Look at Her and Die

Rate this book
Posy “Doc” Hicks has high blood pressure. All thanks to a certain hazel-eyed blonde who drives him absolutely insane in her short shorts and cowboy boots.

At first, Searcy Hodges is just a passing fancy.

A look but don’t touch kind of girl.

She has a bad attitude, an even worse bedside manner, and a chip on her shoulder the size of Texas.

It would be wise to stay away, even if that attitude of hers really does great things for him.

But how is a man supposed to stay away when her temper is just that spectacular to experience?

He’s literally watched Searcy make one of her customers cry and not care.

She’s the poster child for ‘don’t do this if you want to stay in business.’

Yet, everyone keeps coming back.

And she keeps shelling out the attitude.

He’s a grown man. He shouldn’t get as much enjoyment out of watching the woman struggle.

He should be figuring out his own life, not wanting to dig into hers.

But the moment she breaks down in his arms and asks him for help, setting aside the attitude and exposing her vulnerability, he finds it impossible to say no.

He’s a Truth Teller. A biker with a hero complex. A paramedic and a former SEAL.

It’s literally ingrained in his psyche to help, and it’s painfully obvious that Searcy could use everything he has to give.

And while he’s solving her problems, he’ll make her his along the way.

She’ll never see it coming.

Searcy & Posy's story is a fun read! I love the way they sort of... explode... into their relationship. 😄

Lots of stuff is going on in their lives & they have a solid base for navigating through everything. I enjoyed the way they support each other through each crazy thing that comes up. Searcy was forced into raising her family, but she embraces this role & doesn't let all the things trying to beat her down take away her sass. Posy is running himself ragged trying to keep up with everything going on, yet still makes time for Searcy and her siblings, and I loved them all together, including his sister.

They also most definitely bring lots of 🔥🔥🔥 to the party. 😂

Another highly enjoyable read for me.

Very different characters! I appreciated their unique backgrounds and family dynamics. This is a story about families just as much as it a romance between Doc and Searcy. There isn't as much suspense in this book as some of LLV's other stories, but there are plenty of "WTF" moments!

Fricking loved these two!!
Posey was ...
In your face, but not in a bad way,
She didn't mince her words
Why lie?
Life was too short

Her mom needed to be kicked to the curb!
Sometimes the necessary lessons are the hardest ones

And the twist!!!

The whole storyline
The absolute chaos that was their romance
The supporting characters that brought so much to the story

I'll be back with a full review

This is one you'll want to grab
It's worth trading your morning cup of Gogo juice

“Searcy & Posy Sizzle: Small-Town Sass Meets Biker Broodiness in Lani Lynn Vale’s Best Yet”

Lani Lynn Vale writes the kind of romances that make you feel—not just for the couple, but for the entire town. Her characters are so vividly drawn, you could swear you’ve passed them on the street or overheard their banter at the local diner. In Look at Her and Die (Content Advisory Book 2), she does it again with masterful precision, giving readers a heroine who’s as fierce as she is unforgettable.

Searcy Hodges is the kind of woman readers want to be—sharp-tongued, loyal to a fault, and shouldering far too much responsibility for someone her age. Raised by a flighty mom, she’s practically raised her siblings and now runs the family diner. Life is full and complicated, with no room for romance… until Posy—a hot, grumpy biker-slash-doctor—walks in and turns everything on its head.

Neither Searcy nor Posy have time for love—she’s juggling family chaos and a busy business, and he’s got his hands full with farm life, a drama-stirring ex, and caring for his sister. But fate has other plans. The chemistry between them crackles from their very first exchange, and when Posy sees the cracks in Searcy’s tough exterior, he falls hard and fast.

Ms Vale absolutely nails Searcy’s character arc, showing all sides of her—her strength, her exhaustion, her heart. It’s layered, real, and deeply satisfying. Add in Posy’s quiet protectiveness, the sizzling heat (because this is a Lani Lynn Vale book, after all), and a suspense thread that tightens the tension at all the right moments, and you’ve got a romance that doesn’t just hit—it lingers.

With siblings you’ll fall in love with, a bar full of banter, and moments that are equal parts steamy and swoony, Look at Her and Die is proof that Vale is at the top of her game.

Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 / 5

ahhh, I did not want this book to end.

Searcy is my favourite kind of heroine.
she's all manner of prickly but not unjustly so. She's overworked, overwhelmed, and overstimulated. She doesn't have the time to take a minute because she lives on eggshells seeing to other people's needs. but Searcy has a whole lot of heart, and despite her fiesty attitude, she's protective of those she loves, taking no messing from anyone.

Posy is just delish. I mean, this cowboy, motorcycle filthy mouthed man meat is all kinds of delectable. He's got just the right amount of confidence and care. just the perfect balance of strong but sweet, and I could not get enough of it. His morals, his protectiveness. GAH. I needed more.

Only a wicked, confident man would take on a woman with a chip on her shoulder bigger than Mount everest and love every tongue lashing he seen and got himself from Searcy and he took it with a smile. Gluten for punished, but boy, was it the best he ever had.
The chemistry is utter perfection. Their journey progressed perfectly with a few what the F's along the way. The side characters only added more personality to the pages and had me oh so curious about certain people.

It is safe to say there never was a dull moment. Lots of laughter, crazy antics and fanny flutters all round. Lani never fails me. The sadest part is awaiting 6ish weeks for the next!.

(Motorcycle club romance, sassy FMC, FMC is struggling to make ends meet and is taking care of her siblings, forced proximity, grumpy/grumpy, backwards baseball hat)

Lani Lynn Vale excels at writing realistic and relatable stories that make you FEEL and keep you on the edge of your seat. This book is just that. I seriously couldn't get enough. It's one of those books that I kept checking my reading progress (percentage) and would get sad when I kept devouring it because I didn't want it to end!

Give me a sassy female main character (FMC) who is struggling to make ends meet and is taking care of her family/siblings. Make her a waitress who keeps it real. I EAT THIS UP. Searcy was everything I wanted in a FMC. I felt so much for her, she had me grinning, laughing (girl is sassy) and hurting for her.

Posy/Doc is an intriguing and interesting Motorcycle Club member and a delicious cowboy. He owns a ranch and looks delicious without his shirt on and a BACKWARDS BASEBALL HAT. YUM. He is quiet, strong and a protector. I fell so hard for him.

Also, the spice is SPICY! Here for it.

What an amazing story. Another 5 star read from Lani!

I love, love this series in this book!! Searcy and Posy are the it couple! Searcy is such a strong and feisty woman because of the way she has had to grow up. Posy just wants to look out for his ranch and keep it for his sister and be a member of his MC. They are an unlikely pair but they work well together. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

Another book in the Content Advisory series that isn't as dark as I would expect it to be. While the MMC is in a MC, that's a very small part of the story.

Overall, I rate it 4⭐out of 5 based on the following categories:
🤩Enjoyment - 4;
👥Characters - 3.5;
📖Plot - 4;
🗺️Setting - 4;
🖋️Writing - 3.5.

What worked for me:
- The FMC is sassy, speaks her mind, and doesn't take crap from people
- The MMC is strong, protective in a "touch her and die" way, and takes care of others
- No third act breakup

What didn't work for me:
- There was at least one instance where the POV abruptly switched causing some confusion.

I'd recommend this if you are in the mood for a 🌶️🌶️🌶️spicy MC adjacent story with a small-town vibe, strong FMC, and protective MMC.

Look at her and die ☠️

Look at her and die is the next book in the Content Advisory series and focuses on Posy and Searcy❣️

Searcy runs the local diner with her siblings, with an absentee mother, who picks up and doesn’t return for days..sometimes weeks on end. Money is tight, but Searcy is a take no nonsense kind of person and has attitude for days🙌

Posy is a part of the Truth Tellers MC and is a rancher, while also looking after his sister Scottie. Posy sees Searcy at the diner and is inextricably drawn to her and her attitude..but he knows she’s TROUBLE even before he starts going out with her😜

Loved this story and I’m so excited to read more about this series and the characters🤩 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review🌼

I am not new to the author and this series since I have read book one. This one did not grip me like the first one, I think I dare say there was a lot happening and it was a little too much for me. I enjoyed the characters and everyone else in the book but I was not able to form a full connection with it all. I will not go into overly details since there is a lot that happens here but here are my thoughts on the story and MMC + MFC

