Nope

Ok, so I was interested in this story because of the lead up from the last book. But both main characters were awful people. Yes, tragic things happened, but they were so selfish, and I really just got the ick from both of them.
Spoilers ahead.....

First: the fmc hates the mmc bc she thinks he saw her get sexually assaulted and laughed, then walked away... she reports the assult but leaves out that someone witnessed and could have been an accessory. Also, if she thought he was that vile of a human, why wouldn't she tell her bff so she wouldn't be around him all the time?

Second: she gets pregnant from the assult and hates the baby, and she even names it Damon bc he's her demon. Why? Have an abortion or give the baby up for adoption. She does eventually love the kid but mentions that it's because he looked like her. Idk, it gave me bad feelings.

Third: the mmc's knows his kid isn't his, and so he says he doesn't form a daddy daughter bond with her on purpose?!?! He knows her bio dad is a club brother but doesn't immediately rectify the situation.

Fourth: The mmc's mother is mentally ill and is now super disabled. He treats her like a burden and really should take therapy himself to get over his hatred of her. I felt so bad for her. Yes, she made mistakes, but she is all alone in a state facility with no visitors.

So, I wanted to finish the story because I love hearing about Gunner and Lottie. I've been waiting for Gunner to have a hea for years. But I didn't like this couple at all.

Oh dear Lord, the first 3 chapter TORE ME A NEW ONE. I was a broken woman, and the story had barely begun. What a freaking start.

Creole is broken in a way that made her bitter, understandably. She had been failed by life and nothing was in her control, so she did not hide her anger nor her resentment. She wore it like a coat.

Audric did things to make others happy. Yet life had fed him one to many hardships. He carried on through it all, but it grated him deeply.

These two were a pair, let me tell you. Between their own personal trauma and the stuff shared, it was honestly a miracle they found any kind of happy. But man I was rooting for them. Creole and her no-nonsense attitude paired with Audrics protectiveness. They just were made for one another, and that made their history even more heartbreaking.

This one is soul deep hurt, but what a journey. The characters, as always, were great with growth and relatablility. The story weeved us through a hurricane of emotions and ended with the most perfect epilogue. I will leave it here because I don't want to spoil anything, but man, do I need some downtime to rebalance myself.

I loved Audric & Creole, but omh are they put thru the wringer!! They need lots of hugs & a drama free rest of their lives after all they had to go through. 😆

Lots of things going on & their story kept me on my toes! They're sweet together, as well as verrryyy spicy when they get there. 🌶🔥🌶🔥 Audric is very sensitive to Creole & what she needs & I just adore how he cares for her.

This one goes to a couple dark places, as well, and there is a trigger warning, so be sure to read that if you have sensitivities. I did have to skip a couple grittier things that weren't part of the warnings, but they were very short bits (I'm usually pretty good at knowing when things like that will pop up in an LLV so i can skip a couple paragraphs/pages)!

Overall, thumbs up!

This book was good and my heart broke for them both! so much time was lost, but they got their second chance romance. The book was definitely different from where I thought the story was going to go, but I still enjoyed it. I am so happy Gunner got more of a spotlight in the novel. I have loved him since his uncle Parkers book.

This was an excellent and satisfying read from Queen Lani. I am so enjoying the Truth Tellers and their brand of justice. I love the HEAs and the growing found family within the club. Audric had suffered from tragedy, and discovering what was really going on was so enlightening. Seeing him find his person was a great reveal. Well, it just made everything all that much better, and to know we still have quite a few Truth Tellers to go...well, it makes this girl happy!

Audric and Creole❤️‍🩹

Mistaken Identity is the next book in the Content Advisory series and deals with a few sensitive topics, so please read the disclaimer before you start reading if you have any triggers. That said, this story was heart felt and also heart wrenching. Audric and Creole’s journey to be together is fraught with multiple challenges but finally they get their HEA and it’s beautiful🙌

Can’t wait to read the next book and see who’s up next. I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review😍

Can we say overload!
What was with all this shit? My heavens the amount of crap both of these characters went through and it all felt like it wasn't a big deal except for her being raped and the mom trying to kill herself.

