On some level we must love the most awful things about each other. I hate your sports utility vehicle. I hate what it's doing to the world and I hate the way it's not remotely appropriate for an urban environment and that it makes it impossible to pass you on a busy road, cars parked on either side, how we cinch and groan and jerk to make up for your decision. But the elaborate fragility of your ego which made you desire a sports utility vehicle in the first place I find as touching as an otter playing with its favourite stone.