These two are not on each other's life radar at all, until they were. The MFC has a lot going on in life, she does Book Cover design on the side all while taking care of her siblings while her mother is not really in the picture [basically the mother is flaky and the MFC has no other choice but to take care of the family. No dad] that said they also own a Cafe and it's a rather popular one in town. The MMC has a lot going on himself but he is more grounded I feel like. He is a former Marine turned rancher but also in the local MC. He has a sister he takes care of and wants the best for her but definitely works his butt off to support it all after everything that had happened to his late father and then mother. These two end up on each other's radar and it takes off from there. I'm not really sure how to describe their romance since this is the only author that focuses more on the life aspect than Romance and smut, don't get me wrong there is smex scenes and all. This might also be my reason for no connection, I need the smushy romance even just a tiny bit, now these two have chemistry absolutely, but this is book 2 and the main characters first time was yet again rushed and random and I was not feeling it. That said I am looking forward to more, this is a different style and type of author I do enjoy reading and know that if one book didn't work for me fully, the next or others will. If you're looking to read this book first, I would rec of course reading from the beginning but you can read this as a stand alone too.

Don't read the synopsis! It doesn't do it much justice. Loved this book but almost passed it by based on the book summary.

Go in blind. You'll love it!

Look at her and die was about Posy AKA Doc. He’s a Truth Teller MC who is also an ambulance medic. When his dad and stepmom die, they leave him custody of his 16-year-old sister and a family ranch that is beyond repair and more than likely what drove his dad into an early grave but per his dad’s wishes, he leaves his job (only working long enough to keep his licence active) and works the ranch. His biological mom is evil, and he doesn’t get along with his brother who is also a lawyer. They both are from the upper crust and want him in a suit and tie in their circles alongside him. When a woman he is seeing asks him to chosoe between her and the ranch – it’s a no brainer. Nothing will drag him into that snooty world. He’s fine with his ranch and his 16-year-old sister who has the kindest heart known to man.
Searcy has a bad attitude about life. She works a dead-end job as part owner of her mother’s resturant. Her dad died and her mother became flighty. Luckily, she gave Searcy part owner of the place and full custody to her younger three siblings. And her older brother is in the military. This family and work for scraps all their lives and have holes in their shoes to prove it. Searcy has NO problem telling customers “Grill cheese” is the only thing on the menu – like or leave. She also has no problem taking the baby of a tired mom (Baker) as she walks serving customers.
Doc becomes a regular customer and notices Searcy, and she notices him, but they don’t speak until Searcy sister tries to beat up his sister all because Doc paid a guy to bring his sister home after school for extra cash. Turns out it was Searcy’s sister’s boyfriend, and she didn’t like it.
Over time, a customer leaves Searcy a tip that changes her world! It would also put a target on her back, so she goes to the only man she trusts – Doc. Together, they tackle life and become a family with their siblings. GREAT read!

Aella got in her car after a tough day at the hospital only to find it didn't start. This is why she parked several blocks from the hospital always making sure she was on a downward slope. It is also why she is thankful she has a manual transmission so she can start rolling and pop the clutch. At least she will make it home. She'll worry about a new battery in the morning.

But she looked up and realized she had an enthralled audience. Her heart sagged when she saw it was the gorgeous Dr. Clayborne, the hospital's sought after anesthesiologist, who was still in his scrubs and was watching her from the seat of his Harley. Of all the people to see her, she was mortified.

Her day only got worse when she arrived at her apartment to find out that her con of a mother once again talked the super into letter her in. Robbing her blind... again.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable.

Aella is barely making ends meet and she blamed herself for letting her mother manipulate her out of her chance to get away. She finally was able to leave, but her mother still finds a way to get access and still all her money. Chase Clayborne loves his job as an anesthesiologist, but at the end of the day he can't wait to change his scrubs for his Truth Teller MC cut. His fellow doctors would be shocked by his alter-ego.

This dark romance is action-packed and full of danger from several fronts. Chase's job as a doctor is to save lives, but when that world collides with his brothers of the Truth Tellers MC he will always take their side. This book is smoking hot and twisted with MC justice.