Too much in my opinion. Didn't really connect to either character but it was just so much. I started explaining it all to my son and I still missed plot lines that didn't go anywhere or make sense.

I could spend some time going over why this book didn't work but I would like to point out LLV's editor and beta readers need to do a better job at pointing out plot holes and issues with stories. I can read her books in just over 3 hours and dealing with lots of just unnecessary plot-lines when there was plenty of emotional fodder to work with that doesn't require the heaps of angst like this one had.

We start with friend of friend but attracted to that friend (plenty of teenage angst)
Then Audric's sister is murdered and mother has a meltdown though she sounded like there was having issues before that. MMC parents are going to divorce but mother then ATTEMPTS to commit suicide by blowing half her face off. Instead of divorcing her and putting her in an institution/care home they cater to her. THEN, we have the best friend of two main characters plotting to get married to the MMC because she loves him secretly and bribes him to give in so her trust fund can cover the astronomical cost of his moms care. And he stays married for years. THEN she gets pregnant to keep him married to her and he knows it's not his. In previous books he's heartbroken about losing her but thankful the baby is saved. Now we find out the baby is one of the MC brothers kids who had gotten drunk enough to go to bed with his MC brother's wife????? Really? No morals in this one.

Next, Creole is raped by a fellow classmate and believes Audric just left her in the room when she is assaulted when he happens upon the two in the midst of the attack. FOR YEARS. She is not only raped but gets pregnant and has the child. The child she has a hard time connecting to at first since he's a product of rape but she gets over that then the child gets sick and is diagnosed with leukemia and goes through horrid treatments then die. Followed by her mother having cancer as well and dying just months later. She loses her best friend Laney in the car accident but helps Audric with Lottie until the truth is forced to come out because the child is having some health issues that need to be addressed by the DNA donor father. They kinda sort that out but in the midst of this Creole decides she needs to get counseling for the rape and goes sees a MALE doctor who then creeps her out. Oh and lets not forget the pilot that has the hots for her and is sexually harassing her at work. And the other pilot who 'helped' her get past her rape by, I'm assuming here, having sex with her even though he is gay.

There are other issues like the rapist being tracked down and being brought to justice by coincidence had turned to wit sec after having information to share on Shasha's little Russian mafia ring. And the doctor not only harassing Creole but then starts messing with Audric's mother and business to get him to back off on him stalking Creole... WTF??

This is a bit too much, didn't enjoy it and struggled to get through it.

Oh and remember the pictures Calliope took for the wives of the MC? Never mentioned again from what I can remember. Oh and of course they have twin girls in the end and name them both after DEAD people. Another LLV thing that she loves so much. And reusing names, like AUDRIC AND CARTER. (Remember those names from the Carter Brothers) Gonna have us all confused. There are tons of names in this world find some new ones and not weird ones all the time like CREOLE. That's a freaking dialect not a name. Just saying...

I'm about done with the LLV book grind. Loved her early series and still re-read them all the time like the KPD Swat and Freebirds but this churning out a book a month and it's not even got any real meat to it. Just not impressed and not happy to pay $5.99 for a book that takes me less than 4 hours to read with very little enjoyment.

Ms. Vale has done it again! She's taken readers on another emotionally intense journey that puts them, as well as her characters, through the wringer. In a story of childhood friends whose relationship turns to jealousy and ultimately to tragedy, things turn unexpectedly steamy as those left behind redefine what they've always meant to each other. Set amongst the backdrop of the Truth Tellers MC there's also suspense along with characters laying the groundwork for future installments.

Creole Williams and Audric Ingram are compelling characters, ones that you're drawn to and can picture interacting with in real life. Creole had a difficult past full of trials and tribulations, one that could've turned her bitter, but she's a bright light with a big heart. She's an empathetic woman with a strong backbone who finds a family of her own within the Truth Tellers MC while making the most of her second chance with Audric. Audric's history with Creole has taken a lot of turns, and it's not always shown him in the best light, but the man he is now definitely shows him worthy of her and protective of her through everything. Despite his tough exterior there's a softer side to Audric on display, especially with his daughter that made his connection to Creole even more believable and richer. Theirs is a romance of pure perfection, one built on a rocky road full of pain and heartbreak, that had me glued to the pages from start to finish.

