I was ready to be underwhelmed, but this quick read surprised me! It's like one of the billionaire romance highlight reelz I see all the time- quick, sexy, and full of tension between Leo and Mas. Now I'm hooked and need to know what's next!

Such a fun and quick read. I hated both of the characters in the beginning, but that quickly changed.

At first, I thought Leora was a delicate flower, but I was wrong. Leo is more like an angiosperm. Flowers don’t regrow petals. When it blooms, the flower needs the sun and water to survive. Masaccio picked up the flower, removed its petals, and stomped all over it. Not knowing when you remove a flower from a plant, a new stem will produce which then will start the growth of new flowers.

Mas eventually won me over with his groveling though.

I'm not sure how I feel after really thinking on this book for a day or two. What I am sure of is that Mas was made out to be the bad guy, no questions ask, and I don't feel it was warranted. There was heavy favoritism played between the characters (like Mas was supposed to be some reformed evil Mafia man, and that was not the vibe I got from the blurb). In reality, he was a gentleman mob boss heir, who was clear and upfront about what he did and did not want from the marriage (which was absolutely in concert with his personality and grooming). He stated these things multiple times, intentionally in gentle ways, so as to preserve her feelings and dignity. Leora was simply too naive and "head in the clouds" to listen. Even when her best friend told her things about Mas, she didn't alter her actions, yet she claimed to "know him" so well. When he did try to step back, take her perspective, and talk to her about things, she wanted no part of it. (Definate favoritism shown between characters.) Okay, so the "evil" guy's the one who extended the olive branch, and still no credit. 🤨

Leora WAS a spoiled Brat, a pampered princess, who pouted and giggled her way to what she wanted. She was clingy and suffocating. Overtly affectionate and almost domineering. None of those things were appealing to Mas. Then the forced nature of the whole thing (cause that's the only way it was going to happen) simply made his skin crawl. Not once did she ASK him anything. NOT. ONCE. Seriously?!?! Just no, please. My reaction to the ending was two-fold. One, I thought she appreciated the process for what it was. (Initial process just came off as childish.) Second, other than that single observation, the conclusion really missed the mark for me. Guess it would have been hard to undo the negative favoritism of characters given in only a few brief chapters.

I did receive this as a gift copy and volunteered my review. I have read other books by this author I very much enjoyed. I think it was simply because of the personality and mannerisms of the FMC I struggled with this book. Read it for yourself. Perhaps you will have a completely different experience - clearly others have based on other reviews. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

ARC Review 🩵

3.5/5 ⭐️
2/5 🌶️

I was looking forward to reading Mas’ story after reading his younger sister, Dalila’s. I felt like there was more to him than the not so great side of him we got in her story. I liked his book but I felt like there could be more character development for both main characters. I didn’t feel like we got to know both characters that well. Despite that I do think that this book was still good. It kept me interested enough that I read it start to finish on a plane ride. I was glad that the FMC finally stood up for herself and made the MMC grovel because in the beginning of the book it was insane how much effort she was putting in to only get nothing in return. I recommend this book if you’re looking for a nice + easy read. I don’t recommend this book if you’re looking for a heavy plot with a lot of character development and spice.

Masaccio’s father has set up an arranged marriage for him with one of their rival families daughters. A girl that Masaccio is extremely attracted to but wants absolutely nothing to do with. He never wanted a marriage and he won’t let her believe their marriage is anything but a business deal. There will be no love.

Leora has been obsessed with Masaccio Vece since the first time she saw him. When her father breaks the news to her that she needs to marry him - she is on cloud nine. She finally gets to marry the man of her dreams. Or so she thought. She quickly realizes Mas is nothing like the man she painted him to be. He is cold and ruthless. He doesn’t want her + she realizes that she is now going to be stuck in a loveless marriage. She needs some space to come to terms with her new life so she chooses to flee town in the middle of the night leaving Mas crushed. Is it too late for him to show her that he does want her & he made a huge mistake?