If you like dark MC romance, you will love this book. Highly recommend!

5 She's Got Great Problem Creating Skills Stars!!

Searcy is the woman Posy didn’t know he needed! Their dynamics had me both laughing and swooning. Searcy’s life is nothing to write home about. She’s literally keeping her family together because she doesn’t have a choice thanks to a mother, and I use that term very loosely, who seems to disappear for several weeks or months at a time. And with this responsibility, Searcy basically has no life. But boy oh boy is she fabulous.

Searcy is very deliberate in her every action and word that comes out of her mouth. And when Posy meets her there’s just something about her that draws him in. He’s got his own set of problems maintaining a ranch he’s not so sure he wants, raising a little sister and being part of a MC. Given Searcy’s penchant for getting into situations that could have some dire consequences, he comes to her rescue on a somewhat regular basis. There’s this simmering attraction that’s just below the surface and one night everything comes to a proverbial head and there’s no turning back!

I devoured this book. I loved their connection, the witty banter that at times held so much tension that it was literally a precursor to the sexy times. And the way this man loves her she’s just not sure what to do with it. Searcy, for all her sass and bravado doesn’t believe she’s worthy of love. But that doesn’t stop Posy…which just made me love him that much more!

This book is a faster mover and there’s a lot that happens as Searcy and Posy’s relationship is tested and passes. I loved how the MC was always on her side and proving that being part of that family is exactly what they both need. Both Posy’s sister and Searcy’s siblings do a lot of growing up in this book and it just made me smile when everything truly comes together for all of them. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!

If ever there was a better FMC, I’d like to see one. Searcy was “raised” by an extremely flighty mother, and is now practically raising her three siblings because of said flighty mother. Plus she is keeping the popular family owned diner afloat as well. To say she’s stressed is an understatement. But she is still fierce, sassy, smartmouthed, and loyal to a fault. Posy is a former SEAL, a member of the Truth Tellers MC, a struggling rancher, and turned on beyond all normal things of Searcy and her sass.

Posy and Searcy weren’t even on each other’s radars until they were. Their chemistry is combustible, and the spice is spicing LOL. LLV did an amazing job with bringing the realness of Searcy’s character to life. She is definitely one of her most relatable heroines. And Posy…he’s a backwards baseball hat wearing rancher with a leather MC cutte who is determined to make her his.

The titles of this series are GENIUS! There’s definitely no misunderstanding of what you’re getting yourself into lol. As with any typical LLV book, you always get her quirky sense of humor, relatable characters, heart, family (found or otherwise), lots of love, and a touch of suspense. And as I always say when reading and reviewing her books, the current read is my favorite until the next one lol. That goes for the series as well. You know you have a favorite author when you get the book and you read it in one sitting, in just a matter of hours, Every. Single. Time!

I really enjoyed Look at Her and Die by Lani Lynn Vale. The story grabbed me with its strong-willed heroine, Searcy Hodges, who definitely isn’t afraid to show her attitude and stand her ground. Her fiery personality and sharp bedside manner made her a fascinating character to follow, even if she’s a bit rough around the edges. Posy “Doc” Hicks, the hero, is equally compelling—a paramedic, former SEAL, and a man with a hero complex who can’t help but be drawn to Searcy despite her prickly exterior.

What I loved most about this book was the dynamic between these two. Their chemistry is intense and electric, full of tension and moments that made me smile. The way Posy patiently breaks through Searcy’s tough shell and supports her vulnerability felt genuine and heartfelt. The story balances humor, heat, and emotional depth really well.

I also appreciated the family and community vibes that are a hallmark of Lani Lynn Vale’s books. The supporting characters add richness to the story and make the world feel lived-in and warm, even when things get tough.

The pacing was mostly solid, though I felt a few scenes could have been trimmed to keep the momentum going stronger. Still, the emotional payoff and character growth made it worth it.

Overall, Look at Her and Die is a satisfying, steamy read with well-drawn characters and a great mix of humor and heart. I’m looking forward to more books in the Content Advisory series!