By the turn of the final page I was left emotionally drained but immensely satisfied by this romance of second chances. It's raw and gritty at times, sometimes with triggering events and particularly in depicting this couple's past, but it made their HEA all the more rewarding. On a whole there's a perfect balance of steam and suspense that held me captive and unable to put this book down. The other members of the Truth Tellers MC further enriched this story through the unwavering support they gave to Audric and Creole in their role of being a found family. I look forward to where things go from here for the Truth Tellers, and for a series that continues to pull at your heartstrings, as Ms. Vale keeps publishing one winner after another.

Mistaken Identity by Lani Lynn Vale is a gut-punch of a story in the very best way. By chapter four, I was crying, and by the end, I was convinced this is one of the most heartfelt and moving books in the series so far. Vale has a sneaky way of pulling the rug out from under you emotionally, only to build everything back up in a way that leaves you both wrecked and satisfied.

Audric and Creole share a history that isn’t simple—they were childhood friends who drifted apart, but their second chance at reconnecting is powerful. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and I adored watching their love unfold with such tenderness and passion. Creole is a bright, hopeful character who could have easily turned bitter from her past, but instead, she radiates resilience and warmth. Audric, meanwhile, reveals depths I wasn’t expecting, especially with his devotion to his little girl, Lottie. His storyline absolutely floored me and gave the book even more emotional weight.

The story doesn’t shy away from tough moments—there are heartbreaks, revelations, and scenes that made me want to throw a punch—but that’s what makes the romance so rewarding. The MC side characters like Gunner and Cakes add their own layers, tying this book beautifully into the broader world. And those little nods to Parker and his family? Perfection.

This book is a rollercoaster of feelings, filled with love, healing, family, and a whole lot of spice. Lani Lynn Vale once again proves she knows how to weave emotional depth with sizzling chemistry, and I cannot wait for the next installment.

Thank you Give Me Books Promotions and Lani Lynn Vale for giving me an ARC of the book. All opinions are my own.

I have always loved Lani Lynn Vale’s romance writing style because her characters feel like real people—people you could easily pass in the street. That kind of genuine authenticity is rare, and when it’s done well, it makes her stories unforgettable.

I can hardly believe we’re already at Book 5 in the Content Advisory romantic suspense series, but Mistaken Identity proves yet again why this series has completely captured me. It delivers everything I’ve come to love—an addictive slow burn with simmering chemistry just waiting to ignite, a suspenseful edge that keeps you on your toes, and a heart-wrenching emotional core that digs deep.

This time, we get a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers journey that is equal parts raw and breathtaking. Creole Williams and Audric Ingram were inseparable growing up, bound together through a shared best friend. What neither of them knew was that behind all the banter and friction, they were each harboring feelings for the other. But life had other plans—heartbreak, secrets, and missed chances kept them apart. Now fate is giving them another shot, and it’s everything I hoped for and more.

Lani Lynn Vale has once again raised the bar. Mistaken Identity is gripping, emotional, and filled with all the passion and twists that make this series one I never want to end. It just keeps getting better and better.

📖Genre & Tropes📖 : biker romance x stalker plot x second chance romance x spicy

⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐~⭐

A second chance romance that addresses several very painful themes, but one that I enjoyed reading !!

I hesitated a bit before starting this book because the previous books hadn't really convinced me ... But this one was quite nice but also very difficult in terms of the past (beware of triggers : rape, death of children and parents, suicide attempts, etc.).

The romance isn't unforgettable, but it was a pleasant time.

In short, a painful romance but also a pleasant read !

