Everyone's wondering who is behind "Dear Amanda", the new advice column in the school paper. Everyone, that is, but Tina.
Tina loves playing Amanda. She's excited about her mysterious new identity, and thrilled by the success of her column - students really are taking her advice! But something is still missing from her life - that special feeling for one particular boy. How can she be so unhappy when things are going so well, Tina wonders. Is she asking for too much? Why are other people's problems so much easier to solve than her own?
For YA books of the 80's, this one is a catch. I used to love this book when I was in middle school, it was the kind of light romance young girls dream of. What girl doesn't want some cocky guy to secretly be in love with her and leave her little notes and clues?! If your reading this book for the first time and your over 18 -STOP and find something new! But if your still in your early teens and still waiting for that perfect first kiss, then this is the book for you.
I really liked this, I quite liked Tina who was in a way, different from the average Sweet Dreams heroine, she was serious and shy yet she wasn't at the same time. It probably has to do with her growing up faster due to the loss of her mother and having to take her place for a while, and now that she had a new stepmother, she no longer had this weight on her shoulders so she starts to come into herself during the book which comes across well in the writing. Anyway I liked her, I also liked Brandon and their exchanges, both constantly saying the wrong thing and not conveying what they actually want to convey to each other. Which helped set up the secret admirer plot line in the "Dear Amanda" column and I enjoyed it, actually "Mystery boy's" letters were really sweet. Just another sweet Sweet Dreams book.

Pretty good for a Sweet Dreams YA story. Main character is confident and even a bit witty (I liked reading her advice column bits). I think as a teenager I probably liked this one a lot (as a 49yr old, it’s passable - I’ve read a lot worse 😂).
One of my mom's pocketbooks when she was the same age as me! This is an amazing book and it's so recommendable and appropritate for teens like me. Love love love the romance . Pure and simple.