This is book two in the Contest Advisory Series and it was just as exciting as book 1, at least in this reader's humble opinion. The author gave us a well written, fun, suspenseful, romantic MC storyline that had this reader smiling and laughing throughout, even if I did want to bop a few parents heads together a time or two. Posy first sees Searcy at the local diner, where she was waiting tables. Searcy is a foul mouthy, “tell it like it is” woman who doesn’t take crap off of anyone. Having to raise her 3 younger siblings due to her manipulative, lazy mother has definitely shaped her into the woman she is today. Posy is drawn to her feisty, sassy attitude. But he doesn’t have time to date. He’s too busy trying to raise his little sister and save the family ranch. Posy and Searcy’s lives seem to keep crossing paths but can either of them even stop for one minute to do something for themselves.

This storyline has a lot going on besides just the attraction between Posy and Searcy. There is lots of suspense, self discovery and tense moments. But most of all it has a lot of laughs, smiles, romance and fantastic characters. So far through book 2, I can’t recommend this series enough. Kudos Ms. Vale for giving us a real treat. As for this reader, I can’t wait for book 3 to hit the shelves.

Whenever I get an ARC for this author, I keep it till the last minute, cause I know when I start it will be over so quickly. And that’s exactly what happened with this one.

It was just so good. Searcy was such an amazing character. She was one person in her family who took care of everyone. But she was also someone who didn’t let anyone take advantage of her. And everyone knew not to mess with her. When she met Posy the grumpy biker, she knew he was going to be a problem. (I loved her)

Posy’s life is just as busy. He is taking care of his little sister and trying to get his family farm up and running again. So he didn’t have time for woman or relationships. But meeting Searcy, he was totally infatuated with her, even if he didn’t want to be. And it looked like she needed him, cause she was always getting into trouble…

This one was just so good. I loved Searcy, she was an awesome character that has you rooting for her, to finally get her day. Posy was just what she needed in her life. Someone to actually take care of her needs and make sure she is taken care of. The romance was great and with both of them having dis-functional families it made for a great read. Searcy’s sister definitely intrigued me, as well as Posy’s sister. I am totally looking forward to the next book in this series 😊

I'm in LUUURRRRVVE with this series.. *sigh* the hunky alpha men who protect their women...where can you find them? In LLV books of course!!
Grumpy frustrated girl's life is suddenly upended by a tattooed neighbor and his band of brothers ; a slow-burn romance blossoming from dwindling luck and second chances at life, totally worth waiting for
The title itself explains the hero. He's Uber protective of his love interest and his band of brothers gather around like protective shield too.

description

"Posy "Doc" Hicks is a Truth Teller. A biker with a hero complex. A paramedic and a former SEAL. "

And a local diner owner Searcy Maddelyn Hodges is struggling to keep afloat and take care of her siblings, since their irresponsible mom keeps flitting in and out of their lives. Sassy fighter battles the world, but nothing for herself. Funnily enough mom's name is revealed at 82%😂, she's that inconsequential

description

"To be honest, life would be a hell of a lot easier if I got abducted. Maybe they’d put me in a quiet room where there was no sound, where I could sleep on a bare mattress for months. That sounded like heaven… "

Till one dumb luck move lands a big bag of riches right on her doorstep.
The story is simple but full of nuanced sentiments, but lusty encounters between Posy and Princess.
LLV takes us on a giddy ride where I was the one riding pillion on Swoon-worthy Doc in his faded jeans and cutt
Of all the sexy characters, I was most intrigued by Calliope and a unique one - jail breaker, red car chaser, Sweet Baby Rae😂😂

description

" That was Sweet Baby Ray. He was vindictive and spiteful and could hold one hell of a grudge. "

The story reflects LLV's style of storytelling with lots of heart, witty banter to keep it interesting and excellent writing skills. Cannot wait for the next one.

This installment in the ongoing series was another thrilling read. We were captivated by the story and found ourselves unable to stop reading due to the humor it brought. Searcy was undoubtedly our favorite character, closely followed by Malone, two women you wouldn't want to cross paths with.

The story was filled with suspense, well-developed characters, and a mix of heartache, pain, laughter, and love. The chemistry between Posy and Searcy was intense and electrifying, making them a captivating couple. The steamy scenes added an extra layer of excitement to the already engaging plot.