Mistaken Identity by Lani Lynn Vale is book 5 in the Content Advisory series by Lani Lynn Vale. It looks at the characters Audric and Creole who have somewhat of a past together that just keeps getting in the way! There’s definitely a backstory to these characters, but we’re thrown into the deep end on why Audric has an issue with Creole, and why her heart still pines for him, even when he does/says some questionable things towards her. But in saying that, when they get to where they need too, it is full of love, laughter and Audric protecting Creole no matter what!

Creole was such a nice character, and you really feel for her as she goes through a lot of trials and tribulations along the way. I like that she has a backbone though and that she is just a gentle soul that truly complements Audric in every way. I also loved the background about the pineapples 😊
This was definitely one of my favourite books in this series and I can’t wait to read more from this one click author!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐++++++++ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This book was so good, and I loved how the story was so drawn out to show Audric and Creole past as well as their present and future. They started out as friends of friends, and they always had a rivalry between them to gain Laney’s attention. But this story was truly about them and their past hurts. My heart broke for Creole, the pain and suffering that she went through literally brought me to tears. I was feeling all the emotions when her past was revealed. In the beginning I honestly hated Audrick as I thought he wasn't the man I thought he was. The truth teller MC family are truly amazing, they are there for each other no matter what, a true family filled with love, laughter, and of course lots of drama. This series is one not to be missed and this author will blow your socks off. I do suggest that you read the series in order for the most enjoyment as you do not want to miss one word or second of these stories. They get into your heart, mind and even your dreams and this is one place you don't want to ever leave. I cannot wait till the next book, I hope it is as good as this one was.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the fifth book in the Content Advisory Series. This is the story of Creole and Audric. These two are really going to put you through your paces. They go though so much that I probably would have just thrown my hands in the air and ran. I am not afraid to admit that I cried reading this book. Creole and Audric share a history. They have known each other since childhood. But, they drifted apart. Now is there second chance to reconnect and see what happens. They have some amazing chemistry that will have you hooked on them from the get go. It is a thing of beauty to watch them fall in love. Now doubt this book is passionate and romantic and will have you reading like a crazy person. But, like I said it is super emotional so be prepared for that. Creole has a past that could have turned her into a really bitter person. But she didn't let this define her. Audric is a father and super devoted to his daughter. You are going to fall so hard for this man. I loved every single second of this book. You do not want to miss this book or the entire series for that matter.
So Creole and Audric were somewhat bff's as kids and then things changed and he didn't know why. She felt he knew something that, apparently, he did not. They both have a lot of tragedy in their lives and seem intent on keeping their feelings in check with people. He realizes his daughter isn't his so he decides not to become attached to her. The whole marraige with Laney was just bizarre and I didn't get it. Creole being okay with it was questionable at best. Laney's manipulations and neither of them calling her on it was just crazy to me. I didn't like either of them and felt like they were selfish to the extreme. His treatment of his mother was horrible. She definitely had issues and, yet, people who should have had empathy for her, acted like she was the devil. I could understand some of his resentment towards her, but the way he acted like his father was blameless and his mother should have been the one to suffer was just not something I was able to get over. Not my favorite couple by far. The whole Hawaii thing was just off for me too. Too much going on and it just made the book a hot mess for me.
5 He Wants It All Stars!!
I’ve read every book LLV has released since I first discovered her in 2020 and we’ve been taken to some emotional and dark places. But this book tops them all. I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but from the very beginning I was entrapped by this story. Audric and Creole have a history that is both stressful and healing if that’s possible.
The minute I started weeping in the first part of the book, I realized that with their complicated history, these two would have to find a way to listen, open their heart and realize that while it may take some time, that with the love they have for each other could truly heal them from the inside out. Coming along with them for this journey, his brotherhood of the Truth Tellers and their wives and girlfriends, as well as some of the cutest babies ever and a need for revenge that given all their skills gives them satisfaction of the highest degree!