This book was a bit of a disappointment to me and was not one of Hannah Rio's best works. It felt rushed, the MFC was way too naive for me in regards to relationships. The MMC, also not being the strong Alpha type that I like in a book. especially a mafia romance
Being the only daughter of her mafia father, when he became engulfed in debt, he sold her off to his biggest rival to assist in him to remain "at the table" with the rest of the mafia bosses.
Leora was pure, her father made sure of that and when she was partnered with her long time crush, Masaccio, at her best friends wedding,
she could not believe her luck. She tried desperately for him to take notice of her, but he remained distant and aloof. So when she found out her father had arranged a marriage with the eldest son of his rival, Masaccio, all her dreams had come true.
The story line was not strong enough for me and found it an easy read.
Masaccio was raised to be the heir to his fathers empire. Love did not come into it and he felt indifferent towards Leora. Not knowing how to love he pushed her away, not wanting messy feelings to become involved within the arranged marriage. He felt lust towards her, because yes she was beautiful to look at, but he refused to give into his desires.
Once Leora realized all her efforts to get to know Mas were in vain, she decided to treat him the same way. Mas was confused and couldn't understand why this disappointed him.
The storyline follows the to and fro between the couple as they find their footing in an arranged marriage. Mas learning how to love and Leora learning how to forgive and let herself love Mas once again as she did when they married. They eventually find the HEA.

Masaccio Vece is attending his cousin Isabella’s wedding and he forgot he’s a groomsman. Also, to his surprise, the bridesmaid he has paired up with is the one spoiled brat that is the daughter of a rival. he’s attracted to her, but she’s too clingy for him so he tries to stay away and everything he does to push her away. She just pushes harder to get him.
Leora Alesso, the daughter of Marco Alesso. She met Isabella in college and they have been friends, even if their families are rivals. For as long as she’s remembered, she has had a crush on Isabella’s cousin, Masaccio. And she hopes now at Isabella’s wedding she will make him hers. Even if her father has made sure his is pure and innocent, she wants the eldest Vece’s son.

Masaccio hears that Marco is having money problems. A week later Marco is in Vicente’s office discussing a deal involving his daughter.
Masaccio is a grade A @$$, cold and emotionally closed off. He doesn’t need a female or the problems they bring. Masaccio was raised the be a leader, no time for soft feelings and now that may be the one thing that will destroys him. This book is a story of a girls fairytale dream of her Prince Charming, and the reality she actually gets. You will shed tears. You will clinch your fist, and you will scream at the book, but the emotions that will be dragged out of you will be worth it in the end. A true lesson in ‘be careful what you wish for’. Great addition to the Familia Vece Series.

🌶️🌶️ (A mix of passionate and cringy spice)

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Two misunderstood people who find love within each other.

I was skeptical at the beginning, no lie, because Mas seemed like he was going to be an asshole. Though we know he has a soft spot for his sister. And Leora would be a spoiled princess. Her crush on Mas was cute and I just knew I would enjoy watching these two fall in love.

Weddings in Mafia romances always bring out the passion in two people who probably shouldn't be together I see 😅.

Not going to lie Leora came off as a bit of a brat. And not in a good way. It was really hard to connect with her at times. And I wondered how that would play out with Mas. But I will say reading her experience unrequited love was heartbreaking...and some what relatable.

Plus I'm happy she makes him grovel after the way he treats her. I understand it being an arranged marriage but he acted like she wasn't worth his time...and gave no reason.

Moral of the story when life gets hard...run away to Hawaii ✌🏾

Mas knew he messed up when Leora went off to Hawaii. And I'm glad he went after her. Their encounters while there were needed for the relationship to grow.

I do feel there was a lot of background information missing. Why and how did Leora fall in love with Mas. More information on Leora and Dalila friendship. As well as Leora's family dynamics. Similar to the first book in the series, I felt we were dropped into this book and there were so many unanswered questions.