Searcy's vibrant personality and unpredictable behavior kept entertained throughout the story. Posy was a perfect match for Searcy and her family, fitting in seamlessly with their dynamic. The story had its share of twists and turns, but the resilience of this couple was truly remarkable. The supporting characters added depth to the narrative, and we were intrigued by the mystery surrounding Posy's mother and the animosity she harbored. Calliope's presence added an intriguing element to the story, and we enjoyed the interactions with the club members.

Overall, this was a hilarious and captivating read that kept us hooked from start to finish.

📖Genre & Tropes📖 : romance biker x insta-lust then love x Grumpy heroine x billionaire heroine x some family dramas x spicy scenes

⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐

A nice but slightly disappointing book !

I must admit that while I love Lani Lynn Vale's older books, the more recent ones are a bit more disappointing for me ... While the romances are still great, they lack drama and twisted plots !

I really liked Searcy and Posy, who have so much going on in their personal lives but manage to find each other and build a relationship =)

But I would have liked more drama surrounding Posy's family, his ex, his brother, and also Searcy's family and all the creepy people who threaten her!

In short, a romance that's easy to read but not unforgettable !

Bold, brash, and emotionally charged, Look at Her and Die is another addictive installment in Lani Lynn Vale’s Content Advisory series. This time, we follow Posy “Doc” Hicks—a paramedic, biker, and former Navy SEAL—who finds himself unexpectedly captivated by Searcy Hodges, a woman with a sharp tongue, a guarded heart, and a wardrobe full of sass.

Their chemistry is electric, their banter is hilarious, and their emotional journey is raw and real. Vale does a fantastic job of blending romantic tension, personal growth, and small-town charm, all while keeping the pace fast and the dialogue snappy.

Searcy is a standout heroine—flawed, fierce, and unapologetically herself. Watching her walls come down as Doc proves he's more than just a tough guy is incredibly satisfying. The story touches on themes of healing, trust, and finding love after trauma, making it more than just a steamy romance.

If you love alpha heroes with a soft side, strong heroines who don’t back down, and stories that make you laugh, swoon, and maybe tear up a little—this one’s for you.

