People do not trust Christianity anymore. But rather than trying to make the church look better, respected author and pastor Dr. Eric Mason calls followers of Jesus to be better.
The reputation of the people of God isn’t healthy. You can’t scroll down a newsfeed without seeing someone post something negative about the church—a scandal, church hurt, foolish words from the pulpit, and more. People don’t respect Christians anymore. If God’s glory is supposed to be shown through his people, something is very wrong. We need major rebranding.
Rather than claiming that this low reputation is spiritual warfare, we need to own our role. In Rebranding the Church, Dr. Mason invites followers of Jesus to join God in the work of restoring dignity in the church.
Dr. Mason isn’t just calling the church out, he is also calling her up. This book is a training manual for the average Christian to lovingly and truthfully share Christ with people who no longer respect their faith. It's a roadmap to addressing some of the biggest reputation issues Christians have, and a street-level picture of what following Jesus actually looks like. We can welcome back people who have been hurt by the church. We can reverse the negativity that has been allowed to proliferate. And it all starts now.

Rebranding the Church is a call to action for the body of Christ. In a time where so many are deconstructing and have grown disillusioned with Christianity, Dr. Eric Mason invites believers to take a long look in the mirror and evaluate if they are truly representing Jesus well. The author doesn’t just point out bad behavior but also provides practical steps for the reader to return to the mission of Christ.
This book was honest and direct yet loving. The authors insights were incredibly thought provoking and challenged me to reflect on areas where I could grow in my witness of Jesus. I encourage everyone who professes to be a follower of Christ to read this book. I would recommend this book for small groups as it would spark a lot of meaningful conversation among believers. It would also be a great resource for ministry or leadership training.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Christian Publishing for allowing me to have an advanced reader copy of the book in exchange for my honest review!
I must say I had the privilege to be exposed to this man of God wisdom during the COVID (2021) era. Grateful our paths crossed via sermons. Dr Eric Mason is a man whom loves God and has a desire to have an impact to the kingdom of God to the glory of God.
Dr E has a way of explaining the truths of scripture to making it plainly simple. His passion to introduce people to the love of God comes through clearly in the pages of this wonderful work call Rebranding the Church. Excellent job. Bravo sir. A must read . Blessings
Eric Mason breaks down the key rebranding types the church needs from rebranding oneself to church leaders and men. It’s important for Christians to represent Christ based on how he has instructed us to not what the world wants. Today, the world hates Christians and the church because of the viral videos and personal stories they’ve encountered, but it is up to us as ambassadors of Christ to fix this “PR crisis” and make Jesus’ name and the church great again!
