Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
The story begins with Daire O'Neill's daring rescue of Brynn Walsh from the asylum hospital where Daire worked. When Mrs. Thistle claimed Brynn was her daughter-in-law and unstable, she was institutionalized, but Daire knew that she was sane and needed help. With Cormac coming to move Daire to his ranch in upper Texas, this was the perfect chance.
Brynn was raised by her father, surrounded by wealth, but there was no love—only scorn and belittlement. When he dies, she is all alone and that is when unscrupulous people start calling. Men want to marry her for the wealth—and then the Thistles who took over. She had always assumed she would be a spinster with her father constantly berating her for cooking or anything she did. She was never allowed to talk with others her age, and at church functions, expected to sit with the older widows and be quiet.
“By showing kindness, we create a cycle where others feel inspired to be kind to us as well.”
Cormac O'Neill fought in the war and had a girl back home. She had promised to wait for him, and even wrote to him professing her love and devotion. What a shock to return to town and learn that Angela had married and it was all a lie. He has lost his trust in females and claims he will never marry.
The story will have Cormac, Daire, and Brynn traveling and joining a wagon train. What a shock to Cormac to learn that he can’t continue with them unless Brynn marries. There is a group of single soldiers traveling with them, and to protect the women, he agrees to a marriage in name only. But what about the fact that they are married by a Christian minister? Isn’t that like lying to God? The journey is part friendships, getting to know one another, and plenty of angst. The situation between Cormac and Brynn is friendly one day and avoiding each other the next. What happens when they finally get to the ranch? Will Brynn decide to leave and go into a town and find work? Or will these two realize before it is too late that they have feelings for one another?
Brynn has led a secluded life by an abusive father. Her father passed away and she became an heiress. Men started coming to court her but she turned them all away. Somehow she ends up engaged to one of them who has a sneaky mother. Brynn wa,es up one day in an asylum where her future mother-in-law put her and stated that Brynn was married to her son. Brynn had no memory of marrying. Daire works at the asylum and is assigned to sit with Brynn. She realizes Brynn is not insane and helps her breaks escape. Daire and her brother Cormac were planning to leave town in a couple of days to go to Cormac's ranch in north Texas but ended up leaving early to save both Brynn and Daire. When they get to the wagon train, Cormac is told he's okay traveling with his single sister but Brynn can't join unless she's married. She and Cormac end up in a marriage of convenience. It takes about 3 weeks to get to Cormac's ranch and Brann and Cormac get to know each otherbetter as well as Daire and Brynn becoming closer friends. This is a wonderful, clean story with adventure and is confidence building for Brynn who had never had a chance to really socialize before. I really enjoyed this story. Even though it's part of a series, it is a stand alone story.

An outstanding western spiritual read of a friend and two siblings attempting to travel across Texas by wagon train. Daire and Brynn were friends planning on traveling with Daire's brother, Cormac, but the wagon captain would not let any single, unrelated women on the wagon train do the soldiers. They came up with the plan of Cormac and Brynn to marry in name only, until they reached his ranch. Then they would seek an annulment once they reached their destination. I loved the characters Cormac and Brynn. They were so perfect together with a shy charisma that just jumped out at you. Of course after, they got to the ranch Devlin and Daire had their own thing going on that I hope we will see a book about them soon.

What a wonderful book! It kept me reading even when I was trying to sleep. You know that old... One more chapter rule? Oops its one minute past so I gotta read another chapter! lol Brynn was a young woman who thought she was condemned to be a spinster. She had escaped from the Asylum she was forced into, with help from her friend Daire. They were headed to her Brother's ranch in North Texas with him. Expecting to go with a Wagon Train, their plans went awry when Cormac found he couldn't take both women due to them both being single. His sister was fine but her friend couldn't go! What to do but marry her and plan to annul once they reached his ranch. But.... on the way to the ranch they survived injury, danger, men following searching for Brynn. Amidst all of this they found they had become friends. Will they find more? This book is a must read!
Brynn escapes from an asylum with the aid of Daire, they then join Daire's brother Cormac in a wagon train travelling to his ranch in northern Texas. Every time I read one of this author's books I remember why I enjoy American Historical Romances so much. Simpler times but with a different set of problems they have to deal with the everyday issues with travelling in those times, a "mother in law" chasing Brynn and the ever present danger of unfriendly natives. There is a strong Christian theme, but without getting in the way of the story. Definitely worth reading if you enjoy these stories. I received an advance copy of this book from the author through BookSprout, however this did not influence my review of the book.
This was a sweet story of a marriage of convenience growing into love. Brynn has been abused and separated from people since she was young. After the death of her father, she is committed to an asylum for no other reason than people want her money. When her friend helps her escape and they plan to travel to Texas with Daire's brother, they can't join the wagon train with an unmarried woman. When Brynn suggests a marriage in name only, Cormac agrees and they join the wagon train. As they get to know each other, their feelings begin to change. I enjoyed the story, but would have liked to see some resolution to all the questions about Brynn's past.

The beginning of the Brides of Prairie Creek series by Kathleen Ball. Wonderful story of struggles to recover from hardships. Daire helps Brynn escape from the mental asylum, then Daire’s brother, Cormac, helps them both get away to the wagon train. Brynn was placed in the asylum by a woman claiming to be her mother-in-law because Brynn had inherited a fortune when her father died. The only way they can join the wagon train is if they get married. No unmarried women are allowed, Daire can go because she’s his sister. A marriage of convenience seems to be the answer. Though neither trust easily, they start to feel something for the other one. Through trials and hardships, they are drawn together. *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
A charming story of a very naive young woman that has been taken advantage of and then rescued by another young woman. They travel with her brother on a wagon train but they won't be allowed to travel with the train unless Brynn (our naive main character) marries the brother (Cormac). His sister (Daire) encourages them to do it for the trail. There are some mishaps along the way but as the story progresses, you see their sweet outlook. This story is for those who like a very clean romance with a few unexpected turns along the way.

