Sifted: Book Two in the Starved Series

Rate this book
With Cal and Dad still MIA, weeks after they were supposed to return, Lily must convince Mom that good things are still coming. Getting into the Sifting was Lily’s only shot of proving this, but when others reveal what’s happening inside the sifting rooms, she must decide if the risk is worth the reward. Surviving a famine and finding a cure aren’t worth much if you lose your humanity in the process.

After weeks of wandering in the wilderness, Cal’s afraid he’s failed his sister. But, when he relinquishes control and accepts some much needed help, he begins to wonder if the monsters that stalk the night are really any worse than those that walk upright during the day.

Both must discover how much control they truly have over who they are and where they want to be. They’ll have to lean on new and old friends, deciding who they can trust and when they should run.

I liked this one as much as I did the first one, this book was told through Lily and Cal’s eyes, each chapter told by one, and from the beginning we start having the two twins each going forward their destiny, Lily still recovering but set in going through the sifting, and let me tell you, all the alarm bells were going on my head since the first book, the mayor suddenly disappeared and that was something else that I wondered about what went down with her (we don’t really know what took place, maybe it was like it was with Renae father, but again maybe the Major has something to do with that… hate the guy…) the story is getting more shady and scary, really I just want to put my hands on volume 3 and read what comes next.

I really recommend this book, please start with book one or with the companion book burned and then tackle this one, you have some sort of zombies that are only active at night or so we think, please folks, don’t go poking sticks where you don’t have to, spoilers! Haha but I wont say where or how.

I will just say it, if you like post apocalyptic stories, with young adult characters, this book is for you, things go from a normal tuesday to very scary in a second, I really felt immersed in the story.

Thank you Storyorigin, for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Thank you to the author for the ARC of this book! I loved it!

This book blew me away.

While I enjoy middle grade and YA, I never usually love the books, I just enjoy them.

This book was amazing. I loved the Type 1 Diabetes rep. It was so accurate and interesting. It added a lot to the story, it added another element of fear. What would you do if you had diabetes during an apocalypse and you needed insulin to survive?

These characters felt so real and the way they interacted was realistic. The world felt real and so did the danger.

I recommended this book before I even finished reading it. I was that sure I would love it all the way through.

It does end on a cliffhanger, which did not surprise me at all. I suspected that it would and it makes me want to read the next when it comes out.

Full disclosure, I did read this book and have not read the first in the series. And As far as I could tell, I didn't need any information from the first book to enjoy this one. It's all explained in this one as well as it needs to be, so it's understood. But I will be picking up the first one after enjoying this one so much!

I did enjoy this book in this new & exciting, end of the world adventure! A good continuation of the storyline, with the family trying desperately to reunite, despite everything seeming to be against them! Good levels of action & pace, a really exciting read!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I loved this one even more. There is so much that happens. It's exciting and made me nervous. I just really loved reading it and I'm excited for the next book.