This is a not to be missed book in this amazing series. Fasten your seatbelt when you begin because you’ll be there for the highest highs and lowest lows combined with a sizzling chemistry that surprises both of them!
Ms. Vale has really given us readers a superb emotional storyline with Mistaken Identity. As for the characters, to say she nailed them would be a total understatement. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this book pulled at my heartstrings. It had me tearing up at times and soaring with delight at others. My heart broke for the tragedies the main characters have suffered, for lost time and so much more. But Ms. Vale doesn’t let us wallow long, my heart soared as time passes and truths are told.
This book is filled with lots of 2nd chances too. Chances to write old wrongs, to mend personal fences, to live life and love like one always thought it was meant to be. It’s amazing watching several characters who are broken in their own ways, find peace, love and most of all healing. I know I am not doing this book justice because I refuse to put any spoilers in here, but all I can say is this is an outstanding read in a series that this reader highly recommends.
Another winner in the series. I couldn't wait to read this one after finishing the previous book. I could feel the tension already between these two. Man, I was not prepared for my heart to be ripped out several times. My heart went out to both of these characters, but what Creole has gone through could have flattened a lesser person. I have no idea how she kept going. Those Truth Tellers brotherhood gets me every time. Yes they live in the morally grey area, but those guys defend their own to the ends of the earth. The bombs this book kept giving me I couldn't keep up. I was gasping left and right. Yes, this book left me on the edge of my seat like any Lani Lynn Vale book, but it also delivered on all the feels as well. I was rooting for Audric and Creole to get the ending they so deserved. I will say this book left me with a huge smile on my face. Now I have to wait rather impatiently for the next book in this series. This book so good you do not want to miss out on reading it. I read it in a day. I just couldn't put it down.
Mistaken Identity by Lani Lynn Vale
This is probably my least favourite book from the series so far.
I just didn’t connect with the MCs, and I felt like the romance was really on the back burner until the end. There were too many things going on, and despite that, I was still a little bored.
There were moments where I should have been able to relate, where I should have felt an ache in my heart, but instead I felt flat and disconnected. I think this comes down to the book being bogged down with too many side plots, which detracted from the traumas the MCs have gone through in their pasts. The relationship just seemed secondary, and it didn’t work for me.
As an aside, why is it called Mistaken Identity? This is disappointing, because that is one of my favourite tropes, so I assumed the hero and heroine didn’t know each other. Yet it turns out they grew up together. I kept wondering whose identity was mistaken, and I guess I just figured it out as I’m typing, because it’s not part of the main plot. Disappointing.
2.5 stars (I’m really sad to give this rating)
Dramatic and heartfelt! The next book in Vale's Content Advisory Series brings Audric's story. We knew it was going to be emotional because of the loss we knew he had suffered, but there is so much backstory that we had no clue about that makes it even more drama filled and addictive. The characters are quick to catch the reader's attention and the plot is thick with strife and redemption. I really liked both Audric and Creole and their happily ever after was magical.
Creole was my favorite. She's sweet and sincere to those who know her, but she's had a hard life and doesn't forgive when she's wronged. I liked seeing her and Audric get to a place of uncovering misunderstandings and letting their attraction flare into a loving relationship.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a dramatic romance with great characters, a plot filled with so much to talk about and a happily ever after that will have you swooning!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Audric & Creole: triggers- sexual assault, suicide, cancer, grief, loss, PTSD, stalking, HIPAA, mental illness. Well this book really just took me for a ride down the emotion train. I can not even believe everything that LLV includes in this story. I was waiting to find out what the connection was between Audric and the flight attendant and I totally didn't expect the amount of complete and utter nonsense that happened to them. Just know that in life, when it rains, it pours and that's what happened to these two characters. Such a good story about friendship, loyalty, love, loss and all of their counterparts. I honestly believe that if LLV doesn't hit every member of the TTMC with this series, then they definitely need a separate series of their own because these dudes are some bad mfrs. I loved this book. Yes! Gimme more!