A wonderful story about two people from rival mafia families being brought together by an arranged marriage.
The daughter and the son of the two rival families first meet at a wedding that they both were part of and at the reception the two kiss. After that the mafia family bosses go into an alliance and as part of the alliance the two will be brought back together in an arranged marriage. The daughter is happy about it since she has had feelings for the son for a long time but the son is furious about having to get married to the daughter of his family’s rival.
The beginning of their time together he keeps his distance from her but at times he does get close, having sex with her a couple of times. After a while she stops trying to win him over so she goes off doing her own thing. It doesn’t take long before he tries to get her attention by giving her things as well as buying her expensive gifts.
The man doesn’t notice the mistakes he has made until he wakes up and she’s gone. After he finds out she left and where she went he starts figuring out how he has been acting towards her and how he feels about her. His sister talks him into going after her.
When he finds her the two have sex and when he goes to apologize he messes the apology up so he tries to apologize to her again, telling her how he feels.
They two start over again going on a date and even redoing their wedding vows. The couple are happy and they both love each other.

Communication Brings Forth Happiness -
When Masaccio was forced into an arranged marriage, his plan was to make it a marriage in name only, but everything changed after his cold demeanour towards her every time she made any loving gestures, caused her to become indifferent towards him. Leora tried everything possible to get Masaccio to reciprocate her feelings, but nothing worked, so after he didn’t even acknowledge the gift she gave him, she chose to stop caring about him.

Masaccio panicked when he realised Leora no longer wanted to be near him and started living a separate life, so he pulled out all the stops to try and get her attention, but nothing he did worked. Unfortunately, Masaccio realised his gestures were too little, too late, when Leora disappeared without him knowing about it. However, Masaccio‘s sister gave him the kick up the backside needed to get her back. Finding Leora may have been easy, but it took Masaccio jumping through a few hoops to get them back on track towards the future they both wanted.

This was a really enjoyable read, with great tension between the main characters from the beginning of the story, which only heightened as the story progressed. Hannah Rio gave us another interesting page turner, filled with heartfelt moments, passionate encounters, a bit of drama and an ultimate happy ending. This book is an absolute must read.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Masaccio father is still in control setting up an arranged with a rival family one of the girls he thought was a beauty but course he couldn’t never tell his father that although he isn’t a man you want on your radar, he can be dangerous, ruthless, on a good day, deadly every day, and he never wanted marriage but he knows it is a business deal for them to move forward. Leora was born into the mafia family has always know that her father would set her marriage up but she has her eye on the sexy Masaccio so when her father tells her she is to marry the very man she couldn’t be happier and when her wedding day finally arrives she is so happy until she realizes he is nothing like she imagined. Her husband isn’t anything like she painted him to be in her head, he is cold, ruthless, and he didn’t want marriage, but will they give each other a chance, will they see past what’s right in front of them with no judgement, and can they find happiness?

Love it is by MeemsAngel82

I absolutely loved this! I just found Hannah and I'm loving this series. This particular book can be read as a standalone but characters do appear from the previous book. The writing is wonderful, there are intense moments and I didn't know what was going to happen. The chemistry was so good! The h is wonderful and I was frustrated and then absolutely melted for this H.

She had feelings for him, but he was against the whole concept of her.

I felt for this poor girl. She was honest about herself. This poor thing, having feelings and not having them returned in the way she had hoped? And he was frustrating and shame on him for a certain incident with his brother. I loved how he couldn't fight his attraction and he is lucky he has her. She is a great lead and eventually he is a man worthy of her. He turned out to be what I wanted though i would have liked for him to clarify the brother moment. I had been looking forward to his story and was so happy with it! Our H has to grovel people! Now this was my kinda story. And good for our h, she did all the right things. Great writing and couple and I look forward to more!

This is a great book! I didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the story. The story focuses on Masaccio (Mas), a man hardened to emotion by his father, and Leora (Leo) a young woman hopelessly in love with him. Mas is understandably upset with being forced to marry Leo as part of a deal made between the fathers. He acts out, pushing Leo away until she finally breaks. It was hard reading how Mas struggled with his emotions. He doesn’t know how to love another since it wasn’t shown to him. Leo, on the other hand, was showered with love by her father.

