As an amateur magician, Nicki knows a lot about sudden appearances. So naturally she's delighted when handsome Perry Ingram walks into her life. He's one of the best young magicians in the state and everything she wants a boy to be.
When Nicki's alone with Perry, she believes romance is on the cards. But lately Perry has been appearing more frequently with Lana, his gorgeous assistant. Nicki's afraid that her magic isn't enough to keep Perry from breaking her heart - and disappearing forever.
I found the heroine annoying at points, such as when she was always thinking of herself, she walked out not once but twice on Perry because of being a jealous brat. She seemed to think she was entitled to him from the get go without any effort on her part. So it was hard to root for her during these times. She did improve though during the second half of the book, her and Perry still ended up being cute and the ending was cute.
Nicki isn't the stupidest Sweet Dreams heroine ever (it's hard to top the dipshit who invited the Hell's Angels to her birthday party) but she's a close second. She was all the things I hate in one of these books: boy crazy, obsessed with the hero to the exclusion of all else and completely unwilling to actually use her words. Why do that when you can flounce off dramatically a time or ten? I hate you, Nicki.
Not the worst book but don’t rush out to find it. If Nicki would actually speak to her would be boyfriend instead of flouncing out of the room every time something seems amiss then maybe they could have gotten together a bit earlier (but I suppose that’s what drags it out to be the story). Not actually sure what she sees in Perry, he seems like a bit of a dud. Oh, and fugliest cover ever. Too much red filter.
