I liked the sailing setting for this book and the fact that she (a 16 year old girl) got the job of running the juniors. I didn’t like her boyfriend Jeff. Jeff was a bossy arsehole who deserved to get dumped. I wasn’t 100% sold on the new guy, Ben, either. For the most part he was great but it seemed as though both guys were a bit brusque in their manner. Even the Commodore seemed to let Jeff get his own way. Jeff was a douche.

Romance sportivo per giovinette un po’ blando.
L'idea di incentrarlo sulla vela è interessante, ma alla fine è la stessa autrice a declassare l'impegno nello sport prendendo sotto gamba il fatto di essersi qualificati per i trials olimpici.
La parte più interessante è quella dedicata alla vela, di cui sicuramente la Blake sapeva moltissimo. Le scene di manovra, sia durante la gara iniziale che durante gli allenamenti dei ragazzi guidati da Rolli, sono forse troppo dettagliate, portando il lettore non esperto a confondersi e accettare supinamente quello che viene scritto.
Interessante l’approfondimento sul Soling, la barca capitanata da Alex/Jeff.
Complessivamente si tratta di un romanzo che avrebbe potuto dare molto di più se si fosse concentrato meglio a descrivere i personaggi nel loro complesso e se avesse raccontato il mondo olimpico con rispetto.