Would I recommend it?
Absolutely. Especially for fans of Vale’s other series or anyone who enjoys emotionally rich, character-driven romance.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Posy & Searcy: triggers- child abandonment, bullying, corrupt law enforcement, assault, theft. I really liked this but I have to admit it took me a minute to get into it. This book was definitely different in that both characters were struggling in different ways to live their lives and that fact seemed to have them avoiding each other much longer than LLV usually has her characters. Searcy is taking care of her brother and sisters and is a complete hoot and my spirit animal because any time she opened her mouth to say something, I literally finished the thought before reading it. She had me cracking up. Posy, running his family ranch and a member of the TTMC, is still an alpha male despite struggling with working all the time. I love how he finds Searcy’s prickly side adorable and sexy. This book had all the feels stepping to the stage ready to burst through. From happiness to turned on to angry and ready to fight. And it's good to know the truth teller MC is still very prominent within the series and still protects what's theirs. Love the cameos.

~~~~~~~~~~ Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐++++++++++ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Wow I really love this book series, and I have to say it's a little bit different than what Lani Lynn Vale has written in the past. This series is a little darker and I love every word. I love how intense these stories and characters are they don't shy away from subject matter that may shock and sometimes leave me breathless. There is a reason why LLV named this series Content Advisory and as this is the second book I can see why. After reading the first book, Grumpy Sunshine, I wasn't quite sure what I would get with this one, but I was not disappointed. I honestly did not want to put this book down and did not want the story to end because it was so enthralling and engaging throughout. I highly recommend reading this series in its entirety in order for the best enjoyment of all these amazing characters. I am simply in love with this series, and I can't say enough good things about it. I just hope LLV writes faster so that I can get my hands on the next book.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I missed the first book in this series but I never felt like I missed anything or that I need to read the first book. This is actually a really fun story. I know does this author do fun? Well this book is definitely lighter than some of her other recent stories.
No one dies in this book even though the word dies in the book title. I know Posy is supposed to be this really tough motorcycle gang guy but the truth is he is a rancher and he works hard. He is protective and intimidating and he can kill you with his eyes. And there are definitely some people he would definitely like to make disappear in this story but honestly aside from the biting scenes, this is a tame story and a lot of fun.
S is our heroine and she is just awesome. Honestly I don't how she did it. She took care of her three siblings, her moms diner and had a secret job. When something major happens, she turns to Posy because she trusts him and from that point on this book is so much fun.
This was a solid read and a nice addition to the series, especially with the return of familiar faces I’ve grown to love. I always enjoy Lani Lynn Vale’s blend of humor, steam, and emotion, and while this one had all those pieces, it just didn’t hook me as hard as the last few books have.
Posy was likable, though he gave off more cowboy vibes than biker, and Searcy was a bit of a wildcard—fierce, chaotic, and definitely rocking that grumpy-sunshine dynamic (with a heavy dose of grump). I did appreciate her tough love approach, especially when it came to taking care of her siblings in the absence of any real support from their mother.
The chemistry was there, the banter had its moments, and the emotional beats landed, but for some reason it didn’t leave that lasting “wow” feeling or make me want to dive right back in for a reread.
Still, it’s a solid entry in the series, and fans of the Truth Teller MC will appreciate the continuity and glimpses of past characters. Not my favorite of the bunch, but worth the read if you’re following along.
Searcy is full of attitude. She tells it exactly like it is and doesn't care if it hurts anyone's feelings. And, Posy is ridiculously attracted to her and all the red flags he doesn't have time to deal with since he is too busy killing himself trying to save the ranch that was his father's legacy for his little sister.
But Searcy is so much more . . . She is a giver and has given everything for her siblings. And Posy is the first person who isn't asking her for anything. But instead is willing to help her when she needs it.
Look at Her and Die was fun and unexpected! Watching Searcy's life turn around in unexpected ways was pretty awesome. I loved her siblings. I loved Posy's sister as well. Readers also get to see the Truth Tellers in action a bit as we get to know a few more members.
Family drama is what it's all about for both Posy and Searcy as well as learning to move past it to make your own way to a happy ever after.
Why fight an attraction that feels meant to be . . . 4 stars!
I am loving this series and the Truth Tellers MC. This is Posy and Searcy's story. Posy is a retired serviceman who has taken on his family's crumbling farm and guardianship of his younger sister. He is gruff and in no mood to take others nonsense or make room for emotional entanglements. Searcy is the feisty local diner owner. She is outspoken and overworked as she manages the family diner and cares for her younger siblings. Her Mum is in and out of their lives so Searcy is the one keeping it all together.
Both of the MCs have huge and determined hearts. They give their all to those they love, often to their own detriment. In each other they find a certain support and peace. They feel stronger for having each other and becoming a united team. And that's aside from how much they burn up the pages in the spice department.
Another fun and steamy read from LLV delivering alpha MMC steaminess alongside sparky and outspoken FMC brilliance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the second book in the Content Advisory Series. It is the story of Searcy and Posy. Posy's mom is not really in the picture. This leaves her taking care of her younger siblings and working as a Book Cover designer on the side. Her family also owns a very popular cafe in town. Searcy was a Marine but now that he is out of the military he is an rancher. He is also a biker and belongs to a local MC in town. He has a tragic story involving his mother and father and is too left to take care of a sibling. He works his butt off to do it too. When these two meet the sparks are flying all over the place. I loved that these two find themselves in similar situations and can support each other. Their connection is really strong. There is a lot that goes one in this book. Some will have you one the edge of your seat. I loved reading this book and can't wait for the next one.
Searcy Hodges, if you don't fall in love with her, we can't be friends. Kidding, but she is hilarious, strong, opinionate, and won't take anyone crap. That include Posy "Doc" Hicks. She doesn't have time for men with a God complex who think she needs saving. She's been trying to protect her siblings and save them from a worse fate. Her mom is useless, and I wanted to smack her. However, Posy will get under her skin and show her there is more to life than being a doormat, and while he's at he will show her that she's lovable. Searcy doesn't deny that Posy is attractive and she wants something for herself, but sometimes things don't work out how they are supposed to. How can someone love you when you're broken and trying to care for your siblings? Sometimes, though, siblings are also the ones who stand by you when you don't think they will. This book was beautiful and amazing, and I just loved how these two meshed well together.