This is an emotional and angsty story. Mas and Leo go through so many emotions separately and together and have to do a lot of self-reflection before they can move forward. It is a story about forgiveness and putting the past behind. The author did a great job of writing in such a way that makes you feel like you are there with the MCs, you feel like an intruder watching events unfold due to the great description of each scene. There are some annoying typos in the book. Overall, I liked the book and recommend it to readers that enjoy grumpy/sunshine, mafia, enemies to lovers, forbidden love, forced proximity, spicy stories.

These two characters certainly keep you emotionally involved, they're so well written and Leora's character development is really strong.

At the start I really didn't like Leora, she comes across as very immature but that really highlights her character, as part of a mafia family her father has kept her close, she's never dated and her feelings she's in love with Mas after they kiss is a first love as a teen kind of giddiness that is very well written.

When Mas eventually lets her into his heart and mind she's able to really understand him and her love for him then is stronger and she's grown into a strong, fierce woman who isn't afraid to push for her own needs in their relationship.

This is a really enjoyable book, a nice easy read that starts with you feeling frustrated with Mas until he realises how he feels but thinks it's too late and it really made me feel for him. The way Mas was raised he's really never experienced love of any kind and my heart broke for him. A beautiful love story about two people who really need each other.

While I absolutely LOVE most mafia books, especially those of the forced proximity sort, this book was slightly lacking for me. It could be simply the fact that other authors have ruined the genre for me, as there have been some amazingly written books but I have to look at the fact that there are plenty of typos within along with slang terminology that doesn't exactly fit in when writing. For example, "ripping someone off" is near always meant in the context that someone is stealing from you, not making fun of you. Perhaps it's as simple as changing it to "ripping on me"? It could be a language barrier.

On the upside of things, I am a lover of relationships that deal with opposites attract and those that are butting heads together all the time. For me, it makes the reading just that much more enjoyable! So I will say that this was a big plus for me, especially with how our ML fought his attraction so hard. It's honorable and also very delicious once that first taste of giving in happens. No more spoilers, I hope you guys enjoy!

This book had me hooked from the start until the very end, the story was written well and the characters were captivating. This story was about Masaccio Vece and Leora Alesso, they both went to the same wedding his cousin was her best friend and both were in the wedding party together. Leora has had a crush on him all her life. Masaccio like to look at her from afar she was gorgeous but a rival, he kissed her and that freaked him out so he stayed at the bar then left early. When he is forced to marry her he tried to get out of it. She is gobsmacked that her father arranged her to marry him, she was so happy, she was really happy to be Mrs Masaccio Vece, their wedding night was one she would never forget she even had her own bedroom never to sleep in the same bed. He never spoke to her so she left the house with a suit case, now that he is free from her but is that what he really want or not.

OMG this was another great book. It was a steamy page turner and the suspense was intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. This book was addicted of mystery and I was hooked. Leora was the mafia princess and Masaccio who need to have a wife and the chemistry between them it was sexy tension and the physical attraction was spicy hot and they couldn't even fight the temptation any longer. It had danger and revenge with chaos and drama with madness. Could love sneak up on them both in this moment.
I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

Leoras father had kept her protected her whole life but now he has given her in marriage to save his territory with their rivals son, Masaccio, also her secret crush. Mas is dedicated to the family and work he doesn't do relationships let alone marriage, but when his father blindsided him with the arranged marriage he must follow orders. But could this be more than a one sided love? This story was engaging and well paced but I felt Lenora was a bit too heavy on the ignorance side with her intense thoughts and feelings for Mas, that kind of detracted from the story a bit for me for the first half of the book, it did simmer down to realisation for her and the story picked up from there.

This book is about Masaccio and Leora, he's the next heir to the mafia family who doesn't want to get married and She's a spoilt mafia princess who has loved Masaccio since she was little.

Their fathers are heads of families who don't get on but Leora's father is struggling for cash and they agree to an alliance based on marriage. This is book is about their relationship and how it develops.