This story will rip you apart, so please make sure you read the trigger warnings. Audric's story has been one I’ve wanted to read. We know he has been through so much, and we finally understand why he is the way he is and what happened in his past. Creole was just this beautiful soul who endured unimaginable hurt. Audric, Creole, and their best friend shared a special bond until one night when Creole changed. Now, these two are about to come together when the truth is revealed. They've always wanted something with each other, but never acted on it. Now, Audric is going to take action, but he's also careful with Creole and takes his time. He cares for her and loves her with such passion. I love that Creole stands up for what she believes in, and we can see her come out of her shell. She helps those around her see the bigger picture, and it's heartwarming. When the chips fall, can these two find the love they both need and want?
I sobbed, kicked my feet in joy, fanned myself from the steam, grinned so dang much and had my heart broken and warmed. ALL THE FEELS.
This story hit HARD emotionally but I couldn’t stop reading it. Lani has a gift in writing such emotional, relatable and oh so captivating stories that I seriously can't get enough of.
Creole, the female main characters, has had a rough life and has been through so many devastating moments but she still moves forward. Audric, the male main character, hasn't had an easy life either but he doesn’t realize how much his once best friend, Creole, has been through. When secrets surface, their worlds are turned upside down yet again...will it push them away from each other like it always has or be the thing they need to come together?
This is a tough yet beautiful read. It's also interesting, intriguing and had me on the edge of my seat.
I can't get enough of Lani Lynn Vale.
Creole has endured so much turmoil and loss bur she perseveres. When she was younger she shared a friendship with Audric until one devastating night changed everything. The one thing they did share was a best friend until she was taken as well and now they find themselves trying to forge a path forward especially when it comes to her daughter.
Audric has a difficult past of his own which has affected his life choices. Audric doesn’t know what happened for Creole to go from being his friend to his adversary. When he does find out he is determined to get a second chance with the woman he has always loved.
The backstories of both Creole and Audric is heart wrenching but the strength and resilience they show is inspiring. The darker side of the story is intriguing and the after everything that Creole and Audric have been through to see them find love and happiness is everything you could want.
This is the fifth book in the Content Advisory series. This is the Truth Tellers MC.
Just a warning, this story may have some triggers. Suicide attempt, rape, and stalking.
This is Audric and Croele's story.
They were best friends in highschool...until they weren't anymore. This book will tell their full story.
You'll see what happened once the truth is out. All their old feelings come back. The hate is gone.
These two don't have an easy road. That's for sure.
Creole is such a strong woman. What she went though, man. I couldn't even imagine.
They've both been through a lot.
I loved what happened with Gunner.
I can't wait for more!
This is book 5 in the Content Advisory series, but can be read as a standalone even though some prior events are mentioned. I'd recommend this if you are in the mood for a medium spice second chance romance about two teenage best friends who became enemies after a traumatic event reconnecting as adults.
Overall, I rate it 4⭐out of 5 based on the following: 🤩Enjoyment - 4; 👥Characters - 4; 📖Plot - 3.5; 🗺️Atmosphere - 3; and🖋️Writing - 3.5 with the first 3 categories being most important.
What worked for me:
• Audric and Creole working to put aside the misconceptions of the past and support each other going forward.
• The found family vibes of the MC Club
What didn't work for me:
• There were some minor inconsistency errors in the writing, but nothing that pulled me too far out of the story.
This book had my heart hurting in so many ways. Two people who had suffered so much loss and heartache and had been kept apart due to a misunderstanding so to speak. Audric will steal your heart with how much he will do for the ones he loves and Creole will have you amazed at her inner strength after what she has endured. A story filled with plenty of drama, suspense and with the Truth Teller's around there is always a little chaos. Their story will have you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath and hoping for these two to finally find a little bit of happiness. A second chance of sorts that is filled with love, passion, trust and a found family. However their story will also bring you plenty of smiles and so much happiness. An epilogue that fills your heart completely.
Such a wonderful, yet interesting story. These two are frienimies turn lovers and I was so here for this moment. Audric has had a rough life from his teenage years on, but has always had a thing for Creole. Actually Creole had so many difficult moments and she is strong and overcomes so much. This whole story has so much drama and pain throughout, but it shows us insight into Audric’s choices and life. Plus we get more look into the Semyonov family that I loved in prior books. I am a sucker for stories that intertwine with others and this one has a lot of that. An amazing story, characters and chemistry but darkness that makes for a great read!
I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