This an exceptionally good tale of two women that meet under a strange situation and turns into best friends. Brynn is institutionalized by a woman claiming to be her mother-in-law to steal her inheritance. Daire is Brynn’s nurse and helps her to escape the misery that was planned for here.Daire and her brother Cormac are leaving on a wagon train to Cormac’s ranch in Texas and Brynn joins them. You will absolutely enjoy discovering how Sugarplum and Lovebug find their happily ever after. Hope these are more in this series.
Daire helps Brynn escape the asylum where her pretend mother-in-law sent her, she and her son were taking over Brynn's inheritance, after her father died. After escaping Cormac, Daire's brother, hides them in his wagon, they're off to his ranch in Texas. There's a problem, the wagon train captain won't take unattached females, Daire is ok as she's Cormac's sister, but Brynn isn't. Will they leave her behind? Or go it alone, which is very dangerous.

I really enjoyed this story. Daire and Byrnn became friends in the asylum. Daire was a worker and decided o help Byrnn. Byrnn, her supposedly husband and his mother had her put in the asylum to get her riches. They escaped, went to her brother, rode the wagon to Texas. Along the way, Byrnn, was a single lady, could not go on the wagon train unless she was married. So, Corbin, Daire’s ‘s brother, married her and the journey begins, enjoy.
Brynn is rescued from an asylum by a worker called Daire. Cormac agrees to marry Brynn so she can travel with them to his ranch in Texas. This was a good and entertaining book. I liked the chemistry between Brynn and Cormac and how their feelings for each other grew every day. I would have liked to read about a confrontation with her supposed husband and mother-in-law. This was a very nice book to read. Kathleen Ball has done a justice to the characters in this book. From a woman who escaped an asylum with the help of a one of its helpers. She runs and hides with the person who helped her escape, brother. In fact they all head to Texas on a wagon train. First they are told the sister can come but the other woman has to be married. So what happens? A marriage and the fun starts. A very enjoyable book to read
This is a sweet story of a young woman falsely imprisoned in an asylum. Brynn is rescued by a young worker who is leaving with her brother Cormac. When they arrive at the wagon train they were to join, Cormac marries Brynn so she can continue on to his ranch. The plan was to annul the marriage. Their journey to his ranch is the story. Sweet love story! After a harrowing escape from an asylum, Brynn finds she must be married to join a wagon train. Cormac to the rescue! Her childhood was abusive and she doesn’t understand how to be friends or who to trust. Convenience and necessity turn into true love. Don’t miss this new sweet, inspirational love story! I’m looking forward to the remainder of this series!
Daire had helped Brynn to escape the asylum and leaving with her brother on the wagon train was perfect. The rule of unmarried women on the train forces Cormac to marry Brynn for travel and protection. This is their journey. What will happen when the trail ends and they get to the ranch? Filled with adventure, intrigue, learning and romance. Great read!
Being at a place you never would expected and than being saved by a stranger. But what to do now? Luckily she got the chance to make something of her life, and maybe even find love.

A great beginning to a new series. I loved Brynn and Cormac's story. Neither of them were expecting to find love but when circumstances put them together it happened. It took them awhile to figure it out and get their HEA. It all makes for a captivating read that I read straight through.
Running away from the asylum was the first step in getting away. Now Brynn is traveling with her rescuer, Daire, and her brother, Cormac. Brynn has her faith to help her through.
A clean romance, trusting God with the future, marriage of convenience, and a wagon train from Southern Texas to Northern Texas.

I enjoyed the book! Daire, along with her brother, helped Brynn escape from an asylum. She had been put there by an unscrupulous woman. They traveled by wagon train to Cormac’s ranch. Brynn and Cormac had a marriage of convenience so that Brynn could travel on the wagon train. This is a clean wholesome book. I highly recommend reading this book!
I guess because of my age, it just doesn’t seem that long ago that women essentially had no rights and could be locked away without anyone really investigating. Kathleen Ball has brought us a story with romance, humor, treachery, compassion, and a few surprises. I enjoyed Brynn and Cormac’s story. Remember to get the Bonus Epilogue.
when evil is chasing you and there is little to do but take a friend's help to escape. Finding your way towards a new life would be nearly impossible for a single female just after the Civil War - a story that calls you in from the very beginning and keeps you reading until the end!.

What started as a marriage of convenience became much more on the wagon train to Texas. I loved Daire and Brynn's journey of love. From the adventure, danger, and unexpected twists to the well written story and well developed characters this is a great start to The Praire Creek Brides series. I can't wait to read the rest of this captivating series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I enjoyed this Christian historical novel. Set on a wagon train in Texas, there are many trials and dangers along the trail. The main characters each have their own flaws yet have to work together. If you like a sweet romance in the American West, this is a good one.

This book has one of my favorite genres. I love historical romance fiction. A well written story with great characters. Great book for an evening of reading. I received a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Beautiful story! It is hard to believe how entitled some people are and think they have a right to other peoples fortune. But the love that developed between those two was beautiful.
This is a delightful and heartwarming story about faith, courage and love. The story is about Brynn and Cormac. They marry for convenience but It is a rough journey these two take to realize the truth. This is a fairly short and quick read that I could not put down until the very end.
Ending matches expectation with her regaining her fortune. She deserved to find happiness after her father's abuse. Incidenta with cowboy rangers seemed s bit much
