The Winchester clan has congregated in full force and Evie, the Countess of Woodridge, is busy keeping Tom's wayward relatives in line, but it seems impossible to herd them into a corner and maintain a sense of calm and order.
Evie expects trouble to break out at any moment, and when it does, she’s right in the thick of it. However, finding a body by the holly tree is the least of her concerns. It seems every Winchester in residence had reason to want to see the man dead.
This series started out fairly enjoyable. The back and forth teasing of The Countess and Tom was fun and interesting. However, now it seems a bit stale and I don’t really enjoy the antics of the cousins or the lady’s maid’s constant ramblings.
May be the end of the line with this series for me.
I always enjoy a visit with Evie Parker. In this entry of the series, however, it felt like she was a bit off her game. The story line made it necessary for the Dowagers and Toodles to take a step back. An enjoyable read, but not Ms Parin's best.