On one hand it was a quick read, the overall arc of the story was good but the characters were annoying at times and they weren't developed as well as they could have been. Overall though I'd say it's definitely worth a read

She Knew He was the ONE

I really despised Masaccio throughout the start of this marriage because of how he treated Leora during the start of their marriage. I just wanted them to have some serious words about it. I was cheering Leora on during her growth. When Masaccio stepped it up he finally got my vote.

The thoughtfulness these two demonstrated at different times was perfection.

I was soothed when Mas and Leo came together and got it together. Another Hannah Rio book that had me flying through each page.

Hannah Rio is a fantastic writer, her creativity that she puts into the words on each page of her books is none other than mine blowing. She took Something Old and twisted it into a great mafia read that I don’t think anyone would’ve expected. This book shows how an actual arrange marriage works, and it also shows that when you find the right person, it doesn’t matter if you felt love your whole life that one person can become your universe. She is taking 114 page book and made me sad while I’m stuck here waiting for the next one. Not in a bad way sad I can’t wait for it so pick up this read a few hours and you’re done but you will not be disappointed.

The story might have used more development. The female protagonist, Leo, was somewhat obnoxious for the most part of the narrative. It seemed like she couldn't detect the slightest indication that he had zero interest in her. Then for her to switch roles was quite strange to me. Furthermore, this narrative contained a few instances of poor grammar. Additionally, I thought the conclusion was a little too hasty.

This story had my emotions all over the place as I read this book. Leora is a spoiled princess who has had a crush on Masaccio and now that she is at her friend's wedding she is going to try and make her dreams come true. Masaccio doesn't have time for feelings or a spoiled woman but when she is to become his things change between them and his growing love for Leora may be his downfall. Will Leora get her wish of a happily ever after with Masaccio.

Leora and Masaccio are the couple in this book. Leora's father arranged a marriage for his daughter to bail him out. She's had a crush on Masaccio, and she tries to win him over while he keeps his distance. Finally, she gives up and leaves & he realizes he had feelings for her. The characters weren't fully fleshed out imo. Leora was more a young brat until she decided to leave. Masaccio was basically a jerk. The two just seemed to be together because they had to be. For me this is the best Mafia Rom I've read in awhile, the feels in this book we're done right. The emotions were written well enough that as Leora's heart broke mine broke with hers. The grovel from Mas was decent but IMO not quite good enough after what he tried to get his brother to do. I think it was a missed opportunity for an epic grovel. Between that and feeling like the book just stopped. Was it all resolved & did they get their HEA? Yes, but it still felt abrupt. Those two reasons are why I didn't rate this 5⭐s.

Masaccio Vece and Leora Alesso are a big no no! She's daughter of Marco Alesso, a huge rival of the Vece family and trouble all wrapped up in a nice little package. Something Old is my first read by this author and is a fantastic, forbidden, "arranged" marriage, age gap read. They have their share of bumps before getting to their HEA but you'll enjoy every second. Something Old packs quite a punch in this quick read.

Something Old by Hannah Rio

I enjoy Mafia stories and this one is really good. It is about Leora who is the daughter of a man who groomed her to be a Mafia princess. Now she is going to be a Mafia wife to Masaccio who does not want a wife. He is fighting it the whole way. If you like Mafia stories this one is for you. I recommend this story. This is the first book in the Revenge Brides: The Vece Familia Mafia series. It’s a very intense, emotional, age gap, arranged marriage romance. It’s full of drama, angst and unrequited love. It’s a bit different from other mafia romances Ive read lately. It was more about Masaccio and Leora’s relationship and less about the actual mafia business. I was drawn in from the beginning and enjoyed it very much.

This was a lot like a few other similar stories that were done better. The h was TOO giggly, and incredibly immature for someone raised in the mafia. She giggled on every page! I felt bad for the hero, and was sort of happy when the h finally realized she was a nitwit. I finished it because I like a good "shut down" story, but this missed the mark.

Amazing and intense!

This book gripped me from the first. The plot is full of twists and unrequited love. The characters are real and conflicted. If they were my friends I would recommend marriage counseling. All in all it is a super interesting read. I can recommend this book to everyone over 17. But especially to romance lovers.
