportive, her friend was, Grams was, and the love between her and Trenard was too! My son is in the Army so I love military romance stories. I hate that this is over and I can’t read it for the first time again. Thank you Charityyyyyyy! You never disappoint! Ever!
Enjoyed the Military based love story of Remi & Trenard. I will definitely recommend this story. I took another chance with this as I love all things Crescent Falls :). I was very intrigued by the story having a Military themed Love and how at the end it all worked out for the best. I enjoyed the Narration. Loved how Trenard was there for Remi when Basil was acting like BOO BOO the FOOL with the attempted assault. This story had its parts where I was able to laugh with Gram and all the comments. I love a Happy ending especially in Crescent Falls. A definite recommendation. Well done 10/10⭐️⭐️.
I usually don’t write reviews just give ratings but this book has still been on my mind since finishing it. I have read a good amount of Charity Shane’s catalog but could not wait to read this book in particular. I may be bias because I come from a Military family but not only was it a great read, it was refreshing to read a black military romance. It’s a genre that I didn’t know I was missing and would love to see more of. The writing was engaging. The characters were funny and swoon worthy. Thank you for showcasing black love in the military in such a beautiful way. Looking forward to the next CS read!
3.5⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This was my first book that was set at an army base, and I can’t say that I didn’t like it. The MMC was the best part about the book. It basically was about him; the FMC felt like a minor character, but I do like how she didn’t let her father’s expectations of what he envisioned for a partner for her deter her from what she wanted. I would like to know more about some of the minor characters that were mentioned in this book, but obviously it wasn’t about them.
Charity, Sis, you did it again!!! Remi and Trenard’s relationship was true love at first sight. I loved how Trenard never waivers and remains his true self. He loves Remi and she’s receptive to his love. I felt some kind of way about her father though..side eye. This was a great ride and shows you how great things can be if you’re open and willing.
This is one of the best books I've read this year. It was cute and funny. Insta love at its best! About to devour Charity Shane's catalog. I wonder if Makayla and Jakob will be getting a story!!!!
